The final episode…for now! Marcie and JoAnn talk about what their next right dreams are - JoAnn will be stepping away from the podcast, but Marcie may do some rebranding so stay tuned! We filled in one eye on our Daruma dolls and when we complete our next right step, we will fill in the other eye. Marcie shares about her book idea and JoAnn talks about her Vision Videos. It has been a fun ride and gave us so many opportunities to connect with others all around the world. We wanted to learn, get used to speaking and find inspiration. Thank you for coming along on the journey. We're still here so let's keep in touch! @marciepartie and @jhigacoaching on Instagram themarciepartie.com
During our stay in Florence, we met people with great dreams and stories. Dominique is one of them. Listen to her story of a dream that unfolded in its own time. The process started in 2019 to get her Italian visa. She had the perfect conditions to be able to obtain this special family visa. Then the world shut down - she was unable to go anywhere. She still had the strong desire to move to Italy and improve her craft of singing opera so she took classes online and watched streamed performances from NY. She kept as close to her dream as she could even though she couldn't make the move at that time. Having never been to Italy before and not speaking the language, she didn't let that stop her from moving at the end of summer 2021. There were so many conditions that were influential to her successful transition. What a delight it was to hear her adventure and see how things worked out for her so far! You can find her on Instagram @missmusico_official
As requested by our friends in Rosarito Mexico, We are sharing a morning in Florence with you. You will want to watch this episode on our Youtube channel - Have you heard of Marbled Paper? If you haven't, it's a beautiful craft that we highly recommend trying. We went and took a class with Riccardo at his store in Florence. At the time of this recording, the class was 30 euros. You can find him on Instagram and Facebook @riccardolucifirenze. He does demonstrations in the store and you can schedule a class to make your own design. The paper can then be used to cover a notebook, picture frame and he does have a variety of products to choose from like leather wallets, card holders, even earrings. He is patient, good natured, and what a delight it was to meet him and his staff. They have also been featured in Japan's magazine Italia. It's no surprise that the other side of the world already knows him! If you want to see a full demonstration, go to Instagram @younicornlens for the Live
In today's episode from Florence, we chat about the dream we're living now and how we got to this point. It was originally Marcie's Impossible Goal and on JoAnn's Someday List. Now we want to call it something else, but we don't know what yet. But for the past week, we've been listening to Christy Whitman's videos on the power of words. She takes common phrases we often say and talks through reasons to eliminate saying them and what to replace them with. Instead of saying “I can't wait”, she suggests saying “I'm looking forward to”. This small change makes a shift in energy from scarcity to positivity. We have some visitors with us and they gave us Daruma dolls. They come without the eyes drawn in so they are meant to be drawn in by us. Once an intention or goal is set, one eye is drawn in. When the goal is met, the other eye is drawn in. It is a talisman that will remind us of our goals. It is not meant as a wish, but as a promise to ourselves to achieve those goals. The shape of the doll suggests the doll will fall, but always land upright. Our first interview here in Florence and what a treat it was to spend the afternoon with Robbin. She is a photographer and “Wine Doors of Florence” author and expert. Her book is beautifully photographed and she pointed several out to us as we walked around the Santo Spirito area and City. Those doors were used to sell wine from peoples' homes long ago. Marcie is searching them out like it's a scavenger hunt! Follow us to see her progress! @younicornlens on IG and The YOUnicorn Lens private group on FaceBook We found that Robbin has many talents and interests that made our time with her pass so quickly. Food, wine, photography, book binding, she's the one who introduced us to marbled paper with @riccardolucifirenze on Instagram. You can find her on Facebook and Instagram @robbingheesling and her website www.robbingheesling.com. She has workshops on Viator and TripAdvisor so book with her if photography is your thing!
