Sir George Martin was the Beatles' extraordinary producer and the most acclaimed and celebrated music producer of the rock era. No one comes close to Sir George for the innovation and sheer perfection of his body of work. It's almost an accident that he worked with the Beatles. Before meeting them he was in charge of EMI's Parlophone label where he produced comedy and novelty acts like Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan. His introduction to the Beatles only came about after they were rejected by 17 other record labels. When he brought them in for an audition he was not very impressed, but he was intrigued by their energy and charisma. Sir George has said that in the beginning he was the master and they were the students, but in time this role reversed and they became the masters and he the student. This transformation was due to the genius of Lennon and McCartney and their constant pushing him to create more and different sounds and effects. It's beyond discussion that the Beatles would not have been the Beatles without George Martin. From convincing Paul to use a string quartet on “Yesterday”, to his slowed down then sped up piano solo on “In My Life”, to his creation of a circus swirl on “Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite”, to his seamless combination of two takes at different speeds and different keys on “Strawberry Fields” - he truly was the 5th Beatle. He went on to produce a host of other artists and hits including Jeff Beck, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, America and Gerry and the Pacemakers. In his career, he produced 30 number-one hit singles in the UK and 23 number-one hits in the United States, winning six Grammys. Think about how lucky we were that fate brought together the Beatles and Sir George Martin. Together they changed the world. —----------------------------------------------------------- The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! Introducing Follow Your Dream Reflections - a new feature of the podcast where from time to time Robert shares observations drawn from his many conversations with remarkable creative artists. After more than 725 conversations with artists from around the world, Robert has begun to notice certain patterns about creativity and the artistic life. Here are the first two Reflections. #1: The Self-Starters. In this Reflection, Robert discusses one of the most striking patterns he has observed: how many great artists are self-starters who discover their passion and pursue their craft from a very young age. #2: The Virtuous Creative Loop. In this Reflection, Robert describes what he calls the virtuous creative loop — the idea that conversations with artists can lead to relationships, collaborations, and new creative work. In other words, conversation becomes connection, connection inspires creativity, creativity leads to new art, and that new art is then shared globally. —----------------------------- CLICK HERE FOR TRANSCRIPTS OF THESE REFLECTIONS

Hi everybody, and welcome to our 5th Anniversary celebration! I started this podcast during the pandemic when musicians like me could neither perform nor even rehearse. I needed something creative to do, and someone suggested to me that I should start a podcast. But I had no idea what that was. I had never even listened to one.But the more I looked into it the more I thought why not give it a shot. I had no audience and no guests, but I did have an idea - to encourage people to follow their dream, just as I had followed my youthful music dream later in life.So on March 21, 2021 I aired my first show. My guest was “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, America's most famous radio personality, a friend of mine and a true National Treasure. Bruce introduced the Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965! And from there I was off to the races. The show started to catch on and grow. It took two years to get to 1 million downloads. Today we're at 4.5 million downloads with listeners on every continent in 200 countries! I've now released over 725 episodes. My guests are all world class creative artists - musicians, actors, authors, directors, photographers, storytellers, even poets. My interviews are conversations, with humor and respect. And I'm pleased to say that some of my guests have become musical collaborators with me as well, which is the icing on the cake.I want to thank you, the audience, for making this show so popular. I look forward to year 6. As I like to say, keep on rockin - and we'll see you in the next episode.—-----------------------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! This is a tribute to Bert Kaempfert, German orchestra leader and songwriter who was responsible for some of the biggest and most important songs of the pop era, including signature hits of Frank Sinatra and Wayne Newton. And he had a major impact on the career of the Beatles too.Kaemphert was born in Hamburg in 1923 and studied at the Hamburg School of Music. He formed an orchestra and had his first hit in 1960 with “Wonderland By Night”, which turned him and the orchestra into international stars. In 1961 he launched the recording career of the Beatles when he produced a song called “My Bonnie” for Tony Sheridan and hired the Beatles as the backing band. At the same session he recorded the Beatles first singles, “Ain't She Sweet” sung by John Lennon, and “Cry For A Shadow”, a song composed by John and George Harrison.Kaempfert composed the music to “Strangers In The Night” for Sinatra. Jimi Hendrix worked a bit of that song into his solo in “Wild Thing” at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. And Kaempfert wrote the music for the song “Danke Schoen”, which to this day is Wayne Newton's best known song.Kaempfert also wrote the music for the song “L-O-V-E” which was a hit for Nat King Cole, and “A Swingin Safari”, which became the theme song for “The Match Game” on TV. —----------------------------------------------------------- The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! I aired 260 episodes, mainly interviews with famous and amazing musicians and other creatives, but also Special Episodes featuring my new musical works, tribute episodes, and Encore episodes. As I've done in the past, I've put together a Highlights Show featuring some of the best excerpts from ten of the episodes. He talks about the rumor that the band was high on psychedelics during that memorable performance. Arturo Sandoval is one of the greatest jazz trumpeters of all time. He grew up in Cuba and had to defect to come to the U.S. He talks about how Dizzy Gillespie was instrumental in getting him and his bandmates out of Cuba and their first gig in the U.S. Jeffrey Biegel is an acclaimed Grammy winning concert pianist. He's a good friend of Neil Sedaka, the legendary pop star and composer. He tells the story about how Neil informed his piano teacher at Juilliard about his first pop hit. Giora Schmidt is a virtuoso American-Israeli violinist. He tells the story of what happened when he flew on a commuter plane and there was no room in the overhead for his very expensive concert violin. Ivor Davis is a renowned journalist, investigative reporter and author. He tells what it was like to travel with and cover The Beatles on their 1964 tour of America. BEATLES EXCLUSIVE!! Featuring the first recordings by John, Paul, George and Ringo, recorded “live” in Hamburg, Germany in 1962. My guest today is Nigel Pearce, Beatles expert, who previously was a guest on this podcast. The songs you will hear were recorded over the last four nights of their final run in Hamburg at The Star Club. The recordings were made on an amateur tape recorder with one microphone. The tapes were lost for many years, but after they were found the tracks were enhanced using modern technology. They capture the band at a critical juncture, just before they returned to England and then exploded onto the world stage. The songs which were recorded were part of their live set and went on to become famous when they were properly recorded in the studio. So hold onto your hats as you listen to the earliest recordings of “I Saw Her Standing There”, “Roll Over Beethoven” and “Twist And Shout”.—-----------------------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries!Click here for All Episodes Click here for Guest List Click here for Guest Groupings Click here for Guest TestimonialsClick here to Subscribe Click here to receive our Email UpdatesClick here to Rate and Review the podcast—----------------------------------------FOR FURTHER INFORMATION:https://www.musicglue.com/bespoke-editions/products/the-beatles—----------------------------------------ROBERT'S LATEST RELEASE:“MA PETITE FLEUR STRING QUARTET” is Robert's latest release.
