“'You said that He is indeed everywhere, so why can He not be seen in this pillar? If I do see that Vishnu right now in the middle of the pillar, then I will not kill you. Otherwise, you will be divided into two.' Having seen (his father) in that way, Prahlada began to meditate on that Supreme Lord.” (Narasimha Purana, 44.10-11)

Your thumbs up goes a long way.Every spiritual tradition hands you a map. Patanjali's eight limbs. Teresa of Avila's Interior Castle. The Four Noble Truths. Lojong mind training. But here's the question nobody asks: What good is the map if you don't know how to drive a car?In this episode, Stephan and Adam dig into what spiritual maps are really for, and when staring at one becomes the obstacle itself. They get into why discipline and restraint are the most skipped steps in Western spirituality, what actually happens when the surface mind quiets down (hint: it's not peace), and why the why behind your emotions matters less than you think.Topics covered:Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the eight limbs, and yogas chitta vritti nirodhaLojong mind training and transforming difficulty into the pathTeresa of Avila's Interior Castle and the non-linear nature of the journeySengcan's Hsin Hsin Ming, the Zen case for dropping preferences entirelyA Course in Miracles on forgiveness as stillnessWhy Neo-Advaita can leave you stuckQuestions, topic ideas, or books you want us to read: letterstotheskypodcast@gmail.com00:00 Back After Hiatus00:21 Lost Episode Story01:20 Do We Need A Map?02:57 What Counts As A Map?05:50 Different Destinations09:09 Map Versus Road11:04 Spiritual Stages And Ego14:13 Inner Roads Of Practice16:09 Ethics As Foundation26:54 Meditation Clicks Over Time30:48 Quiet Mind Brings Pain34:21 Therapy Versus Inquiry35:41 Why Knowing Why Fails36:51 Karma Reincarnation Context39:17 View Path Fruit Framework42:40 Mind Training Maps45:15 Shoes Frustration Practice48:54 Feel Fully Drop Resistance53:22 Forgiveness No Preferences01:00:34 Signs of Progress01:04:17 Map Question Wrap UpSupport the showCopyright 2026 by Letters to the Sky

What makes a home truly beautiful? Why do modern luxury spaces feel so impersonal? And what does it mean to live in harmony with nature in today's world? In this deeply reflective episode of Not Your Aunty, Shunali Shroff sits down with legendary designer and self-taught architect Pinakin Patel for a conversation that goes far beyond architecture. From walking away from the family petrochemical business to building some of India's most iconic homes, Pinakin shares stories about creativity, patronage, art collecting, Alibaug, Advaita philosophy, sustainability, and the disappearance of permanence in modern life. He speaks candidly about: Why today's luxury apartments all look the same The problem with glass buildings and “Pinterest homes” His journey into architecture without formal training Working with powerful patrons like the Bajaj and Emami families Art becoming a commodity Why nature should shape our homes—not the other way around Living a quieter life in Alibaug And his beautiful definition of luxury This episode is thoughtful, philosophical, funny, and deeply relevant to the times we live in.
29th April 2026In this Satsang, Sanjay led a spiritual gathering focused on Advaita (non-duality) teachings, emphasizing that the true self is Brahman—unchanging, pure awareness beyond body and mind. Multiple participants shared devotional songs about Ramana Maharshi and Arunachala, reinforcing the magnetic pull of spiritual seeking. The session concluded with teachings on dispassion after realization and living in harmony with divine energy rather than ego-driven desires. These are teachings and pointers from ongoing NDA(Non-duality awareness)/Advaitic Satsangs held at Bhagavan Ramana Maharshi Centre in Melbourne, Australia.
