Timestamps:00:00:00 Intro00:00:52 Sinners00:07:20 The Last of Us S200:09:44 Gord gelezen00:16:28 Flow00:17:25 Moana 200:20:49 Fantastic Four trailer00:25:00 Nieuwe Human Torch heeft respect voor vrouwen00:26:20 Feige vroeg Boyega wie hij zou willen spelen in de MCU00:27:59 Screenwriter Brave New World schetst toekomst nieuwe Captain America00:32:41 Open eindjes MCU00:42:28 Kathleen Kennedy gaat helemaal nergens heen00:44:02 En er worden nog steeds 85 trilogieën en filmen gemaakt00:45:05 Taika is on Taika time00:47:12 Seizoen 2 van Asohka confirmed00:48:20 Dingen die we geleerd hebben over The Mando and The Grogu00:54:07 Darth Maul krijgt animatie serie00:56:28 Ryan Gosling in nieuwe STAR WARS film STARFIGHTER01:02:08 Light & Magic Season 201:04:28 Florence Pugh doet eigen stunts a la de Cruiser!01:06:59 Het is gebeurd - Tom de Cruiser is oud, kijk maar01:08:53 Jurassic World Rebirth Trailer01:11:03 FAST X: PART 2 Update01:13:07 Johnny Depp is terug in Day Drinker 01:15:23 Trailer: 28 years later

In this special edition of Last Word, John Boyega pays tribute to campaigner Richard Taylor, the father of Damilola Taylor who was killed 24 years ago.Richard Taylor - a Nigerian civil servant - dedicated years to improving the lives of disadvantaged children in the wake of his son's death via the Damilola Taylor Trust. Mr Taylor said he wanted his son to be remembered as a boy of hope and for his legacy to be a better life and opportunities for underprivileged young people.Boyega - best known for his roles in Star Wars sequel movies – was schoolfriends with Damilola Taylor in South London, as well as being a beneficiary of the Trust set up in his friend's name.John was one of the last people to see him alive. Until now he had never spoken about that night, or the impact the death of Damilola has had on him.Presented by John Wilson Produced by Ed Prendeville
Sometimes you just gotta say, "What the fork?" ...or something like that. Forty years ago Tom Cruise starred in this coming of age story that set him up for superstardom. The story stood out from your typical teen movie of the time. This week Jay and Shua look back at how to Enjoy a little Risky Business. Boyega plays a street-wise drug dealer that stumbles onto a government conspiracy of scientific experiments on the black population in the neighborhood. Shua just got back from Disney World. His family powered through all four parks and hit a ton of rides. But he chickened out on the important ones. Enjoy Movies! Paul Brickman wrote and directed the 1983 movie Risky Business. It looked like your typical teen sex comedy of the time, but the way he crafted it turned into something unique. Tom Cruise plays Joel Goodson, a high school senior who is left home alone when his controlling parents leave town for a week. His responsibility? Keep his upper-class, fancy home and his dad's Porsche in perfect order while working hard on school and trying to get into Harvard. Sounds like something any teen could handle. Yeah,...right. Peer pressure and hormones push him to get a little crazy and order a call girl. Eventually this leads him to running his own brothel in his parents' home. When Guido the killer pimp gets his revenge by stealing everything in the house including his mother's precious crystal egg, Joel has to use all the money he made and buy it all back before his parents get home. We'll break down some of the themes and why this movie worked and actually stands up to time. Have you seen Risky Business? Did you use your parents' house for creative purposes when they left town? Bam! Another Empire Podcast episode, another bumper selection of guests this week, as Chris Hewitt sits down (in person) with Ian McShane, star of John Wick Chapter 4, and they chat about hotels, Lovejoy, McShane's start in acting, and (of course) Columbo. (Note: this interview was conducted before the news broke of the death of McShane's John Wick co-star, Lance Reddick) Chris also has a fantastic chat with John Boyega, star of Breaking, which is released on PVOD on Monday (March 27th), in which they talk about the film's social conscience, how Boyega navigated his career post-Attack The Block and Star Wars, and how he celebrates his birthdays. And then there's a clash of the Alexes, as our Mr Godfrey chats with Infinity Pool star Alexander Skarsgard about his crazy and intense new movie. Be warned: there's talk galore of dog collars and giant penises. The usual. Then, in the podbooth, Helen O'Hara hosts and is joined by James Dyer and Sophie Butcher for a fun episode in which they discuss unusual movie murder weapons, John Williams, the week's movie news, and review the likes of John Wick Chapter 4, The Five Devils, A Good Person, and Infinity Pool. Enjoy!

