“Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand.” – Bob Proctor The actions we take now are creating a future effect on our life. The beautiful thing about this law is that it emphasizes the amount of control we can assume over our lives—the ability to recreate our reality. What we sow, we shall reap. To make significant changes in our life, think through what actions we could take to set ourselves up for success. What does significant change look like and what steps could help you get there? The Law of Cause and Effect requires that we take ownership over our lives—the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of it. Thankfully, we have the power to create more of the good. Who you are is a cause and the life you have is the effect. The causes we initiate, impact what we will get in return. If we put out more abundant causes into the world (joy, appreciation, love, generosity), that is what we will receive in return. Who you are internally determines the cause and the effect is your compensation. To create more success, create a catalyst for success. If you're in sales, that means picking up the phone or opening your email to reach out to prospects. If you're an aspiring author, that means making time to write. Create the catalyst for change in your life. If you want to become a successful business person, ask yourself how you can incorporate some good habits into your current lifestyle to make you feel more like this successful business person. Find ways to create positive change in your life, whatever that means to you, so you can feel deserving of the positive effects. Our current life is a representation of how we view ourselves and the decisions we have made up to this point. Our habits are the cause and your current, present reality is the effect. You are in control; you are the catalyst. The thoughts, emotions, and behaviors you're experiencing are creating an effect. Your current identity is what you're manifesting. Who you are is the cause of your life. You have the ability to choose differently at any moment. The laws just, are. There is no "right" or "wrong", "fair" or "unfair". You're simply creating and the life you have is a representation of this creation. At the core of all of these laws, is your expectation, your beliefs about yourself. “You are the only problem you will ever have and you are the only solution.” – Bob Proctor Our expectation helps shape our reality, regardless of whether intentions are "good" or "bad". The Universe is neutral to the idea of “good” or “bad”. What matters is the intent behind our actions. It's about how WE perceive our own actions. If we believe our actions are good, that is what we get. If we believe our actions are bad, that is what we get in return. This is why seemingly "bad" people can accumulate wealth. They usually do not perceive themselves as "bad", they perceive themselves as abundant, lucky, in control, and wealthy, so that is what they get. The Universe is neutral and simply responds to the energy we put out. It's easier to have confidence in what we are manifesting when we believe it will happen and expect it to happen. It can be much harder for the average person to garner the same sense of self-confidence in their own abundance and worthiness which translates to success in their lives. This has nothing to do with “fairness”. This is the Universe's response to our “cause”, your beliefs. We are causative beings. The Universe doesn't mark people as deserving or not deserving, it just responds to how we feel about ourselves. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. “The only limits in our life are those we impose on ourselves.”- Bob Proctor All actions have a reaction, whether good or bad. Cause is the reason or action that produces results. Effect is the result of an action or cause. You can't have one without the other. To experience the benefits of this law, we must align our thoughts to influence our actions. Aligning ourselves with positive thoughts will set us up for a successful outcome. If we put in the work, the results will reflect our actions. If we want to be a New York bestselling author, we must put in the work. What we think and do becomes our reality. Ralph Waldo Emerson called the Law of Cause and Effect, “the Law of Laws.” This law decrees that whatever we send into the Universe comes back. Action and re-action are equal and opposite. Everything in the entire universe happens according to law—there is no such thing as chance. Every effect must have a cause; and in turn, that cause must have an effect. Thus, we have the perpetual, never-ending cycle of cause and effect. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. We are interested in continuing the conversation. The Energy of Business - The Law of Cause and Effect Ralph Waldo Emerson called the Law of Cause and Effect, “the Law of Laws.” This law decrees that whatever we send into the Universe comes back. Action and re-action are equal and opposite. “What goes around comes around.” “People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.” The Law of Cause and Effect basically says that what you put out comes back to either haunt you or help you. This law combines with the Law of Multiplication to dramatically impact our success. What we put out gets multiplied at least tenfold. Whatever we put out into the world, you get back multiplied. S11 E13 The Energy of Business - Make The Law of Cause & Effect Work For You |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz ''Every cause has an effect and every effect has a cause. Action set up a reaction, and the action/reaction determines what you attract.'' - Bob Proctor. The law of cause and effect shows us that every effect in life has a cause. The law of cause and effect teaches us that we are in control of our outcomes. We are in control of our outcomes because our thoughts influence our reality and how we choose to perceive it. Whatever we put out shapes our life and gives us our results. If we put out negativity, we get negativity in return. The same is true if we put out positivity. Every single thing we do causes an effect. Our actions are creating causes that show up as our reality. Actions lead to results and for every action, there is a reaction. This law is demonstrated beautifully by the Butterfly Effect in chaos theory. This is the idea that the flap of a butterfly's wings could have universal ramifications on the reality experienced millions of years later via the chain of events this sets off. If ANY cause was changed in the past, we could be living in a VERY different reality. In other words, we live in a highly complex system where pure chance cannot exist. “When you react, you are giving away your power. When you respond, you are staying in control of yourself.”