Emotions are a vibration in your body and they come because of a thought. In this episode, I explain how emotions are your superpower, and that they are the fuel that runs your life. We're not taught how to feel our emotions, and we often resist, react, or avoid emotions, but this causes us problems. Emotions are to be felt.....even the hard ones. We often don't want to feel what is uncomfortable, and we buffer or numb ourselves from overeating, scrolling on social media, overshopping, or many other outlets. When we learn the skill of allowing the emotion, we can process it and let it go. It is actually through experiencing the bitter that we can more fully appreciate the sweet. I also share in this episode how to deliberately and intentionally create the emotions you need to fuel your goals and dreams. You are not going to want to miss our upcoming Arise and Shine - Vibrant Living Wellness Conference on April 27. Check it out here! www.vibrantlivingwellnessconference.com
I can see clearly now the rain is gone I can see all obstacles in my way Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day It's gonna be a bright, bright sun shiny day In Utah, during the winter we deal with inversions. The sky is clouded and the pollution is trapped. You can't see very far, let alone breathe clearly. Until......there is a storm. That storm, although it may not be pleasant (especially if you are driving in it), is what clears all the muck. Then everything changes and you can see clearly across the valley. In our own lives, it is often the storms that clean out the areas where we can't see clearly. We come away with a new perspective and understanding. Do you see yourself clearly? Are you living in your true identity? Michelangelo is often quoted as saying that inside every block of stone or marble dwells a beautiful statue – one need only remove the excess material to reveal the work of art. You can't see the masterpiece until you remove all the things in the way. What false ideas, beliefs, doubts, or fears do you need to remove to see yourself clearly? One of my favorite quotes by CS Lewis is “It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible Gods and Goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which…you would strongly be tempted to worship. There are no ordinary people." In 2024, I invite you to see yourself clearly and step into your true identity. See those storms as stepping stones to clear the way. “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny.” CS Lewis Are you ready to get out of the snow and cold and into Health, Healing, and Rejuvenation at our Vibrant Living Hawaii Retreat in March? As we just honored the anniversary of our daughter Olivia's passing, I share a bit of our journey through grief but also finding the silver linings. Much of this podcast is a replay of one of my most listened to episodes of how I came to know my Savior - one of the beautiful silver linings that I experienced through the journey of grief and healing of Olivia's passing. I felt like this was a way not only to honor her but to share with you my wish for you to have a very Merry Christmas as we come to know Him whose birth we celebrate.
Today's episode is a rebroadcast of my most listened-to episode, and it's one of my favorite topics. What God told Jeremiah is also true for you. Before you were in your mother's womb, I chose you. Before you were born, I set you apart for a special work. God is no respecter of persons. YOU, yes YOU, were placed on this planet for a reason. Come learn and discover your unique purpose! In today's episode, I walk you through some questions and activities to gain clarity on your own life purpose and how it fits into the story of your life and experiences. God never wastes a hurt. Most likely, your greatest contribution or impact will likely come out of your greatest pain. If you've ever felt lost regarding your purpose in life, I'll take you by the hand and bring you one step closer to discovery. Enjoy!! www.stacyharmer.com

Today's episode is all about Emotional Responsibility and Accountability. We are humans having an emotional experience, and that means we are alive!! We want to feel the full range of emotions. Just like a heartbeat goes up and down, so will our emotional lives. If the line on the heartbeat monitor goes flat, well, that's not good. We want to live in our full humanity, and that means to feel all the feels! What we don't want is for the negative emotions to take root in our hearts or to stuff them down. In this episode, I share how we use our bodies to physically process them, and as we do this, we can transform our pain into meaningful purpose! Don't miss out on the opportunity to uplevel your life and purpose at our next Vibrant Living Health and Healing Retreat in Hawaii October 4-9. Only 3 spots left! In this episode, I share an experience I had to arise earlier in the morning and the gift that God gave me the next morning at sunrise! I share the importance of creating our morning and evening routines. Those routines actually start in the evening to be prepared for the next day. Our lives are measured by days with the average person living 27,375 days. No matter what happens during the day, if we are intentionally bookending our days, we can stay aligned. That early morning hour is a time of great connection and understanding. Are we willing to be open to all the Lord has and wants to give us? I love the quote from CS Lewis stating: “It would seem that our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased." In this episode, I share about the Miracle Morning - Life S.A.V.E.R.S. by Hal Elrod. Are you ready to rest, rejuvenate, and re-invent your life? Come join us on our next Hawaii Retreat October 4-9! www.stacyharmer.com/retreat
One of the ways we can raise our vibration is to connect with nature! Now is the perfect tie to get outside. Henry David Thoreau was inspired by nature and left the city for the woods - Walden Pond. This is where he wrote the book Waldon. He said that he needed nature to do his best work. A study in 2019 states that 20 minutes outdoors causes the body's production of cortisol and other stress hormones to decrease. In this podcast, I share some fun and easy ideas and ways you can make nature a priority!