Send me your thoughts in a Text MessageIn this episode of Awakening Now, I speak with Greg Goode about self-inquiry and what is actually being seen through.Greg Goode is a nonduality teacher and author with a background in philosophy. He is known for his clear and structured approach to inquiry, guiding people to look directly at experience and question what seems obvious — especially the sense of being a separate self.In our conversation, we explore a simple but often overlooked shift: seeing is not about finding truth or adopting a new perspective, but about recognizing and deconstructing what is false. We look at how the sense of self appears, how it is reinforced through thought, and why it can feel so real even when examined closely. This is a grounded and practical conversation — an invitation to look, rather than to believe.More from Greg:https://radiuspress.org/greggoode/His latest book, Enlightening the Physical World, explores the nature of matter through both philosophy and direct experience:https://radiuspress.org/enlightening-the-physical-world-investigating-matter-with-berkeley-and-the-direct-path/Direct Path playlist with Terry Moore:https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLf0MTUdIZxcwgcyMSNTyeDHvwmaOg2w8KMusic by Valdi Sabev. In loving memory and gratitude for the music he shared.Support the showWebsiteshttp://ilonaciunaite.comhttp://liberationunleashed.com

He was once a teacher of non-duality interviewed on Buddha at the Gas Pump, giving talks in the Netherlands, and deeply immersed in the world of non-dual awakening. Now, he's one of its most articulate critics. Dr. Michael Damian is a clinical psychologist working in the Jungian tradition and the author of The Art of Freedom: A Guide to Awakening (2017). In this conversation, we explore his personal awakening experience, what drew him to non-dual teaching, and what ultimately disillusioned him. From the self-denying logic of Neo-Advaita to the dogmatism he encountered in teachers like Rupert Spira, Dr. Damian speaks candidly about the psychological harm he has witnessed when people use spiritual frameworks to bypass inner work. We also discuss Jungian psychology, the puer aeternus archetype (Peter Pan Syndrome) , near-death experiences, God, self-actualization, and what it means to do the work. Topics covered: Dr. Damian's awakening experience — nirvikalpa samadhi, kriyas, and what came after. How he became a non-dual teacher and why he walked away. The difference between Advaita, Neo-Advaita, and qualified non-dualism (Vishishtadvaita). Why "awareness cures suffering" is, in his words, absolute BS. The puer aeternus pattern and spiritual bypassing. Near-death experiences and what they reveal about God and the soul. Jungian self-actualization — shadow, persona, and psychological wholeness. How belief systems help or harm us. What real one-on-one therapeutic work looks like.

An IIT graduate and MIT researcher, Ashish brings a unique data-driven and logical perspective to the study of ancient Indian history and the Vedas. This episode bridges the gap between modern data mapping and the timeless wisdom of the Rigveda. In this conversation with Ashish, we explore the fascinating "Ashish Line" - a diagonal divide across India revealed through data and its historical, genetic, and cultural roots. We dive deep into the world of the Rigveda, focusing on the supremacy of Lord Indra, his symbolism as the deity of excellence and desire, and his systematic "demotion" in later Puranic texts. This episode also covers the legendary War of Ten Kings (Dasharajna War), the evolution of Vedic deities like Rudra (Shiva) and Vishnu, and a detailed breakdown of the Four Tiers of Indian Philosophy: from the "Easy Mode" of Bhakti to the "Advanced Mode" of Advaita Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism. This podcast is a valuable resource for anyone interested in Vedic Research, Ancient Indian History, Data Science, Lord Indra, Sanatan Dharma, and the evolution of Indian Culture and Philosophy.(00:00) – Start of the episode(02:08) – Mapping India via Data(03:13) – The "Ashris Line" Explained(06:22) – Civilization's Eastward Shift(12:31) – When were the Vedas written?(15:10) – 5 Secret Language Families(20:13) – Why Gen Z needs History(25:10) – Why we forgot Lord Indra(31:00) – Soma: The Vedic "Ayahuasca"(33:52) – Success & Desire in Vedas(39:05) – Bhagavad Gita vs Rigveda(45:05) – The War of 10 Kings(51:12) – Origins of Shiva & Vishnu(1:15:24) – 4 Tiers of Indian Philosophy(1:18:16) – Ancient Scientific Logic(1:24:04) – Buddhism, Jainism & Atheism(1:31:49) – Advaita & Kashmir Shaivism(1:40:04) – The Vedic Afterlife(1:53:56) – Pursuit of Greatness(2:00:40) – End of the episode