--Bob Proctor So, how do you get started with the Law of Attraction? First it is important to know that you are already using the Law of Attraction just like you are using the Law of Gravity! The Law of Attraction is always reacting to you, to whatever you are thinking and doing. Where you are today is a direct result of your past thoughts, your goals, your choices, and your decisions. The Law of Attraction is always working. So how do you start using it for things you actually want? Acting ‘as if' is a way to help manifest something into our lives by acting as if we already have it. When you're seeking something you don't yet have, it is easy to get caught in a vicious circle of scarcity and lack. If you end up focusing on your lack of money, lack of love, lack of X, you only reinforce the fact you don't have it. Acting ‘as if' is as simple as feeling as if you have achieved something. Or feeling the emotions you'd feel if you had someone or something. You can use creative visualization to build that picture in your mind first. Then begin to act as if you already have it all. You can also use positive affirmations to back up your intentions to help you act ‘as if' you have what you desire. This also overlaps with, and compliments the Law of Assumption. Surrender and Accept. Surrendering to what is, after you've completed every other exercise is essential. After you have decided what you want to manifest, or what you want your life to look like then let everything else go. It can be difficult to do, but we need to surrender to the process and trust the process. Do not focus on what is wrong about the present or what can not be undone from the past. Only focus your energy on acceptance of the past and surrender to the future. “See yourself living in abundance and you will attract it. It always works, it works every time with every person. – Bob Proctor Law #1: Like Attracts Like The Law of Attraction in its most simple form is “like attracts like.” This means that things, objects, or people with similar energy attract each other. This happens every moment of every day whether you are aware of it or not. We see this energy shifting occuring when we attract similar experiences, people or things. Positive thought and emotion will attract positive things or experiences. The reverse is also true. Negative thoughts, and emotions, will attract negative things or experiences into our life. We tend to gravitate to things, people, or situations that have the same energy as us. Whether positive or negative in nature, this will only magnify the vibration we feel. It's important to remember that thoughts become things. The thoughts we have and the choices we make reflect back into our world and become our reality. We attract what we think about so it is best to go about this with clear intention. Be careful of your thoughts and what you are thinking and feeling. Surround yourself with the kind of people that make you feel great, that you want to grow with, or become more like. Law #2: Nature Abhors a Vacuum According to the ancient philosopher Aristotle, “Nature abhors a vacuum.” He observed that nature requires all space to fill with something. Even if that something is colorless, odorless air. It is impossible to have empty space in our mind or life. Empty space will fill with whatever you attract, whether you like it or not. Remove what you don't want in your life and make room for positive things to replace them. The best way to think of this is to remember how good it feels to tidy a desk, a cupboard or a room. You remove the clutter. You throw out or recycle what you don't need. After cleaning you replace everything with new, clean, tidy things. Your mind becomes clear. Your mood is brighter and you feel positive. Law #3: The Present is Always Perfect Whatever is happening in the present is a direct result of our past choices and decisions. Surrender to what is. The past is the past and you have infinite possibilities in the future, so accept what is in the present. It may seem imperfect and you may feel unhappy but you should focus your mind on being positive. Enjoy the present for the perfect moment that it is. “Science and psychology have isolated the one prime cause for success or failure in life. It is the hidden self-image you have of yourself.” – Bob Proctor The Law of Attraction is always working, every single second of every day. It is reacting to how you act, all the time. It works whether you are acting in a positive or negative way. If you know and believe that you deserve good things you will act a certain way. You will set great goals and make plans and without thinking, you will put yourself in situations that lead to exactly where you need to be. Some of these things might seem like “lucky breaks” but they aren't. The Law of Attraction is giving you exactly what you think you deserve. If you have limiting beliefs and think that you don't deserve something, this will reflect in your behaviors. You'll act in a way that won't put you in situations that will result in anything positive. You'll use negative language or have a negative attitude. You won't notice perfect timing. You won't end up in the right place at the right time. The Law of Attraction is giving you exactly what you think you deserve. You get less of what you want, because you know you don't deserve it and are acting exactly in this way. The Law of Attraction works in a similar way to what Maxwell Maltz calls the ‘servo-mechanism” in his book Psycho Cybernetics. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. “The only limits in our life are those we impose on ourselves.” – Bob Proctor When we understand the possibilities that life has to offer, we realize we are the creators of our lives and the rulers of our destiny. We always create all of our results in our mind first. Then, through the choices we make and the actions we take, we begin to see the world around us change. This works both in the positive and negative. If we don't like what we are currently seeing in our lives, we can always change it! Life is a blank canvas of possibility; you are in control of what the finished picture could look like. The Law of Attraction is simple, precise and always accurate. All laws of nature are completely perfect and the Law of Attraction is no exception. No matter what you are looking to have or achieve or be in life, if you can hold onto an idea and see it for yourself in your mind's eye, you can make it yours to have… with a little effort, action and emotion on your part. Create a burning desire, and hold that image long enough and it can't help but become reality. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. “That's why people that are doing what they love never have to work again. They spend their whole life in a wonderful vibration.” — Bob Proctor If you want to know whether you are working with or against the Law of Vibration, just take a good look at your life right now. Are you accomplishing your goals and living a fulfilling life? Or are you scraping to get by and are always feeling negative? Time and hard work alone are not enough to reach our goals. If we do not change our vibration, we will never realize our dreams and manifest our goals. This is why we often experience the “things are not moving in our way” moments. When our energy vibration is not in alignment with what we desire in our life, things will seem to go against us regardless of what we do. We can put in extra hours to work on our dreams, work harder, find ways, learn better strategy, hire more talented people to our company, get better business partners, etc., but if our vibration does not change, we will eventually suffer the same outcomes, which is a business failure. This is why an entrepreneur can fail at a business and when they start another business, they will experience the same failure. And when they finally “get it”, they change their vibration in harmony with their goals, they will finally manifest the success results they want. Are you working hard on your goals and are trying your best to manifest your dreams, but you fail to realize them no matter how hard you try? If this is happening to you, you need to change your vibration. You need to create vibrations (thoughts and feelings) that are in harmony with what you want. When our vibration is in alignment with what we say we want, things will come to us automatically, without much effort. “Vibration is essential to understand but only one person, maybe ten has any grasp of it at all.” – Bob Proctor If we want to raise and improve our vibration, start paying attention to how you feel at each moment. There is no point in saying that you want to be rich, but if you do not feel it, you will never attract it. This is the main reason most people fail to make the Law of Attraction work because they fail with the basic Law of Vibration. When you are feeling down, emotional and negative, do something to raise your vibration. Try one or more of the following to raise your vibration: Write down the things that you are grateful for and feel the appreciation. When you feel thankful and grateful for what you have, you will operate from a higher level of vibration. Listen to music you love and that will inspire you and watch how you start to feel inspired and you want to take action. This is because the music frequency will raise the vibration in your body too. Take a walk in nature. Let the energy and vibration of the trees, the wind, the soil and nature make you feel pleasant. Send your love to people who are bothering you. It is always our feelings and emotions that control our vibration. It is our vibration that we send out to the Universe, not our thoughts. Our thoughts alone are not enough in helping us attract the things we want. Merely thinking about what we want is not enough. We also need to feel it. “Attraction is a law but it's the secondary law, the primary law is the law of vibration. The law of vibration is one of the basic laws of the universe. It decrees that everything moves, nothing rests, we literally live in an ocean of motion.” – Bob Proctor Your Thoughts and Emotions are Energies in Vibration. Our thoughts are energies in vibration too. The Law of Attraction, which is based on the Law of Vibration, states that we attract what we are sending out to the universe. When we think a certain thought, our brain's cells or neurons will vibrate at a certain frequency and this high-speed energy will attract whatever you send out through your thoughts. When you understand that your thoughts and emotions are energy vibration (Law of Vibration), and you know that “like attracts like” (Law of Attraction), you will appreciate that you can now start to alter and transform your life just by altering your thoughts and emotions, which will ultimately alter the energy vibration within you. When you think, you activate your brain cells, and you set up a vibration in your body. We are constantly changing our vibrations as we think throughout the day. The vibration you are in will dictate what you attract into your life. If you are constantly worried and troubled, you will attract a lot of bad energy. And what you fear will come to you. This is why it is often said, “You will become what you think about most of the time.” Perhaps, the best scientific way to explain how the Law of Vibration works is through the use of a tuning fork. A tuning fork can serve as a useful illustration of how a vibrating object can produce sound. When you get two tuning forks with the same frequency and hit one with a rubber hammer, it will vibrate and transmit sound waves to its surroundings, which causes the second tuning fork to vibrate and produce the same sound waves. This is also known as a resonance. When you think a certain thought or feel a certain emotion, you are transmitting energy through vibration to your surroundings, and other things, people, and experiences that are vibrating in the same frequency will be attracted to you. This is the same as resonance. