Is the "me" you experience every day an actual entity, or just a reflection of your conditioned experience? In this episode, Adam is joined by Reed to explore the "Sense of Me" in relation to awareness itself. Reed shares his journey from "dropping everything" and attempting biblical literal-ism to returning to these questions with a fresh, untainted perspective. Key Topics Covered: Signposts of Thought: How belief systems and conceptual frameworks carve the shape of our thoughts. Spiritual Integration: Why "fireworks and rocket ships" are less common than a slow, gradual ground of being. The Teacher Trap: A candid look at Jiddu Krishnamurti, the "entertainment" of spiritual teachings, and the Jim Newman vs. Sam Harris debate. Identity & Personas: Reed's "master plan" to launch his music project, Numinal, by playing with the concept of fame and projection. At the heart of the conversation is a direct question: Can you actually find the “me,” or is it just a movement of thought? This dialogue touches on non-duality, Krishnamurti, Advaita, Zen, and the lived experience of awareness. www.InsideTheMindsEye.com

The supreme being of classical theism is unlimited in power, knowledge, and goodness – a being distinct from the world, who creates it out of nothing and governs it from beyond. On this picture, we are not identical with God. God's consciousness is not our consciousness – and our identity is not theirs. That picture has long been challenged by schools of Hindu philosophy and, more recently, by Western philosophies of religion that reject traditional conceptions of God. In response to the problem of evil, some philosophers now argue that if there is a creator, then that creator must be limited in power. Advaita's challenge is more radical. It doesn't just revise the traditional conception of God – it dissolves it. Where classical theism draws a sharp distinction between God and the world, Advaita says that reality is non-dual. The divine is not something separate from us or from the universe, but the underlying reality that appears as both. To explore these competing visions of the supreme being, reality, and our place within it, I'm joined by three guests. Returning to The Panpsycast for the fifth time is Philip Goff, Professor of Philosophy at Durham University. As listeners will remember, Philip is the author of several brilliant books – including Galileo's Error and, more recently, Why? The Purpose of the Universe. David Godman is a leading author, best known for his work on the Hindu sage, Sri Ramana Maharshi. And last but not least, Miri Albahari is Senior Lecturer at The University of Western Australia – where her work explores the metaphysics and epistemology of Buddhism and Advaita Vedanta. What is gained – and what is lost – when God is no longer unlimited, or is no longer separate from the world? Can these alternatives still ground mind, meaning, and morality? And by what means could we come to know such a reality – and decide between these rival conceptions of God?

Dr. Robert Ganung, chaplain and teacher at Taft School, joins Rick to explore how deep contemplative practice can ground a life of service, justice, and education. Drawing from Celtic Christianity, Buddhism, Vedanta, and the civil rights tradition, Robert shares how daily meditation, interspiritual study, and a sense of the sacred in all beings inform his work with students and his view of a world in crisis yet ripe for awakening. They discuss non-duality and interconnection, inner practice as fuel for action, the impact of mystical experiences, near-death research, and living with love and courage amid social and planetary upheaval. The Rev. Dr. Robert Ganung is an ordained minister, educator, and school chaplain whose life and work have been shaped by a deep engagement with both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions. He holds a doctorate from the Boston University School of Theology, where his dissertation explored how the mindfulness and meditation practices taught by the Vietnamese Zen monk Thich Nhat Hanh can enrich and nourish the spiritual lives of Christians. That work grew out of years of personal practice and study, including retreats with Thich Nhat Hanh in the 1980s and 1990s, as well as a lifelong interest in contemplative spirituality. For more than four decades, Dr. Ganung has served at the intersection of education, ministry, and social justice. He is currently Chaplain at The Taft School in Connecticut, where he also teaches philosophy, ethics, world religions, and global studies, and where he has brought an extraordinary range of voices into the community—among them Cornel West, Bill McKibben, Ibram X. Kendi, Angela Davis, Tibetan monks, and many others addressing spirituality, human rights, environmental justice, and the moral challenges of our time. Earlier in his career, he served as chaplain and teacher at Milton Academy, Punahou School in Hawai‘i, and Cardigan Mountain School. During these years, he also served as a minister in the United Methodist and United Church of Christ congregations in New England and Hawai‘i. Dr. Ganung's spiritual formation has been deeply influenced by the Christian mystical tradition—figures such as Howard Thurman, Bede Griffiths, Richard Rohr, & John O'Donohue—as well as by Advaita Vedanta, Buddhism, and interfaith dialogue. Introduced to Hindu philosophy and Sufism as an undergraduate philosophy major at Boston University, he later engaged Siddha Yoga and Advaita teachings, while continuing to explore how contemplative practice leads naturally toward nonviolence, compassion, and justice in the world.