Our first few days in Florence have been filled with new sights and sounds. Learning to get around on the bus, meeting the hosts, making our way around the kitchen. Getting a routine established, we are starting our Italian study and just getting settled in. Yoga, lemon water, taking our vitamins and supplements are also a part of our routines. We highly recommend our current Airbnb just 15 min away by bus from the center of Florence. It's a beautiful property rich in history and the hosts have been checking in and making sure we have what we need. https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2172706?source_impression_id=p3_1647887365_IE3gH1enMRDZ040B
We met Stephanie by going through Sheri Salata's signature Course last year and had the privilege of getting to know more of her story in today's episode. She's a multi-talented artist, writer, massage therapist and plant-based chef. After taking a DNA test for a medical checkup at 48 years old, she was shocked to discover she was adopted at birth! We hear about her discovery, detective work and divine interventions that wove the loose strands in her life together into a beautiful gift and tapestry. Things that seemed a little off in her life started to make sense. She would have lived a fulfilled life without knowing, but this discovery has brought an unexpected richness! She is working on the memoir and we are looking forward to reading it when it's published. You can find her on Instagram @thestephaniedianne and that will lead you to her other interests and accounts to follow. You may also email her at hello@stephanie-dianne.com

Episode 48 Well in today's episode we improvise because we had recorded our guest interview on zoom but then couldn't retrieve it for editing! What happened?! It vanished so our guest has graciously agreed to do it again. So for this episode we talk about our trip to Sedona and our plant-based getaway. During our time, we also had a Masterclass through the Support System we are a part of. Along with Sheri Salata, we learned from Kathy Freston and Donny Mackower about plant-based living and some myths about protein and tofu. And we start preparing for our We Care Spa coming up this weekend. It's one of those places that have been on our “someday” list that we moved to our today list. A detox weekend to give our bodies a reset.
In today's episode we talk about what we have coming up. Trips to Sedona and We Care Spa (www.wecarespa.com), both at the perfect time. Getting curious about plant based eating. Practicing who we want to be, how we want to live. Besides cultivating our dreams and healthy lifestyles we've added Marcie the new Handy woman and JoAnn the new Pool player. We have more guests scheduled as we continue the conversation about all things Italian. Travel plans while we're there are starting to form. The countdown clock is on our phones and we practice some basic Italian. Marcie has her free workshop "Practicing Possibility" coming up Feb. 22-25 at 5p PST. Today we talk with Olivia Windsor and learn about her journey from Australia to Italy. With her love for food and wine, she immersed herself in the culture, language and cuisine of Italy and now she runs tours in collaboration with Untold Italy. She started by working at an organic farm through WWOOF (Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms) www.wwoof.net Who knew there was such an organization! Before she got there, she got her certificate for the first level of sommelier training, which gave her an advantage. She now lives in Piedmont, a northern town in Italy. She left her digital marketing job to pursue her dream of doing food tours in Italy! It wasn't all planned out from the start, but as she surrounded herself with the things she loved to do, it became apparent. We've enjoyed her virtual tours she's done on Instagram Live and you can feel the love she has for her new home. You can find her at www.livguine.com YouTube, FaceBook and Instagram @livguine
As we prepare for our time in Florence, it's been delightful getting into the Italian spirit and one way has been to start with basic Italian language. We came across Michele on Instagram @intrepiditalian and loved her style of teaching. In today's conversation, we hear her story of making the move from Melbourne to Rome, and then to London. You'll have to hear her favorite Italian phrase, which represents Italian culture so beautifully. She has 3 flagship language programs and is launching her newest program which focuses on training your ear for the most comprehension. And she is having a big giveaway of her complete language bundle so enter now for a chance to win! The winner will be announced next week. In today's episode, we share some of our experiences in Rosarito...mark the day! It was a day of possibilities parading right before our eyes! Beach house for sale with friendly neighbors and a beautiful ocean view. It sparked us to dream about some international living...Mexico, Italy, Japan. Who else would like in on the dream?! We are planning to live in Italy for two months and so we are brainstorming on what to do, and how to share the experience with our friends and listeners. How to build a community that shares this love of global living. NaaaaaMaste! We tried out some goat yoga with Goat Yoga Las Vegas https://www.goatyogalv.com/. We met at Desert Pines Golf Course and were able to chat with Brandon Nobles, the owner. He drove in with a trailer of goats...whichever goat wanted to go to work, hopped in the trailer! That's how all work should be! They are an animal rescue shelter and started Goat Yoga as a way to help fund the rescue. They travel around Las Vegas so check the website for times and locations. Bottomless wine and yoga is every other Wednesday at Desert Pines Golf Club and indoor yoga is every other Saturday in Henderson. This is great no matter your level of yoga practice. Our teacher, Tami Taliaferro, was fun and made sure we had plenty of photo ops with the goats. We had the privilege of speaking with Hailee Gardnier who lived in a small town called Berghamo in northern Italy for almost 2 years. Hailee has been a Spanish and Italian tutor and is currently living her best life as a certified Life Coach. You can find out more about her by visiting her website at haileemae.com Marcie met her in The Life Coach School and when she heard her experience of living in Italy she asked her to be our guest. She shared some great advice to make our trip enjoyable. Watch out for pickpockets, make as many mistakes with the language early on (practice on kids), and know that drinks don't come with ice and to-go boxes are not a thing. For quick trips in Europe, use Ryan Air. We talk more about food and the tradition of La befana. We look forward to sharing our experiences when we go to Italy! Stay tuned for that in 2022.

