Hey Now! what a great second set this week as we explore the rest of the band's performance on September 26, 1972 at teh Stanley Theater in Jersey City, New Jersey. Right out of the gate we get a wonderful psychedelic ride with a 20 minute 'Playin In The Band'. Phil is all over this. They follow up with the very last performance of 'You Win Again'. 'El Paso' follows but things get sharp again with Half Step and Greatest Story Ever Told (albeit with a Donna wail). 'Tomorrow Is Forever' is the 2nd of 10 played in 72. Truckin' follows and turns into a monster jam with the Other One jam coming in around the 21 minute mark. This leads to the last 'Baby Blue' until 1974. The encore following the 'Sugar Mag', features a short but unique '26 Miles' tuning before 'Johnny B Goode' sends everyone home.. Hey Now! Summer is here and the time is right... :) Anyway I think this is a fun show for this Memorial Day weekend - not a great show, but a fun show.. this is from May 27, 1989 - 'In Concert Against AIDS'. The band appeared with several other groups (most notably perhaps John Fogerty who Bobby and Jerry shared the stage with), and this set features Clarence Clemons of the E Street Band on much of the songs. The first set features some uptempo numbers including an opening 'Touch of Gray' and an excellent 'Iko, Iko' Brent and Phil are front and center here as well, and while Clarence isn't everyone's cup of tea here, I personally enjoy his contributions not only on Iko, but on Bird Song and Promised Land especially.. Grateful Dead Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Stadium Oakland, CA 5/27/89 - Saturday One Touch Of Grey ; Greatest Story Ever Told ; Althea ; Walkin' Blues ; Iko Iko (1) ; Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again (1) ; Bird Song (1) ; The Promised Land (1) In Concert Against Aids. (1) with Clarence Clemons on saxophone. You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod052821.mp3 I hope you have a most excellent Memorial Day weekend !!

Hey now! Once again this week starts with some talk about television, and Matt has thoughts about Disney+ and spoilers. Don’t worry, there are no spoilers in the spoilers section. Then, Tyler talks about how he felt after his second dose of the vaccine. It was a bad day, but not as bad as a week with COVID. Next up, your hosts discuss automation. Matt is just starting to get into it, and Tyler has a few recommendations. They each share some of their favorite automations, and complain about places where you can’t paste. There was an Apple Event this week, and Tyler is annoyed about the colors of the new iMac. Matt couldn’t care less. The main topic this week is free time. It's a four hour extended addition of The Nightfly this week. Oh god -- could you imagine. Well, that's pretty much what the four hour Justice League movie is - except of course for Gal Gadot who is the only reason for watching. And, I guess Aquaman if we're being honest. Rrrow. But seriously folks, on today's show: Do Women gamble on Sports? And if so, are there couples that bet together? An interesting posed question; Mountain Dew -- have you met anyone that drinks it? The investigation into the Woman's NCAA Basketball poor accommodations compared to the Mens. I hope we're not spending money on it. What's the investigation? Yeah, they have worse accommodations and everyone knows it. Grow up everyone -- and that's me saying that. HEY NOW!!! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Good evening all. This week I opened for Gilbert in a virtual show. I ended up getting a very serious call during Gilbert's performance which I had on in the background. I tried to turn it down but, you know, it's Gilbert, it's useless and absolutely hilarious. Plus, when he starts talking about Catherine Zeta Jones private parts in the background when you're talking about funeral arrangements at the same time -- well -- that is just epic. Also, Coming 2 America is great; how did Al Pacino's Yell Acting start and, oh right -- I'm vaccinated. HEY NOW. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Hey Now! It was such a cold and snowy day I almost didn't get this one ready but never fear.. we have a great set this week featuring some wonderful Pigpen and early, high-energy Grateful Dead. As promised we have the remainder of the show from January 24, 1971 at the Seattle Center in Seattle Washington. It starts with Bobby saying they were 'running short on time' and then they proceed to play another 35 minutes or so of high voltage jammin' Dead music. Pig is in prime form on Lovelight which goes into Not Fade Away, then into Goin' Down the Road before returning into Lovelight.. Following a frantic drums, the band closes with another high-energy, Good Lovin'. Grateful Dead Seattle Center Arena Seattle, WA 1/24/71 - Sunday Two Turn On Your Love Light > Not Fade Away > Goin' Down The Road Feeling Bad > Turn On Your Love Light > Drums > Good Lovin' You can listen to this week's Deadpod here: http://traffic.libsyn.com/deadshow/deadpod020521.mp3 Take care of yourselves and each other! thank you for your kind support ;)