While in Seattle in the fall of 1968, Śrīla Prabhupāda introduced for the first time this song to be sung during the evening ārati ceremony. This Gaura-ārati is taking place in a grove on the banks of the Jāhnavī [Ganges] and is attracting the minds of all living entities in the universe. (2) On Lord Caitanya's right side is Lord Nityānanda, and on His left is Śrī Gadādhara. Nearby stands Śrī Advaita, and Śrīvāsa Ṭhākura is holding an umbrella over Lord Caitanya's head. (3) Lord Caitanya has sat down on a jeweled throne, and the demigods, headed by Lord Brahmā, perform the ārati ceremony. (4) Narahari Sarakāra and other associates of Lord Caitanya fan Him with cāmaras, and devotees headed by Sañjaya Paṇḍita, Mukunda Datta, and Vāsu Ghoṣa sing sweet kīrtana. (5) Conchshells, bells, and karatālas resound, and the mṛdaṅgas play very sweetly. This kīrtana music is supremely sweet and relishable to hear. (6) The brilliance of Lord Caitanya's face conquers millions upon millions of moons, and the garland of forest flowers around His neck shines. (7) Lord Śiva, Śukadeva Gosvāmī, and Nārada Muni are all there, and their voices are choked with the ecstasy of transcendental love. Thus Ṭhakura Bhaktivinoda envisions the glory of Lord Śrī Caitanya. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #gauraarti #kirtan #spiritualmusic #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Just this morning, we had a three-hour meeting. When's the last time you had a three-hour Zoom call? We had one this morning from 7:00 AM to 10:00, right on the dot— we started right at seven, we ended at ten. We had maybe about ten people, and it was our beginning-of-the-year brainstorming session. Vision, mission, brainstorming for 2026 and beyond: What are our next goals for distributing knowledge that's what keeps us up at night and wakes us up early in the morning: how to do good for others. This is what Advaita Ācārya did—he couldn't sleep thinking about the plight of those in the material world who didn't have the opportunity to come in contact with true knowledge. The rich people were burning their money up doing all these crazy rituals, and poor people were wasting money on intoxication and frivolous activities. And he thought, 'Please, let me be a force in the world to reform them.' So he prayed for Lord Caitanya to come, and he helped to organize the distribution of knowledge. In fact, did you know that Advaita Ācārya went door to door? How'd you like it if Mahā-Viṣṇu came to your front door? 'Who's at the door, honey?' 'I think it's God. He's come knocking at our door.' That's how eager The Supreme Personality of Godhead is. He likes to do it, and He knows the formula. If you just go out and make yourself available—when it's cold or rainy or too hot or you don't feel like it—you're going to feel bad anyway; the material world's just like that. But if you pray, you chant, and you go out and try to give the knowledge to other people, you'll feel joyful 24 hours a day, and your thoughts will be transcendental. Because what you're going to do—if you toss and turn at night right now, you'll still toss and turn—but you're going to be thinking about: "How can I distribute Bhagavad-gītā, not just in English, but in Arabic and in Farsi, in French and Japanese, all over the world?" And if that's your preoccupation in life, you're a liberated soul. It's not hard; it's a simple process. These are heartfelt principles brought to us by Advaita Ācārya, who offered them to everybody. If you live in some far-flung place, you can restart the Hare Kṛṣṇa movement right from your place. All you have to do is have a Bhagavad-gītā and start reading it. Invite people to come over, chant a little bit, and when they get inspired, have them go out and chant for other people. The miracle happens again and again and again. Everyone's waiting for a miracle in this world, but one has already come: it's Advaita Ācārya. He showed us how to do it. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------