In this episode, we talk all about vibration. Everything is energy and has its own vibration, including us! You have a vibrational frequency that is affected by your life experiences, the thoughts you think, the feelings you have, the words you speak, and even the foods you eat! Learn some ways to raise your vibration in your body, heart, mind, and spirit. It's about awareness and taking 100% ownership your self and your life. Are you willing to feel any emotion? If you are, you open your life up to so many possibilities! Life is 50/50, and you'll feel both positive and negative emotions. When we can take 100% ownership and accountability for all the emotions we feel, that is empowerment. Realizing that every emotion you feel is because of a thought you attach to a circumstance puts you in the driver's seat of your life. Emotions are the fuel that runs your life. Your emotions will drive which actions or inaction you take in your life. Once you can tune into the emotions you are feeling and the thought it is tied to, you are in control of how you feel. This is called Emotional Adulthood. This means you take 100% responsibility for your life and emotions. No one needs to change. It's always an inside job. It may seem a whole lot easier to blame everything and everyone around you, but as you do this, you become the victim and give all your power away. This is Emotional Childhood. In the Hero's Journey, you will be faced with trials, traps, temptations, and challenges. You'll hit rock bottom, but it is only through those experiences that you can re-emerge as the hero that you are. When you process your pain and turn it into purpose, you become the HERO of your own story!! Want to get coached on this?? Sending you some Mama love!! As I pondered what to share on today's podcast, my heart was just full of love for you! I have the privilege of coaching many women. I know you. I see you. You sacrifice. You love. You give. You go through hard experiences, and you are still standing. When you fall, you get back up. Know that you are 100% worthy just because you are on this earth. It's not because of any accomplishment. You just are. You are loved, worthy, adored, and cherished. It's never too late to rewrite your story and fuel your life with love. If you need help with rewriting your story, healing your past, and creating your future, reach out to me. I'd love to help you see that YOU are the hero of your story! Much love! xoxo www.stacyharmer.com/contact
In this episode, I share about buffering and how we use external things to change the way we feel emotionally. It's something we do to not fully experience all of our lives. It is to numb the pain you may consciously or even subconsciously be feeling. Our primitive brain wants to seek pleasure, avoid pain and seek comfort. So it would make sense to go to things to provide that dopamine hit. But there are always negative consequences from buffering, even though it may feel good at the moment. It's also like turning off a light in a messy room because you don't want to see the mess. When there is a hole in your life, such as in your relationships, in your spiritual connection, in your physical activity, or in living your purpose, you often go to buffering, such as overeating, overspending, binging Netflix or social media to seek the comfort that we might otherwise be missing. When you stop buffering and start living your true, authentic life, don't be surprised if you feel a flood of emotions coming forward because now you are open to all the feels and not just numbing out. You start seeing exactly what's going on in your mind, your feelings, and your actions. When you stay conscious of this, you can then reevaluate and make positive changes in your life! We are starting my Cleanse and Replenish 28-Day Detox where we are getting a reboot on our health. This week is prep week, but we officially start Monday, April 17. Get ready for summer with the health reboot as we will dive deeper into conquering emotional eating along with many more tools to live in your best self! Give yourself the gift to plan in the morning! The way you spend your days is the way you spend your life. Hal Elrod, the author of The Miracle