In a thought-provoking conversation, Christine Eck, the director of the Center for Sacred Window Studies, sat down with Gal Gallucci, a seasoned sexological body worker and postpartum caregiver. Their discussion centered on the critical importance of integrating sexological body work into postpartum care. Gal emphasized the holistic approach of this modality, which encompasses not only reproductive health and pelvic floor therapy, but also the vital realm of arousal and sexual well-being. Gal explained that sexological body work goes beyond traditional pelvic floor therapy by addressing the entire network of tissues and nerves in the body. This comprehensive approach allows for the enhancement of sexual health alongside reproductive health, providing a more complete path to healing and wholeness. One particularly powerful tool highlighted was the practice of vulva mapping, which empowers individuals to understand and address their unique experiences of pleasure potential, numbness, and pain within their intimate areas. The conversation underscored the pressing need for better postpartum sexual health education and care. Too often, the sexual and intimate aspects of the postpartum journey are overlooked or minimized, leaving many individuals feeling isolated and unsupported in their journey to reclaim their embodied sense of sexuality. By bringing sexological body work into the forefront of postpartum care, Gal and Christine aim to shed light on this vital aspect of the human experience, empowering individuals to navigate the complexities of intimacy with greater awareness, compassion, and self-acceptance. In this episode, Christine discusses the importance of flexible postpartum planning on the Sacred Window Podcast. She emphasizes the need to adapt plans to accommodate unexpected challenges, rather than rigidly adhering to a set schedule. Christine highlights the significance of food, rest, and community support in postpartum care. She shares personal experiences, such as preparing easy recipes for family members to help with meals. Christine also stresses the importance of mental and emotional well-being, advocating for rest and prioritizing joy. She concludes by encouraging listeners to create a nourishing, flexible postpartum plan that includes a support network. Christine acknowledges that while the postpartum period can be challenging, it is also a time of profound transformation and growth. She encourages listeners to approach this transition with a spirit of curiosity and self-discovery, rather than fear or anxiety. By being open to the unexpected, Christine believes women can tap into their innate resilience and find new depths of strength and wisdom. She reminds her audience that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to postpartum care, and that the key is to listen to their own bodies and intuition to determine what they need most. Furthermore, Christine emphasizes the importance of community support in the postpartum period. She stresses that no one person, whether a partner, family member, or professional caregiver, can shoulder the entire burden of postpartum care. Christine encourages listeners to build a "care circle" of trusted individuals who can provide practical, emotional, and spiritual support in a variety of ways. By cultivating this network of care, Christine believes women can feel truly held and nourished, allowing them to focus on their own healing and bonding with their new baby. Know more about Christine Christine is the Center's Founder, Director and one of its Instructors since its inception in 2018. In this episode, Christine Devlin Eck and Nicole Bulow discuss the importance of pelvic floor health and its impact on overall well-being. Nicole, founder of SolFuel, a pelvic health physical therapy clinic, shares her journey from sports medicine to pelvic health, influenced by her own postpartum experiences. She emphasizes the interconnectedness of the body and the need for holistic approaches to healing. Nicole highlights common postpartum issues like urinary incontinence, pelvic pain, and the importance of early intervention. She advocates for integrating pelvic health into prenatal care and stresses the need for cultural and systemic changes to support postpartum individuals effectively. Nicole's approach to pelvic health emphasizes the importance of listening to the body and allowing it to guide the healing process. She explains that by addressing the root causes of pelvic floor dysfunction, such as organ positioning or nervous system imbalances, lasting changes can be achieved. This holistic perspective contrasts with the traditional focus on isolated muscle strengthening, which Nicole believes often falls short in providing long-term solutions. Furthermore, Nicole underscores the need for a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to pelvic health. She envisions a future where pelvic floor therapists, midwives, doulas, and other healthcare providers work together to support individuals throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. This integrated model would ensure that each person's unique needs are