Donna lives and works in Tucson Arizona with Keller Williams Southern Arizona while Eric lives and works in San Antonio Texas with Keller Williams Heritage. They are also siblings, and they grew up in a small Northwest Ohio village of Lindsey. Their idyllic small-town childhood laid the foundation for what would become the structure of their lives and careers in real estate. We hope you will join us as we reminisce, reflect, and correlate how our childhood and life in rural Ohio still impacts our dealings with our clients today.  We simply have to acknowledge the heat, just a little more.  It just AIN"T an option to stay home and in your air conditioned, super cool abode.  We work, we play, we go out with friends, and we practice sports and exercise.  How do residents cope with the summer heat in our areas?  Well we know that meteorologists cook hotdogs on their dashboard.  We have fans and misters, and just because, you may need to bring a sweater too, as if 110 farenheit is hot enough.   Elizabeth McCullough of Alpha Cat: How do you take the image of a black hole and make it positive? According to Elizabeth McCullough, aka Alpha Cat, "When I wrote that song I'd just read how astronomers had determined that you could actually escape a black hole, but only by going all the way through and out the other side. And that leads to all this worm hole and time travel theory, where not only do you avoid annihilation, but you arrive at a place you might never have reached otherwise. It's an amazing metaphor for transformation, and ultimately hopeful. That's why the end of the song is: you gotta go deeper it's the only way out.   A friendship with Television bassist Fred Smith, who agreed to produce a demo, became 1999’s EP Real Boy. With only 150 copies sent to college radio stations, Real Boy ended up in the CMJ National Add Charts not once, but twice, receiving more airplay adds than such formidable and widely distributed offerings as Beck's Midnight Vultures, and Metallica's S&M. It went on to spend six weeks in the national airplay charts, unusual for an EP.   The follow up to Real Boy, October 2001’s Pearl Harbor, was, in the wake of the 9/11 attacks, unfortunately timed. With an image of a bomb and the sound effects of a glass building falling down, the CD was eerily prescient. It was not well received initially, for obvious reasons. Upon rerelease in February 2002, it did much better, receiving significant airplay on college radio, and winning a couple “best of” awards that year.   With the Alpha Cat song “Pearl Harbor,” it' becomes apparent how longtime photographer McCullough's previous passion has informed her current love. Without an understanding of how equally light and its absence form the world we see before us, it's difficult to imagine McCullough having had the vocabulary to describe that world musically. "It occurred to me that this place was called Pearl Harbor before it was bombed, and that it must be because literally, there were pearls in the harbor. I tried to imagine what it might take to get back to where that place was about treasure, rather than destruction.”   In 2005, following the ending of an unfortunate romantic entanglement, McCullough decided to move to L.A. to work with drummer Jason Smith, who had gigged with Alpha Cat several times in Los Angeles over the previous years. Recording began on the album Venus Smile in April of 2006, and 15 instrumental tracks were completed with the help of engineer Jon Mattox, guitarist Doug Pettibone (Lucinda Williams, John Mayer), bassist Reggie McBride, (Elton John), and Jason Smith on drums.   Seven vocal tracks were completed as well, but by July, McCullough fell into a real life black hole, losing her voice and experiencing a profound emotional and psychological breakdown. She was unable to complete the record.   Years of depression, hospitalizations and treatment, including a round of ECT followed with no result. But in 2013 an experimental treatment yielded some relief from the devastating suicidality that had plagued her, and she attempted a return to music. She booked the first of two gigs in London at the legendary 12 Bar Club. However, her perceived betrayal by both her heart and her music, rehearsals and the prospect of returning to the stage brought extreme anxiety and fear. She began to drink to cope. The 12 Bar gigs were virtually unattended, a sense of hopelessness set in again, and the drinking continued.   Fortunately, McCullough decided to revisit the Venus Smile recordings that actually had been completed. She enlisted engineer Brett (Cosmo) Thorngren to do mixes of the songs, with encouraging results. And as it turned out, she had found a new champion in Thorngren. But it wasn’t until early 2019, with newfound sobriety and the retreat of long held fears, that she began to listen to those mixes anew, and began to appreciate them and realize that maybe there was something in this music after all. And then, in early June, McCullough experienced an epiphany, and decided to put out those songs as an LP. The result is the new record Thatched Roof Glass House. At long last, her journey through the worm hole seems to be complete     Elizabeth McCullough  info https://alphacat.band/home https://www.facebook.com/alphacatband/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/6LLx0yaBiRPaPXPZOgAqoz