Morning, searched for what all the most successful people did in their mornings. He broke it down into S.A.V.E.R.S. S- Silence A- Affirmations V- Visualization E- Exercise R- Reading S- Scribe or writing These tools will help you take control of your day and life. But, it actually starts the night before making sure you get enough rest to start your morning. I share more on the episode! I love my mornings. Even if you don't feel like you are a morning person, I encourage you to even carve out an extra 10-15 minutes to have that time for yourself to get grounded before the hustle and bustle of the day begins. Enjoy!! We are just starting our Quarter 2 of Becoming - Come Nourish your Body, Heart, Mind, and Soul! Set your 90-day goal. Use the daily planner, and get coached! The fourth agreement is to always do your best. That will look different from moment to moment, day to day. It will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. At any moment, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment and regret. We don't need to do more or less than that. Be careful not to overload yourself and run faster than you are able. Just do your best in any given situation. I also share in this episode about trying new things and how that adds some freshness to your life. When you are feeling in a rut, think of things that you've never done that you would like to try. You may even want to try a challenge to try something new daily or do a 30-day challenge to try a new habit, hobby, or behavior. Be sure to join us for our Reinvent Yourself Workshop on Tuesday, March 28! Watch for the link on next week's episode!
The third agreement from the book The Four Agreemts is: Don't Make Assumptions. "We have a tendency to make assumptions about everything. The problem with making assumptions is that we believe they are the truth. We could swear they are real. We make an assumption, we misunderstand, we take it personally, and we end up creating a whole big drama for nothing." Rather than making assumptions, we can get curious. We can ask questions. We can try to step into another's shoes and seek to understand what they are feeling rather than making assumptions that are most likely incorrect and creating needless suffering. When our communication is clear, we ask questions, and we seek to understand, we can clear the pathway to connection and understanding. This is something that we can work on daily and by small and simple steps are great things brought to pass. In fact, this month in our Becoming Membership, we are diving deep into creating the daily habits that bring about the results we want. I invite you to join our community and get the daily support, coaching, and accountability as we make our way through the Becoming Cycle. Check it out at: www.stacyharmer.com/becoming
In this episode, I share about the 2nd Agreement - Don't Take Anything Personally, from the book The Four Agreements by don Miguel Ruiz. "Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering." The author states that if you can incorporate the first 2 agreements - Be Impeccable With Your Word and Don't Take Anything Personally, that will break about 75% of all your sufferings. What others say and do is their own projection of hurt and suffering. As you accept this, you can choose to follow your heart with inner peace, and nothing will affect you. Over the next 2 weeks, I'll be sharing about the 3rd and 4th Agreements. Enjoy!
In this episode, I share from the book The Four Agreements. The first agreement is: Be Impeccable With Your Word. The words we use are a powerful force in creation. John 1:1 says - "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God." We first create spiritually through what we see and what we say. Our words have the power to create heaven on earth. They also have the power to create hell for ourselves and others. They are like a 2 edged sword. Depending on how it is used, the word can set you free, or it can enslave you. In this episode, I share what it means to be impeccable with your word to breathe in light, and love to yourself and others. Over the next few episodes, I will be sharing each of the Four Agreements from Don Miguel Ruiz's book "The Four Agreements."