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. We are interested in continuing the conversation. “Vibration is essential to understand but only one person, maybe ten, has any grasp of it at all.” – Bob Proctor Nothing rests, everything moves. This Universal Law states that everything in the Universe moves and vibrates - everything is vibrating at one speed or another. Nothing rests. Everything you see around you is vibrating at one frequency or another and so are you. Your frequency is different from other things in the universe, so it seems like you are separated from what you see around you - people, animals, plants, trees and so on. BUT you are not separated - you are in fact living in an ocean of energy - we all are. We are all connected at the lowest level. Everything has its own vibrational frequency - the table - the car - the picture frame - the rock - even our thoughts and feelings. It is all governed by The Law of Vibration. “Thoughts become things. If you see it in your mind, you will hold it in your hand.” ― Bob Proctor Using this idea of interconnectedness, we can create ripple effects throughout our lives by focusing on how we feel and how we conduct ourselves in this life. In other words, to manifest the things you want, you have to trigger an avalanche of positive outcomes. How To Change Your Energy. You now know that everything is energy and that we have the power to transform reality by aligning our own energy with our intentions. The next question is: What are the best ways to harness that power? Before you can change the universe, energy needs to make sense to you. In other words, you need to have a grasp of the nature of energy and your reality before you can start to transform that reality. Find Your Inner Spiritual Energy. When we say that everything is energy, we also mean that you are a form of energy. Whether you think of the stuff you are made of as soul energy, spiritual energy, or something else, the point is that there is no real division between you and other entities (or even your environment). You are not constrained by space or time. Once you start to see this, it becomes obvious that you can influence your environment and shape your reality in accordance with your goals. To further tap into your spiritual energy and your sense of being beyond your body, try meditation exercises. Boost Your Vibrations With Positive Energy. “Perception precedes reality." - Andy Warhol Merriam Webster's definition of reality says “The world or the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them.” Merriam Webster's definition of perception says “The state of being or process of becoming aware of something through the senses.” As humans, everything we ‘know,' perceive, and experience is perception. With our consciousness, we can only ‘know' what we experience and perceive. We attempt to know what we conceptualize and we create what we imagine” — Consciousness Liberty When we collectively perceive experiences or measure them scientifically we call this reality. But it is not reality, it is collective perception. Collective perception is the experience of the collective (in this case humans) that we like to define as being close to the truth of “reality” or “as this actually exists.” As perceptive beings, we cannot “know” reality or absolute truth. S10 E37 The Ruler Deep Dive |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “We do not remember days, we remember moments.” – Cesare Pavese The hero's journey is often seen as preparation for leadership. In modern life, we become the Ruler by taking complete responsibility for our own lives – not only for our inner reality, but also for the way our outer world mirrors our reality. When we have become too comfortable and stop growing, our world feels like a wasteland. We must allow new life and the budding new hero within us to take a new journey. The Ruler creates a peaceful and harmonious world by becoming peaceful and harmonious inside. There are five levels of the Ruler: Shadow - Controlling, rigid, tyrannical and manipulative behaviors; the ogre tyrant Call - Lack of resources, harmony, support, or order in our life Spiral One - Taking responsibility for the state of your life; seeking healing wounds or areas of powerlessness that are reflected in scarcity in your outer life; concerned primarily with your own life or your own family Spiral Two - Developing skills and creating structures for manifesting your own dreams in the real world as it is; concerned with the good of whatever group or community you belong to Spiral Three - Fully utilizing all resources – internal as well as external; concerned with the good of society or the planet Imagine that you are literally the King or Queen of your realm (your life). Let yourself imagine that you can change virtually anything you want, since you are totally in charge. There is, of course, a political process to consider; you may need to convince your “subjects” of the wisdom of your dictates, but begin simply by thinking of what you would like to decree. Start with your domain – your home, your private life, the part of your work life that is within your control. Then imagine yourself writing the new laws, or writing a speech explaining the new policies to your “subjects” and negotiating with the Rulers of nearby kingdoms to gain their cooperation. Claiming Your Hero's Story Identifying your own great story (or stories) helps you to find something of your own specialness in a way that helps you understand the significance of your own life. No one but you can tell this story because you are the only one who knows what you are here to do or to learn. E41 Your Life Story/Your Life Myth |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Myths are made for the imagination to breathe life into them.”