Boyega played Finn in the 'Star Wars' sequel trilogy and he won a Golden Globe for his leading role in the anthology series 'Small Axe,' as a Black British police officer who joined the force in the '80s to try to change the system. Boyega has been outspoken about systemic racism — including in Hollywood. In this episode, Rachael and Kirsty revisit 'Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker' - and our complex feelings about it! We run through the build up to the film, covering everything from J.J. Abrams coming aboard when Colin Trevorrow was unceremoniously booted off the project to the persistent mystery of Matt Smith's involvement. We run through the astonishingly detailed spoilers that emerged about TROS months prior to its release, breaking down some of the more interesting differences between the leaked version of the story and what ended up in cinemas. With the pre-release period wrapped up, we then move into a discussion of our feelings about it - how we felt at the time, and how we feel about now with the distance of time. While our criticisms haven't changed substantially, we remain hopefully that Episode IX doesn't represent the final chapter for the heroes of the sequel trilogy. Years of fan requests for the Gordy Haab's award-winning soundtracks for Star Wars: Battlefront I and II have finally paid off, with official releases by Walt Disney Records on January 29 and February 5, 2021. Gordy says it was always his hope to have official soundtracks, and he created suites from the themes in each game, which had been stored on a hard drive waiting until the time was right. Although it wasn't initially planned, Gordy says it was a thrill to have the acclaimed London Symphony Orchestra and London Voices record his music for the Star Wars: Battlefront games because those musicians recorded the original soundtracks. Plus, he says it was an incredible experience to record at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, which adds to the signature sound. One of the most satisfying aspects of writing the soundtrack for the story-driven Star Wars: Battlefront II was creating a theme for an important new character: Iden Versio.