addressed, empowering them to reclaim their pelvic and overall bodily health. By fostering this level of support, Nicole believes we can transform the cultural narrative around postpartum care and empower individuals to prioritize their well-being during this pivotal life transition. Know more about Nicole Bulow Nicole Bulow is the founder of SolFuel, a pelvic health physical therapy clinic. Nicole's background is in sports medicine, and she transitioned into pelvic health as she travelled her own journey of motherhood. Based in Seattle, Nicole has created her own integrated hands-on approach that treats the body as the interconnected system that it is. Today, Nicole and I will be talking about pelvic health as full body health. We'll be exploring how your pelvic floor influences your quality of life, how you feel about your body and the things you are able to do. We'll also discuss how our BODY influences the pelvic floor. Our culture and specifically our systems of postpartum healing do not emphasize pelvic floor healing after birth, and thus it has become a normal thing to experience weakness and imbalance in the pelvic floor. We'll speak about this too. Much in alignment with the Ayurvedic approach to healing, Nicole's approach embraces the mind, body, soul and emotions in how we heal and seek vitality. Sarah discovered her passion for Ayurveda through a lecture by Dr. George AC, leading her to pursue further study with Dr. Of Asante lad in Albuquerque. Sarah emphasizes the importance of Ayurveda in supporting women's balance and self-compassion. She discusses how Ayurveda can complement Western medicine and other systems of healing. Sarah also offers a year-long mentorship program where she invites women who are already committed to their health and self-care to deepen their relationship with themselves, their communities and planet, as we follow the rhythms of Ayurveda. https://us02web.zoom.us/rec/share/RHvYrNYmgrz8mq8ami-uYa1PIsiM0S0QnOpxZ5dq4qyDSeni1OOZTTyLTiFWzx3_.bhOmBNm9OjwpyoK2?startTime=1715184466000 Sarah's Links: https://embrace-ayurveda.com/ https://www.instagram.com/embraceayurveda Are you feeling the call to know more about Conscious Postpartum Care? This episode discusses how to maintain loving connections with people despite differences in perspectives or disagreements. Lauren Pick shares a vulnerable moment from her therapy practice where a client felt misunderstood after an emotional outburst, but Lauren responded with even more love and empathy. She emphasizes the importance of drawing closer together rather than separating during conflicts. Lauren discusses relationship dynamics and how disagreements don't need to divide people if they are willing to work through issues with curiosity rather than avoidance. Connecting during conflicts requires seeing the disagreement itself as a separate entity rather than each other. Speaker 1 agrees and notes this allows focusing on the relationship itself rather than individuals. Lauren also provides an example of vulnerability in her own therapy session and how matching that vulnerability with openness and care can help clients release tension and connect on a deeper level. Postpartum care is discussed, highlighting the need to meet new mothers where they are at by providing information gradually to build trust and comfort. The talk explores how prioritizing information over connection has imbalanced modern communication skills. Emotional intelligence is framed as a kind of wealth passed down through families via modeling communication skills. While these skills lie dormant within all people, conscious practices like eye contact and breath awareness can help activate deeper human connection. The conversation shifts to ways of reconnecting with one's ancestral line, especially for those who feel disconnected due to a lack of clear understanding or tradition in a Western context. Roshni suggests asking questions within the family about geographic origins and exploring documented archival culinary history, especially for those with European ancestry. Elimination Communication: Developing a routine with our babies during the sacred postpartum window with Samantha Veitch

Samantha Veitch is the founder of Emerging Wisdom Care. She is an Ayurvedic Postpartum Doula and Elimination Coach. Elimination Communication (EC) is the practice of learning your baby's elimination cues and being able to anticipate the process, thereby reducing the need for diapers. Essentially, it's infant potty training, though Samantha explains why she doesn't often use those words. In this episode, Samantha shared how she explains Elimination Communication to her clients. She discusses how this is an age old practice rather than a new fad families are exploring. We discuss incredibly valuable bonding and psychological benefits of this practice for babies, parents and how it integrates beautifully with the healing process in postpartum. Samantha shares how this practice is so beneficial right after birth, and how it becomes even easier when started early. She also encourages it as a fun and relaxed practice, rather than a stressful project to be strict about. In