---Albert Camus Finding the great story that informs your life is a sacred task. To know your story is to know who you are. It is not to be taken lightly, although it does not have to be unduly heavy either. If you know your own great story, you are much less likely to sell yourself short, to get confused by the inessential, or to let others manipulate you or talk you into being less than you could be. For most of our lives, many of us feel as if we are traveling without a map. We know we're moving, but we have no real sense of where we have been, where we are, or where we are headed. The model provided over this past season provides a general map for the journey but it is a generic map, not one tailored to your individual life. Your own great story will very likely have one or two dominant archetypes, and very definitely will include many different archetypal elements, but the way you put them together will be unique – and your own. The first step to writing your story is finding your dominant Myth. The best way to determine your dominant myth is to write or otherwise express your life story, as honestly as you know how, and then notice its underlying plot structure. The danger of not knowing one's life myth is that it is possible to continually judge oneself by the standard of a journey that is not their own. For example, someone whose compelling Myth is that of the Lover may continue to be apologetic about his or her failure to achieve great feats, since most people in our culture measure themselves against the yardstick of the Myth of the Warrior and the Ruler. Someone who's informing Myth is the Ruler however may feel inadequate for failing to live simply in the moment, that is, to be a Fool. People often feel a great sense of relief after they write their story and find their informing myth, since they see that what they have been doing is, in fact, just right for them. However not everyone feels this way. When people identify the plot they have been living, they may suddenly realize that they are possessed or imprisoned, not liberated, by the story and its informing archetype. One way of talking about this is to see such a myth as one's script. Now the challenge: Write your Life Story/Life Myth. When you do, write it in an ordinary narrative way. You might want to include insights you've had while following this series. Think about the Archetypes that were active at different ages and add in the balance between what you have been taught to be, what you want to be and the deepest truth about your life purpose. Then write it in mythic language as a story of your heroic journey. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. We are interested in continuing the conversation. S10 E42 Recognizing Your Script |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “If we own the story then we can write the ending.” – Brene Brown Each of us has a script that has been devised in childhood as a response to what others told you about what your abilities and options were. Transactional analysis tells us that we can actually have a “script” and ”counterscript. Liberation comes when we recognize our scripts and can see if they breed positive results. Our scripts are heavily determined by outside influences. If we are named after a famous general or the toys we were given were guns and toy soldiers, we will most likely identify with the Warrior. If they bought us dolls and told us what a great mommy we would make, we are likely to identify with the Caregiver. The script is often a compensation for some early wounding. We try to come up with a plot for our lives that will keep us safer and less vulnerable to pain. This wounding is frequently the negative or limiting messages we get about ourselves or our possibilities. These scripts reflect an underlying fear that unless we act according to the script, we will not survive. When the script is read as a myth or metaphor, the way to healing that wound is also embedded in the script. The psychological function of the script is to heal us of our primary wounding so we can go on to express our true story. When we recognize that scripts have an Archetype embedded in them, we can understand that most of us are better off if we don't fight our scripts. It is better to simply recognize them and take them to a higher level. When writing your script include the following: Who have you been scripted to be? How does this script limit your life? What might be the gift or lesson in your script? Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. We are interested in continuing the conversation. S10 E43 Steps to Write Your Life Story |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Life is like a blank book, you write your own story not others.” – Zihan Zheng If your hero's story seems to be a confining Myth to you, you may want to reinterpret what the Myth could mean to you. Many people find that they have two major stories active at the same time: a script and a deeper, more empowering myth. While it may be ideal to know our own Miss once and for all, it is unlikely that we will do so. Our understanding of our life tasks and our life story is an evolving one, one that is actually greatly affected by what is on top for us during the specific chronological period. during which we are writing. Any of us who gets too attached to any one version of Our Own Story, or is living out an unexamined story, needs the renewal that comes from reconsidering that story in the light of current realities. It is a good idea