Luke fights two guys to the death basically, and Bo is nearly smeared by a train at the same time. But just like last time we reviewed this if it weren't for the miniature stunt - which thankfully were minimal - this episode would be an 11 out of 10. The General gets turned into a remote controlled car, set to detail a train full of money with a load of dynamite in the trunk. Boss Hogg was behind the scheme of course, but the Dukes came back and nearly fought to the death to protect the most important their lives: their honor? No. Their fortune? No? Their reputation? NO! It was their car! We have all learned this life lesson, and like them we all know that cars have a soul, need to be protected, and need to be fought for. I give this episode - 10 Corndogs, of which are Season 7 Corndogs, which do not have an equivalent exchange rate to say Season 2 or something. The leader of the crime ring fakes her identity as a newspaper reporter and the then hilarity ensues…..as the diamonds are pursued by Boss Hogg and Rosco - and hidden - without their knowledge - with Boss and Rosco, and then the diamonds are turned over to the FBI…..but it's not the real FBI, it's the fake FBI. But then Bo and Luke get them back. Everybody got that? In the meantime we get one more childlike fun where Rosco asks Boss to play with a Bugs Bunny doll and Cletus is sent to fetch 7 Corndogs for lunch, 1 for Rosco and 6 for Boss, and line that defines the Dukes of Hazzard that made every kid my age believe that a real stud of a man didn't throw footballs or play golf - they drove cars fast. 10 Dogs. That's right. This is the Star Trek to Dukes of Hazzard crossover that will have Ryan Brutt and I on the same side of the fight….until this episode is over, of course. Plot: Boss Hogg's umpteenth previously unnamed nephew shows up in Hazzard to make some ill gotten gains…only to accidentally fall in love with Daisy Duke. That's all well and good except Boss Hogg, Uncle Jessie, and all of the evil business partners are against it…and to make things worse, the evil guys want Daisy killed before she learns too much! But then the Hogg wants to marry the Duke and the evil partners think it's so sweet. This leads to every body panel on Rosco's patrol car being surgically removed in a hilarious fashion, a massive car chase, a few recycled car jumps, and a remarkable amount of improv by Tom and John. The Dukes meet a female NASCAR driver and have then do the unthinkable.......they just treat her as a complete equal and respect her highly! Anyway, Daisy gets recruited by Molly Hargrove, a former lady NASCAR driver who needed a new driver to pay her bills…..at any cost.  Her plan is to teach Daisy how to win as a no good dirty evil driver…..someone so heinous they would spin people out on the last lap of the Daytona 500. Can you imagine such a thing? Anyway,  Boss Hogg weasels in on the deal, Bo and Luke beat up bad guys, Daisy quits and Daisy comes back home. This is the episode that made me think becoming a race car driver was super lucrative and that basically driving any car was like driving a stock car as long as it has a window net. Listen in for this episode, direct from a hotel room! Good news: we had the episode. Bad news: with this setup there was no way to have a birthday game and we had to recycle a Dukes review. Bern and CD were (not) crushed. Enjoy! K&F Show Summary: This is the Dukes of Hazzard episode that shows in America, democracy still works.. until the next episode when democracy will be forgotten, because in Season 2 long-lasting consequences only last exactly one episode. Smoke-show married mom "TC Rodgers" returns to Hazzard to run for county supervisor, a job held by Boss Hogg that has a number of privileges, including being the probation officer for Bo and Luke Duke. Bo and Luke help the smoke-show mom because 1) it's the right thing to do, 2) they think she's a smoke show, and 3) they do not know she's a married mom. In helping her win an election they also commit several FCC violations and perform electronic miracles by communicating via CB radio to people on telephones! And you know in the Blue Brothers with they put a loudspeaker on the Bluesmobile?  Well that bit came from this episode too. The entire first half of this new episode details it heavily. K&F Show Summary: Finally - the political Dukes episode we've been waiting for! Kinda. If there was an episode that could combine Nathan Warren with Ben Jones portraying Cooter, this would be it. Cooter - with God's blessed skills - steals President Jimmy Carter's car.Bo and Luke get him out of it, but not before using their smoking hot cousin to position herself as a faux-prostitute to distract the bad guys. Who are the bad guys in this one you ask? Boss Hogg - who has a car theft and chop shop ring. And Boss thinks his guys stole the car and wants it recovered to meet Jimmy Carter personally, but in the end it's Uncle Jesse that gets the call of thanks from the Oval Office. The Dukes of Hazzard go where many have gone before by using the same actors to play dual roles of themselves…..but this time we get to see the real General Lee vs it's duplicate while being gloriously directed by Paul Baxley. The plot is terrible, there are editing mistakes a plenty, but General fighting General will leave you ready to fight anyone, anywhere, and anytime! Boss Hogg hires two bad guys - played by one decent actor and one terrible one - to double Bo and Luke, then rob a bank in broad daylight in full of witnesses. The goal - get ride of the Dukes for all. It