What a treat to speak with Viengsouk Markthepharack Chan aka Sue the queen, the boss at Spa Bellagio! We had the privilege of working with Sue and getting to know her through our years at the spa. Originally from Laos, she shares her story of being in a communist camp for 6 years and then escaping to the US. Admired by everyone, she is now retired and enjoying her days with her family and still carrying out her responsibilities at the Wat Lao Khantidhammaram Buddhist temple. We interviewed her at the beautiful temple and had the special sweet treat she made! After hearing her story, we can see why Sue was never one to complain over small things. Her work ethic and respect for others always stood out. We are blessed to have the chance of having her in our lives.
In today's episode, we take you with us to leave unicorn ducks on Jeeps! We are on the go! Starting on Valle Verde in Henderson, we hit Trader Joe's, stop at St. Rose hospital as we pass by Raw Fitness, go to Lowe's, EoS, and finally the Original Sunrise Cafe. We delivered a total of 10 ducks! You hear our conversation in between and it was fun making the random deliveries!
This episode is over Zoom again. JoAnn is still doing her 30 day challenge of going live on Instagram. Today's talk was on abundance. Remembering that 2019 was a big year for travel. Dreaming is free, let's keep dreaming. Marcie got unicorn ducks and we plan to find jeeps and leave them as presents. Grad week for Made to Do This program JoAnn is doing. She shares about someone in her pod (small group) Jerzy Jung who has been inspiring because of her authenticity and talent. Pay $5 if you say sorry when you did nothing wrong - could be a side hustle! Plans to talk with Marcie's classmate who used to live in Italy. We bring up the idea of starting our own Mastermind group because we are masters in our own mind! Lol! We hope to see @younicornlens tagged with photos of the unicorn ducks we left!
At the end of today's episode, we test out mics on our zoom call. We talk about our 30 day challenges: JoAnn going live on IG and Marcie strengthening her upper body. We discuss some ideas around the whole “I don't know” phrase we have often fallen into. We've met so many amazing people through Sheri Salata's Support System including Janine Durso and Ruthie Furman. Take a look at Janine's website www.janinedurso.com and we are hoping to have Ruthie on as a guest sometime. We are also playing around with the idea of having our separate podcasts in the future since we have been enjoying doing this podcast. The Artist Way pod work continues, and the artist dates seem to get away from Marcie and JoAnn has fallen off the morning pages train! We set the deadline of finding accomodations in Italy by the end of Oct. for our 2022 stay.
In this episode, we try out doing the podcast over Zoom. We were planning to do it over the phone, but didn't have the right connector so it will be another time. Although, doing it over Zoom makes it easier to post a video on YouTube. The camera Marcie mentioned was Logitech C920e. We talk about our pod for The Artist's Way, a big congrats to Jennifer for the recognition she's getting for her book. We also share who's been influencing us lately: On instagram @the_human_builder @therealcanvagirl Podcasts Dear Gabby (Gabby Bernstein) Satellite Sisters Don't Keep Your Day Job (Cathy Heller) Side Hustle School (Chris Guillebeau) We also mention new podcast ideas! As always, we love to hear from you so be the first to email us at younicornlens@gmail.com and get a prize...and a mention in our next episode!
In today's episode we catch up after weeks of Making Las Vegas Our Lover and other guests. The best part has been meeting new friends in the Downtown Arts District. New place that opened - Taverna Costera, right next to the Art Factory. https://www.tavernacostera.com We mention the Artist's Way group that we formed with Jennifer Battisti and how we've been doing with the homework of having an Artist's date. Marcie's next one will be painting her spirit. JoAnn talks about being in the Made to Do This 12-week course. Challenges and limiting beliefs. A great time of learning. Certainty, clarity and confidence help move us forward. Marcie shares how discovering her connection with her birth mother has been affecting how she feels. Let us know if there is something you'd like us to talk about or if you have any questions.