Send me your thoughts in a Text MessageIn this episode of Awakening Now, I speak with Ananta Kranti about awakening and what the word actually points to.When Ananta first began sharing this message, awakening was described very simply — waking up from the dream of being a separate self. Today, the word is used in many different ways, and this can create confusion about what is being pointed to.We explore how the message has evolved over time, and what can be lost when the recognition of what we are becomes mixed with ideas, identities, or concepts.Ananta shares about the shift that happened while she was in prison, and how a moment of complete exhaustion and letting go revealed something that could not be taken away.We also speak about current trends in the spiritual space — the movement between recognizing awareness and working with the human experience. There is a natural place for both, and also a risk of losing clarity when the foundation is not seen directly. We look at projections onto teachers, the expectation of perfection, and the possibility of recognizing freedom exactly as life is now. This is a grounded conversation about awakening, identity, and the living recognition of what does not come and go.Music by Valdi Sabev. Is the "me" you experience every day an actual entity, or just a reflection of your conditioned experience? In this episode, Adam is joined by Reed to explore the "Sense of Me" in relation to awareness itself. Reed shares his journey from "dropping everything" and attempting biblical literal-ism to returning to these questions with a fresh, untainted perspective. Key Topics Covered: Signposts of Thought: How belief systems and conceptual frameworks carve the shape of our thoughts. Spiritual Integration: Why "fireworks and rocket ships" are less common than a slow, gradual ground of being. The Teacher Trap: A candid look at Jiddu Krishnamurti, the "entertainment" of spiritual teachings, and the Jim Newman vs. Sam Harris debate. Identity & Personas: Reed's "master plan" to launch his music project, Numinal, by playing with the concept of fame and projection. At the heart of the conversation is a direct question: Can you actually find the “me,” or is it just a movement of thought? This dialogue touches on non-duality, Krishnamurti, Advaita, Zen, and the lived experience of awareness. www.InsideTheMindsEye.com
The supreme being of classical theism is unlimited in power, knowledge, and goodness – a being distinct from the world, who creates it out of nothing and governs it from beyond. On this picture, we are not identical with God. God's consciousness is not our consciousness – and our identity is not theirs. That picture has long been challenged by schools of Hindu philosophy and, more recently, by Western philosophies of religion that reject traditional conceptions of God. In response to the problem of evil, some philosophers now argue that if there is a creator, then that creator must be limited in power. Advaita's challenge is more radical. It doesn't just revise the traditional conception of God – it dissolves it. Where classical theism draws a sharp distinction between God and the world, Advaita says that reality is non-dual. The divine is not something separate from us or from the universe, but the underlying reality that appears as both. To explore these competing visions of the supreme being, reality, and our place within it, I'm joined by three guests. Dr. Robert Ganung, chaplain and teacher at Taft School, joins Rick to explore how deep contemplative practice can ground a life of service, justice, and education. Drawing from Celtic Christianity, Buddhism, Vedanta, and the civil rights tradition, Robert shares how daily meditation, interspiritual study, and a sense of the sacred in all beings inform his work with students and his view of a world in crisis yet ripe for awakening. They discuss non-duality and interconnection, inner practice as fuel for action, the impact of mystical experiences, near-death research, and living with love and courage amid social and planetary upheaval. The Rev. Dr. Robert Ganung is an ordained minister, educator, and school chaplain whose life and work have been shaped by a deep engagement with both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions. He holds a doctorate from the Boston University School of Theology, where his dissertation explored how the mindfulness and meditation practices taught by the Vietnamese Zen monk Thich Nhat Hanh can enrich and nourish the spiritual lives of Christians. That work grew out of years of personal practice and study, including retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh in the 1980s and 1990s, as well as a lifelong interest in contemplative spirituality. For more than four decades, Dr. Ganung has served at the intersection of education, ministry, and social justice. He is currently Chaplain at The Taft School in Connecticut, where he also teaches philosophy, ethics, world religions, and global studies, and where he has brought an extraordinary range of voices into the community—among them Cornel West, Bill McKibben, Ibram X. Kendi, Angela Davis, Tibetan monks, and many others addressing spirituality, human rights, environmental justice, and the moral challenges of our time. Earlier in his career, he served as chaplain and teacher at Milton Academy, Punahou School in Hawai‘i, and Cardigan Mountain School. During these years, he also served as a minister in the United Methodist and United Church of Christ congregations in New England and Hawai‘i. Dr. Ganung's spiritual formation has been deeply influenced by the Christian mystical tradition—figures such as Howard Thurman, Bede Griffiths, Richard Rohr, & John