"Most of us have two lives. The life we live, and the unlived life within us. Between the two stands Resistance." quote from The War of Art. The Hero's Journey is all throughout literature, greek mythology, movies, ancient scripture, and in our own lives. We all go on our personal Hero's Journey. Once we get the "call", a mentor will show up. This is someone that has gone before you on the same path and may be further ahead on the journey and knows some of the pitfalls and can guide you. Once we venture into the unknown, there will always be obstacles, trials, traps, temptations, and challenges. We can't make it through without them. In this episode, I share all about resistance. Some of those obstacles for us to continue on in our journey or on with our goals come from our own self-sabotage and our own resistance. I share some golden nuggets on resistance from one of my favorite books - The War of Art by Steven Pressfield. "If you believe in God (and I do) you must declare Resistance evil, for it prevents us from achieving the life God intended when He endowed each of us with our own unique genius." Steven Pressfield - The War of Art
CS Lewis said “It is a serious thing to live in a society of possible Gods and Goddesses, to remember that the dullest and most uninteresting person you talk to may one day be a creature which…you would strongly be tempted to worship. There are no ordinary people." We have both our false identity and our true identity and often go back and forth between the two. Think of a brand-new baby or a little child. We are in awe of her and how adorable she is. She doesn't have to "do" anything to be loved and adored. She just is. That is our true self - 100% loved, adored, and worthy. It's not until the limiting beliefs, doubts, and insecurities creep in that we start operating from our false selves. This is also called the ego or the natural man. Our true self operates from a place of love, compassion, humility, vulnerability, enthusiasm, acceptance, etc. The false self operates from a place of fear, judgment, insecurity, anger, bitterness, resentment, comparison, jealousy, etc. In this episode, I share how we can move from our false to our true identity. It's in the turnaround. We become who we are by letting go of who we are not. If you'd like help with living more in your True Identity, join us in Becoming - a monthly mentoring membership where we help you overcome self-sabotage, doubt, make peace with your past, and step into sharing your gifts and talents with those that need them!! www.stacyharmer.com/becoming
In this episode, I share about abandoning the annual thinking of setting goals and focus in on every 12 weeks or 90 days. Focusing on shorter time periods or "year ends", brings clarity and more focus to be able to execute and follow through. It's important to always connect your 90-day goal to your "why", and create a new intentional thought to go with the goal. Along with the thought, create an intentional emotion you want to generate to drive your actions. Goals are not simply a checklist to accomplish more or to prove you are worthy, etc. You are already 100% worthy, loved, and adored. These 90-day goals simply give our brains something to focus on and work towards, and by continuing to make progress, we are inching our way closer to who we were created to be. Stepping into your future self and visualizing yourself after the accomplishment of the goal is also so helpful to generate the thoughts and emotions which drive your actions. If you need some help, accountability support, or coaching, I invite you to join us in Becoming. We are gathering the most incredible army of women that are stepping into their passion and power as we overcome self-sabotage, self-doubt, fear of being seen, etc. Check out www.stacyharmer.com/becoming Your future self will thank you!! xoxo
The world changes for the better when we wake up to our desires! How much meaning can you put into your life? As we wrap up 2022 and move forward into 2023, have you taken the time to pause and celebrate all that occurred this past year? What went well? What didn't, and what did you learn from it? We don't set goals to prove ourselves or to prove our worth. We are already 100% worthy, loved, and adored by our Eternal Father. But, by setting goals and dreaming, we allow our brains to be future-focused and get the creative juices flowing. Our dreams and goals inch us closer to our truest selves and remind us who we are. They stretch us to grow and become what God created us to be and share our gifts with the people that need them!! Impression without expression leads to depression. We are meant to express ourselves, and our dreams, desires, and goals are a good way to do that!! Merry Christmas week!! In this episode, I chose to share with you how I've come to know my Savior. It is personal, deep, and sacred to me. It came through deep pain, personal anguish, and complete surrender, and it's a daily journey. He is the core of who I am - my best friend, confidante, captain, and companion. How do we put God or our Savior first in our lives? I believe we put Him first in our days. I love the quote from David O. McKay: "We pay too little attention to the value of meditation, a principle of devotion - Meditation is one of the most secret, most sacred doors through which we pass into the presence of the Lord." We all experience the Divine in our own personal ways. He knows us and will connect with us in