Śrī Advaita Ācārya's place is indicative of how the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement starts. It's a small place out in the countryside, and anyone can start a Kṛṣṇa conscious wave from anywhere. How is it done? Advaita Ācārya's penchant is for presenting the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. Many people present the Bhagavad-gītā, but then they give some mal‑interpretation. They say Kurukṣetra means “the senses.” They say Kṛṣṇa doesn't really mean Kṛṣṇa when He says “surrender unto Me”; it just means “surrender to the unborn within Kṛṣṇa,” whatever the heck that means—which ultimately means you can do whatever you want. Advaita Ācārya—and the reason He's called Ācārya—is because He teaches the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is. It's from this place that He would hold forth every day and speak the truth of the Bhagavad-gītā. And people would come to His class. So this is what we can do also. Someone might say, “Oh, I don't have any service. What can I do?” It's like: Do you have a Bhagavad-gītā As It Is? Anyone? If not, see me afterwards. If you have a Bhagavad-gītā, (better you have a few boxes) invite some people to your house. And what will you give them to eat? Śāk. Give them a little śāk and fried cream. If you give nice prasādam, people will come—even if they don't like philosophy. When we first started, Nirākulā and I began a program at our house that went for sixteen years, and we had people come over every week. When it first started, I was putting together some very simple prasādam. We had dates and mascarpone cheese and just a few little snack‑like things. And we were getting, you know, one person, three people, five people. And then Nirākulā started cooking all of everyone's favorites—pies, macaroni and cheese—and then all of a sudden we couldn't fit everybody in the house. Then I realized the formula for the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement: If you cook, they will come. And then if you have a discussion on the Bhagavad-gītā, even if you don't know the philosophy well, that's okay. It's written down. You just read it and discuss it, and a magic happens—and that is, people's hearts change when they hear that actually God is a person, and we're sparks of that person. We're also persons, just like Kṛṣṇa. We're His expansions, and we're also His servants, and there is service to do. Chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa is the Yuga‑dharma—simple things—and people suddenly feel aligned, like, “Yes, I can do this too.” And yes, you can, from any little spot—wherever you might live, out in the country or in the middle of a big city. If you hold a Bhagavad-gītā class, then people will come, and the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement will start anew from your place. Because it's the vibration that comes from the Bhagavad-gītā, as presented by Advaita Ācārya that actually sustains the Kṛṣṇa conscious movement. It has nothing to do with our infrastructure. You can have brick and mortar here, there, and everywhere, but unless you have the vibration of the Bhagavad-gītā As It Is, you don't have anything different from the downtown buildings you find in Minneapolis, Minnesota, or Cincinnati, Ohio—any other place; they're all the same. What defines a realm is the sound vibration of that realm, and what defines our lives is the sound vibration that we take in on a daily basis. The Pointlessness of Nondual Pointing

Nonduality is about pointing. We cannot describe Ultimate Reality, but we can point to it. This idea is repeated often. You have undoubtedly heard many times the Zen proverb about not mistaking the finger pointing to the moon for the moon itself. And this is helpful. It helps us look beyond ideas, words, doctrines, and beliefs to know Reality directly. What is not often mentioned is that pointing can itself be a barrier to spiritual awakening. Pointing is misleading. It assumes that Reality is over there somewhere, where we are pointing. Pointing is therefore mis-pointing. View Marshall's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marshall-Davis/author/B001K8Y0RU

In this episode, Vedic wisdom meets the depths of Jewish mysticism as host Acharya Shunya sit sin dialogue with Rabbi Matthew Ponak. Together, they explore how the shadow is not something to be conquered but met with divine intelligence, how ancient traditions guide us when the self feels fragmented, and how grace arrives when effort alone falls short. Drawing from Advaita and embodied Kabbalah, this conversation moves beyond theory into lived experience, revealing how sacred lineages across cultures point toward the same inner rescue: remembrance, humility, and the quiet help that comes when we stop pretending we can do it alone. Rabbi Matthew Ponak is a teacher of Jewish mysticism and spiritual counselor, ordained with honors from Hebrew College's neo-Hasidic rabbinical school and author of Embodied Kabbalah.

Citações e trechos do livro “The Collected Works” de Robert Adams.

Today I am recording on another topic, one that has been coming up recently in correspondence and conversations. I think it may be helpful if it were addressed. The topic is Spiritual FOMO. FOMO is, of course, the acronym meaning Fear Of Missing Out. I notice Spiritual FOMO both in Christian circles and among people interested in nondual spirituality. In nonduality it comes in the form of Enlightenment FOMO. Quite a few people who reach out to me are afraid that they are going to miss out on enlightenment. They are afraid they will continue to miss out. They do not get it, and they are afraid that they will never get it. They have been trying spiritual practices for years, and they feel like they will never spiritually awaken. They are afraid that they will never be enlightened, at least not in this lifetime, if they believe in multiple lifetimes. They feel like giving up. There is a parallel in Christianity. Many Christians feel like they are missing out on something important in the spiritual life that their form of Christianity is not providing them. That there has to be something more than what they are experiencing in their church or tradition or religion or personal spiritual practices. That they are missing out on the fullness of God, on the genuine spirituality. Sometimes among Christians this fear goes all the way to feeling like they are going to miss out on heaven. View Marshall's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marshall-Davis/author/B001K8Y0RU

