199. I ask a simple question: Is your routine helping you or holding you back? After my dog Bentley was attacked by an off-leash dog, my trainer Gia suggested something counterintuitive—shake up the routine. The result? More calm, more confidence, and a creative surge for both of us. In today's episode, I share how intentional unpredictability can unlock energy, clarity, and a refreshed leadership identity. In this episode, I share: Why routines soothe the nervous system—and when they become cages instead of containers Four subtle signs your routine is quietly holding you back How one small, conscious change can ignite fresh energy, creativity, and confidence The difference between joy and the dopamine hit of achievement (and why it matters) Try this: Change one thing—time of your walk/coffee, your desk placement, or your morning practice order—and notice what your body tells you. Today I sit down with Nicole Adey for a raw and honest chat about energy as life currency, burnout, and why quitting your job (or moving house) doesn't magically refill your tank. Nicole shares her Energy Allocation Audit, a simple but powerful way to see how much of your daily juice is being siphoned off by the past, drained by the future, and actually left for right now. We talk boundaries, self-worth, low-hanging fruit, and why canceling plans might be the healthiest thing you do this week. In this episode, we discuss: Why energy is the currency most people ignore until it's gone. How trauma and unprocessed grief sneak into your “battery life.” The “today problem” filter to cut rumination in its tracks. Why it's not selfish to put yourself first, it's survival. Autumn doesn't mess about. The trees don't cling onto leaves that are past their time, they drop them. And that's exactly the lesson most of us need in business right now. Because let's be honest: some of the things you're still carrying? They're dead weight... Offers that make your stomach sink. Clients you secretly hope will cancel. Marketing that feels like punishment. Processes and tools you hate but keep because someone told you they were 'smart.' In this episode, I'm walking you through a 'perfect for this time of year' energy audit. We're going to look at what feeds you vs. what drains you. Here are your three journaling prompts to get brutally honest about what stays, what goes, and what you're ready to release this autumn... 1. What in my business genuinely lights me up? 2. What's draining me, and why have I been holding onto it? 3. What is one thing that I'm ready to release this autumn to create more space and energy? Everything in life carries energy, as humans, we each have a unique vibration that makes us who we are. Some people have naturally high energy, some vibe lower, but we're all prone to energy dips from time to time. While these fluctuations are perfectly normally, we occasionally need help pulling ourselves out of an energetic slump. As we wander through the woods, take note of your energy in this moment. If your vibration feels lower than you'd like, consider how your practice might support your overall state of being. The mission is to keep girls in school and stop teenage marriages, because school isn't free in over 50 countries around the world and when parents have to make the difficult choices of feeding their kids or paying for school, food wins. And when the girls hit their teen years, they will often be married off so that someone else becomes responsible to feed them. Educating girls also grows the GDP of countries, when they get into the workforce. This is how together, we can change the world. Guests on this podcast are invited to donate to this important cause. This isn't about perfection or productivity for the sake of it. It's about pausing long enough to notice what your spirit's really asking for… and responding with intention. In this episode, Tracy explores how independent healthcare practice owners can leverage small wellness initiatives as powerful demonstrations of leadership. Against the backdrop of unprecedented challenges in healthcare—from high turnover to political pressures—she reveals how intentional wellness practices create disproportionate returns for small practices. Unlike large healthcare systems, small practices have a "leadership proximity advantage" that makes even modest wellness initiatives more effective. Tracy shares practical, low-cost approaches that strengthen team culture, improve retention, and ultimately create more sustainable practices. The episode highlights how leadership presence, rather than elaborate programs, is the true foundation of practice wellbeing. Episode Highlights: Why small practices have a distinct advantage in implementing effective wellness initiatives A simple 20-minute weekly wellness activity that costs nothing but delivers remarkable results Five mindset practices that integrate wellness into everyday leadership How to measure the ROI of wellness initiatives through reduced absenteeism and improved engagement The critical connection between a leader's own sustainable energy and team wellness Memorable Quotes: "Culture isn't a workshop we attend. It's about the example we set." "The most successful practice owners know that wellness isn't about implementing a program—it's about investing in your most valuable asset: your people." "Small, consistent wellness actions may seem insignificant compared to the daily operations of your practice, but they can completely redirect your practice culture." "The practices that consistently outperform, even in challenging times, aren't necessarily the ones with the most resources—they're the ones led by owners who understand that how they show up matters more than what they say." "You can't pour from an empty cup. The foundation of any successful team wellness initiative is your own sustainable energy as a leader." Time management isn't just another business skill—it's the cornerstone of thriving as a mom entrepreneur. Drawing from my experience juggling four children, multiple businesses, and the ever-present quest for personal fulfillment, this episode delivers actionable strategies to reclaim control of your schedule. The game-changing approach we explore isn't about cramming more into each day. Instead, it's about strategic time-blocking that aligns with your natural rhythms and priorities. I share my personal framework: reserving Mondays and Fridays for family and self-care, while dedicating mid-week days to content creation, client work, and team management. This simple shift transforms scattered productivity into purposeful progress. The MIT Rule (Most Important Tasks) revolutionizes how you approach each day by identifying just three high-impact priorities that deserve your undivided attention. Combined with the Pomodoro Technique and strategic delegation, these methods create breathing room in even the most chaotic schedule. I've helped countless women implement these systems, and the universal response is always: "Why didn't I start this years ago?"Perhaps most importantly, we tackle the challenging skill of saying "no" without guilt—arguably the most underrated productivity hack for overwhelmed entrepreneurs. Remember that protecting your time isn't selfish; it's essential to showing up fully for what matters most. Which of these strategies will you implement first?