ways that resonate with us. What I know for sure is that He is so mindful of us no matter what! He is so forgiving and wants to shower blessings upon us. He desires to be close to us personally. When we go on a journey to connect with Him and surrender our lives to Him, He can make more of our lives than we ever possibly could. He knows we are not perfect. He knows we are human and will make mistakes and stumble. The only thing that matters is that we turn toward Him. Let Him manifest Himself to you in ways that are personal to you. Throughout all my years of personal development, training, and coaching, what has brought me my greatest transformation has been my knowledge, journey, and relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the core of who I am and everything I do. The first letter of the Hebrew alphabet is Aleph - meaning 1 - mighty and powerful. The symbol is an Ox. An ox doesn't carry a load on its own. Oxen work in pairs and are joined by a yoke. In Matthew, it states "Take my yoke upon you....for my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Whenever we join yokes with the Savior, we are promised that we will find rest in our souls. I have discovered this personally. Merry Christmas! The scriptures say that without a vision, the people perish. Come get your vision for next year! Join us for a free workshop - Dare to Dream 2023. As we move forward in making goals and looking to 2023, be sure to always be connected to your WHY! In the book, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years, Donald Miller talks about crossing a stretch of water. It's not just leaving the shore and arriving at the destination, it's the "hard work of the middle." It's the messy middle where we are tempted to give up or start over. When we connect with our inner motivation of why we are doing things, we are in a better position to keep at it through the ups and downs and hard work. Ask yourself...Why am I doing this anyway?? Then try to remember your dream and original vision. No one crosses that messy middle to reach their goals unless they really want what's on the other side. And there will be a whole lot of discomfort in the process. Do you know your WHY??
We can't have a better life than the thoughts we think about. In the Daily Devotion book, Jesus Calling, Day Nov. 26, it states: "Walk with Me along the high road of thanksgiving, and you will find all the delights I have made ready for you. To protect your thankfulness, you must remember that you reside in a fallen world, where blessings and sorrows intermingle freely. " When we are constantly focusing on adversity, we often feel defeated. We might walk through a day that is brimming in brightness and beauty but only see the grayness of our thoughts. We can walk through dark days with JOY in our hearts because the Light of His presence is always shining. When we are focused on gratitude, there's no room for disappointment or fear. I encourage you to have a daily gratitude practice. As you list the things that you are grateful for, go a bit deeper. List the reasons why you are grateful for that particular person or thing. It will stir up emotions that are powerful in opening up your heart and staying in gratitude. I'm grateful for you my friend!! Thank you for listening and being part of my world and community!! Have a beautiful week! xoxo
In this podcast, I share about letting go and how our physical items have deeper emotional attachments. In this episode - Design Your Future, I share about SMARTER Goals and why it is important to have CLARITY. In the Bible, Jesus approaches individuals who needed restoration and healing asking what they wanted Him to do. Obviously, Christ already knew what they needed, but instead of instantly healing them, He asked them to declare what they wanted. First, more than healing, they needed clarity. He was unwilling to meet their physical needs until they got clear on what it is they wanted and could verbalize their desire. So must we! Great results don't just happen. My left-brained, logical husband always says: "A problem clearly stated is a problem 1/2 solved." So true! Some of the tools I share here will help you gain clarity as your design YOUR future!! I've opened up my calendar for some free Coaching Clarity sessions! If you've never experienced coaching, I invite you to grab a complimentary session and discover the beauty and power of coaching in your life! Just send me a message, and I'll send you my calendar! Thanks, and enjoy!! xoxo www.stacyharmer.com/contact

In Proverbs 29:18 it says..... "Where there is no vision, the people perish." In this episode, I talk about VISION. Your life has a blueprint. When you built Your home (or whoever did), there was a blueprint. There was a plan for that structure. God made you for a purpose, and we can choose to step into that purpose as our hearts are open. Do you know that seed planted in your heart? Don't fight against it. It's a God-seed. It's your Divine DNA – follow it. How do I know if you've been successful? Sometimes we may set goals that are random and not even connected or aligned with that personal vision. I'm inviting you in this episode to not only create your own Personal Life Vision but also create your own Success Criteria. What is YOUR success criteria?? Try answering this question: “I know I'm BEING successful when…..” Then write down 10 items that align with your personal life vision. It's not so much about DOING but BEING!