I will read the sayings in Thomas for you.Jesus said, "Often you have desired to hear these sayings that I am speaking to you, and you have no one else from whom to hear them. There will be days when you will seek me and you will not find me."Jesus said, "The Pharisees and the scholars have taken the keys of knowledge and have hidden them. What does it mean to “be awareness” rather than simply observing it? Dorothy Hunt invites us to see awareness not as something separate from thoughts, feelings, or experiences, but as the very ground of being that is already present. Grounding her reflections in both tradition and poetry, she illustrates how awareness reveals itself in every moment, whether through beauty, suffering, or the ordinary flow of life. Her teaching emphasizes that awakening is not about bypassing human experience but about embracing it with intimacy and compassion.Dorothy weaves together Buddhist wisdom, Zen stories, and personal reflections to show how awareness can meet even the most difficult aspects of life. She highlights key ideas such as:The two arrows: the unavoidable pain of life and the suffering added by our interpretations.Layers of experience: from rage to vulnerability, awareness can hold them all without judgment.Awakening and growing up: two sides of the same coin, integrating transcendence with human healing. The “pathless path”: each person's journey is unique, made by walking.Ultimately, she reminds us that awareness is not elsewhere—it is here, in the very act of living.______________Dorothy Hunt serves as spiritual director of Moon Mountain Sangha and was the founder of the San Francisco Center for Meditation and Psychotherapy. She is the author of Only This!, Leaves from Moon Mountain, and Ending the Search: From Spiritual Ambition to the Heart of Awareness, as well as articles published on nondual wisdom and psychotherapy. She teaches at the request and in the spiritual lineage of Adyashanti, who invited her to share the dharma in 2004.

Today I am covering two sayings in the Gospel of Thomas. Sayings 34 and 35. I am doing this because they are short, and they are making the same point. They are also very similar to sayings that we find in the New Testament gospels. For that reason, the difference in interpretation of these sayings really is a matter of context. Here are the two sayings as found in the Gospel of Thomas: Jesus said, "If a blind person leads a blind person, both of them will fall into a hole." Jesus said, "One can't enter a strong person's house and take it by force without tying his hands. Then one can loot his house.”View Marshall's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marshall-Davis/author/B001K8Y0RU

Today I am going to cover two sayings in the Gospel of Thomas, sayings 32 and 33. There are actually three sayings in these two verses. One about being built on a mountaintop, one about shouting from a housetop, and one about shining from a tabletop. I am grouping them together because they have the same theme and in the canonical gospels they are found together. And they are all about how the nondual Reality of the Kingdom of God shines forth for all to see. Here are the sayings: Jesus said, "A city being built on a high mountain and fortified cannot fall, nor can it be hidden." Jesus said, "Preach from your housetops that which you will hear in your ear. For no one lights a lamp and puts it under a bushel, nor does he put it in a hidden place, but rather he sets it on a lampstand so that everyone who enters and leaves will see its light."View Marshall's books here: https://www.amazon.com/stores/Marshall-Davis/author/B001K8Y0RU