O'Donohue—as well as by Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism, and interfaith dialogue. Introduced to Hindu philosophy and Sufism as an undergraduate philosophy major at Boston University, he later engaged Siddha Yoga and Advaita teachings, while continuing to explore how contemplative practice leads naturally toward nonviolence, compassion, and justice in the world. The supreme being of classical theism is unlimited in power, knowledge, and goodness – a being distinct from the world, who creates it out of nothing and governs it from beyond. That picture has long been challenged by schools of Hindu philosophy and, more recently, by Western philosophies of religion that reject traditional conceptions of God. While in Seattle in the fall of 1968, Śrīla Prabhupāda introduced for the first time this song to be sung during the evening ārati ceremony. GAURA-ĀRATI by Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura (1) jaya jaya gorācānder ārotik śobhā jāhnavī-taṭa-vane jaga-mana-lobhā (2) dakhiṇe nitāicānd, bāme gadādhara nikaṭe adwaita, śrīnivāsa chatra-dhara (3) bosiyāche gorācānd ratna-siṁhāsane ārati koren brahmā-ādi deva-gaṇe (4) narahari-ādi kori' cāmara ḍhulāya sañjaya-mukunda-bāsu-ghoṣ-ādi gāya (5) śaṅkha bāje ghaṇṭā bāje bāje karatāla madhura mṛdaṅga bāje parama rasāla (6) bahu-koti candra jini' vadana ujjvala gala-deśe bana-mālā kore jhalamala (7) śiva-śuka-nārada preme gada-gada bhakativinoda dekhe gorāra sampada TRANSLATIONS (1) All glories, all glories to the beautiful ārati ceremony of Lord Caitanya! This Gaura-ārati is taking place in a grove on the banks of the Jāhnavī [Ganges] and is attracting the minds of all living entities in the universe. (2) On Lord Caitanya's right side is Lord Nityānanda, and on His left is Śrī Gadādhara. Nearby stands Śrī Advaita, and Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura is holding an umbrella over Lord Caitanya's head. (3) Lord Caitanya has sat down on a jeweled throne, and the demigods, headed by Lord Brahmā, perform the ārati ceremony. (4) Narahari Sarakāra and other associates of Lord Caitanya fan Him with cāmaras, and devotees headed by Sañjaya Paṇḍita, Mukunda Datta, and Vāsu Ghoṣa sing sweet kīrtana. (5) Conchshells, bells, and karatālas resound, and the mṛdaṅgas play very sweetly. This kīrtana music is supremely sweet and relishable to hear. (6) The brilliance of Lord Caitanya's face conquers millions upon millions of moons, and the garland of forest flowers around His neck shines. (7) Lord Śiva, Śukadeva Gosvāmī, and Nārada Muni are all there, and their voices are choked with the ecstasy of transcendental love. Thus Ṭhakura Bhaktivinoda envisions the glory of Lord Śrī Caitanya. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #gauraarti #kirtan #spiritualmusic #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose
Just this morning, we had a three-hour meeting. When's the last time you had a three-hour Zoom call? We had one this morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00, right on the dot— we started right at seven, we ended at ten. We had maybe about ten people, and it was our beginning-of-the-year brainstorming session. Vision, mission, brainstorming for 2026 and beyond: What are our next goals for distributing knowledge that's what keeps us up at night and wakes us up early in the morning: how to do good for others. This is what Advaita Ācārya did—he couldn't sleep thinking about the plight of those in the material world who didn't have the opportunity to come in contact with true knowledge. The rich people were burning their money up doing all these crazy rituals, and poor people were wasting money on intoxication and frivolous activities. And he thought, 'Please, let me be a force in the world to reform them.' So he prayed for Lord Caitanya to come, and he helped to organize the distribution of knowledge. In fact, did you know that Advaita Ācārya went door to door? How'd you like it if Mahā-Viṣṇu came to your front door? 'Who's at the door, honey?' 'I think it's God. He's come knocking at our door.' That's how eager The Supreme Personality of Godhead is. He likes to do it, and He knows the formula. If you just go out and make yourself available—when it's cold or rainy or too hot or you don't feel like it—you're going to feel bad anyway; the material world's just like that. But if you pray, you chant, and you go out and try to give the knowledge to other people, you'll feel joyful 24 hours a day, and your thoughts will be transcendental. Because what you're going to do—if you toss and turn at night right now, you'll still toss and turn—but you're going to be thinking about: "How can I distribute Bhagavad-gītā, not just in English, but in Arabic and in Farsi, in French and Japanese, all over the world?" And if that's your preoccupation in life, you're a liberated soul. It's not hard; it's a simple process. These are heartfelt principles brought to us by Advaita Ācārya, who offered them to everybody. If you live in some far-flung place, you can restart the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement right from your place. All you have to do is have a Bhagavad-gītā and start reading it. Invite people to come over, chant a little bit, and when they get inspired, have them go out and chant for other people. The miracle happens again and again and again. Everyone's waiting for a miracle in this world, but one has already come: it's Advaita Ācārya. He showed us how to do it. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------