How are schools across the nation faring now that school is back in session? Is life in school back to normal or are their still looming effects caused by the pandemic? We've all heard of teacher and staff shortages and parents pulling kids from public school because of curriculum issues. It seems, schools are stressed.According to a 2020 survey conducted by teachers' union, the National Education Association, 55% of educators are thinking about leaving the profession earlier than they planned. But its not just teachers, according to the teachers union everyone from janitors to bus drivers to cooks are looking for a way out.5 Things Sunday host James Brown sat down with USA TODAY education reporter Alia Wong and Sydney Boyega, a Texas teacher who inspired this episode, to try to understand what is happening in schools.According to Boyega, there is a lot of misconceptions about teachers. She said people think because they went to a K-12 school that teaching is easy. She compares that to saying you can direct the movie 'Star Wars' just because you've watched it a couple of times.Follow James Brown and Alia Wong on Twitter. For more on the teacher shortages and how education in being impacted read: Teacher shortage 2020: Charts, maps show the data by state.Biden, job search companies partner to take on teacher shortage.Schools wouldn't have teacher shortages if they helped, supported them - USA TODAY.Middle school science teachers often struggle with shaky scientific knowledge. We wrap up "summer" with this episode of BEHIND THE LENS with writer/director MICHAEL MANDELL talking about THE MOVIE, plus my exclusive prerecorded interview with writer/director ABI DAMARIS CORBIN talking about the powerful John Boyega-led film, BREAKING. Writer/Director ABI DAMARIS CORBIN has taken one true story involving a veteran and the failures of the VA system and society and delivers the emotionally charged drama, BREAKING. Led by John Boyega and Michael K. Williams in his final film role, BREAKING is the story of former Marine Lance Corporal Brian Brown-Easley and the challenges he faced mentally and emotionally as he tried to reintegrate into civilian life on leaving the military only to have his efforts end in tragedy. As part of the fallacies with veterans' benefits, there is a law on the books that the VA is entitled to recover money directly from a veteran who stops attending classes or drops too many courses. Despite dealing with extreme PTSD and mental issues, in an effort to retrain himself and help provide for his beloved daughter Jayla, Brian had enrolled in computer classes. But he stopped attending and the government garnished his entire veteran's monthly benefit of $892 while claiming he still owed repayment of $271. As a result, Brian decided to showed up at a Wells Fargo bank branch outside of Marietta, Georgia and slipped a note to a teller that he had a bomb in his backpack. Brian allowed all employees except two to leave and called 911 and a local TV news outlet himself, apprising them of the situation. Working with the Brown-Easley family, Corbin delivers a film that is undeniably riveting and heartbreaking as we are with Boyega as Brown-Easley inside the bank during the hostage situation, getting into his head and his heart. And then we welcome the fun-filled writer/director MICHAEL MANDELL to the show to talk about his narrative feature debut, THE MOVIE, a film that truly does stand by the mantra "It's Only Compelling If It's Real!". A dark and twisted tale rooted in reality, it's irresistible and irresistibly funny. Dark and twisted, THE MOVIE draws us in ever deeper with every passing frame as we meet former child actor Janet Gillespie and obsessed fan and wannabe filmmaker Walter. It's no holds barred as Michael discusses the idea for the story, film's location (his own house!), production design, cinematography and the challenges of shooting within the confines of the house and its furnishings, and above all, the performances of Jarrod Pistilli and Bonnie Root, the latter who shot the entire film with hands tied and body strapped upright to a dolly! http://eliasentertainmentnetwork.com
When our needs go unduly neglected, frustration and the prospect of dire consequences can set in. That's especially true when we must rely on others to come through for us, particularly when they make promises that are vital to our well-being. A failure to follow through on our behalf can get out of hand quickly, with potentially explosive results. This week on the pod John, Jeff & Dave discuss Breaking, the new film, based on a true story, starring John Boyega as a US Marine veteran who demands the VA pay him his disability checks, which have been held up by bureaucratic crap that the US military doesn't want to confront ever, ever. Therefore, Boyega's Brian Brown-Easley makes a bold decision to make his situation known at the risk of his own life. We discussed the incredibly important content of the film as compared to the final product, which was directed by relative new-comer to feature film directing, Abi Damaris Corbin, who co-wrote the script with Kwame Kwei-Armah. Boyega also