Mini episode Sometimes you hit a bump and keep going. In today's mini episode, we had planned to sit down and talk with someone from Little Church of the West Wedding Chapel but it didn't happen so we walked around and took a little tour outside the chapel. https://littlechurchofthewest.com/ According to their website, the Little Church is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places, the only such place on the “Strip” with this honor. And Elvis was married here in the movie “Viva Las Vegas.” We may not have had an interview today, but we got to enjoy a lovely breakfast just down the street! The Broken Yolk Cafe is one of our favorites! https://www.thebrokenyolkcafe.com/location/broken-yolk-cafe-las-vegas-nv/ Write to us at younicornlens@gmail.com Find us on Instagram @younicornlens
Today's guest is Miriamah Saba. She and her husband Norm Schilling have a couple of vacation rentals in Las Vegas. There are links below if you'd like to check them out. We had a lovely conversation with Miriamah at the Vintage LV Oasis property with the pool. We all worked together and have seen her balance work, family, travel and working on these side businesses. She shares how they got started and some of the challenges that come along with making sure things run smoothly. With her background in 5 star service at Spa Bellagio, it's no surprise that they have 5 star ratings for both their properties. They are conscientious owners who have cultivated good relationships with the community. Book with them if you are coming for a visit or want to do a stay-cation, you'll be happy you did! She also shared their upcoming plans for their Belize property that is being built right now and should be completed next year. They started out investing in Teak trees at http://laquaplantations.com/ and soon bought land to build on. Maybe we will do a podcast from there someday! We had the pleasure of meeting with Dray Gardner to talk about how he used his yoga practice to heal his body and later start the popular Silent Savasana. His energy and attitude were uplifting as we chatted. As things hopefully start to open up, he will be more active with his other projects. DJing, music, teaching yoga and who knows what other opportunities are being manifested at this very moment! No matter what he does, he does it with a positive vibe and with his whole heart. Keep up to date on him at https://yogadg.com/
What a delight to have Jennifer Battisti as our guest. JoAnn and Jennifer worked together at the Spa at Red Rock Resort and Casino. It was about that time that Jennifer started to get more involved in writing. Going back to school, going to workshops and poetry readings. It was when she saw “The King at the Burger King” on her way to a Portland Writer's Workshop that it hit her that she could decide to become a writer just like this Off Duty Elvis decided to become The King. Since making that decision, she's published 2 books (“Echo Bay” and “Off Boulder Highway”), was voted Best Local Writer by Desert Companion readers in 2019, got involved with the Alzheimer's Poetry Project (doing readings at facilities and also teaching children about poetry and Alzheimer's), and continues to broaden her horizons in life and in writing. You can buy her books at: https://tolsunbooks.com You can learn more about her at: https://www.jenniferbattisti.com/bio Alzheimer's Poetry Project http://www.alzpoetry.com/app-poets Keep an eye out for Jennifer on a panel at the Las Vegas Book Festival 2021 https://lasvegasbookfestival.com
What a pleasure to get to know Velma and Derek of The Red Kat inside Retro Vegas. Half of the building has vintage furniture and they run the side that has vintage clothing and accessories. We learned of their love of resurrecting vintage clothing and setting them free to be found by grateful customers. They usually get a call from those wanting to sell their goods. They handpick everything that ends up in their store. If you're lucky, you'll hear stories of where they came from. Definitely check the store out and say hello to the very friendly and approachable Velma and Derek! Do the outfit challenge by putting together a full outfit with $100 or less and send a picture younicornlens@gmail.com or by tagging us on IG @younicornlens and we'll send you a prize!
We sat down to chat with Jennifer, a local artist and natural connector. Originally from New Mexico, she came to Las Vegas and when she met Alex Huerta, she said the way she walked her path changed. The first time she walked into Alex's studio, they talked for 7 hours. When she described him, it was clear that he was an extraordinary man. He was able to love those around him in a way that made them feel like they were the only one he loved that way. But he loved everyone just the same. Here's an article about Alex to get to know more about him: https://knpr.org/dc-blog/remembering-alex-huerta Jennifer actively looks for art by traveling the world and consistently features other artists in her space about every 6 weeks in The Arts Factory. https://dtlvarts.com Mentions: Clarice Tara Cuda https://www.claricetaracuda.com Priscilla Fowler https://www.priscillafowler.com/ Helen Frankenthaler https://www.frankenthalerfoundation.org/artworks/paintings Thomas Moran https://www.thomas-moran.org Find Jennifer on IG @integrate_art_now She does Creative Clarity Consulting, is building an online mental health agency that targets the Spanish speaking community without insurance, and a few other businesses.