What's On Your Plate?! We live in a time where it's easy to get overloaded, put a lot on our plates, hustle, get overwhelmed, and then burnt out! In today's episode, I share what I've been up to over the past 3 months. I've taken a pause. I chose to take everything OFF my plate and examine what was in my life, what my purpose and mission are, and what I want to intentionally put back onto my plate so I am aligned with the things that matter most. It's been an amazing process for me, and I'm still doing it. But, It also has forced me to look at my time, capacity, demands, desires, etc. It's refreshing and empowering to be intentional about what happiness and success look like, and then go about creating it to be long-term and sustainable. This episode is simply sharing my journey over the past 3 months in doing this, and I give you some tips and ideas in case you want to do it for yourselves. Simplicity... Intention... Letting Go... Love... Service...Transformation. Growth... Enjoy!! Hey - We've only got 1 spot left for our amazing Vibrant Living Hawaiian Health and Healing Retreat on October 17-22! We live in a world that feels intense a lot of the time. If you are a sensitive person, you likely feel the energy of what is going on. There is a lot of shifting. We can either be flexible and move along with the shifting and evolving or stay stuck in frustration with everything and fight it! The definition of an empath is someone who feels the emotions, feelings, energy, and even thoughts of others. Empaths are highly sensitive people, who tend to also take on the emotions of others. It's actually a beautiful spiritual gift, but sometimes it doesn't always feel like that. In this episode, we are going to talk about being an Empath, what that means, and what to do about it!! Would you like to participate in my new group coaching program - "Becoming"? Just go to www.stacyharmer/becoming for more info. and to put your name on the list! Coming soon!!
Self-care and rest isn't just a nice thing to do, it's ESSENTIAL! After feeling pretty exhausted this week after working for months on the Vibrant Living Wellness Conference, I thought it would be worth digging into the importance of REST and SLEEP! It is definitely a fundamental that affects so many other things in our life. It's harder to have the energy to move and exercise when you are tired. It's harder to eat well when you are tired. It's harder to be positive and happy when you are tired. In this episode, we'll be talking about the power of sleep and rest and WHY IT IS SO NECESSARY!!
The definition of “Becoming” in the dictionary “is to pass from one state to another”. It's all about growth and change. We are on a journey of BECOMING…..transforming…….progressing…...evolving……to the next best version of ourselves! In this episode, I'll share the S.Y.S.T.E.M. (Save Your Self Time Energy and Money) steps, and habits that we can implement to create that SUSTAINABLE change! Do you want to join us for our next Vibrant Living Health and Healing Retreat?? Well - This is the last of Gottman's 7 Principles to Make Marriage Work! It's the icing on the cake - Creating Shared Meaning! If your marriage adheres to the first six principles, there's a good chance that your relationship is stable and happy. But if you find yourself asking, "Is this all there is?", you may be missing a deeper sense of shared meaning. Marriage isn't just about raising kids, splitting chores, and physical intimacy. It can also have a spiritual dimension that is rich and meaningful and has to do with creating an inner life together. It's creating those rituals and an appreciation for your roles and goals that lead you to what it means to be a part of the family you have created. Welcome to this last episode of the Gottman Principles. I'll also be reviewing each of the 7 principles, the 4 Horsemen of the Apocolypse, and the Magic 6 Hours for your happy marriage maintenance weekly!! Don't forget to grab your early bird tickets. Prices increase after May 5! www.vibrantlivingwellnessconference.com
In this episode, we'll be discussing the 6th Principle - Overcoming Gridlock when trying to resolve conflicts. Most of the conflicts you'll experience in marriage are perpetual (66% in fact according to Gottman)- meaning they may be with you for decades or more, but you can learn ways to overcome the gridlock and open the conversation to working together to compromise and create dialogue to move forward. Learn the steps to work through gridlock and create meaning and discover each other's hidden dreams! Don't forget to grab your early bird tickets to our upcoming Vibrant Living Wellness Conference! www.vibrantlivingwellnessconference.com