UPDATE: During Covid 19 Lockdown Im re publishing some of the most popular episodes. Good friend of the show Phil Ryan is a top man and as he cant tour right now he has taken his live music into the street where he lives to entertain the locals who are loving it. Check out this chat we had a while back before all the madness started to find out what makes Phil tick..... Phil Ryan has been a passionate campaigner – from helping the homeless to be self-sufficient, to saving his beloved Denmark Street from the voracious appetite of London’s property owning developers. His astonishing musical career has sent Phil across the world over the last forty years—a highlight being when he fronted the Animals in Moscow’s Red Square in front of 100,000 fans. He’s a singer-song writer as well as an entrepreneur who is never afraid to try something bold and new. This could be anything from setting up London’s iconic 12 Bar Club, to the numerous novels he’s written, and scoring the stage version of Silas Marner. Over a Victoria sponge cake at Region’s Park Café, he shared his passionate views with me over some tea for you to eavesdrop on.  “So having a mad father who used to jump out of windows on fire for a living means your childhood is going to be pretty unusual, and it was.”  2:15 As you might gather from the above quote, Phil had a very interesting father, and perhaps more importantly, a father that pushed him headlong into a creative life. Phil had many books impressed upon him and became a voracious reader at an early age. This upbringing would push him to become a writer in his later years. But first came music. Phil’s first instrument was the ukulele, which he then graduated from to a banjo—and then around the age of 12 (when girls started to become more appealing to him) he moved on to the guitar.  6:10 Phil’s musical career advanced quickly, catching a few breaks here and there, managing to share the stage with Johnny Cash as just an 18 year-old with a 12 string guitar. There is a song that Phil will play from time to time that will choke him up—it has a line in it that goes “In five minutes your whole life can change”. This sums up his entire life, one filled with bizarre encounters and chance meetings that have taken him down roads he never knew were there.   “I talk about my life as a ‘Portfolio Career,’ which is actually immaturity masquerading as sense of purpose and plan.”  12:14  John Bird and Phil came together to start The Big Issue, where they tackled starting a magazine with a purpose. They both took on as many hats as they could to get the magazine up and running, and Phil is proud to say the rules he originally set in place are still used in the Big Issue. The magazine is a social enterprise—not a charity. It urges people to get up, take action, and start taking steps towards financial security and a sustainable lifestyle with The Big Issue’s help. As of now, The Big Issue is in 72 countries and has impacted millions of lives. 21:16 The Big Issue has spawned Big Invest –they managed to get millions and supporting hundreds of social enterprise business, things that directly influence the communities they service. And Phil is all about preserving communities and the beauty that holds them together, which for him is the magic of music—an art that he wishes London embraced more by supporting its local musicians.  Links www.philryanmusic.co.uk www.aswegrowold.com (http://www.aswegrowold.com) ---- Phil's beautiful new song and video www.silasmarner.co.uk (http://www.silasmarner.co.uk)    ---- Full stage musical pitch for Silas Marner Spotify: https://spoti.fi/2GLk0Cm (https://spoti.fi/2GLk0Cm) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrTuJlDWR64 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrTuJlDWR64%0d) PhilRyanMusic.co.uk (http://www.philryanmusic.co.uk/) Support this podcast

Some French Pop from Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Bardot and Les Kitschenette's. There's the new single from of Arrowe Hill, some stompin' Soul from Willie Kendrick and Dana Gillespie and 60's nuggets from The Vagrants and The Hardtimes. If that's not enough there's Sunset Drive and The Sound and a tribute to Ian McLagan and a truly classic Small Faces number. Plus the usual waffle, rambling, news and reviews including a special piece on the sad demise of The 12 Bar Club and the scandalous re-development of Denmark Street. Enjoy!

Harley appeared on the band's first two Bearsville Records albums "Halfnelson/Sparks" and "A Woofer In Tweeter's Clothing", and their very first visit to the UK back in the early Seventies. In Part 1, Harley talks about the band's formative years, when they were known as Halfnelson, and his first impressions of the Mael brothers and their music. First of all Harley talks about his latest musical project Crash 74 who he formed along with his wife Michelle, Nicky Forbes from The Revillos, Stevie Savage from The Roadholders, Dexy D'Angelo, Lee Sullivan and Paul Jensen, who played a stunning show at London's 12 Bar Club in May. Harley talks about how Crash 74 got together, and his eclectic mix of band mates! Part 2 of "Sparks: The Bearsville/Halfnelson Years" is coming soon...

Well Well Well.. after many starts I've finally gotten round to mixing my 3rd mix and all I can say is I'm very excited! I started out the month with a completely different set of tracks on my mind but after having two attempts at that mix, with technical glitches & then just plain bad mixing i got quite bored of those songs and moved onto some new ones which you will find in this mix! There are a few gems which I haven't been able to get into this mix, so expect an eclectic mix soon especially with some great french house which I've fallen in love with recently (l'amour et le violence for example is absolutely beautiful, check it out here: http://hypem.com/track/751518/Sebastien+Tellier+-+Lamour+et+la+violence+Boys+Noize+Remix and Comme Des Enfants.. I love the french vocals.. http://hypem.com/track/741737/Coeur+De+Pirate+-+Comme+Des+Enfants+Le+Matos+Andy+Carmichael+Remix). My next major party will be Pushca.com in May, i'm excited about that! Also this year I'm planning to head to Ibiza for my first time.. No plans booked as yet, let me know if you have any good suggestions. Anyway enough banter from me the track listing and the mix! (Remember I'm still new to this, however my mixes should be improving hopefully) Leave your thoughts in the comments! 1. Tunisia Bambaata (Mercury Remix) - Dj MEHDI 2. Let the Music Play (Death To The Throne Remix) - Shannon 3. Blue Monday (Vandilism remix) - Kurd Maverick 4. The Dream Machine - Gunstar 5. Quicksand (autoKratz Drags to Riches remix) - La Roux 6. Don't Upset the Rythm (Kissy Sell Out Vocal Mix) - Noisettes 7. Part of Me (DiscoTech Remix) - Chriss Cornell 8. Rich Girls (The Twelves Remix) - The Virgins 9. Crazy Train (Dot Com Remix) - Ozzy Osbourne 10. Every Little Earthquake (Clap Mike Armour Remix) - Little Boots 11. Drop The Tough (The Twelves remix) - Groove Armada 12. Breakfast (Mercury Remix) - LeLe 13. Lion (Bag Raiders Remix) - ZZZ 14. Ride Like The Wind (2008 Klaas Remix) - Michael Mind 15. Give It up (Kissy Sell Out Remix) - Datarock 16. Raise Me Up - Hercules & Love Affair I'm interested in potentially doing some Bar/Club nights at some point if you all think i'm up to it, I think it would be amazing! Ciao for now.. SamDman