Today's guest we met as we were touring Las Vegas on the Big Bus. He was our entertaining tour guide Bruce Reiner. A man of many talents, he graciously allowed us to interview him and get to know him more. Turns out he was involved in the music industry for many years and now can be found at many sporting events as Beer Man Bruce. Here's a little link to a video from the Review Journal about Bruce https://youtu.be/un5v_r8QfhI He loves this city, the people and what he gets to do everyday. It's good to know that visitors (and even us locals) are in good hands when touring the city on the Big Bus. https://www.bigbustours.com/en/las-vegas/classic-las-vegas-tour-ticket You can buy your ticket online, or before you board. If you're a local, ask if they can give you a discount. If you happen to get him as your guide, tell him we sent you and give him some love! Once again, we recorded at the Golden Fog https://www.goldenfoglv.com/ Check them out when you're downtown! Enjoy the episode, and as always, write in with any comments, suggestions, questions at Younicornlens@gmail.com
In today's episode we chat with Frida Bjelke who we worked with at Spa Bellagio. She was an aesthetician and after she left, began exploring other passions. She is a naturally friendly, gracious woman so it's not surprising that the right people at the right time come her way. When she started doing make-up for shows, she started building her portfolio by volunteering. Soon, her reputation started to grow and she worked on her first TV show on Netflix called Como Caido del Cielo. She got to learn from other artists and just finished Jluvia. Watch for her as she climbs up the ranks and someday wins an Oscar for her work! She's worked in Mexico and California. More recently, she's been learning about FX and loves the blood and gore. We love seeing people doing what lights them up. As a side note, a big thank you to Chrystal Messervier and Miriam Rosales for sharing our podcast and Therina Simmons for writing our first review on Apple Podcast! We appreciate the love and support!
We had the pleasure of having Sallie Douglas as our guest as the quest for Making Las Vegas our Lover gathers some steam. We learn about her life growing up in Vegas and how her father influenced her artistic endeavors. A dancer, model, teacher, nursing student, casino employee in her early days, she now continues her art and photography as she also celebrates over 20 years at the Bellagio as an aesthetician. She was a wealth of information on the city of Las Vegas and gave advice on how to experience the most of the city. Thank you for tuning in and as always, we welcome your comments at younicornlens@gmail.com We recorded from Golden Fog Coffee downtown. Sallie's son is the owner so give them a try https://www.goldenfoglv.com
In today's episode, we have our first musical guest Dan Herout. Originally from Chicago, he's been in Vegas since 2006. He talks about his shift in 2020 from a middle school teacher to medical researcher. The shift gives him more freedom to do what he loves - music. We get to hear him play a few songs, like our own mini concert! You can find him at the Artisan Boutique Hotel https://artisanhotel.com Wednesdays at 7-10pm. It's a Homegrown songwriter's showcase so you'll find great local artists there. Marcie interviewed her father, James Squires Parkinson, for his 90th birthday on March 13, 2021. Since it was Memorial Day this past week and Father's Day is coming up, we decided to honor him by passing on part of his story. Jim had a stroke a few years ago that makes it a challenge for him to speak but he opens up and shares about being drafted and serving in the Marines, surviving an emergency landing, falling in love TWICE, switching careers, saving lives, raising a family and realizing he had the power to “Make it a great day!” He is truly an example of what is possible and has been living the life of his Dreams! We hope you ENJOY! We invite our listeners to share your thoughts, share the podcast with a friend, tell us what you want to talk about, who do you want to hear from? Write us at younicornlens@gmail.com
We take this episode to http://bungalowcoffeeco.com/ downtown. Open since March, it's a nice spacious place to grab a bite and nice cup of coffee! JoAnn decides to become one who is not afraid to share and double down on what her natural talents are. Progress on her Fashion Revolution (not so much on the food journaling), and plans to keep moving by daily walks and getting on the Pilates Reformer. We invite our listeners to share your thoughts, share the podcast with a friend, tell us what you want to talk about, who do you want to hear from? Write us at younicornlens@gmail.com or leave a comment or DM on Instagram @younicornlens. We saw Natalie, the owner of https://eatdtlv.chefnatalieyoung.com/ one of our favorite breakfast places. Marcie wants to go see Frank the musician live, you heard it here. It will happen! Working on her website, she went for a photo shoot in Lake Las Vegas. Keeping with the Italian theme. Enjoying the process and can't wait to see the finished product! Stay tuned as we make Las Vegas our Lover! Haunted tour, mob museum, pinball hall of fame, haunted house (maybe not that one?)
