Two decades ago two young men disappeared in Naples under mysterious circumstances. Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos were both last seen with the same Collier County Sheriff's deputy, Steven Calkins. They were both men of color in their 20s. And they were both last seen in Deputy Calkins' patrol car. Deputy Calkins was fired after his story changed when questioned. He denied wrongdoing. He's the only person of interest in the cases, but law enforcement never found evidence against him.
Terrance Williams, a 27-year-old father of four, disappeared in Naples, Florida, on January 12, 2004, after his car broke down and he was last seen with Collier County Sheriff's Deputy Steven Calkins. Calkins claimed to have dropped Williams off at a Circle K, but no evidence supports this, and similar discrepancies arose when Calkins was connected to the disappearance of Felipe Santos, an undocumented immigrant, three months earlier under nearly identical circumstances. Both men were last seen alive in Calkins' custody, and despite failed polygraph tests and inconsistent statements, no criminal charges have been filed against him. Terrance's mother, Marcia Williams, has fought tirelessly to keep the case in the public eye, but nearly two decades later, both cases remain unsolved. Despite ongoing investigations and renewed interest, neither man has been found, leaving their families seeking justice and closure.Kyron Horman, a seven-year-old boy from Portland, Oregon, disappeared on June 4, 2010, after being dropped off at Skyline Elementary School by his stepmother, Terri Horman, for a science fair. Despite an extensive search—the largest in Oregon's history—no trace of Kyron was ever found. Suspicion quickly fell on Terri after inconsistencies in her story and reports of a previous murder-for-hire plot against Kyron's father surfaced. Though Terri has consistently denied involvement, many still believe she holds the key to the mystery. The case remains unsolved, with law enforcement continuing to treat it as active. Kyron's disappearance remains one of the most baffling and heartbreaking missing-person cases in the U.S., leaving his family and the public searching for answers over a decade later.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.com

Keys on the ground, a jacket, and a recording device. After Felipe Santos and Terrance Williams vanished in Naples, Florida, investigators turned their attention to the last person both men were known to have contact with and that was Collier County Deputy Steve Calkins. When Calkins sat down to talk, his stories about his interactions with the missing men left more questions than answers. As the years passed, other officers came forward and spoke about their experiences with Corporal Calkins. Felipe Santos and Terrance Williams remain missing. If you have any information about the disappearances of Felipe Santos or Terance Williams, please contact the Collier County Sheriff's Office at 239-252-9300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS. A white Cadillac, Circle K, and two internal investigations. In the fall of 2003, 23-year-old, Felipe Santos disappeared after a minor traffic accident in Naples, Florida. Three months later, 27-year-old Terrance Williams also vanished, leaving behind the white Cadillac he had just bought.
In this enlightening episode, I sit down with my friend and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coach, Professor Felipe Santos. A champion in many respects, Felipe is a kind, passionate family man and an all-round good sort. I've learned a lot from him over the years. Our conversation evolves naturally, flowing with the go, as Master Rickson Gracie would say. We cover a lot of ground, discussing topics such as: Resilience, perseverance, and grit Dealing with complexity, uncertainty, fear, and anxiety The importance of family and traditional values The power of community The significance of structure and discipline Respect for others, self, and higher powers This episode was suggested by Prashant Kumar, the mat enforcer at our gym. His wonderful idea led to a conversation that I believe will be the first of many more to come. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, we find, is a metaphor for life. Any difficult-to-master skill can be a rich resource of lessons that teach us so much about life and how to live meaningfully. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did! To find Professor Santos and the gang at Mount Maunganui Jiu-Jitsu, check out the details in the show notes. They offer a one-week free trial, which I highly recommend. Not only does BJJ give you a competitive edge in BBQ rumbles, but it also provides an advantage in many areas of life, including business, family, love, friendships, finances, and conflict resolution. https://www.mountjiujitsu.co.nz/ https://www.facebook.com/mountmaunganuijiujitsu https://www.instagram.com/mountmaunganuijiujitsu Don't forget to check us out on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. Today's episode is called Strange Things are afoot at the Circle K. Unlike a regular episode, Patreon allows us to venture out of the Pacific Northwest. And in this case, I will be taking us to Naples, Florida, where 20 years ago, within just a couple months of each other, two men in Naples, Florida disappeared. They didn't have a ton in common except for both being young, hard working fathers. Another thing they have in common? The last time either of them was seen alive, they were being placed in the back of the same police officer's vehicle. Today I'll be telling the stories of Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos, and the last man seen interacting with them, Cpl. Steven Calkins. This is one of the most baffling stories we have ever covered. Terrance Williams and Felipe Santos were two young men who vanished into thin air under eerily similar circumstances. In January of 2004, Terrance vanished after he was last seen getting into the backseat of Sheriff's Deputy Steven Calkins' car, who initially said he had no recollection of the event. Later, his memory would return and he said he'd only given Terrance a ride to work at a nearby Circle K. This story left so many questions unanswered: Terrance did not work at the Circle K, so why would he have told the deputy that? And where had he gone after the Circle K? This case would become even more baffling when it was connected to the disappearance of a man named Felipe Santos, who had gone missing a few months before Terrance after last being seen in Deputy Calkins' squad car.

In the fall of 2003, Felipe Santos, a 23-year-old undocumented migrant worker from Mexico went missing after a minor fender bender in Naples, Florida. Three months later, 27-year-old Terrance Williams disappeared from the same stretch of road. In January of 2004, 27-year-old Terrance Williams disappeared in the early morning hours. His mother soon found out that he was last seen getting into the back of a police cruiser in Naples, Florida. The deputy reported that he'd dropped Terrance off at a nearby gas station. It wasn't long before Terrance's mother found that her son wasn't the last young man seen in the police car belonging to the same deputy: Steven Calkins. Three months prior, 23-year-old Felipe Santos disappeared after getting into Calkins' service vehicle following a minor car accident. Calkins said that he'd also dropped Felipe off at a nearby gas station. There was no video footage and no witnesses to corroborate Calkins' story. Neither man has been seen since. Was this just a coincidence and was Calkins just the unluckiest man in the world? Or, more likely, was Calkins responsible for the disappearances, and likely murders, of Terrance and Felipe? But the Collier County suit came to an abrupt close in 2021 after Crump's team missed a deadline to file for trial. Marcia Williams appealed to a Florida appellate court. Williams was the second man to vanish after an encounter with Calkins. Felipe Santos, a Mexican immigrant and Immokalee resident, disappeared at age 23 in October 2003 after his brothers saw him get into Calkins' patrol car.-------"It's been said in the Black community many times, but there's always a new story popping up in our newsfeeds that proves it needs to be repeated: No amount of being an upstanding citizen will shield Black people from racism."-------Thirty years ago, the 15-year-old Black girl from South Central walked into Empire Liquor Market and Deli, grabbed a $1.79 bottle of orange juice and put it in her backpack. A Korean-born merchant, Soon Ja Du, accused her of stealing it. Latasha had $2 in her hand. Du grabbed Latasha's sweater. Then Latasha punched Du in the face and headed for the door. Du picked up a handgun and fired a shot into the back of Latasha's head. Police later confirmed that there was “no attempt at shoplifting.” A jury found Du guilty of voluntary manslaughter, but instead of serving a maximum of 16 years in prison, Judge Joyce A. Karlin gave Du probation. For killing a 15-year-old girl who was walking away from her.Support the show
