Today's Guest on Harshaneeyam is Ruth Martin.Ruth Martin studied English literature before gaining a PhD in GermanShe has been translating fiction and non-fiction books since 2010, by authors ranging from Joseph Roth and Hannah Arendt to Volker Weidermann and Shida Bazyar.She has taught translation at the University of Kent and the Bristol Translates summer school, and is a former co-chair of the Society of Authors Translators Association.She translated Shida Bazyar's The Nights Are Quiet in Tehran from German to English – the novel was longlisted for the International Booker Prize 2026.Set across four decades, from 1979 to 2009, this is a polyphonic novel of one family's flight from and return to Iran.1979. Behsad, a young communist revolutionary, fights with his friends for a new order after the Shah's expulsion. He tells of sparking hope, of clandestine political actions, and of how he finds the love of his life in the courageous, intelligent Nahid.1989. Nahid lives her new life in West Germany with Behsad. With their young children, they spend hour after hour in front of the radio, hoping for news from others who went into hiding after the mullahs came to power.1999. Se ha recibido una notificación de la dirección del programa en la que se le reprocha al Criticón de La Cultureta Gran Reserva una falta grave de profesionalidad. En el memorando fechado a día 15 de julio en Madrid, se menciona literalmente la expresión “lamentamos comunicarle que se le ha pirado un poco el pancho en las últimas semanas”, lo que -según la compañía- ha supuesto una clara desatención de sus labores como crítico oficial del programa. E igual es verdad. Permítannos que por una vez nos pongamos serios. Se ha recibido una notificación de la dirección del programa en la que se le reprocha al Criticón de La Cultureta Gran Reserva una falta grave de profesionalidad. En el memorando fechado a día 15 de julio en Madrid, se menciona literalmente la expresión “lamentamos comunicarle que se le ha pirado un poco el pancho en las últimas semanas”, lo que -según la compañía- ha supuesto una clara desatención de sus labores como crítico oficial del programa. Centrale nel carteggio è il rifiuto opposto al mondo da Luce adolescente, uno sciopero della fame seguito da una distruttiva foga bulimica. Che parlino dell'arto fantasma, di psicologi felloni o di un istituto per disabili i cui ospiti siedono davanti a un televisore muto, che rievochino la deportazione della famiglia Susman a Theresienstadt o raccontino di una bambina palestinese, queste lettere sono intrise di dolcezza. Attraverso la parola un sentimento disincarnato lega i due corrispondenti. Romanzo del Novecento e di due vite, Luce ci lascia con un dubbio: nella ricerca di una corrispondenza con il proprio lato femminile, Nino sta forse scrivendo a se stesso?Roberto Cazzola. Nato a Torino nel 1953, ha lavorato per Einaudi dal 1974 al 1995 e per Adelphi dal 1995 al 2018. Presso entrambi gli editori è stato responsabile della letteratura tedesca. Dal 1983 al 1985 ha insegnato presso l'Università di Vienna. Collabora con il seminario Giustizia e Letteratura dell'Università Cattolica di Milano e con l'Associazione per la ricerca in psicologia analitica (Arpa). All'Università di Tubinga ha partecipato al seminario Wertewelten e ad Ascona ai convegni della Fondazione Eranos. En #HoyEsRisco del martes 21 de enero, el doctor Víctor Alejandro Espinoza Valle, Presidente de El Colegio de la Frontera Norte comentó que cerca de cinco millones de mexicanos están en riesgo de ser deportados de Estados Unidos ante la llegada de Donald Trump a la presidencia. Con José Luis Pérez Canchola, primer procurador de derechos humanos en Baja California y activista en la defensa de la población migrante habló sobre su despido de la Dirección Municipal de Atención al Migrante de Tijuana, por exigir una mayor coordinación de las autoridades a los tres niveles de gobierno: federación, estado y municipio, para atender las deportaciones masivas desde Estados por la ola de problemas de salud, seguridad y extorsión a las que se enfrentan los migrantes, una situación crítica y de alto riesgo. Unidos.En el Meollo del Asunto con Olivia Zerón, se habló de las implicaciones que tiene la decisión de Trump de solo reconocer dos géneros en Estados Unidos: hombre y mujer, para lo cual firmó una orden ejecutiva llamada "Defender a las mujeres del extremismo de la ideología de género y restaurar la verdad biológica en el gobierno federal", que instruye que documentos oficiales deben reconocer estos dos géneros. Esta orden afecta a las personas trans y personas no binarias. Finalmente, con Juan Pablo Villalobos en la sección “No voy a pedir a nadie que lea” comentó sobre la importancia de la relectura de libros, y citó a Joseph Roth y su libro “La marcha Radetzky”, una lectura muy masculina en un mundo de machismos como Trump y Elon Musk.