Every marriage is a union between two separate individuals who bring to it their own opinions, personality quirks, and values. So it's no wonder that even in very happy marriages the husband and wife must cope with a number of issues. Some conflicts are just minor irritants, but others can seem very complex and intense. Often couples feel stuck in conflict and may distance themselves from each other as a protective device. Dr. Gottman found that all conflicts really fall into one of two categories: Either they can be resolved, or they are perpetual, which means they will be a part of your lives forever, in some form or another. Welcome to the human experience!! In this podcast, I will be sharing ways to solve your solvable problems!! Don't forget to catch the early bird pricing for our Vibrant Living Wellness Conference on May 14! www.vibrantlivingwellnesconference.com
In this episode, we'll be discussing the 4th Principle - Let Your Partner Influence You! What does it mean to let your spouse influence you? It's when we respect and honor each other's opinions and feelings. It's understanding that for a marriage to thrive, we have to share the driver's seat. In Dr. Gottman's long-term study of 130 newlywed couples, he has found that men who allow their wives to influence them have happier marriages and are less likely to divorce than men who resist their wives' influence. Statistically speaking, when a man is not willing to share power with his partner, there is an 81 percent chance that his marriage will self-destruct. Come learn to share the driver's seat and be influenced by your spouse. Tickets are selling for our Vibrant Living Wellness Conference! Come join us on May 14 in Sandy Utah! In this episode, we'll be discussing the 3rd Principle - Turning Towards Your Spouse. When you need attention, support, and comfort from your partner, you are likely to say something or make a gesture to elicit a response from them. This is what the Gottmans call a “bid.” Your spouse turns toward that bid when they reply with what you need. When we turn away or against each other, that spells disaster for any relationship. In this episode, I share ways to build up your emotional bank account and what Gottman has found through his research as the magic 6 hours - What you can do every week to strengthen your marriage! Everyone loves to hear something nice about themselves, and it means the most when it comes from your spouse. Sharing fondness and admiration is simply vocalizing the characteristics that you appreciate. Dr. Gottman says this principle - Fondness and admiration are two of the most crucial elements in a rewarding and long-lasting romance. In this episode, I share action items and exercises you can work on. Enjoy!
As a Gottman-trained workshop leader, I decided over the next 7 episodes to take one principle from his 7 Principles to Make Marriage Work program and share on my podcast. We will start with the first principle - Building Love Maps. Essentially, Love Maps are how couples can stay curious about one another. It's asking questions to explore each other's inner world. As you both ask questions and take notice of the little things, you start to build a mental map of who your partner is—their likes and dislikes, hurts and hopes, and everything that makes them who they are. It's the foundation of a "Sound Relationship House". By creating and building Love Maps, we deepen friendships. Come join us for this discussion, and I'll be sharing action items you can work on this week to build your Love Maps! Don't forget to save the date of May 14 for our Vibrant Living Wellness Conference. Registration coming soon!
I just returned home from a getaway with my husband - celebrating 36 years of marriage!! Since strengthening marriage has been on my mind and since I'm a Gottman Trained Leader for their 7 Principles to Make Marriage Work Workshop, I thought I'd focus and share these principles on my weekly show and podcast today and over the next 7 episodes - focusing on one principle each week. In today's episode, I share about the research behind Gottman's substantiated studies claiming he can predict divorce with 91% accuracy. But his goal was not necessarily to predict divorce. His goals and desires were to help couples find out what actually does work to make successful and happy marriages. He's come up with 7 key principles that are essential to having a happy and successful marriage. In this episode, we also address the 4 Horseman of the Apocolypse in Marriage: Criticism, Contempt, Defensiveness, and Stonewalling. Come learn the antidote and secret weapon to those. I came upon a post this week that I loved. It read, "If you see a married couple still in love through the years, you may think how lucky they are. But in marital relations, there's no such thing as luck. They made many compromises. They overlooked each other's faults. They forgave many mistakes and endured many problems. They spent years learning to understand one another. Love has never been a matter of luck. It's mutual giving, compromise, shared dreams, care, respect, mercy, and patience." Lastly, mark your calendar and save the date for our Vibrant Living Wellness Conference - May 14 in Sandy, Utah!! More details coming soon!!
