The Psychic and The Doc - Your Practical Paranormal Power Unleashed
In this Season 5 finale of Persistence U with Lizbeth, Lizbeth shares a deeply personal reflection on generosity, survival, and why she is stepping back from weekly episodes to make space for writing, teaching, and other creative work. As she approaches the podcast's fifth anniversary, she looks back with gratitude at the listeners, guests, patrons, and community members who helped shape nearly five years of conversations about healing, persistence, and overcoming obstacles.Lizbeth recounts two times in her early life when she and her daughters were lifted up by strangers during the holidays. After leaving an abusive marriage, entering a shelter, and relying on food stamps and Section 8 housing, she was adopted by a holiday giving program that provided gifts, food, and a sense of dignity during a season that had otherwise felt heavy with fear and uncertainty. Years earlier, while pregnant and struggling under financial and emotional control, her friend Shelly arranged for anonymous support through her faith community. These acts of kindness, offered by people who never knew her name, helped restore hope during the most fragile years of her life. Those moments stayed with her. They were part of what fueled her determination to finish college, break cycles of poverty and violence, and raise her daughters in safety. They also shaped her belief that generosity—financial or otherwise—can change the trajectory of a family in ways the giver may never see.As the holiday season arrives and Season 5 concludes, Lizbeth encourages listeners to consider giving in whatever way they are able. Monetary donations to food banks, adopting a family through local programs, offering time or blood donation, or simply finding a way to lighten someone else's load may be the most meaningful gift of the season. Volunteering, she reminds listeners, is often both selfless and deeply restorative.Lizbeth also shares an important programming update. After nearly five years of producing Persistence U with a full roster of guests, she is pausing the guested format. The financial and time commitments are substantial, and she is ready to reclaim more space for writing, reading, teaching, and restorative quiet. This is not a goodbye. Persistence U will return with occasional, limited-series episodes. She simply needs time to breathe, create, and be present in her own life for a while.Listeners are encouraged to stay connected through heLizbeth's links Want to comment on the show? Send us a textThis Thanksgiving week on Beach Talk, Betsey Newenhuyse and I pause to reflect on what keeps us grounded and grateful in turbulent times. Retirement gives us the space to see the big picture, and family, friends, and caring neighbors remind us we're never alone. We're grateful for like-minded resisters, meaningful conversations, and the freedom to speak up. Experience tells us storms pass, truth still matters, and a new generation is rising to shape what comes next. Acts of everyday kindness continue to defy the headlines. And through it all, hope endures—rooted in community, clarity, and the power we still hold together.Support the showBecome a Patron - Click on the link to learn how you can become a Patron of the show. This update episode is with Wayne. I got to know Wayne through interviewing him a number of times over 2019 and despite the disruption of the pandemic, I'd still see Wayne occasionally around the office at various Circle of Friends gatherings. But over the last few years, I've been seeing less and less of Wayne. At the end of this episode, he'll explain why. He also makes an unusual request.Undercurrents is sponsored in part by Kindred Credit UnionTheme song by Brian MacmillanArtwork by Jesse Bergen

In this episode of the Jewish Inspiration Podcast, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe continues in the Orchot Tzaddikim (Day 105, page 615), summarizing the first 12 daily remembrances—Hashem creating us from nothing, granting health, wisdom, Torah, mercy, repentance, and constant closeness—before introducing four more. The 13th urges recognizing when our wisdom and wealth exceed our deeds: if blessed with intellect or money, we must act accordingly now, not delay with “when I earn more, then I'll give.” Rabbi Wolbe shares a young donor who gave $130,000 already toward a $250,000 goal and a Shabbat table debate on lottery winnings, exposing how the yetzer hara pushes charity to “later.” The 14th teaches greeting everyone with a warm smile (sever panim yafot), as water reflects a face, so does the heart (Mishlei 27:19); his great-grandfather perfected this trait for two years despite personal suffering. The 15th reminds us to prepare for the World to Come like stocking a pantry or travel food—accumulate mitzvot, kindness, and Torah, as we don't know when our time ends. The 16th stresses the soul's purity: strong, healthy people die suddenly because Hashem reclaims His “deposit.” Like collateral or a leased car, life is lent; we must keep the soul pristine, repenting daily “one day before death” (as tomorrow may be it). Rabbi Wolbe likens life's ups and downs to a living EKG—flatlines are dead—urging us to embrace curveballs, swing hard, and turn tough days into home runs.Recorded at TORCH Centre in the Levin Family Studios (B) to a live audience on April 7, 2025, in Houston, Texas.Released as Podcast on November 18, 2025_____________This series on Orchos Tzadikim/Ways of the Righteous is produced in partnership with Hachzek.Join the revolution of daily Mussar study at hachzek.com.We are using the Treasure of Life edition of the Orchos Tzadikkim (Published by Feldheim)_____________Listen, Subscribe & Share: Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/jewish-inspiration-podcast-rabbi-aryeh-wolbe/id1476610783Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4r0KfjMzmCNQbiNaZBCSU7) to stay inspired! At the start of this year Hamilton's Herman Jagpal set himself an ambitious goal - to share 365 days of kindness. Each day he asks someone at random to help him with a fun task, that could be handing out flowers or inviting strangers to dinner. He documents the whole process on Instagram as "Daily Rejection". Where he noticed a regular comment was "This would only work in New Zealand" So, to see if that's true, today he sets off on a 30-day world tour.
