Sacred Window Podcast: Nurturing Awareness in Postpartum Care
In this episode of the podcast, host Christine welcomes Heather Todd Franklin and Dru Erin Houchen, two inspiring women who have blended their passions for postpartum care and conscious business practices. Heather, the owner of Gulfport Yoga and founder of Prana Mama, emphasizes the crucial role of authenticity in her work. She shares how she has navigated the challenges of finding the right branding and identity for her business, ultimately realizing that aligning her offerings with her true self is the key to connecting with her clients on a deeper, emotional level. Dru, the founder of Golden Hour Motherhood, offers a unique perspective, drawing from her own experience with postpartum depression and anxiety. She underscores the significance of ensuring that a business's brand elements, from color palettes to copywriting, resonate with the emotional needs of the target audience, especially during vulnerable times like the postpartum period. Both Heather and Dru highlight the value of collaboration, not only in supporting their clients but also in helping each other refine their own brands and business models. Balancing the demands of business and motherhood is a common challenge faced by Heather and Dru. They advocate for flexibility, self-care, and the establishment of clear boundaries to maintain a healthy work-life integration. By sharing their personal strategies, such as dedicated workspaces and the use of separate devices for work and personal life, they inspire other caregivers and entrepreneurs to prioritize their well-being while pursuing their professional passions. Rishi Sunak can breathe a (small) sigh of relief. Ben Houchen, the so-called ‘patron saint of the red wall', has won a third term as Tees Valley mayor. Houchen secured 53.6 per cent of the vote with Labour in second place with 41.3 per cent, despite some polls in advance suggesting it was neck-and-neck between the Tories and Labour. The Conservatives have undeniably had one of their worst nights for a generation, but are there some silver linings? James Heale speaks to Katy Balls and Fraser Nelson. Produced by Natasha Feroze and Oscar Edmondson.
Tomorrow, voters go to the polls for the last set of local elections in this parliament, alongside 11 mayoral elections in England, 37 police and crime commissioner elections in England and Wales plus the London Assembly elections. Could Ben Houchen, Tees Valley Mayor, help turn Rishi Sunak's fortunes around? You can read James Heale's assessment of the key battlegrounds here. Also on the podcast, a look at rumours that Labour are in talks to water down their employment policies. Lucy Dunn speaks to James Heale and John McTernan, former adviser to Tony Blair.

Our new series kicks off with Keith Houchen, a player whose career is never forgotten thanks to his famous diving header for Coventry City in their FA Cup win in 1987. It was his penalty in the FA Cup win over Arsenal that means his time at Bootham Crescent is also similarly cherished. Keith's career wasn't all plain sailing from being released as a young player at Crystal Palace, relegation with Orient, a move to Scunthorpe that wasn't working out but ultimately is a story of how hard work and self belief enabled Keith to play in the top flight of both English and Scottish football. Episode 5 of our Building Talks Net Zero podcast series features an interview with Ben Houchen, Tees Valley mayor, on his ambitions to make the region a hub for the government's so-called “green industrial revolution”. Houchen is a strong advocate for hydrogen production and carbon capture and storage technology, and in this episode he criticises recent Whitehall policy that delayed any decision on whether to develop hydrogen as a fuel source until 2026. We hear why he is so critical of the strategic decision to back heat pumps and why he calls for a “technology agnostic” approach to net zero research and development. We also hear from Maria Smith, who is director of sustainability and physics at Buro Happold and has been involved in the Built Environment Declares recent survey of the sectors attitudes to radical net zero policies. Simon Wyatt, partner at Cundall, provides our regular jargon buster session, this time explaining the term carbon sequestration, the process of capturing and storing carbon dioxide which is most commonly associated with trees growing and then turning those trees into timber. But how do we get the maximum benefit and how should carbon accounting work? To get in touch with the show go to: Twitter: @BuildingNews, Email: newsdesk@building.co.uk. We'd love to know how you are working towards net zero on your project. For more news and analysis go to www.building.co.uk. Hosted by Building's editor Chloe McCulloch with Elizabeth Hopkirk, assistant editor at Building Design. Audio production by Tariq Aziz.

Freddie Sayers meets Teesside's newly re-elected Conservative mayor, Ben Houchen. There's a stereotype of England's North-Eastern cities as left-behind, backward-facing, clinging to a long-gone industrial past. Some Labour politicians have even tried to play up to this image too, but it could not, says Teeside's newly re-elected mayor Ben Houchen, be further from the truth. According to Houchen, who won 73% of the Teeside vote in last week's by-election, voters in Hartlepool and Teesside aren't nostalgic, they are looking to the future. He plans to turn Teesside into the Silicon Valley of the UK.#RedWall #BorisJohnson #Conservatives See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Today's guest on The Amarillo Project is Mr. Rob Houchen! Calling me all the way from his stylish flat in London, Rob and I chat all things inspiration and ALCOHOL. JK. Though we do have a lot of laughs and I have a lot of martinis, I've found with Rob the best conversations are made with jokes and drinks. Rob's career both in Theatre and his Songwriting, is sure to impress. But when the doors are closed and the mind is free to wander and explore all the crevasses of doubt, we are then faced with questions about our purpose and identity. How do I stay inspired? Does my work reflect who I truly am? And the question we need to ask ourselves constantly...Does this make me happy? Rob is hardworking, inspiring and authentic. And I'm lucky enough to know him as a humble, heartfelt goofball who opens up in this episode and shares with you, our beautiful audience, who the master is behind the mind. We hope you enjoy this deliciously tipsy conversation!

A Conversation with Diedre Faith Houchen about Black Education and Liberation In this week’s episode, we delve deeper into the black social world by examining a liberatory tradition in education. Historically, achieving education and economic stability were priorities for African Americans after the Civil War. The effort to achieve access to education is one defining aspect of the collective activism we see in black communities since Reconstruction. Those struggles continue, but to learn more about the legacy of education activism I spoke with Diedre Houchen, a postdoctoral associate for the Center for the Study of Race and Race Relations in the Levin School of Law ( https://www.law.ufl.edu/areas-of-study/centers/csrrr) at the University of Florida at Gainesville. Houchen's work exploring black teacher activism in the early 20th century sheds light on the hidden network of black educators that shaped the civil right narrative in Florida. Last week's extended audio suicide note was so enjoyable that we thought we'd do it again. Neil is back in hizouse talking Rochdale but he can't lift the gloom as he bemoans the inexorable decline of the last few months. With Laurie presumably having thrown himself off a cliff, under a bus and into a bath tub (while holding a plugged in toaster) we drafted in friend of the pod and the only non original Nii to have appeared in all four seasons of the pod (probably) CJ Joiner to talk about the Shrewsbury game. Off the field James Maddison's tweet is given the short amount of air time such a non entity of a story deserves and the Niis talk about the reasons for our current malaise, what (if anything can be done) and fan reactions. None of it makes for happy listening Finally there's one more week to enter the Art of Football t shirt competition. To enter, send an email to niilampteyshow@gmail.com detailing your saddest tale of Coventry supporting woe. The best will be read out next week and the bestest will win the T Shirt.
