When the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and California Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) both sued Activision, who knew it would result in 20+ videos on this channel. But here we are and with two big updates: (1) Activision has finally taken some large steps towards meeting the demands of its employees (especially ABetterABK), including a major reduction in CEO Bobby Kotick's pay, and (2) the EEOC has had its own issues with filing privleged information in opposition to the DFEH. California isn't the only party unhappy with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and its proposed $18 million settlement with Activision Blizzard. The Communications Workers of America (CWA), a labor union that has already helped Activision employees file one charge with the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), has decided to bring 31 separate complaints of its own. Are they legitimate? Are they not? Either way they're certainly very focused...on making sure Activision Blizzard leaves open the door for unionization. When the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) both sued and settled with Activision Blizzard on September 27, 2021, it was unclear how the State of California would take it. Now we know that the answer to that question was "not very well", as California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) has moved to challenged the proposed consent decree (settlement). What California may not have been prepared for, however, is just how the EEOC would react to such a request, and now their entire case may well be in jeopardy. A week after employees formed a worker group to push for better working conditions, management still hasn't even acknowledged their demands, and now fans are trying to figure out how best to support developers in their ongoing struggle.Though some have renewed calls to boycott all Activision Blizzard products, it remains far from clear whether that's something any developers at the company, including the women most mistreated by it, even support a boycott. Kotaku reached out to a number of current and former Activision Blizzard developers for their thoughts on how fans can best try to bring about change at the company. Some didn't respond.
