Hawk's interest is procedural. Two actions like that mean two warrants, which means agents went to a federal judge with an affidavit and established probable cause, both that crimes likely occurred and that evidence of them would likely be found in those specific places. That is a meaningful threshold, and it is not a finding of guilt. The open question is jurisdiction. Sexual assault is generally prosecuted by states. Federal involvement usually points to something crossing state lines, and the reporting so far does not explain which theory applies here. That implies a roughly 12 point environment in House and Senate races, slightly better than what the same measure showed heading into 2018, when Democrats gained 40 House seats. These are candidates who won Democratic primaries. Eight or ten of them now, several against sitting incumbents. Angie Nixon is running the same play everywhere it works: populism and affordability, gas and groceries and rent and utility bills. The Senate sits at 53 to 47. Democrats need four seats for a majority. Realistic targets include Alaska, Texas, Ohio, Maine, Iowa, North Carolina, and possibly Kansas and Nebraska, while holding open seats in Michigan and Minnesota. The House is tighter than it looks: Southern redistricting after this year's Voting Rights Act ruling is projected to cost Democrats a dozen seats, so the real number is closer to twenty. That math is the whole argument. Narrow margins give an administration something to work with. Overwhelming ones do not. Hawk's concern is the window between election day and swearing in, and the fact that the officials who refused Trump in 2020 are gone. Pat Cipollone, Bill Barr, and career DOJ lawyers said no then. Johnson won in a landslide and the spot became the most famous attack ad in American political history. In the remake, the girl picking daisies is regenerated with AI and placed on an operating table in front of a synthetic Talarico while a narrator lists procedures. Talarico's campaign says he has never supported gender reassignment surgery for minors and calls the ad a lie. The reported buy is 10 million dollars. Hawk's point is that none of this is a policy argument. It is a bet on whether voters can tell a fabricated video from a real one. There is a legal wrinkle worth noting. The question as phrased lets a witness pivot to the Electoral College and the congressional certification. Asking who won the popular vote in 2020 would close that door and pin them down. Two of the four nominees in this hearing are headed for federal judgeships. One already holds an Article III lifetime appointment and is up for the Court of Appeals, meaning Trump has no leverage over him at all. He still would not say it. Several respected polls, Quinnipiac and AP among them, now put Trump's approval rating in the low thirties, with one at 30 percent. Some of those figures sit below where he was after January 6th. He is an anchor on Republican candidates while endorsing people like Ken Paxton. Shawn Ryan and Megyn Kelly have both gone public with their disillusionment over the second term, the self enrichment, the Epstein files, Todd Blanche, Pam Bondi, and the economy.
