Joy Wendling | Created to Play
The Playfully Faithful Parenting podcast is an absolute treasure for any parent or future parent seeking guidance and inspiration in raising their children with a strong foundation of faith. Hosted by Joy, the podcast delves into the world of spiritual parenting and provides practical tips and strategies to integrate early childhood education with authentic faith and spiritual practices. As someone who grew up in a non-Christian home, I find Joy's perspective refreshing and enlightening as she combines her knowledge of early childhood education with her deep faith in Jesus. Even though I am not yet a mother myself, I found myself captivated by each episode, eager to learn from Joy's wisdom and contagious joy.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is how Joy emphasizes the importance of being present and playful with our children. In a world that often treats parenting as a burden or responsibility, Joy encourages parents to slow down and truly enjoy their children. Her practical tips on incorporating playtime into our lives not only bring us closer to our children but also nurture their spiritual growth. Additionally, I appreciate how Joy integrates scripture and biblical teachings into her discussions, providing parents with a strong foundation for raising their children in the way of Jesus.
While it is difficult to find any negative aspects about this podcast, some may argue that it primarily caters to Christian parents or those seeking to raise their children in a religious environment. However, even if you are not religious yourself, there is still much value to be gained from Joy's insights on intentional parenting through play.
In conclusion, The Playfully Faithful Parenting podcast is a must-listen for any parent or grandparent looking to make a lifelong difference in their child's life. Joy's passion for playfulness and her ability to connect spirituality with everyday parenting challenges make this podcast both delightful and encouraging. Whether you are seeking practical advice or simply need some encouragement on your parenting journey, Joy's words will surely leave you feeling inspired and equipped to be the parent you have always dreamed of being.

Do you have a consistent habit of spending time with God? It can be so hard to do with kids at home. Yet, Deuteronomy 6:5-7 shows us that discipling our children starts with us loving God. It is from that love of God that our teaching, discipling, and nurturing the faith of our children flows. Otherwise, you will be trying to work for God instead of with him. This leads to burnout and your kids seeing through the inauthenticity. Here are 3 tips to help Christian mamas to spend time with Jesus and enjoy it! You've got the Holy Spirit! You can do it, mama! In this episode of Playfully Faithful Parenting, we dive into the important distinction between teaching kids Biblical facts and nurturing their faith. Through my experience as a mother, children's minister, and seminary graduate, I explore how simple questions, like the number of loaves and fishes, might build knowledge but not necessarily foster a deep, personal relationship with God. I share insights from language learning and ministry to illustrate how we can move beyond memorization to encourage our children to truly engage with and wonder about Bible stories. Join me as I discuss how to inspire your kids to grow in their faith through curiosity and relationships, and make faith a playful, heartfelt journey. You've got the Holy Spirit! You can do it, mama! Many Christian mothers struggle with their reactions to their children's misbehavior, often responding with anger, frustration, or harsh discipline. This inconsistency between their faith values and parenting practices can lead to guilt, damaged relationships, ineffective discipline, and impact their child's faith. The podcast addresses how moms can align their responses to misbehavior with their Christian beliefs, focusing on self-regulation, gentleness, and modeling Christ's love, even in challenging moments. It explores the biblical perspective on discipline and offers practical strategies for moms to cultivate a more grace-filled, spiritually-grounded approach to guiding their children's behavior. I recently read a statistic that said 92% of Christian parents believe they are responsible for nurturing their children's faith, but only 33% feel prepared to do so. Christie Thomas's new book, Little Habits, Big Faith is a great resource for growing in confidence in your ability to disciple your child. Until just a few days before the end of the year, I was unsettled in my reading plan for 2024. I loved my reading rhythm I had developed over the past couple of years, but it didn't feel right. God then called my to read the entire Bible in 30 days. Not to try to learn everything, understand everything, but to simply be flooded with his Word for hours each day. In this episode, hear more about soaking in God's Word, as well as what Psalm stuck out to me as a mama. You've got the Holy Spirit! You can do it, mama! Today, Joy dives into the topic of why she gave up her quiet time and how it has transformed her approach to motherhood. In this episode, Joy addresses the pressure that Christian moms often feel to be perfect and do everything perfectly. She emphasizes that even if we could parent perfectly, it doesn't guarantee that our kids will turn out perfectly. Joy encourages moms to not constantly feel the weight of the world on their shoulders, but instead to find joy and fulfillment in their role as mothers. She shares her perspective on quiet time and challenges the notion that it has to look a certain way for every mom. Joy discusses her own personal experiences and the freedom she found in giving God all 24 hours of her day, rather than just a specific hour. She shares practical ways she spends time with God and emphasizes the importance of finding a rhythm that works for each individual mom. If you're a mom seeking a fresh perspective on quiet time and how to connect with God in the midst of motherhood, this episode is for you. Tune in to gain insights and be inspired to experience the joy of motherhood to the fullest. You've got the Holy Spirit! You can do it, mama!
