The primary goal of Israeli and American attacks on Iran was to remove the country's "existential" nuclear threat. But what if the attacks have the opposite effect, motivating the Iran to pull of the non-proliferation treaty and resume their nuclear program covertly? In parliament, Iranian lawmakers voted overwhelmingly to suspend cooperation with the IAEA. This means that Iran would halt inspections, reporting and oversight activities. Iran always insisted its nuclear program is peaceful. For some perspective, we bring you Christiane's 1995 report on her visit to Iran's earliest nuclear power plant in Bushehr.   Also on today's show: Gary Samore, former White House Coordinator for Arms Control; Elaine Sciolino, author of "Adventures in the Louvre"; Mark Henson, Dir. of Federal Advocacy and Government Affairs, The Trevor Project  Learn more about your ad choices. As the US military intervenes in another Middle East conflict, we're told it's because Iran is harbouring weapons of mass destruction (in contradiction to US intelligence). We're also told forced regime change will ‘liberate' women from Islamic tyranny. WMDs? Operation Freedom? Haven't we heard these justifications before? To start, we look at lessons for the media from the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and re-centre Iranian women in debates about their fates. After the break: ‘NOTHING IS OFF LIMITS' in Johnny Depp's new exclusive with the Sunday Times… except the most important question. How this ‘poor me' piece legitimises abusers' victimhood narratives, and attempts to delegitimise the Me Too movement. And finally, the UK government has moved to proscribe ‘Palestine Action' as a terrorist organisation for spray-painting RAF planes. Media Storm questions why we need anti-terror laws on top of regular anti-crime laws, and whether politicising justice can ever be in the public interest. On today's show, we continue our discussion of the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, examining the roots of the tension and the current flashpoints driving it forward. We focus specifically on the growing international concern over Iran's nuclear ambitions — why so many world leaders believe Iran should never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons, and what that means for regional and global security. We'll walk through how Iran has developed its nuclear program despite years of sanctions, international oversight, and repeated diplomatic efforts to halt it. From covert facilities to uranium enrichment and ballistic missile development, we break down what Iran has accomplished so far, and how it's been able to bypass restrictions. We'll also explore Israel's position — why its leaders view a nuclear-armed Iran as an existential threat — and what actions Israel has already taken, both militarily and diplomatically, to prevent Iran from reaching that threshold.Plus, what role has the U.S. played, and where does the international community stand now as the situation becomes more volatile?Freedom Marketplace: https://freedommarketplace.net The Stack: https://www.toddhuffshow.com/stack-of-stuff Email: todd@toddhuffshow.comPhone: 317.210.2830Follow us on…Instagram: @toddhuffshowFacebook: The Todd Huff ShowTwitter: @toddhuffshowLinkedIn: The Todd Huff ShowTikTok: @toddhuffshowSupport Our Partners:https://www.toddhuffshow.com/partners Links:https://www.mypillow.com/todd Promo Code: TODDhttps://mystore.com/toddhttps://soltea.com - Promo Code TODD for $29.95 off your first orderEaston University - https://www.eastonuniversity.comRed, White, & Brand – Text TODD at 317-210-2830 for a 10% discount.
