We often think of healing as an individual journey—going inward to process unresolved trauma, grief, and pain from our past. But what about collective trauma, grief, and pain? We rarely consider the healing that must take place beyond ourselves, addressing the unprocessed wounds we carry as a community. True healing requires creating safety both within and around us, allowing us to move beyond our personal experiences and contribute to something greater than our own individual worlds. On today's episode, we're joined by embodiment facilitator, political organizer, therapist, and podcast host, Prentis Hemphill. As the founder of The Embodiment Institute and The Black Embodiment Initiative, and host of Becoming The People, Prentis brings deep wisdom and presence to the conversation. They sit down with Elisabeth and Jennifer for a powerful discussion on healing in community, the role of embodiment in collective transformation, and the challenges of accountability. Prentis also shares invaluable insights on navigating fear, processing collective grief, and staying grounded in truth—especially when sharing your gifts with the world on a larger scale. On Trauma Rewired, often discuss how embodiment and healing requires repetition, practice, and safe spaces. It also takes courage—especially when facilitating collective healing. Prentis embodies this work in a profound way, so don't miss today's episode to hear their insights and much more! Dr. Mishra provides an in-depth analysis of how environmental disasters like wildfires contribute to collective trauma, impacting entire communities with symptoms such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and cognitive dysfunctions, including decision-making challenges and difficulty maintaining focus. Drawing from her research, Dr. Mishra explains how the brain's threat response, often referred to as "fire brain," becomes hyper-aroused in the aftermath of trauma, leading to short-term and long-term psychological and neurological effects. This episode offers practical strategies for mental health professionals and community leaders to address climate trauma effectively. Dr. Mishra highlights the importance of interventions such as psychological first aid, mindfulness practices, and physical activity to build resilience during the acute and chronic phases of recovery. She also explores the role of eco-therapy in helping survivors reconnect with nature to promote healing and discusses the need for community-wide approaches to address collective trauma. For clinicians, this conversation offers evidence-informed insights into understanding and treating the unique mental health challenges posed by climate-related disasters. We're so excited to share this milestone with you and we're incredibly grateful to all of our listeners for their continued support.  In this episode, Thomas Hübl explores the concept of relational presence, an essential component of healing personal and collective trauma and nurturing healthy and fulfilling relationships in our lives. Thomas shares the fundamentals of presence, why it's such an important element of the way we communicate, and how we can learn to co-regulate and resonate with the people in our lives. By learning and practicing these skills, we're building our capacity to form safe, coherent spaces that serve as the primary tool for trauma integration. When we train to see our own filters and unconscious areas, we can create an environment that supports collective healing.   ✨ Registration is open for Thomas' all-new course, The Ancestral Healing Code. It's significant that UW-Madison is a predominantly white institution in the Midwest of the United States because the Hmong student experiences that Chundou explores is of racism in all its forms – from stereotypical ideas about model minorities, to its links to sexism, and to the many microaggressions common on campus. In this episode, Chundou imagines multiple, parallel worlds where layers of universes simultaneously fold into each other. This may be interpreted as a form of dissociation, but it could also be understood as a space for collective healing. https://freshedpodcast.com/flux-her/ -- Today's episode was created, written, and produced by Chundou Her. In this conversation, I had the honor of speaking with Yeye Teish. We explored the current state of the world and the importance of holding onto hope, even in challenging times. Yeye expressed her concerns about the rise of dictatorships and the threat of global control, emphasizing the need for spiritual activism. She spoke about the power of women's intuition and our role in restoring balance to the world. We also discussed the deep need to reconnect with nature and the feminine, and the importance of standing up for the Earth. Yeye shared simple rituals to honor water, reminding us of its sacred connection to life and spirituality. Finally, Yeye invited us to support the work of the School of Ancient Mysteries and the Sacred Arts Center. This conversation was filled with wisdom and inspiration—may it resonate with you as it did with me.

Thomas dives deep into the foundational principles of collective healing, exploring the challenges of individual healing and the profound benefits of healing from trauma within a safe and supportive group. He shares how the intimacy and closeness of group healing spaces enable participants to be more open and present, which facilitates a coherent and resonant experience for all involved. In these settings, the healing of the individual is amplified by the attention and emotional feedback of the group, and vice versa. Thomas also explores how this concept can be scaled up, and how what he calls “collective witnessing” could be the key to integrating and healing the wounds of the past so that our societies can imagine and create a better world for the future together.   ✨ Introducing Love, Trauma, and Relationships - a special course collaboration with Terry Real. Over 12 self-paced modules, you'll learn practices to heal past wounds and more deeply connect with yourself, your partner, and the world at large, allowing you to break down the barriers to true intimacy. Enjoy two complete, online courses from Thomas and couples therapy expert Terry Real.
