We have to start off this podcast by showing love to two R&B legends that we lost recently. Andre Harrell and Little Richard both passed away over the weekend so we talk about their legacy and impact on the genre. Afterwards we talk about Brandy's new single "Baby Mama" with Chance The Rapper. We also discuss whether these Versus battles are necessary and if Brandy should really go head to head with Monica. We also talk about new albums from JoJo, The Bonfyre and Rico Love. We also discuss the new reality and what it will mean for R&B concerts. We also debate whether artists should charge for virtual concerts. The Grammy's happened last week but the bigger headline was that they're apparently rigged according to their former CEO. We talk about why we're not surprised about that at all. We also talk about Edd's conversation that he had with someone from the Grammy's when they mentioned that Cardi B deserved to win despite the fact that they hadn't even heard the other albums. Lots of new R&B albums came out, but we didn't get a chance to listen to all of them. We decided to talk about K. Michelle and Kevin Ross' this week and gave our thoughts on those projects. We'll be sure to talk about Luke James and Syleena Johnson next week. We also talk about the success of artists like Robin Thicke and The Bonfyre and whether the blue eyed soul movement still exists. 0:00:27 - The Grammy's are rigged?! 0:02:55 - Edd's Twitter battle with a Grammy committee 0:12:27 - Our thoughts on K. Michelle's new album "All Monster Are Human" 0:16:40 - Will the Country community accept K. Michelle? 0:18:15 - Our thoughts on Kevin Ross' new project "Audacity, Vol 1" 0:26:00 - R&B died when Robin Thicke dropped the "Paula" album apparently 0:30:04 - R&B should be judged based on quality, not skin color 0:34:30 - The Bonfyre has two radio hits but not a lot of buzz on the internet. 0:38:00 - Are people tired of the blue eyed soul movement?
This week on the 'Chillmode' With LC aka Metro Beatz, Chill with music from Snoh Aalegra, Arin Ray, The Whispers, Atlantic Starr, The Bonfyre and more!!..Listen every Sunday night 10pm on mocradio.com
Robin Thicke is coming to Savannah on Fantasia's "Sketchbook" Tour with Tank plus the Bonfyre. Listen as he talks baby making music, his love for women, his late dad Alan Thicke, soul music and going VIP at his show coming to the Savannah Civic Center on 11/30.
The R&B general found new life on his last album “Savage” when he dropped his single “When We”. The success of the record was a shocker to a lot of people because “When We” not only dominated Urban AC, the song also crossed over to Urban radio and found some success there. This was considered a huge accomplishment to many in the industry because Urban radio is typically for younger artists, not one who has been releasing music since 2001. Tank is back with his new album “Elevation” and YouKnowIGotSoul had a chance to talk to him about the project, his collaboration with JoJo and his thoughts on R&B fans who want the “old Tank” back. He also talks about his label R&B Money and his upcoming “Sketchbook” tour with Fantasia, Robin Thicke and The Bonfyre.
Epic R&B news came out this past week as Fantasia announced she will be hitting the road with Robin Thicke, Tank and The Bonfyre. We had the chance interview the new R&B star Bonfyre to discuss her new project as well as the upcoming tour. We also find out more about her early beginnings which included performing in a Chinese restaurant. We also discuss the success of her single "Automatic" as well as her new single "U Say". On our end we discuss new music from Missy Elliott, Lyfe Jennings and Raphael Saadiq. We also take the time to highlight Donell Jones' second album "Where I Wanna Be" which came out twenty years ago! Lastly we talk about this Dallas Austin/Shawn Stockman beef that's happening on social media. 0:00:15 - Popeyes' new chicken sandwich 0:02:30 - Our thoughts on Missy Elliott's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award + new EP "Iconology" 0:06:10 - New albums from Lyfe Jennings and Raphael Saadiq 0:08:45 - In depth discussion about Fantasia's new Sketchbook tour with Robin Thicke, Tank and The Bonfyre 0:14:08 - Summer Walker's new song "Playing Games" and the problem with songs that clock in at under three minutes 0:17:45 - Revisiting Donell Jones' second album "Where I Wanna Be" 0:22:10 - The Bonfyre joins us on the #SoulBackPodcast 0:22:45 - One album that impacted her growing up 0:24:48 - Her journey and being in artist development for almost five years 0:28:45 - The creative process behind her EP with Raphael Saadiq 0:33:18 - Her new single "U Say" with 6lack 0:36:38 - Sharing information on her upcoming debut album 0:38:00 - Being part of the Sketchbook tour 0:45:02 - SoulBack Track Of The Day: Lauryn Hills - Ex Factor 0:47:10 - Playa Please Award: Dallas Austin/Shawn Stockman's beef