Śrī Advaita Ācārya's place is indicative of how the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement starts. It's a small place out in the countryside, and anyone can start a Kṛṣṇa conscious wave from anywhere. How is it done? Advaita Ācārya's penchant is for presenting the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. Many people present the Bhagavad-gītā, but then they give some mal‑interpretation. They say Kurukṣetra means “the senses.” They say Kṛṣṇa doesn't really mean Kṛṣṇa when He says “surrender unto Me”; it just means “surrender to the unborn within Kṛṣṇa,” whatever the heck that means—which ultimately means you can do whatever you want. Advaita Ācārya—and the reason He's called Ācārya—is because He teaches the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. It's from this place that He would hold forth every day and speak the truth of the Bhagavad-gītā. And people would come to His class. So this is what we can do also. Someone might say, “Oh, I don't have any service. What can I do?” It's like: Do you have a Bhagavad-gītā As It Is? Anyone? If not, see me afterwards. If you have a Bhagavad-gītā, (better you have a few boxes) invite some people to your house. And what will you give them to eat? Śāk. Give them a little śāk and fried cream. If you give nice prasādam, people will come—even if they don't like philosophy. When we first started, Nirākulā and I began a program at our house that went for sixteen years, and we had people come over every week. When it first started, I was putting together some very simple prasādam. We had dates and mascarpone cheese and just a few little snack‑like things. And we were getting, you know, one person, three people, five people. And then Nirākulā started cooking all of everyone's favorites—pies, macaroni and cheese—and then all of a sudden we couldn't fit everybody in the house. Then I realized the formula for the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement: If you cook, they will come. And then if you have a discussion on the Bhagavad-gītā, even if you don't know the philosophy well, that's okay. It's written down. You just read it and discuss it, and a magic happens—and that is, people's hearts change when they hear that actually God is a person, and we're sparks of that person. We're also persons, just like Kṛṣṇa. We're His expansions, and we're also His servants, and there is service to do. Chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa is the Yuga‑dharma—simple things—and people suddenly feel aligned, like, “Yes, I can do this too.” And yes, you can, from any little spot—wherever you might live, out in the country or in the middle of a big city. If you hold a Bhagavad-gītā class, then people will come, and the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement will start anew from your place. Because it's the vibration that comes from the Bhagavad-gītā, as presented by Advaita Ācārya that actually sustains the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement. It has nothing to do with our infrastructure. You can have brick and mortar here, there, and everywhere, but unless you have the vibration of the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, you don't have anything different from the downtown buildings you find in Minneapolis, Minnesota, or Cincinnati, Ohio—any other place; they're all the same. What defines a realm is the sound vibration of that realm, and what defines our lives is the sound vibration that we take in on a daily basis. Nonduality is about pointing. We cannot describe Ultimate Reality, but we can point to it. This idea is repeated often. You have undoubtedly heard many times the Zen proverb about not mistaking the finger pointing to the moon for the moon itself. And this is helpful. It helps us look beyond ideas, words, doctrines, and beliefs to know Reality directly. What is not often mentioned is that pointing can itself be a barrier to spiritual awakening. Pointing is misleading. It assumes that Reality is over there somewhere, where we are pointing. Pointing is therefore mis-pointing. In this episode, Vedic wisdom meets the depths of Jewish mysticism as host Acharya Shunya sit sin dialogue with Rabbi Matthew Ponak. Together, they explore how the shadow is not something to be conquered but met with divine intelligence, how ancient traditions guide us when the self feels fragmented, and how grace arrives when effort alone falls short. Drawing from Advaita and embodied Kabbalah, this conversation moves beyond theory into lived experience, revealing how sacred lineages across cultures point toward the same inner rescue: remembrance, humility, and the quiet help that comes when we stop pretending we can do it alone. Rabbi Matthew Ponak is a teacher of Jewish mysticism and spiritual counselor, ordained with honors from Hebrew College's neo-Hasidic rabbinical school and author of Embodied Kabbalah.
