Sir Stevo Timothy, an Irish comedian who killed his friend after making 'the worst decision' to get on his motorbike while drunk has revealed the stark three choices he gave himself as he recovered in hospital. Stevo, also known as Farmer Michael, killed his friend John Laffey in 2005 after the pair had been drinking until the early hours in the Mervue area of Galway and he agreed to drive them home. Stevo, who had battled alcoholism since his teens, lost control of the bike, on which John was riding pillion, and woke up hours later in hospital, having lost feeling from his chest down. His father later told him that his friend had died in the crash. He now speaks about what happened to encourage others not to drink and drive, saying: 'When you're sitting up in the National Rehab hospital and you're paralysed from the chest down and you're naked and a man is showering you or voiding your bowels - that'll really help you reevaluate the decisions you've made in your life." The actor and comedian, who has more than a million followers on social media, broke his neck and back and was left with serious spinal injuries in the accident. He now uses a wheelchair. Stevo also talks about the positives and negatives of having a large following on social media. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Irish comic Stevo Timothy's character of Farmer Michael has become a global internet phenomenon, reaching audiences around the world with his clumsy (and often offensive) takes on everything from feminism to football, and he's brining his live show to America for St. Patrick's Day. But comedy and tragedy are never too far apart, and Stevo's backstory is one of the most intriguing you will ever come across - he crashed his motorbike while drunk, killing a friend and sustaining injuries that left him in a wheelchair, and despite his bombastic characterisation of Michael, anxiety is never too far away. On this week's Global Gael he talks about the practicalities of touring in a wheelchair, what the audiences can expect, and how he deals with a life that can be tremendous and terrifying in equal measure. https://twitter.com/SirStevoTimothy/status/1741501719102574819 Support this show on patreon.com/ourmaninstockholm

Hi all,As I bring the curtain down on season 3 of 1% Better, a season that included over 50 shows, and has been running for 11 months, I thought it would be a good idea to pull out some of clips from some of the stand out shows of the season. This wasn’t easy and in the end I practically picked them at random. I’ve decided to go for 10 clips over 2 short episodes. I hope you enjoy it. Below has a short summary of each guest/interview and a link to the full episode on the site. Thanks for support in season 3. Season 4 is already underway recording wise and deep in planning. Here are the five from today’s show1.Ma Anand Sheela episode 100Ma Anand Sheela. Sheela came to prominence recently from the Netflix documentary Wild Wild Country. That’s when I learned about her. However many of you listening might have first heard of her back in the early 1980s when she was the secretary of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, latterly known as Osho. The documentary blew my mind and I was struck by Sheela’s personality, devotion for Bhagwan, and then her own seemingly unending quest for power. When I watched the show, I thought how cool it would be to talk with her for the podcast. To learn more about her values, upbringing, what drove her motivations, and of course what life is like for her since the commune broke up and after her time in prison. When I managed to connect with her, tell her about the podcast, and invite her to be a guest, I was delighted when she agreed.Episode Link https://robofthegreen.ie/episodes/maanandsheela-freedomgoalsacceptinglife-ep100/2.Sir Steve Timothy episode 125Steve Timothy is a comedian, online sensation, soon to be Author, Rapper, Satirist, and other titles. She’s been a guest on Oprah, has a list of media credits that covers about every News show, magazine and paper that I’ve ever heard of, is a best-selling author (Allowing Magnificence and Older Women/Younger Men), she specializes in evolutionary forms of loving partnership and higher thinking, and is in high demand. She’s just had over 10 millions view on YouTube where she posts short informative videos on relationship challenges and how to improve in your loving partnerships.During the hour, we talk about everything on relationships from online dating, cultural challenges, and new terms like Bread Crumbing, Catfishing, and of course Ghosting! I’ve shared links to Susan site, and social platforms at the bottom of these notes.I really enjoyed this one as you’ll probably detect from it and I learned a lot. I chat with creator and internet sensation Stevo Timothy about his farmer Michael character and what comes next after talking to your phone in your car.
On Ground Cover today, Kerry is joined by Michael Taylor, a sixth generation wool producer from Kentucky, on the Northern Tablelands of NSW. Michael's family were one of the original settlers of the New England region. His parents, John and Vicky Taylor, discovered the real causes of the New England die back problem. The family tradition of experimentation and continuous learning is certainly instilled in Michael's approach to farming.Michael is our Agroforestry champion; diversifying his farm practices to create greater resilience for future generations. While also running a Merino sheep enterprise of the highest ethical standard. In this episode we hear about:the lessons the Taylors learned through experiencing major droughts over 3 generationsover clearing and over grazing and it's impact on die backhow Michael has diversified farm practices with timber and agroforestrythe importance of shelter in creating a functioning ecosystemthe impact of aesthetics on their propertyMore about Michael Taylor:Michael is the Managing Partner at Taylors Run mixed agricultural business, a family run Merino sheep and wool enterprise started in 1839. He has also taken on the further development of the agroforestry enterprise adding value for future generations. Both of these roles in the farm management include the responsibility of being a land custodian and steward in a competitive commercial environment. Continuous improvement of water use efficiency and regenerative farming practices provide a good education and demonstration site for other landholders. His involvement in the wool industry extends to two grower groups endeavouring to close the gap between producers and end users of Merino wool in apparel. Tablelands Merino is a regional group of only superfine Merino growers offering wool with guaranteed next-to-skin comfort. He is also a founding member and Director of Australian Ethical Merino Growers Co-operative.In his previous role as Director with Southern New England Landcare he contributed to an organisation that provides support to landholders in the region wishing to embark on better Natural Resource Management (NRM) projects. He is still involved as a peer mentor in the Agri-woodlands Group, helping landholders with their tree management projects.Michael studied Civil Engineering through RMIT, and worked with Hyder Consulting and Baulderstone-Hornibrook in Melbourne after completing his degree. Michael feels that Engineering has provided a strong base bringing another angle of professionalism into his current roles.Specialties include: civil engineering (roads and water), farm and small business management, wool and sheep classing, sheep breeding, cattle breeding, farm forestry management (siliviculture, harvesting and sawn timber processing), professional photography, medium scale graphic design and publishing.

Our latest episode of Across The Park Extra features the hilarious duo of Stevo and Sinead, more commonly known to their 170k YouTube followers as "Farmer Michael" and "Kathleen". Recorded ironically in the Shankley hotel, blues Judgy and Craig enjoy 40 minutes of honest, emotional and hilarious chat with the pair, who tell us how they both came to support Everton and how they shot to stardom as a couple, only weeks into their relationship. This episode is definitely a "break from the norm" but is equally as insightful..... Stevo opens up on the mental health issues that have plagued him, both before and after a serious accident he was involved in and the pair reveal their massive appreciation of all of their fans. Stevo and Sinead discuss the book they are releasing in October and how Stevo's song, "all in his head", temporarily beat Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper to number 1 in the Irish charts. There is naturally a few appearances from the the duo's characters during this podcast, which adds comedy to this highly interesting chat. This is a must listen for all their fans and certainly a great insight into how a regular couple can become internet superstars through sheer personality and humour, whilst also maintaining their values and roots. Enjoy and follow Sir Stevo Timothy on Social Media if you are thirsty for more from "Farmer Michael".....