co-exec produced, and the supporting cast is led by Michael K. Williams in one of his final performances. RIP! Composed by frequent Jordan Peele collaborator Michael Abels, the film was also co-produced by Euphoria's Sam Levinson. Additional Cast/Creatives: Connie Britton, Selenis Leyva, Nicole Beharie, Olivia Washington, London Covington, Jeffrey Donovan, Doug Emmett. And Rian Johnson stands by The Last Jedi as taking a big swing at the story, and provides an update on his intent to move forward with his original trilogy of films.Plus, the Geeks delve into new information about the production of the upcoming The Acolyte series and when we can expect to see the second season of The Bad Batch. In 2017, a former marine calmly threatened to blow up a suburban Atlanta bank and took two hostages. His name was Brian Brown Easley and he was suffering from PTSD and experiencing homelessness. A new film called "Breaking" dramatizes the events of that day and stars John Boyega as Beasley. Boyega and director Abi Damaris Corbin join to discuss.
Working with the Brown-Easley family, Corbin delivers a film that is undeniably riveting and heartbreaking as we are with Boyega as Brown-Easley inside the bank during the hostage situation, getting into his head and his heart. Balancing that with what is happening on the outside with law enforcement and bureaucrats and it's a heart-wrenching nail-biter. Director: Abi Damaris Corbin Screenwriters: Abi Damaris Corbin and Kwame Kwei-Armah Starring: John Boyega, Michael Kenneth Williams, Nicole Beharie, and Selenis Leyva Cinematographer: Doug Emmett Sundance Synopsis: Living in a cheap motel in Atlanta and separated from his wife and child, former U.S. Marine veteran Brian Easley is desperate. Driven to the brink by forces beyond his control, the soft-spoken, kind man decides to rob a bank and hold hostages with a bomb. As police, media, and family members descend on the bank and Brian, it becomes clear he's not after money — he wants to tell his story and have what is rightfully his, even if it costs him his life. **** Director Abi Damaris Corbin the John Boyega-led, debut is an hour and fifteen minute drama that takes places almost entirely inside of a bank. Yes, this (loosely) based on true events story is a hostage situation. With that framework comes all the expected trappings of a mobilized police response, the appearance of the FBI, stressful encounters, tense and conversations between people inside and outside the bank. It's an tense standoff that from the outset makes it clear Easley is at a crisis point and is willing walking towards tragedy. Boyega turns in a solid performance of a mild-manner man desperate to be heard. Unfortunately, while the narrow focus on the hours inside the bank work beautifully to showcase the almost instance militarized response of law enforcement, it does little to ground the audience otherwise. Corbin's script underserves this stellar ensemble made up of Nicole Beharie, Michael Kenneth Williams, Selenis Leyva, Connie Britton and Olivia Washington at almost every turn. The characters avoid being poorly drawn characters due only to the caliber of the actors. The slight is made more obvious by the skill demonstrated by smartly designed scene transitions and set composition. There's a hollowness that not even Boyega's emotional performance can fill. As a gateway to understanding that desperation always has a cause and ably pointing out the multi-system failure that triggered Easly's last ditch effort to be heard, 892 is far more successful. With slick slight of hand and strategic placement of flashbacks, Corbin designs an indictment of the convolutedness that is the Department of Veteran's Affairs. There's a lot here to unpack, unfortunately not enough of it focuses on U.S. Marine veteran Brian Easley. On the podcast: Ro and guest Britt dig into 892 892 may veer off course when it comes to being a serviceable biopic or even ably handling the complexity of Easly's plight but, it will absolutely raise your anxiety level and provoke. Spoiler-free, but theme heavy, discussion with guest critic Britt W from popculturereviews.com where we dig into what works - and what doesn't - the set arrangement and filmmaking that went into designing the narrative - and what's the take away from a story that focuses less on the central character in order to And like all good festival conversations, the topics veer to other projects screening and the impact or ways they can inform each other. This week, we're covering John Boyega! Say what you want about Finn, but you can't deny how cute he was with Poe Dameron. If only we saw more! But we're not here to talk about just Finn, we're here to talk about the man behind it all! Boyega has been fighting the battle throughout his career. From giant aliens (twice, mind you) to a whole space empire, as well as the systematic injustice oppressing POC. And while Dude Don't Even Get Me Started isn't a political podcast, we'd like to acknowledge his fight against racism. I mean, the man even risked his career to say what he need to say! Get you a man who isn't afraid to stand up against evil.