Today I am recording on another topic, one that has been coming up recently in correspondence and conversations. I think it may be helpful if it were addressed. The topic is Spiritual FOMO. FOMO is, of course, the acronym meaning Fear Of Missing Out. I notice Spiritual FOMO both in Christian circles and among people interested in nondual spirituality. In nonduality it comes in the form of Enlightenment FOMO. Quite a few people who reach out to me are afraid that they are going to miss out on enlightenment. They are afraid they will continue to miss out. They do not get it, and they are afraid that they will never get it. They have been trying spiritual practices for years, and they feel like they will never spiritually awaken. They are afraid that they will never be enlightened, at least not in this lifetime, if they believe in multiple lifetimes. They feel like giving up. There is a parallel in Christianity. Many Christians feel like they are missing out on something important in the spiritual life that their form of Christianity is not providing them. That there has to be something more than what they are experiencing in their church or tradition or religion or personal spiritual practices. That they are missing out on the fullness of God, on the genuine spirituality. Sometimes among Christians this fear goes all the way to feeling like they are going to miss out on heaven. In this episode I am exploring sayings 38 and 39 in the Gospel of Thomas. Both have parallels in the canonical gospels, but not exactly. Once again context – or more exactly lack of context – is an important factor in the interpretation of these sayings of Jesus. I will read the sayings in Thomas for you.Jesus said, "Often you have desired to hear these sayings that I am speaking to you, and you have no one else from whom to hear them. There will be days when you will seek me and you will not find me."Jesus said, "The Pharisees and the scholars have taken the keys of knowledge and have hidden them. They have not entered nor have they allowed those who want to enter to do so. As for you, be as sly as snakes and as simple as doves."View Marshall's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marshall-Davis/author/B001K8Y0RU
In this episode I am looking at two sayings in the Gospel of Thomas, sayings 36 and 37. Both have to do with clothing. Here they are: Jesus said, "Do not be concerned from morning until evening and from evening until morning about what you will wear." His disciples said, "When will you become revealed to us and when shall we see you?" Jesus said, "When you disrobe without being ashamed and take up your garments and place them under your feet like little children and tread on them, then will you see the Son of the Living One, and you will not be afraid."View Marshall's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marshall-Davis/author/B001K8Y0RU
This is a selection of non-dual pointers taken from Jean Klein's texts, 'Dialogues with Jean Klein' and 'The Flame of Being.'Jean Klein (October 19, 1912 – February 22, 1998) was a French author, spiritual teacher and philosopher of Advaita Vedanta (Nondualism). He was born in Berlin and spent his childhood in Brno and Prague. Having left Germany in 1933 for France, he secretly worked with the French Resistance in the Second World War. Klein was a musicologist and doctor, traveled to India where he was influenced by Sri Atmananda Krishna Menon, studied Kashmir Shaivism and was sent to the West to teach Advaita Vedanta. He is regarded as one most eloquent communicators of non-duality in the second half of the 20th century.

Today I am covering two sayings in the Gospel of Thomas. Sayings 34 and 35. I am doing this because they are short, and they are making the same point. They are also very similar to sayings that we find in the New Testament gospels. For that reason, the difference in interpretation of these sayings really is a matter of context. Here are the two sayings as found in the Gospel of Thomas: Jesus said, "If a blind person leads a blind person, both of them will fall into a hole." Jesus said, "One can't enter a strong person's house and take it by force without tying his hands. Then one can loot his house.”View Marshall's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marshall-Davis/author/B001K8Y0RU
Today I am going to cover two sayings in the Gospel of Thomas, sayings 32 and 33. There are actually three sayings in these two verses. One about being built on a mountaintop, one about shouting from a housetop, and one about shining from a tabletop. I am grouping them together because they have the same theme and in the canonical gospels they are found together. And they are all about how the nondual Reality of the Kingdom of God shines forth for all to see. Here are the sayings: Jesus said, "A city being built on a high mountain and fortified cannot fall, nor can it be hidden." Jesus said, "Preach from your housetops that which you will hear in your ear. For no one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel, nor does he put it in a hidden place, but rather he sets it on a lampstand so that everyone who enters and leaves will see its light."View Marshall's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marshall-Davis/author/B001K8Y0RU
