Meet the wonderful René Barbier Meyer, head winemaker at Clos Mogador winery in Priorat, Spain. René is a winemaker who believes in being close to the land, the grapes, and juice so that he can make unique, artisan, gastronomic wines. In our interview, he shares his philosophy of winemaking, which is very similar to the way that a musician would describe making music - it is about feel, technique, and adaptation. René practices very low intervention winemaking because he wants the people to experience the wine as it was meant to be. He comes from a long line of winemakers who are French in origin, but who found their home in northern Spain, focusing on indigenous grapes and passionate winemaking. Das Leben Charles Chaplins teilt sich in zwei große Bereiche. Charles Chaplin und Charlie Chaplin. Der Slapstick-Tramp und der politische Satiriker… naja, vereinfacht dargestellt zumindest. In seinem ersten großen Politischen Werk spielt Chaplin einen kleinen jüdischen Barbier der bei einem Unfall im ersten Weltkrieg sein Gedächtnis verlor. So hat er nicht mitbekommen, wie sein Land eine politische Kehrtwende gemacht hat. Ein Diktator hat das Ruder übernommen und den Juden wird das Leben schwer gemacht. Japp. Natürlich eine satirische Darstellung von Hitler-Deutschland. Da unser jüdischer Barbier keine Ahnung hat von all dem, muss er es auf die harte Tour lernen. Im Kampf mit den Nazis die ihn beinahe an einer Laterne aufknüpfen und durch die Zerstörung seines Friseurladens. Mit seiner Love-Interest aus der Nachbarschaft träumt er von einer besseren Welt, in der wir friedlich miteinander leben. Da er sich ein wenig zu vehement gewehrt hat, wird er ins Konzentrationslager gebracht, aus dem er es irgendwann schafft auszubrechen. Der Clou an der Sache: er sieht dem Führer zum verwechseln ähnlich. Chaplin spielt natürlich eine Doppelrolle und spielt den Führer unvergleichlich lachhaft. Und so halten den Tramp alle für den Führer, als er in geklauter Uniform mit seinem Kumpel auf den Straßen auftaucht. Um sein Leben zu retten, muss er für einen Moment Hitler sein, aber alles in ihm weigert sich und so holt er stattdessen zu einer Rede für die Freiheit und die Nächstenliebe aus. Und hier endet der Film. Ein Tolles und Kraftvolles Ende… und doch sitzt der 13 Jährige Johannes vor dem Fernseher und denkt: “Und jetzt? Was passiert jetzt? Überlebt er? Wird er gelyncht? Wird die Welt eine Bessere?” diese Panik, nicht zu wissen was passiert, verfolgt mich bis heute. Ich will dass es ihm gut geht. Celeste Barbier is a Professional Vocalist, Ordained Minister, and Certified Expert Sound Healer. She is also a women’s group travel curator & leader, and public speaker.  And,  hopefully future published author based in Oceanside, California. Known for a versatile repertoire spanning more than a century of music, Celeste brings warmth, precision, and emotional resonance to corporate events, private celebrations, weddings, and memorials. In 2019 and 2020, Celeste released two professional albums, with one original song gaining strong traction leading into 2020. King Hancock: The Radical Influence of a Moderate Founding Father (Harvard UP, 2023) is a rollicking portrait of the paradoxical patriot, whose measured pragmatism helped make American independence a reality. Americans are surprisingly more familiar with his famous signature than with the man himself. In this spirited account of John Hancock's life, Brooke Barbier depicts a patriot of fascinating contradictions--a child of enormous privilege who would nevertheless become a voice of the common folk; a pillar of society uncomfortable with radicalism who yet was crucial to independence. About two-fifths of the American population held neutral or ambivalent views about the Revolution, and Hancock spoke for them and to them, bringing them along. Orphaned young, Hancock was raised by his merchant uncle, whose business and vast wealth he inherited--including household slaves, whom Hancock later freed. By his early thirties, he was one of New England's most prominent politicians, earning a place on Britain's most-wanted list and the derisive nickname King Hancock. On les croise encore aux États-Unis, en Europe ou en Asie. Mais pourquoi ces couleurs ? Et surtout, que viennent faire le bleu, le blanc et le rouge sur une enseigne de coiffeur ?Une origine médiévaleL'histoire commence bien avant le simple rasage de barbe. Au Moyen Âge, les barbiers n'étaient pas seulement des coiffeurs : ils pratiquaient aussi de petits actes médicaux. On les appelait parfois les “barbiers-chirurgiens”. Ils saignaient les patients pour “purger” le corps, selon la théorie des humeurs, posaient des ventouses, arrachaient des dents ou recousaient des plaies. Bref, c'étaient de véritables praticiens polyvalents.Le symbole des couleursLes couleurs de l'enseigne rappellent directement ces pratiques. Le rouge représente le sang. Le blanc, les bandages utilisés pour comprimer et arrêter l'hémorragie. Quant au bleu, il symboliserait les veines, c'est-à-dire la circulation sanguine que l'on cherchait à contrôler avec les saignées.À l'origine, les barbiers accrochaient réellement des bandages ensanglantés à l'extérieur, enroulés autour d'un bâton, pour signaler leur activité. Avec le temps, cette image s'est stylisée en spirale colorée.Un objet codifiéDans certains pays, comme en Angleterre dès le XIVᵉ siècle, l'activité des barbiers-chirurgiens a été réglementée. Ils avaient même une enseigne officielle : un poteau surmonté d'un bassin, rappelant celui où l'on recueillait le sang. Le cylindre rayé, que l'on connaît aujourd'hui, est l'héritier direct de cette tradition.Pourquoi ces couleurs sont restéesMême après la séparation des métiers — les chirurgiens devenant des praticiens à part entière, et les barbiers se concentrant sur la coiffure et le rasage —, les enseignes ont gardé ce code visuel. Aux États-Unis, le bleu, blanc et rouge a parfois été interprété comme un clin d'œil patriotique aux couleurs du drapeau. Mais l'origine véritable reste médicale. En Europe, certaines enseignes n'affichent d'ailleurs que le rouge et le blanc.ConclusionL'enseigne de barbier est donc bien plus qu'un simple logo coloré.