our conversation she shares cues to look and listen for, easy ways to get started, and the 4 entry points for elimination communication. I loved this conversation and learned so much. I know you will love it too. Below, Samantha shares some of the resources mentioned in the interview. Enjoy! Stop for a moment and think about any shame or guilt you are holding onto. Whenever you think about this incident or happening that causes guilt to bubble up within you, it's like a suckerpunch. It causes you pain and strife. You can feel it in your body. Understanding that everything is energy, so too is the energy of guilt and shame. That pain is stored within you, as a cellular memory. Your cells literally hold on to it, which can cause dis-eases and imbalance in your physical body over time. But there's more to it. If you want to change the world, then you have got to be willing to forgive yourself. Forgiveness is the key to a better world. Here's why: Like the Great Gandhi said: “Be the change you want to see in the world.” Forgiveness is not necessarily a practice of forgiving others, but of forgiving ourselves. When we honor and take responsibility for everything that's happened in our life, we can lighten the burden that blocks our receptivity. Learn how to move your body with Kundalini Yoga in ways that effectively release stuck emotions keeping you in a loop of shame and guilt, preventing you from being able to receive the many blessings you are so worthy of. With this potent practice, discover how easy and invigorating it is to free yourself from the internal punisher, and become open to move forward with optimism and joy. Become magnetic to MIRACLES! Don't worry if you have never experienced Kundalini Yoga before. This practice is easy, gentle and perfect for beginners! ‌ Stephanie Peers Empowered Mamma www.empoweredmamma.com Youtube: @empoweredmamma Email: stephanie@empoweredmamma.biz Mentioned in Video: Brett Larkin and Guru Singh of Kundalini University  Empowered Mamma Sacred Journey of Forgiveness - Kundalini Kriya Workshop Online 200-Hour Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training – Brett Larkin Yoga Are you feeling the call to know more about Conscious Postpartum Care? The Synchronicity of Birth Support and Postpartum Support with Birthing from Within's Program Director, Christine D'Esposito

In this episode, I speak with Christine D'Esposito, Director of Programs at Birthing from Within. During my own first pregnancy in 2007, Birthing from Within was an incredible support model for me in exploring the more subtle aspect of birth readiness, and harnessing my own feelings of empowerment to trust my body and honor the changes I was going through. Now, as a proponent of conscious postpartum care, I love how the tenants taught by Birthing from Within support the foundations of our work! This is a beautiful episode you don't want to miss! Christine D'Esposito is a Mentor, Doula and Facilitator with over fifteen years of experience in the field of birth work. She lives in Duluth, MN and is the Director of Programs at Birthing from Within. Birthing from Within was founded in 1998 by midwife Pam England when she realized that something was missing from birth preparation in our culture. While lots of organizations address parents' brains and bodies, very few address their hearts. Birthing from Within works to fill that gap by providing parents with preparation for the deep psychological and emotional transformations of birth. Christine discovered Birthing From Within in 2003 at her first doula training. It was the concept of honoring birth as a rite of passage and a transformational experience for everyone involved that spoke to her most. Christine has a passion for the intersection of birth and social justice work and aspires to be an agent of change in the world. www.birthingfromwithin.com Social media for FB and IG @‌birthingfromwithin

The sacred window is not just for postpartum. It is a bringing of reverence to a time that otherwise could pass without significance. Maybe we were able to have a supported and special time after our children were born, maybe we did not. Maybe we honored a sacred window during menopause or at any other major transition in our lives. What is important is that we paused, took a moment and acknowledged that something was important for us. We did something - maybe as small as a deep breath - maybe as involved as 40 days of a healing routine. We gave special care to ourselves in a big or small way to help sustain our energy, our health, our wellbeing in order to bring longevity and sustainability to our present and future selves. In this conversation with Marinella, we further explored the Sacred Window as a Yearly Ritual in some beautiful ways. It has opened up a window of inspiration for me, as I hope it will do for you. Enjoy! ‌ Marinella Benelli is a mother, postpartum doula (graduate of the Center for Sacred Window Studies), yoga teacher, massage therapist and holder of women's circles based in Bristol, UK. She has been working with women for over a decade, with a special focus on the childbearing years and rites of passage.
