Have you ever passively sugar coated your needs in a hidden way or being on the receiving end of trying to figure out the missing puzzle piece? We've all been there! Passive aggression is one of the most frustrating (yet most common) behaviors to see because it can be so hard to pin down and ultimately fix. Lindsey and Amber discuss a few tips that you can use to nudge your friend, loved one, or colleague to interact with you in a more productive, straightforward way. 1. Don't label them as "passive aggressive." 2. Focus on the content, not the delivery. 3. Figure out what the other person cares about. 4. Call attention to what's happening. 5. Mitch is an all-American guy who was living the all-American dream and unbelievably, he walked away from it in pursuit of something greater. In today's episode, Lindsey and Amber question the real price of our modern, hustle-at-all-cost business culture. Something quite toxic has happened to the American Dream - it seems to glorify being a workhorse so you can fill your house with things without any consideration for quality of life. From the Archives: This Season 1 #throwback involves discussion about the Leandro Case and the human right to learn. Guest Speaker Jenice Ramirez joins us from Durham, NC where she serves as the Executive Director for a nonprofit that builds community and leadership through educational Spanish language and cultural immersion programs. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, only 20 percent of Americans can converse in two or more languages, compared with 56 percent of Europeans. Experts estimate that at least half of the human race is bilingual. Jenice discusses the value of cultural immersion programs and bilingualism in America and why education is a priceless investment to achieve equity and equality in the United States. Perhaps the rest of us might reconsider our pride in knowing only one language, or at least stop drawing attention to the gap between us (N. Americans) and humanity in general.* *Shout out to Jay Mathews of Washington Post for his words of wisdom on the topic of bilingualism in America.  —- Share Your Story! Financial abuse can affect anyone. It often takes place where there is an unequal balance of power. The Care Act 2014 describes ‘financial abuse' as a type of abuse which includes having money or other property stolen, being defrauded, being put under pressure in relation to money or other property and having money or other property misused. Narcissists often use money as a tool for punishment. They may reward you financially when you do what they want, and then withhold money when they feel vindictive. This can feel unsafe, degrading and confusing. We believe that financial literacy is a gateway toward empowerment and peace of mind. Overall, financial empowerment is about helping others live better lives, and that is the ultimate mission of Guest Speaker and Financial Consultant Victoria McGruder, CPA & CPWA®. As the Founder of FinPowered Female, Victoria educates laypeople (like you and me) on how to take ownership of their financial lives. From how to build a basic budget to understanding the value of high index funds, Victoria teaches people how to find a balance between living well today and building wealth for tomorrow. Sadly, we often treat ourselves in ways that we'd never treat others so what will it take to bring more compassion to ourselves? Self-love and self-compassion are more than soaking in a hot tub, or getting a massage, or buying ourselves flowers. Although these things might help, self-compassion is an inner job. It has to do with how we hold ourselves and relate to our feelings. It means finding the strength and resilience to embrace the full range of our human emotions. It means finding inner resources so that we can gently embrace our feelings rather than meet them with aversion or judgments. Being human means wrestling with uncomfortable emotions and choosing self-love in spite of discomfort. Lindsey + Amber discuss the right to be loved and “the pursuit of happiness” through a self-compassionate lens free of judgement. Vulnerability comes with big risks and big rewards. It's messy! By putting ourselves out there, we might make a mess of our reputations or even lose our friends; on the other hand, we might be embraced by others and find a beautiful sense of belonging. Lindsey + Amber review tips on how to have a vulnerable conversation and explore the roles and responsibilities of the messenger (sender of communication) vs. the listener (receiver of communication). As Michelle Obama once said, "If we can open up a little bit more to each other and share our stories, our real stories, that's what breaks down barriers. But in order to do that, you have to believe that your story has value. Be vulnerable. Dare to be vulnerable." How do we close out Season 1 of a Passion Project that took us into a direction that we never expected?! We CELEBRATE, of course!!! Lindsey and Amber celebrate their birthday month (Happy Birthday Fellow Leos!) by closing out Season 1 with episode number 33 as they wrap-up their 33rd year of life, and reflect on what has been an adventurous year of change, flow, bravery, and courage to step into the unknown world of podcasting. We discuss life behind the scenes, favorite episodes, what we've learned, where we're going, and so much more! For anyone who cares to learn more about numerology, 33 is regarded as a Master Number because of its immense power. It resonates with the energies of compassion, blessings, inspiration, honesty, discipline, bravery and courage. Number 33 tells us that 'all things are possible' and symbolizes 'guidance'. We look forward to connecting with you in September when we kickoff Season 2! ------- Share Your Story! Breakups + Starting Over

Lindsey and Guest Co-Host Lauren Diaz get vulnerable and engage in a raw, real, and uncut discussion about their divorce journeys and starting over. Whether you initiated the breakup, you've been broken up with, or a breakup was mutual, ending a relationship can cause all kinds of emotions, including sadness, confusion, anger, and even sometimes relief. While there is no one right way to feel after a breakup, grieving the loss is a completely normal experience. The eventual goal is to move toward acceptance so that you can again focus your attention on your own life and future. That doesn't mean you need to be happy about the breakup, but it does mean allowing the anger or sadness to pass so you can experience a new beginning and move into the next chapter of your life. Journaling Prompts: How did this relationship make me feel about myself? What can I learn from how this relationship started, and how it ended? Is there anything from this relationship that I want to have again in my next relationship? Is there anything from this relationship that I don't want in my next relationship? Was this a healthy and psychologically safe relationship, or have I romanticized it now that we're not together? Relationships are a two-way street. Answering these questions honestly will help you figure out what you want out of a relationship, how to find someone who best fits your needs, and how to be a supportive partner to someone else.
