The Sacramentarians have asserted that the divine and human natures in Christ are united personally in such a way that neither has real communion. This means (in deed and truth) that they do not share with the other nature what is unique to either nature. They share nothing more than the name alone. For they plainly say, "The personal union does nothing more than make the names common." In other words, God is called man, and man is called God. Yet this happens in such a way that the divine has no real communion (that is, in deed and truth) with humanity. And humanity has nothing in common with divinity, its majesty and properties. Dr. Luther and those who agreed with him have contended against the Sacramentarians for the contrary teaching. (Ep VIII 3) https://wrestlingwiththeology.org/media/podcast/cc_231023.mp3

Prolific composer and musician, Isobel Waller-Bridge, releases her brand new EP ‘VIII' – a bold, gripping body of work for string ensemble. The eight tracks, conceived as compact miniatures, feature beautiful, lush soundscapes as well as tense, unsettling moments. Recorded at Air Studios in London, and performed by the pioneering, un-conducted string orchestra, 12 Ensemble, this poignant collection of pieces sees Isobel using innovative string techniques throughout.Tracklist:1. For my 264th show I had to go it alone, due to a few bouts of sickness with live guests, not to mention having my very own cold! This show features 1h 53m of songs, no less, covering all kinds of tracks that I felt were covered (uncovered?) jolly well :)It's not easy to cover a well known song and take it to another level, but I believe this collection of 27 songs do the job rather splendidly and I hope they'll charm you in the same way they did I, upon hearing them.Happy listening folks

In which Dr. Cameron Thompson & I discuss spiders (not flies), mirk, white deer and being caught in a net (and how, with a little luck, to perhaps be disengannoed therefrom). There are some funny outtakes at the end and perhaps some wisdom as well. "Flies & Spiders" chapter 8 in the Hobbit The escape from the webs of the spiders is reminiscent of the escape from sin and slavery that we all long for. Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. - Psalm 91:3 Perhaps that white deer is sent partly as a sign of the glory in the midst of the darkness (like the candle returning to the church at the Easter Vigil); perhaps it is sent to increase the desire for freedom, light, and cleanness - a hunger transcending the hunger of the belly that drives them off the path. Shooting at the gift, then, is like the Mariner in Coleridge's poem shooting at the albatross, isn't it? The result is a tremendous weight around the neck of the Mariner, like the penitential weight Robert DeNiro's character bears in "The Mission", or like Bombur sleeping through the rest of the journey. Surviving that weight, enduring the dark mirk of the soul, seems to create in Bilbo a resilient defiance that transforms him and grants him the strength not only to fight the arachnoid demons of darkness but to lead the dwarves through Mirkwood and beyond.

This episode was adapted for the podcast from an assignment my teacher and mentor Olatokunboh Obasi gave us to interview a spiritual elder. Olatokunboh is an herbalist and the founder of Well of Indigenous Wisdom among many other titles and lives walked and hats worn. In this episode, we discuss: the art and poetry of story telling as an Indigenous way of communicating and resonating on deeper levels the Indigenous wisdom of respecting the cycles of life and the relationship between ourselves and the world living in the duality of the westernized world and the natural world, learning how to walk between both honoring elders and Indigenous wisdoms through naming & educating those who wish to know a beautiful Yoruba parable and the Sankofa generation important regimens as a healer that come with time and wisdom I really do hope you give it a listen as it's one of the most meaningful podcast episodes for me to date. Everybody I know travels with a lot of luggage! Most people actually travel with more stuff that will be needed! But now I am proud to say I know somebody who travels with 5 kilos only. Anywhere! No matter a long or a short trip. Her name is Katherine and she shares some really interesting tips on the subject. Also, how she started travelling with only hand luggage, why she keeps doing it and what she learned from it! ===== Katherine is a 5 Kilo Traveller from New Zealand. She loves to travel, and her passion is teaching people to travel with less luggage (not necessarily 5 kilos or 11 pounds - just less), so people stop struggling with heavy bags. " I initially travelled with a small bag as I was a solo female traveller and needed to feel safe and confident. Travelling with a small carry-on bag gave me this confidence and security. It also gave me the convenience of sightseeing and not having to lock my bag up somewhere or check-in early. My bag was able to be with me at all times, so I didn't have to wait for it getting off planes or trains. I could get around very easily on local transport – in China, I got a ride on a scooter to my accommodation - try that with a suitcase!" "Travelling light makes travel easy and liberating. I have fewer decisions to make. I don't lose things. Packing and unpacking is easy." ===== Find Katherine here: - website www.the5kilotraveller.com - Instagram @the5kilotraveller - Facebook The 5 Kilo Traveller ╼ ╍ ╾ Let's connect: http://www.curiouspavel.com/links

With all the talk of cancel culture, we turn to an issue at the heart of our cultural crisis: the human penchant to blame and scapegoat as a means of feeling righteous. In this episode, we explore René Girard's mimetic theory and “the scapegoating mechanism”—the human tendency to scapegoat others in order to relieve our own anxiety and demonstrate our own virtue. By understanding this mechanism, we can transcend it, and we can focus on becoming truly virtuous rather simply calling out the hypocrisy of others.