to update your myth frequently to see that the plot you are living is still a useful and enlivening one. Use these five steps as a guide to writing your life's story: What was the most empowering thing anyone ever told you about yourself? Who and what has most inspired you? How's your life been altered because of this person, idea, or experience? What brings you real pleasure and satisfaction? What are you good at? What do you really love to do? Write your life story in the form of an obituary that will describe the essential truth of your life. It is not necessary to write what you think your obituary will say. Write what it would say if you fulfilled your potential in every area of life – personal and spiritual as well as professional. What would it say if you lived your life fully and on your deathbed had no regrets? What Archetypes have been active in your life? What Archetypes would have to be active in your life for you to fulfill your potential? Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. S10 E44 Finding a New Story |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Be brave enough to write your own story… And then rewrite it.” – Maria Shriver There is no way to be happy except to live out your own deep, great story. The development of the Ego requires us to develop and act out our formative story. When we experience initiation, that story begins to fail us. It is simply not adequate to guide us in the new territory we have entered. During this time, we feel conflicted, cursed with an inner struggle between two conflicting stories, and cognitive dissonance, until there is some resolution. At this point, we may not yet have any conscious knowledge of what reconciliation is. We may simply feel a void where the struggle used to be. It is often by observing our actions that we discover what the resolution is. Here are three steps to find a new story: Examine the myths or stories you have written and determine whether they enliven or interfere with your life. If there are parts of these myths or stories you wish to change, do so. Begin working on a countermyth, remembering that the key to your countermyth will be found in your fantasies. See if you can integrate the best of these two myths or stories. The difference between living a great story and living your own story is that the second one is genuinely your own story that you are living. This makes you feel deeply satisfied and there is meaning in your life. No life, no matter how successful and exciting it might be, will make you happy if it is not really your life. And no life will make you miserable if it is genuinely your own. The future we face may be a nightmare or a miracle. The choice is ours. E22 Questions Asked To Find The Self |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”― C.G. Jung On our journey to finding The Self, meaning is revealed when we open our Souls to living life from a deeper level. This deeper level is found in the questions we ask ourselves. The first question to ask is what to do with our Call and with our lives. The second question is to uncover what ails us. Revealing this shows our readiness to be healed. The third question requires us to ask what we must sacrifice. The fourth question calls us to ask for clarity around what we truly need so we can separate what we truly need from what we think we need or want. Finally, we open ourselves up to receive the answers in order to become whole and to ask what our Souls then require of us. When we ask the proper questions we get the answers to be healed and experience transformation. To be conscious is to wake up and take a new kind of responsibility for being true to ourselves and constructive members of the human race. This is what it means to be fully awake: conscious in your body, feeling your feelings, able to express who you are in the world, and willing to take full responsibility for your life. Experiencing the self is not simply about being virtuous. It is about tapping into the fullness of our capacities. Unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. Sooner or later this consciousness will split and the journey will begin again. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. We are interested in continuing the conversation. E21 The Responsibility To Be Conscious |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “The key to growth is the production of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness.” — Lao Tzu All Selves are fundamentally wounded when Ego and Soul are disconnected from each other. Most of us have experienced calls to the quest - great loves, passions and losses; internal and external suffering and conflict; and opportunities to create and miscreate our own lives – but if we take them in stride without recognizing their Soul purpose, we may not find the miracles.. Transformation happens when we wake up and experience wonder instead of sleepwalking through life. We need to ponder these events, ask to have the meaning revealed and allow ourselves to recognize that we have been touched by something greater than ourselves. The Self is not fully realized until we are willing to accept the burden of consciousness and not only have our initiating experiences, but also allow the wisdom they bring to be integrated into consciousness. This is done when we accept the responsibility of knowing what we know – and also inquiring what we might know. