On this episode we hear from Emma. She says hospitality was in her DNA, having travelled and moved around a lot growing up, she knew this was going to be a part of her life. She made a career for herself in marketing and PR working for various brands in different parts of the world, like IHG, Starwood, Raffles, TFE and more, before she decided to start her own business. For her business she has focused on brand strategy, and we have an interesting conversation around branding, what it means and for someone who is looking into a career in branding what they should be looking into. Her one piece of advice is when it comes to marketing, dream big. She shares a fun story of a PR stunt she did on the helipad of the Burj al Arab in Dubai. The key learning that she has taken away from her career is to be present and show up.

There's no shortage of attacks on public golf but how we respond to those, as players and an industry, sets the tone for how successful we will be in protecting the game. Inspired by a column written by co-host Jimmy Emanuel we explore that issue on Ep 153 with the always interesting Sandy Jamieson. On this episode we hear from Marit. Originally from the Netherlands, she came to London for a five-month internship and basically never left. She stayed for 12 years working in various hotels across London in different operations roles in front desk. Each role she got through her networking and connections. She also took time for travelling in between roles for a reset. Due to her own interest in revenue management, she took the time to education herself in this field with the help of one of her colleagues. Then when a role became available, she jumped on it. When she moved to Australia, where she has now been for 15 years, she joined TFE hotels in revenue management. She and another colleague laid the foundations for revenue management in the organisation. We also discussed how her leadership has developed over the years and we both agreed that our styles adapt and change depending on who we are interacting with. She encourages her team to take time to self-reflect and also get feedback from her team on her leadership to continue to grow and develop.

Andy and Brendan quickly run through a great, full day of the PGA Championship at Oak Hill. They begin with some thoughts on the absolutely wonderful course conditions, which had balls bouncing and bounding all over for a mid May date. There are some thoughts on Higa's big moment and Bryson's return to the stage of competitive golf after a long, hard five-year journey. There are many other notes and comments including some shots of the day, quotes of the day, worst outfits, and reviews of Rory and his low Whoop score, Spieth, DJ, Brooksy, Scheffler's pace of play, and Jason Day's practice-free week. I made a personal decision over a year ago to stop drinking. Not because I have a drinking problem, but rather because I was having a lot of anxiety and didn't feel like alcohol was doing me many favors in that area. I was curious. Sober curious. In today's episode, I'm talking about why I stopped drinking and how that decision has made me feel (both physically and mentally), as well as what it's like to be sober in a world where so many social situations revolve around drinking. Garrett and Meg Adkins (@megadkins_TFE) launch this Tuesday show by sharing their favorite memories from the erstwhile WGC-Dell Match Play. For the next segment, Garrett brings on Anne Walker, head coach of the stellar Stanford women's golf team, to talk about the NCAA season so far and get some inside info on the three Stanford players who will participate in this week's Augusta National Women's Amateur: Brooke Seay, Megha Ganne, and the dominant Rose Zhang. When thinking about increasing your sales, I want you to get back to the basics. Where you show up online is important to potential customers being able to find you. In today's episode, I'm talking about building trust with potential clients, getting really clear on your message and your offerings, and making sure that it's easy for interested customers to click on a link that takes them to sign up for your course, book a 1:1 call, or buy your products. In this episode, you'll learn… [03:06] Why it's important to focus on the strategy needed to increase sales (more than the avenues you use) [05:00] Why you want to build trust with potential clients, what that has to do with increasing sales, and how to do it [08:08] Getting clear on your message and offerings and what you do, how writing it down helps solidify your goals, and how an FAQ document can be helpful [11:14] Why posting your links in multiple places is important, and why repetitive with links is actually a good thing [14:29] Putting yourself in your customers' shoes and understanding your customers' journey from “start to continue,” as I like to say Get full show notes and the episode transcript: https://nicolej.com/blogs/podcast/Three-Easy-Ways-to-Increase-Your-Sales If you're looking for more support from other entrepreneurs facing similar challenges, join us over in TFE and follow me on Instagram for more uplifting business tips!

With the U.S. Open a little over two weeks away, we are well into the "from many, one" process. The 2022 edition will be held at The Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts, for the first time since 1988.* Andy Johnson and Garrett Morrison talk about the deep history of professional golf at the course, the maze that is the championship routing, and the USGA's planned setup. Gil Hanse stops by (26:45) to share insights from more than a decade of working at The Country Club, then Andy and Garrett wrap up with some holes to keep an eye on and a few critiques of the course's weaknesses. * A number of times in this pod, we mistakenly refer to the 1988 U.S. Open as the 1989 U.S. Open. TFE regrets the error.

It was a great pleasure to do a duo episode with the guys as they briefly share the legacy of The Flesh Eaters as well as their current projects. TFE impacted and altered the Hollywood/LA scene in the late 70's and into the early 80's. They blended and liquified genres their entire career and as of recently they've gotten back together! It was rad to not only meet the legendary Chris D. in this brief encounter, but that of Larry Schemel's, as he's performed with Death Valley Girls, Midnight Movies, Kill Sybil and of course The Flesh Eaters. Keep an eye out and both ears to the ground for part 2 in the near future. Enjoy!Support the show (https://cash.app/$PrimitiveManSoundz ) Our GDPR privacy policy was updated on August 8, 2022. Our Oscar-obsessed time machine takes us back to post Depression / pre World War II Hollywood when You Can't Take It With You beat Jezebel to the Best Picture prize. Topics include: screwball comedy, jukebox musicals, and Hollywood's obsession with the Antebellum South.