It's mentioned that in the progression of devotional service—which we heard about earlier, and maybe it was in the class this morning heard in the purport—'ādau śraddhā, tato sādhu-saṅga, atha bhajana-kriyā, tato anartha-nivṛttiḥ syāt, tato niṣṭhā, tataḥ ruciḥ,' etc. This is the progression from śraddhā to prema, and Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura notes that this is anukrama—one step after another. However, sometimes they're anachronistic. Someone may have an experience beyond their adhikāra, and that can be taken in the way Nārada Muni had received some impetus. This is what it feels like. And yet another commentary from the Sixth Canto of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam—Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura talks about the chanting of the holy name specifically. He says that devotees who chant Hare Kṛṣṇa may experience the fruit of that at different times, for different reasons. He says: a tree, when planted, takes as long as it takes to produce a fruit. You can't hurry it up. It has to grow from a sapling and then put its roots down. Some trees, like almonds, they take seven years before you actually get any fruit from the tree. He said that sometimes Kṛṣṇa withholds the ecstasy of the holy name until the devotee is leaving the world. That's also there in Light of the Bhāgavata, where Prabhupāda, commenting on the sages staying back for Cāturmāsya, says they stay in one room—generally in one place. They don't go out anywhere. They just hear and chant for those four months. And then he says in his commentary that they don't realize the result of their austerity till they leave the room. When you're there, you just think, "Yeah, this is what we're doing." But when they leave, they go, "Oh my God, what did I do?" And then Prabhupāda says: we are in a Cāturmāsya-like existence. He said, we get this body and we have an āyuḥ—a span of life for so long—and it's kind of like a Cāturmāsya. We have this little opportunity in the short human life to perform the austerity, and we may not even realize the full effects of that cultivation until we leave the body. Thus Ṭhakura Bhaktivinoda envisions the glory of Lord Śrī Caitanya. https://vedabase.io/en/library/spl/2/ ----------------------------------------------------------- To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #spiritualsong #arti #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

In the Who Should Worship Kālī? | Dakṣiṇa Kālī vs Smaśāna Kālī talk, we explained the technical term "jagadānanda" which describes the bliss of fullness. We argued that from the Kaula point of view, the goal is not transcendence but fullness; not freedom "from" the world but freedom "as" the world. And we pointed out how Kālī sādhanā is uniquely about embracing this non-dual totality of all things! The Absolute Reality is dynamic, ever-free Consciousness, my very own Self and the goal is to realize this in all things, as all things. Necessarily, this involves coming to terms with realities that the dualistic, conditioned and limited mind often rejects. "Who dares misery love: to him the Mother comes" etc. Then, in Kālī's Non-Duality of Radical Acceptance | vs. Classical Non-Duality we went in with some finer brush strokes to compare the view of Classical Advaita, which we termed the "path of absolute negation" with that of Tāntrik Advaita, or the Non-Duality of Kālĩ which we described as the "path of absolute acceptance". Both can lead to non-dual realization and yet who can deny that these might be different flavors of non-dual realization! The former path is fit for some while the latter suits the disposition of others and for many, the two paths are practiced sequentially, one after another. All this we discussed in last week's talk. Now, this week, we take up this topic yet again but using the Sāmkhyan idea of the gunas to show how Kālī sādhana (i.e Tāntrik non-duality) is unique and therefore for some people, uniquely disturbing. I make a case against transcendentalists, "sattva-only" oriented traditions! Originally, I had intended this lecture to be about staying safe and grounded in Kālī sādhanā or something along the lines of a PSA on kundalini emergencies/spiritual crisis but I spent so much time describing how Kālī sādhanā uniquely leads to destabilization that I never really got around to talking about techniques for grounding! We briefly mention a few towards the end but I suspect I'll want to develop these theme on safety more next week: stay tuned! Support the showLectures happen live every Monday at 7pm PST and Friday 10am PST and again Friday at 6pm PST.Use this link and I will see you there:https://www.zoom.us/j/7028380815For more videos, guided meditations and instruction and for access to our lecture library, visit me at:https://www.patreon.com/yogawithnishTo get in on the discussion and access various spiritual materials, join our Discord here: https://discord.gg/U8zKP8yMrM

As such, as a celebration and consummation, I'd like to discuss something quite poignant: the yoga of grief & fullness.I want to compare some transcendalist schools of Advaita to the Tāntrik approach which emphasizes fullness, especially with regard the full spectrum of flavors (rasa) that arise in Consciousness! We'll offer some a touching and telling stories of Lord Śiva's grief, Matsyendranātha's fall, and the pain and grief of Sarada Devi, Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda!Often I feel there can be nothing more important than presenting this profoundly humanizing portraits of our heroes because rather than subtracting from their spirituality , they only add to it. Essentially, I want to talk about an all embracing kind of spirituality that leaves no experience unexplored, no facet untasted: in short, the Advaita of Kālī!. Naturally, we'll explore the 5 phases of the 12 Krama deities too and Abhinava Gupta's nava-rasa theory to point to the philosophical complexity and poetry of this position! Many of you will find this lecture someone reminiscent of some our community favorites like: 1. Yet I marvel at how this great wealth has come to dwell in this poverty." In this saying Jesus is leading people beyond metaphysical and philosophical questions in order to point them to Reality that is beyond ideas. It is common in religious and spiritual circles for people to be dogmatic about their views.
