Shira Cohen- Yoga therapist & writer
Let's get straight into the practice of deep wisdom, beauty and power and re-awaken our inner peace and ability to positively impact our world.
The movement of our mental health and social surroundings, from one extreme to the other, requires pendulation before we discover the middle ground, the healthy path of the new in unknown and unwalked territory. Sitting with the anxiety, discomfort and uncertainty of this change is the work we need to reclaim peace, wisdom and our human goodness.
So many people feel lost, lonely, isolated and anxious at the moment, partially due to uncertainty, partially due to left hemisphere overdrive, partly due to censorship and extreme abstrations of com-part-mentalising a complex reality. The mind that tries to know, control, manipulate and break apart, greatly distorts the cohesive manifacted whole that at our hearts we know we are, come from, yearn for and strive from to create meaningful relationships. The simple heart exercise of Namaste helps us realign with our true nature, reconnecting to self to relate healthfully. Philosophy and psychology from my book Reclaiming Our Wellbeing
Our loss of joy, pleasure and playfulness has become chronic culturally and seeps into every aspect of our lives. It's time we take back our sense of sacredness and enjoy the beauty of Life, and ourselves as part of the Play. We need to wake up, open our eyes, mouths and stand up for what we know is ours! Reclaiming Our Wellbeing - Shira Cohen Pieter Omtzigt Iain McGilchrist and Dr Schipper
Top-down versus bottom-up is similar to Iain McGilchrist's left and right hemisphere work. We need both but there is a definite imbalance which needs our active attention and action!

And how we have choices. We discuss the neural necessity of context, wholeness and relativity. Summer holiday full of space, calm and spirituality have me filled with confidence and reserves of joy and freshness! The new is essential to breathing life into the old. Seeing and feeling without bias through meditative and contemplative practices gives us back the space we require to embrace life more fully. Science is a basis for the profound study of the essence of life, but can never reveal more fully what we intuitively already know, that life without devoting some aspect of life to the divine leaves our lives feeling meaningless and without direction or worth, and in that void science can and does lead to dogma.
