The Most Haunted Location in America? Gettysburg, Pa - Part 2: Jennie Wade and the Dobbin House. Is Gettysburg Pennsylvania, the Most Haunted Location in America? Join us for a discussion about Jennie Wade and The Jennie Wade House, Plus the Dobbin House Tavern. Are they Haunted or Not. Are they hauntings or not? Jennie Wade was reported to be the only civilian to be killed during the Battle of Gettysburg. Did the moving of her grave lead to her reported ghostly sightings? Plus, Plus the Dobbin House Tavern. Reverend Alexander Dobbin and his wife Isabella Gamble immigrated to America and settled in what is now Gettysburg. In 1774 they commenced construction of a farm and the Dobbin House, for use as their dwelling and as a Classical School, today's equivalent of a combined theological seminary and liberal arts college. The Dobbin house was reported to be a slave hideout and part of the "Underground Railroad". It was used for hiding runaway slaves on their perilous journey to freedom on the "Underground Railroad." After the battle it served as a hospital for wounded soldiers of both the North and the South. As a result it is said to be haunted with numerous reports of ghostly sightings. The Most Haunted Location in America? Gettysburg, Pa - Part 1: The Orphanage Is Gettysburg, Pa. the most haunted location in America. The Battle of Gettysburg, fought from July 1 to July 3, 1863, was a huge moment in the American Civil War. It involved the Union Army of the Potomac, commanded by General George G. Meade, and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, led by General Robert E. Lee. The battle resulted in a significant turning point for the Union, marking a major defeat for the Confederacy and setting the stage for their eventual surrender.  By the end of the Battle of Gettysburg, both sides had suffered staggering casualties. The Union had around 23,000 soldiers killed, wounded, or missing, while the Confederate losses totaled approximately 28,000. The three-day battle was a turning point in the war, as it halted General Lee's advance into Northern territory and boosted the Union's morale. Which has sparked many reports of ghosts and hauntings. We embark on a spine-tingling, and comedic journey into the reported paranormal phenomena that have plagued this hallowed ground. Super excited to announce new guest, Austin Greene, to The Story!Austin was born, raised, and currently resides in Gettysburg Pennsylvania; often feeling as though he was in the middle of no where, Austin imagined that he would eventually have to move to LA or New York to make his overly ambitious dreams a reality. But he's found himself increasingly satisfied as an entertainer in Pennsylvania. The idea that one has to live in one of the two most savagely competitive markets to make one's dreams come true isn't always the case. Since Austin was a child his dream was to play music on stage; his dream was to act in films, the good news that almost no one tells you is that you can do that almost anywhere today. If your dream is to have money and fame... that might not be in the cards however. But if money and fame are what you desire most about being in entertainment, than you might have more fun being a bartender instead. You can find Austin and his work here:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/4qCNd3VBWjCrkiVL9MU2SF...Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNcViVNb3gW94hQDMDqnp8ASupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-story/donations

In this episode I talk about a theory from paranormal theorists about how paranormal activity and ghost sightings might possibly be a time lapse. Historical places like Gettysburg Pennsylvania had traumatic events and sudden loss of life. What if that energy got in embedded into the grounds of these places, and with the help of the environment, like rivers and minerals the energy is able to play out like a movie and show people what occurred. You are more significant than you realized 2. Pastor Borrasso's presentation on the 2019 decision to close Concordia, Selma and other historically Black Lutheran institutions at the 2020 Lutheran Historical Conference could hardly be called disinterested history!  He examined the history of Black ministry in the LC-MS and identified a pattern and foundation that has very real implications for the present and very recent past.  He offered a critique of current leadership and actions.  Meanwhile, the purpose of TLHP is to examine Lutheran History, without diving headfirst into discussion of current events, issues, and controversy.  However, many would argue that the study of history should not be an end itself.  While we will focus today primarily on the history of Black educational institutions in the LC-MS, we will not ignore Pastor Borrasso's opinions on how that history impacts the present.  For today's episode, I asked my friend, Pastor Scott Henrich, who researched and wrote a thesis on Race and the Lutheran Pastor, to offer some feedback and suggestions for today's conversation. You can read Scott's thesis via the WLS essay file online.  Guest introduction: Our guest today, Pastor Matt Borrasso, was born and raised in the Chicago area where was baptized and received a Lutheran education in his childhood years.  He has received degrees from Concordia University, Chicago, Northern Seminary in Lombard, IL, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, United Lutheran Seminary, Gettysburg PA,  and has recently begun his PhD. work at the University of Birmingham in the UK.  Among his works is the book The Art of Exegesis: An Analysis of the Life and Work of Martin Hans Franzmann published by Wipf & Stock in Eugene, Oregon.  Pastor Borrasso is currently the pastor at Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Parkton, Maryland where he lives with his wife, Holly, and two children. For Reference:LCMS Convention Concordia College Alabama's Closure Session: “July 24 2019 - Afternoon Session Part 1” YouTube video, 2:59:57–3:01:31, posted by The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, July 29, 2019, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtWq-NUChZ4&list=PLDu0iVoFL_d4CTqtlAVoHUqHVsfbHhsnZ&index=15&t=9268sStories from Selma: https://www.storiesfromselma.comLutheran History ShopSupport the show