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. E24 The Self And Inner Balance |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Remember that your perception of the world is a reflection of your state of consciousness.” Eckhart Tolle Good news! We are not forever stuck in the loop of expressing ourselves in the world to experience transient unity and then returning to suffering. If the Self were only the Ruler, the cycle of suffering and redemption might be endless. Fortunately, this stage also incorporates the Magician, the Sage and the Fool into the journey. On the psychological level, each of the four Archetypes is an aspect of the integrated Self. When all four are in balance, the psyche is peaceful and the cycle of suffering and healing is suspended. The Ruler is associated with the creation of psychological wholeness and order. The Ruler's goal for the psyche is the creation of a single, unified, fully manifested Self. The Magician is the element that can continually heal and transform the Self when the order gets too rigid. The Magician is the part of the psyche that can integrate the Shadow and transform it into useful energy. The Sage is the part of the psyche that is experienced in mediation as the objective Self. It watches our thoughts and feelings and is the Wise Old Woman or Man in our dreams who gives trustworthy counsel. The Fool is the element of the psyche that represents multiplicity of consciousness and continually undercuts our sense of a unified Self. The Fool teaches us that we are always expressing our Selves in the world, not a single Self. Together these four major Archetypes help us be integrated and responsible, healthy and connected, honest and wise, multifaceted and joyous. They are the reward at the end of the journey. When the Ego dominated, we lived in a world of scarcity, but now things feel abundant. E23 Expressing Ourselves In The World |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that creates it.--Albert Einstein When we commit our lives to the service of our deep Soul purpose, we can never go back to life as we knew it. There is a loss as well as a gain. The issue for us today is not simply to create the unified Self - connecting Ego and Soul, heart and head, male and female - but also to express this Self in the everyday business of living our lives. The wandering Soul or pilgrim in each of us needs to be coaxed into developing an expanded, deepened consciousness by awe and mystery while staying grounded by the task of ordinary living. We are called to the challenging task of moving from the divine to ordinary work of day-to-day living. We must integrate the uncommon and the ordinary. It is not the separate, transpersonal experience that matters, but rather how the experience guides the way we live our lives. This is what the return is all about. E17 Soul Initiation on The Hero's Journey |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the secret of success.” – Swami Sivananda The purpose of initiation is to help us recognize the meaning and significance of the experiences it symbolizes in our own lives. The uninitiated do not lack the experience of Soul, but they fail to recognize its power and meaning. The Hero's Journey is an initiation into the realities of the Soul Journey. This journey requires us to establish and let go of control over our lives in order to experience life's wholeness. To do this, we must expand our Ego's narrow view and let go of sentiment, safety and predictability and even our concern with physical safety, effectiveness and virtue. Without Soul, we feel like robots. We go through all the right motions, but it ends up being movement without meaning. Every time we enter into initiation we go deeper and deeper into our levels of understanding. There is no punishment for failing to connect with our Soul except the ever-present sense of meaninglessness in our life .. which is punishment enough! E19 Shifting Soul Perspectives on The Hero's Journey |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Always trust your instincts, they are messages from your soul, they are that inner part of you that strives to make you whole.”----- Anonymous When we let go of everything in our lives and consciousness that needs to die, and we are open to what needs to be born, we learn to feel the awe and wonder that our own willing participation in these cycles can bring. It is difficult for our Egos to understand Soul suffering in any form. The Innocent wants to deny unpleasant truths, and just have faith. The Orphan takes death and suffering as further indication that life is not fair. The Caregiver and the Warrior both try to protect the world from suffering - the Warrior through trying to find and slay the cause of suffering and the Caregiver by taking all suffering on itself to save others. A shift of perspective is basic to all initiating experiences. We have to learn to see, hear and think in ways that make new levels of experience accessible to us. This is also an exercise in altering our perceptions. Most of us do not consciously choose our initiation. It just happens to appear and often is quite a shock! We can be shocked into disorientation by sudden suffering, loss or pain. We can also become disoriented through pathology, disability or betrayal. Others become disoriented by an overload of stress and an inability to cope with their lives. The hectic pace of modern life may be a strategy we use as a culture to overwhelm ourselves into disorientation, but these usually backfire. Disorientation by itself is not initiation. Initiation happens only when we are thrown enough that we begin to search for meaning at a deeper level. The challenge in this is to not try to pretend everything is under control. Stay with the sense of disorientation and powerlessness while staying open to a deep inner knowing of what you need to see that you have not seen .. What is the lesson? In these moments the rational mind wants to figure it all out. This is the Ego's way of jumping in, but Ego cannot help at the Soul level. You can quiet your mind during initiating moments by saying, “This seems like an initiatory experience to me. I know I can figure it out. I also cannot push harder and get the situation under control. I can use my Ego to act responsibly in the world while this is going on (take care of my responsibilities). But it is my Soul that is being awakened by these experiences. All I can do to deal with this is to wait until the learning I need comes to me.” Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. We are interested in continuing the conversation. E18 The Hero's Journey Soul Initiation - Becoming Real |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “The living soul of man, once conscious of its power, cannot be quelled.”----Horace Mann Initiation begins in childhood with our first experiences of confusion, suffering, intense love, longing and frustration. The story of Pinocchio is a well-known example of this process. He starts out as a wooden puppet and transforms into a real boy. On the symbolic level, living life only at the level of the Ego is like being a robot, toy or other inanimate object. We feel a burning desire for a more genuine experience. The quest with its call to Spirit is only the first step to finding such genuineness. Initiation shakes up our way of seeing the world and requires us to connect with our deeper wisdom to understand what is happening to us. This initiation may anticipate the experiences of suffering, deprivation and loss brought on by the Archetype of the Destroyer, the capacity for genuine and passionate love and connection associated with the Archetype of the Lover, and finally, the union with one's Soul, which allows for the birth of the new Self (the Creator). E20 Archetypal Influences on Soul Development |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “My soul is from elsewhere, I'm sure of that, and I intend to end up there.”------ Rumi The four Archetypes most active on the journey to becoming real (like the puppet Pinocchio became a real boy) are the Seeker, the Destroyer, the Lover and the Creator. Together they help us experience meaning and authenticity in our lives. Each parallels a different element or aspect of the Soul. The Seeker seeks enlightenment and transformation but initially is very controlled by the thinking process of the Ego. The Seeker's journey requires courage to break away from dependency and leap ahead into the unknown. We always fear what we do not understand or know. The Seeker in each of us challenges us to explore what we fear most. By braving the unknown, we ourselves are transformed. All heroes know we cannot gain the treasure without the willingness to confront the dragon. We first come as Warriors believing the dragon is outside ourselves. We slay it and win the treasure of Ego strength. When we confront it again, we recognize the dragon is ourselves and we gain access to the treasures of our Souls. The inner Lover Archetype comes through unification of our opposing attributes within us like our conscious and unconscious minds. This allows us to feel redemptive, compassionate (agape) love not only for another, but also for ourselves. This results in a deeper and more unified experience of the Self, characterized by greater and greater aspects of wholeness, potency and power. The Creator Archetype helps awaken the seed of our genuine identities deep within us. It is part of what we call the imagination and provides focus to our imaginative efforts. We can experience these four Soul-related Archetypes consciously in analysis (or dreams); through spiritual searching or through day-to-day experiences in your life. E11 Addictions & Compulsions on The Hero's Journey |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Tragedy is an unfinished comedy.”― Joseph Campbell. We can become addicted to behaviors and thought patterns as well as to substances. Any time an Archetype possesses us, the result is addictive or compulsive tendencies. What behavior a person is addicted to depends on which Archetype is dominant, but all of them limit our lives. The fewer Archetypes active in their positive form in our lives, the more prone we are to addictiveness. The following lists behaviors and attitudes that we can become addicted or attached to when we are possessed by the corresponding Archetype (listed as Archetype - Addictive Quality - Addiction) Innocent Denial Consumerism/sugar/cheerfulness Orphan Cynicism Powerlessness/worrying Warrior Stoicism Achievement/success Caregiver Rescuing Caretaking/co-depencence Seeker Self-centeredness Independence/perfection Destroyer Self-destructiveness Suidide/self-destructive habits Lover Intimacy problems Relationships/sex Creator Obsessiveness Work/creativity Ruler High control needs Control/codependence Magician Dishonesty(image) Power/hallucinogenic drugs/marijuana Sage Judgmentalism Being right/tranquilizers Fool Inebriation Excitement/cocaine/alcohol Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. E9 Recognizing Shadow Forms Along the Hero's Journey |IBGR | Donna Kunde & Londina Cruz “Wars and temper tantrums are the makeshifts of ignorance; regrets are illuminations that come too late.”― Joseph Campbell. All of the 12 Archetypes are present in every one of us but sometimes we push them down and do not allow them to express themselves in our lives. This activates the negative forms of the Archetypes. When we feel the negative forms of the Archetypes show up in our lives, we tend to want to push them down further because we are afraid they might be opening the door to monsters. Often, the negative forms are activated by all of the “shoulds” and “should nots” of our lives. Every “should” and “should not” that we experience becomes a scale on our dragon. Some people who have not allowed many, if any, of the Archetypes into their lives see both their inner and outer world filled with dragons - and the world seems to be a very frightening place. The way to overcome this is to educate the Ego and in time allow some of the more positive sides of the Archetypes into your daily living. When we feel awful, we are stuck expressing an Archetype in its negative form. To feel empowered again, we need to simply take a closer look at this Archetype and refuse to let it control us. But we can only do this when we honor the Archetype by expressing it in some way. What most people don't realize is that each dragon is hiding a treasure. When we make peace with the dragon, the treasure is given to us. Make sure you leave some thoughts in the comment section below. We are interested in continuing the conversation.
