This week we're chilling out on the porch with Friday (1995), the laid-back comedy that gave us smoky backyards, unforgettable one-liners, and the kind of neighborhood drama you can only survive with a good friend and a bad plan. Craig (Ice Cube) just got fired on his day off, Smokey (Chris Tucker) owes a drug dealer $200 by tonight, and Big Worm isn't exactly known for his patience. Between dodging bullets, borrowing cash, and roasting everyone in sight, it's a day where nothing goes right—but somehow, everything goes down. It's laughs, life lessons, and “Bye, Felicia” in its purest form. Did you enjoy the episode? Don't forget to hit that subscribe button and join us for more retro movie discussions! Want even more? Degens Andy S and Brandon Bombay decide to get high on their days off as they talk about the comedy classic, 'Friday.' Andy starts off the hot summer day by recalling the time he used to cop off an ice cream man, and much like Smokey and Big Worm, he got behind in payments. Then the guys dive in on one of the great hang flicks that perfectly captures the eclectic mix of characters you grow up with in your neighborhood. They reminisce about parents that would lock their kids out, households that would have one of something but never the other, and getting high with your friends while you're unemployed. Of course, the movie is helped by an insane comedy cast that included John Witherspoon that advised "nobody go in that bathroom for about 35, 45 minutes," and an undeniable star-making turn from Chris Tucker. Add in a heaping of hilarious eclectic characters, prime Nia Long, and more quotable lines than the '90s could contain, and you have an endurable film that ages finer than Mrs. Parker in jean shorts. This episode is guaranteed to leave you laughing ... and you know this, mannnn.

B-Real TV alumni, has photographed bands such as Korn and Slipknot, and loves pro wrestling - Shaun Vizzy and I discuss his favorite film "Friday" directed by F Gary Gray who stars Ice Cube and Chris Tucker. It's a slice-of-life style of a film that's set in south central Los Angeles where two homies hang out and smoke weed but they get into a sort of laid back but messy situation with the neighborhood drug dealer. It's beyond an LA film or a hood film of sorts, but a film that represents community in a raw form. You do get to see life from a perspective that we can relate. You see real people. We talk about how Shaun saw this film but in a bootlegged VHS form BUT features a cut that's different from the actual theatrical version. We also talk about my disagreement of Roger Ebert's review of the film, especially the third act. Shaun and I talk about the legendary cast and we also discuss the character of "Big Worm" and how central it is to the film overall. This is a film where I did say that some of the scenes don't push the story forward but I fail to realize that LIFE itself goes in the pace we set it to be. Thanks to Shaun for wanting to do a podcast with me especially on this film that I personally feel should be in the United States Library of Congress if it's not there already.Shaun Vizzyhttps://linktr.ee/shaunvizzy
This week, we roll up on the porch with Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, and the crew to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the stoner hood comedy classic Friday. Craig just got fired on his day off, Smokey smoked the whole stash, and Big Worm wants his money—or bullets will fly. Thankfully, former Blockbuster besties Danielle and Jackie are joined by their cousin Marc to break down every hilarious moment. From cereal sadness and toilet talks with dad to the unmatched chaos of Deebo rolling through like the neighborhood Thanos, it's all good in the '90s hood. The squad also deep dives deep into Chris Tucker's improv magic, Ice Cube's sneaky social commentary, and why every Black neighborhood has a Felicia, a Miss Parker, and a dude who's always “between jobs.” It's part stoner analysis, part family reunion, and 100% iconic.·Season 5 Episode 2·—No More Late Fees https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com909-601-NMLF (6653)—Follow Us on Social:Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/nomorelatefees TikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@nomorelatefees Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/nomorelatefeesYoutubehttps://www.youtube.com/@nomorelatefees Twitterhttps://x.com/NoMoreLateFees —CONQUERingmyconquering.com10% Off Code: JACKIE10—NostaBeautyhttps://nostabeauty.com 20% Off Code: NMLF—Marc's Previous EpisodesSnootchie Bootchies, it's Marc!https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/snootchie-bootchies-its-marcJay and Silent Bob Strike Backhttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/jay-and-silent-bob-strike-backMarc Strikes Back!https://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/marc-strikes-back-parenthood-side-hustles-and-matt-damon-cameosEurotriphttps://nomorelatefeespodcast.com/episode/eurotrip

TUESDAY HR 1 Who lives the gimmick? New suits in the building. Guess trys a power move and eats a bagel right in front of their face? Ryan takes a huge lose on the Vikings.
What do George Harrison and Big Worm from the movie Friday have in common? Messing with their money is like messing with their emotions. But Big Perm, I mean Big Worm, doesn't write banging rock tunes about it. George's "Taxman," the lead off track on Revolver, finds the guitarist squaring off against the greedy hand of the man for taking 98% (NINETY EIGHT) percent of the Beatles income, income they'd actually (unlike so many millionaires and billionaires) worked INCREDIBLY hard to achieve. It's a fantastically sardonic lyric, with a brilliant performance by the band (Paul's basically inventing psychedelic bass parts here while also providing a ripping guitar solo). It sets the tone for Revolver by moving away from the romantic theme of so many of their songs, into a new, cool, and darker world. Joining us this week is the wonderful Vinyl Benjy! If you're on social media and follow music accounts or record accounts, the odds are high you've seen his smiling, pleasant self showcasing records and cool trivia about them. His record collection is swoonworthy, and the dude knows his stuff! We talk about the joys of record collecting, the importance of chap stick, George's financial gripes, and Julia's got a real spicy hot take for us! Check Benjy out on Instagram @vinylbenjy and TikTok @vinylbenjy! What do you think about "Taxman" at 79? Too high? Too low? This week, Alan and Quinta were joined by Kevin Frazier to talk through some of the week's biggest national security news, including:“KOSA Nostra.” An overwhelming majority of senators voted to pass the Kids Online Safety Act, also known as KOSA—a bipartisan piece of legislation that would impose new responsibilities on online platforms in looking after their underage users. Despite the 91-3 vote in the Senate, KOSA has faced strong opposition from a number of civil rights and internet freedom groups, and its path ahead in the House remains uncertain. What's next for the bill, and what does its success so far say about the state of tech policy in the U.S.?“Herding Llamas.” The company formerly known as Facebook announced the release of a new AI large language model, Llama 3.1. Meta described the model as “open-source”—but is it responsible to release such a powerful model that way? And what does this mean for the AI arms race in Silicon Valley?“Keeping the Nine in Line.” Fresh on the heels of the Supreme Court's ruling granting presidents broad immunity from criminal prosecution, President Biden announced his support for a slate of reforms aimed squarely at the Court: a constitutional amendment ruling out presidential immunity, along with 18-year term limits and a binding code of conduct for Supreme Court justices. But any of these proposals would face a difficult road toward implementation. What is the White House's aim here? For object lessons, Alan suggested that listeners might enjoy homemade cucumber agua fresca as a cooling summer beverage.
