Scares are one thing....but when there's an idea behind them it makes it all that much more potent and believable. On this episode we are getting into the Halloween swing of things with a new movie that is hitting Cineplex theatres this coming Friday. It's time to 'Prey For The Devil'.Sister Ann (Jacqueline Byers) believes she is answering a calling to be the first female exorcist… but who, or what, called her? In response to a global rise in demonic possessions, Ann seeks out a place at an exorcism school reopened by the Catholic Church. Until now these schools have only trained priests in the Rite of Exorcism – but a professor (Colin Salmon) recognizes Sister Ann's gifts and agrees to train her. Thrust onto the spiritual frontline with fellow student Father Dante (Christian Navarro), Sister Ann finds herself in a battle for the soul of a young girl, who Sister Ann believes is possessed by the same demon that tormented her own mother years ago. Determined to root out the evil, Ann soon realizes the Devil has her right where he wants her. It's a fresh take on the subgenre of the exorcism movie and it takes a compassionate and logical angle on the issue as well, but don't worry there's still plenty of creepy moments to have you on the edge of your seat.We had the unique pleasure of sitting down with director Daniel Stamm and (Toronto's own) Jacqueline Byers to talk about the origins of the story, the importance of the idea behind it all and so very much more....
Thanks to Lionsgate and EPK.TV, we hear from stars Jacqueline Byers,Colin Salmon,Christian Navarro,Virginia Madsen and their director Daniel Stamm.

¡Gracias y feed the cvlt!
The Last Exorcism's Daniel Stamm Whenever I list my favorite horror movies of the last 10 years, The Last Exorcism is always front and center. When it came out, the idea of a faux-documentary wasn't new. Stamm himself had already made a fake documentary for his first film, A Necessary Death. Of course, there are also the obvious landmark fake documentaries like Cannibal Holocaust, Man Bites Dog, The Blair Witch Project, Spinal Tap, and Paranormal Activity. But The Last Exorcism offered something unique. From the first second, the film engages the viewer with entertaining characters and an intriguing premise. I was extremely excited when Daniel agreed to come on the show and talk about his technique of improv with actors as well as his newest film 13 Sins. Coming off the success of 2010's Lionsgate thriller The Last Exorcism, director Daniel Stamm brought his script for 13 Sins, a remake of a Thai film, to the producers at Blumhouse. The 4 million dollar film had the bad fortune, however, to be released by the Weinstein Bros. controlled Radius-TWC, which dumped the film in limited release and only made about $10,000 at the box office. It stars Mark Webber, Rutina Wesley, Devon Graye, and Ron Perlman. Dan and Vicky discuss the film as well some of their recently seen which include: Big Mouth, The Haunting of Hill House, A Star is Born 2018, Rampage, Bad Times at the El Royale, Halloween 2018, Terrifier and PuppetMaster: The Littlest Reich. Dan brings us up-to-date on his new off-broadway show Wild Goose Dreams and the cast album he's recording and Vicky talks about her Florida trip for some R&R with Mom and Dad. Confess! Bet you can't wait to listen to Hot Date 77: 13 Sins. Leave us some feedback.

Timothy: This episode of FEAR THE WALKING DEAD was directed by Daniel Stamm. He directed THE LAST EXORCISM. Dustin: Didn't we all go see that in the theater? We liked it, as I recall. Timothy: We did. One of the few found footage horror films I've ever liked, actually. Dustin: As opposed to PARANORMAL ACTIVITY. Which we laughed through. We got some nasty looks from the other audience members. Timothy: Well, it was awful. Curtis: Made a ton of money though. Timothy: That it did. Hey folks! It's your usual motley crew of miscreants what recorded a podcast about the dead that fear the walking, here again to ramble on for almost the same amount of time it takes to actually watch an episode of this very show we review. Mindy: There was that 30 minute idea that was almost a recurring thing. Almost. Curtis: There are four of us now. And based on how much Tim cut out of the podcast, we digress like... crazy digressing people. Mindy: About 15 minutes? Timothy: Yeah. Mostly things that Man Was Not Meant to Know. Mindy: So most of the sex stuff. Dustin: It was so wrong this week, people. SO VERY WRONG. Curtis: Funny as hell, though. Timothy: Oh yeah. But not fit for man or beast. We were quite inappropriate. Mindy: There is a sexual undercurrent in the show though. Dustin: Oh, this episode was all about the sex. Even when it wasn't about the sex, it was about the sex. And that's not entirely a good thing. Curtis: Yeah, I really didn't think too much of this one. It wasn't bad, but it was a letdown after the last few. But hey, you guys listen to us talk about it, and then tell us what you think, OK? OK.

This week on the show, 13 Sins director Daniel Stamm explains why the title I chose for this article is a bad one, discusses The Hero's Journey as addiction and describes how he's using his knowledge of movie marketing (and misleading trailers) to subvert the system. They should really let German directors make more rom-coms. Plus, Geoff and I will break down movie scenes that make us break down in order to figure out how they make us cry. Fair warning: the first ten minutes of Up will be discussed. Come prepared. You should follow Daniel Stamm (

German filmmaker Daniel Stamm will discuss his experience as a director and screenwriter. Daniel’s first feature film, A Necessary Death, explored suicide in a unique way and won the Audience Award and Best Feature Award at the AFI Film Fest in 2008. The Last Exorcism, his second feature, was nominated for the People's Choice Award, two Independent Spirit Awards and an MTV Movie Award in 2010. Daniel is definitely a rising star among today’s new filmmakers! His upcoming projects include: 13, the remake of a Thai horror film; The Darkness, written by Megan Holley of Sunshine Cleaning; and Reincarnate, the second installment of The Night Chronicles, a trilogy of films produced by M. Night Shyamalan.
The Last Exorcism(2010) PG-13 Ready to expose his miraculous deeds as mere trickery, Rev. Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian) invites a documentary crew to film his final exorcism.