doesn't work, we get shots of the General inside that are so great, and multiple jumps worth singing for. "One Armed Bandits" is the first episode that started it all, and one of the 5 filmed on location in Georgia before it would be relocated to California for the remainder of the series. For purists, the first 5 episodes (and this in particular) is as good, gritty, and as pure as it gets. For me... it's just that weird one they would show in re-runs that was so different than all of the "real" ones from the later seasons I was used to. (I like campy Hollywood-ized versions of stuff.) Anyway, this is the episode where Bo and Luke play Robin Hood - and commit a criminal act against a criminal (Boss Hogg) - to give to the poor. This proves the statement that two wrongs can make a right, apparently. Bo and Luke meet with Cooter in the Starsky and Hutch Torino along with Blake Lively's dad, burglarize a truck filled with slot machines, place them around town, give the proceeds to the poor, and give the credit to Rosco, helping him get re-elected. Most of the scenes from the opening credit for the run of the show come from this episode and we get to settle once and for all which General Lee of the 3 used in this episode….really came first. In helping her win an election they also commit several FCC violations and perform electronic miracles by communicating via CB radio to people on telephones! And you know in the Blue Brothers with they put a loudspeaker on the Bluesmobile?  Well that bit came from this episode too. Have we all, every one of us, stared at a small humanlike doll and thought to ourselves, "What would it be like if this doll were like 35+ dudes and I starved them for six months in the University of Minnesota football stadium?" Of course we have; there's no need to even phrase it as a question. A notable fellow of science thought the same thing during World War II, and the results were the Minnesota Starvation Experiments, in which at least one dude just went full raccoon and started wandering around campus at night eating garbage. None of that is made up.Meanwhile in northeastern Oklahoma, the Duke Boys were watching, helpless, as Ole Boss Hogg stole a bunch of American Indian land AGAIN, dug a bafflingly high number of lead mines, abandoned them when they stopped making money, and left countless piles of lead and rock dust hundreds of feet high next to stagnant pools of acidic lead water sitting on top of gigantic underground man-made caverns that were supported only by old boards! Don't worry though—the Dukes never put two and two together to pin it on Boss Hogg, as they'd been severely lead poisoned by the air and water of Picher, Oklahoma, one of our nation's very worst Superfund sites that's uninhabitable to this very day. Ladies and gentlemen, it's Tar Creek, one of the more perfect examples of Oklahoma fellating businesses while said businesses burns the entire state down and puts on a fake nose and big glasses when it's time to foot the cleanup bill! This is a dumb episode, and for a series that started out with RV's full of hookers being driven over county lines that became a family friendly show with a magic car, that then became a joke with imposter Dukes cousins, that then tried to put the Dream Team back together with a family friendly focus, it's nice to end the series with a return of Hughie Hogg and his original two henchman. Again it's dumb. Boss Hogg thinks that there is a genie in his office. A real genie. That's all you need to know. And while there are miniature stunt….at least it isn't of a jumping General Lee. That's probably a good thing, because while this episode wasn't remarkable, it wasn't offensive. Boss Hogg gets caught by people doing to him what he's always done to others; he got robbed with no insurance to protect him. And, he recognized that the Dukes were innocent in the predicament…but he still used them to solve his problem, because he knew Rosco was too dumb to solve it himself. The bad guy lead girl actress is the former wife of Beach Boy and Two Lane Blacktop Star Dennis Wilwon…..which did not help her acting skills. A helicopter is involved, there's a little bit of miniature stuff, but again…..no GL jumps, and that means no miniature GL jumps. This is like when your kids comes home from school with a report card full of C's and a note from the teacher that said he didn't get in a fight today. He just sat there. Dukes Review: Before I say the following about this season 7 episode, there are two miniature jumps in this episode and that makes me sad. And then there is a real jump that's redeeming, but it's recycled. And the General Lee is barely in this episode, which is bad. But with all that said, this episode is awesome. It's not Season 2-3 magic, it's no Carnival of Thills, it's not the one where Bo got amnesia and thought he was Boss Hogg's son, it's certainly not Happy Birthday General Lee…..but this is a really great episode. Summary: Bo and Luke get caught by some corrupt southern law, and that corrupt southern law does what it does best…..show off. They get sentenced to a road gang, in fact, and while it's certainly fully intended to be a Cool Hand Luke ripoff, it works! They escape, wrongs are righted; the end. From a production standpoint this episode is really terrific. It gives us outstanding REAL FOOTAGE SCENES of John and Tom driving…..and the General saves the day with Catherine Bach behind the wheel. The acting in this episode is so believable, so real, you will almost forget you're watching the Dukes of Hazzard.