Who did we see in the hologram on this week's Bad Batch? And what do comments from both Abrams and Boyega tell us about the production of the sequel trilogy?

This time on Force Fed Sci-Fi, we are beginning our look into the Star Wars sequel films with Episode 7: The Force Awakens. Along the way we ask, is 30 years simply too long a time to simply resume the saga, how can someone like Kylo Ren have both daddy and granddaddy issues and how much nostalgia is too much? Let's take our first steps and dive in as we discuss and review The Force Awakens ….. Disney's Acquisition of LucasFilm and the Beginnings of the Next Triology To properly begin the story of The Force Awakens, we have to go behind the scenes for a little bit and travel back to 2012 when Disney acquired LucasFilm. A hefty price tag of $4 billion for the acquisition and with that, the announcement of a new round of Star Wars films would be produced. George Lucas, the creator of the Star Wars franchise, had actually developed ideas for a new round of films as far back as the 1980's, but made the prequels first to round out the story that the original trilogy started. However, Lucas never got around to making Episodes 7, 8 or 9. Our hosts speculate that the effort of making the prequels and the backlash he was receiving for those in addition to the near constant changes he was adding to the original films probably didn't motivate him to direct another film. Following Disney's major purchase, legendary producer Kathleen Kennedy was placed in charge of LucasFilm and tabbed JJ Abrams as the director for Episode 7 who quickly moved to say that Lucas' ideas for the sequel films would not be used and they would proceed with their own creative group and ideas. There is much speculation as to why Abrams and Kennedy would go this route (probably Disney execs), but the bottom line is that Lucas had plenty of time to make those films and he simply chose not to do so. Star Wars The Force Awakens Cast List Original Cast Harrison Ford as Han Solo: Obviously Ford has had a great career outside of playing Solo, but he returns to the role that made him a star and is a bright spot for this film. Unfortunately, we are met with his death at the end. We won't lie, it got us feeling sad as we see a beloved Star Wars character's story come to an end, killed by his own son too! Carrie Fischer as General Organa: Fischer returns to her legendary role and contributes to the reunion of the original trilogy cast. The years were not exactly kind to Fischer as she struggled with alcohol and drugs, but it should be noted that she publicly spoke about it, even in seminars, to bring awareness to alcoholism and addiction. We thank you Carrie! Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker: While Hamill has no lines of dialogue, his presence in the film serves as a McGuffin. Our hosts believe that he was not made a bigger part in the film as it would be distracting from the newer, younger actors (as it was we already had Solo and Leia taking attention away from the newcomers). Anthony Daniels as C-3PO: It was nice to see him come back once again to reprise his role adding to the reunion of the original trilogy cast. Peter Mayhew/Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca: Peter Mayhew returned to role of Chewbacca, but did not perform the part for the whole film due to knee and back problems; therefore, newcomer Joonas Suotamo also portrayed the part of Chewbacca in this film, and would take over the role in subsequent films. Newcomer Cast List Daisy Ridley as Rey: Ridley's major credits prior to being cast were several short films, but her performance helped launch her career as she's since starred in films like Murder on the Orient Express, Ophelia and the Peter Rabbit series. John Boyega as Finn: Our hosts have discussed Boyega in a prior film on the show, Attack the Block and we finally get to see him in a major blockbuster film! Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron: Isaac had filled up his resume with several minor roles prior to 2013 when he landed the lead in the Coen Brothers film Inside Llewyn Davis and like his counterparts,
I stan for Bitch Planet Triple Features, how I hope Star Trek Discover survives the paywall, The Good Place, and get a little frisky talking about john Boyega.
