*Bronnen* DigiD / Solvinity - NOS: https://nos.nl/artikel/2615885-staatssecretaris-verbiedt-amerikaanse-overname-solvinity-bedrijf-achter-digid - Wet OZT: https://wetten.overheid.nl/BWBR0045423 - Wet VIFO: https://wetten.overheid.nl/BWBR0046686 RSI - TechCrunch: https://techcrunch.com/2026/05/28/rsi-is-the-new-agi-and-its-just-as-hard-to-pin-down/ Kali365 - FBI IC3: https://www.ic3.gov/PSA/2026/PSA260521 - BleepingComputer: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/fbi-warns-of-kali365-phishing-service-targeting-microsoft-365-accounts/ ASocks / residential proxies - Politie: https://www.politie.nl/nieuws/2026/mei/28/06-politie-en-ncsc-halen-groot-botnetwerk-offline.html - NCSC expertblog: https://www.ncsc.nl/expertblogs/residential-proxies-en-hun-grote-impact-op-de-digitale-veiligheid-in-nederland - NCSC nieuws: https://www.ncsc.nl/nieuws/gezamenlijke-actie-politie-en-ncsc-legt-groot-botnetwerk-plat - Security.nl: https://www.security.nl/posting/938396/Proxy-botnet+van+17+miljoen+apparaten+na+actie+politie+en+NCSC+offline?channel=rss Maschmeyer / AI - CV Maschmeyer: https://www.lennartmaschmeyer.com/CV_Lennart_Maschmeyer.pdf - Paper: https://doi.org/10.1162/isec.a.398 - M-Trends 2025: https://cloud.google.com/security/resources/m-trends

North Korea has supplied Russia with 20,000 containers of munitions and 60% of its artillery shells for the war in Ukraine. In the Middle East, North Korea trained Syria in chemical warfare and constructed a 45-kilometer tunnel network for Hezbollah in Lebanon. Weapons like RPGs and machine guns are also supplied to Hamas. China remains a crucial facilitator, providing the dual-use technology necessary for North Korea's robust military-industrial complex. In this episode, we host Edmund Fitton-Brown to explore how Iran projects power beyond its borders through proxies, criminal networks, intelligence services, and deniable operations. Drawing on his experience as a former British Ambassador to Yemen and former senior United Nations expert on ISIS, al-Qaeda and the Taliban, Edmund explains why Iran's external operations cannot be understood simply through the language of “sleeper cells” or conventional state espionage. We discuss why Iran's threat model is increasingly hybrid, asymmetric, and difficult to categorise. From the Houthis' role in the Red Sea and Hezbollah's weakened but still significant position in Lebanon, to alleged Iranian-backed plots in the UK, the use of organised criminals, the evolving relationship between Iran and al-Qaeda, and the wider breakdown of international counterterrorism cooperation after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, this conversation offers a timely guide to how state-backed coercion, terrorism, proxy warfare, and organised crime now overlap.Edmund Fitton-Brown is a former British diplomat and counterterrorism specialist. He joined the UK Foreign Service in 1984 and served in several Middle Eastern and European postings, including as British Ambassador to Yemen from 2015 to 2017. He later joined the United Nations Security Council Sanctions Monitoring Team, becoming Coordinator in 2018 and leading work on sanctions and global threat assessment relating to ISIS, al-Qaeda and the Taliban until 2022. He is currently a Senior Fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Senior Advisor at the Counter Extremism Project, a RUSI Senior Associate Fellow, and co-host of the CounterPod podcast. His work focuses on Iran, terrorism, proxy warfare, Middle East security and the state-backed threats that blur the boundaries between intelligence activity, organised crime and political violence. Iran's Agile Diplomacy and the Five Files: Iran is "moving the goalposts" by linking the Lebanon ceasefire to maritime negotiations. Success requires progress on five files: the Strait, nuclear program, ballistic missiles, proxies, and human rights. Some Gulf autocracies may prefer a weakened Iran over a successful democratic regime change that could threaten their own prestige. Edmund Fitton Brown (16)1680
The Persistence of Iranian Proxies: Iran has not "turned off" proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas, despite ongoing ceasefire talks. Forecasters say it will remain far from Taiwan and have no direct impact. Closer to home, temperatures are forecast to hit 30 degrees Celsius across Taiwan today, and foehn winds in Taitung could push temperatures above 36 degrees. The hot weather continues through Tuesday, when an arriving weather front will cool northern and central Taiwan. Kuwait Accuses Iran and Proxies of Drone Attacks Kuwait has accused Iran and its proxies of launching drone attacks targeting it on Thursday despite the two-week ceasefire in the Iran war. Saudi Arabia also says recent attacks damaged a key pipeline in the kingdom. The statement from Kuwait's Foreign Ministry about attacks on "vital Kuwaiti facilities" put new pressure on the ceasefire ahead of planned talks Saturday between the United States and Iran in Islamabad. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's state-run Saudi Press Agency, quoting an anonymous official, acknowledged a recent attack in the war that damaged its crucial (至關重要的) East-West pipeline. That pipeline carries oil out to the Red Sea and avoids the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran maintains a chokehold (實體控制) on despite the pause in the fighting. AP correspondent Jennifer King reports. UK Sea Creature Fossil Not Oldest Octopus Scientists have found evidence that a 300-million-year-old sea creature previously thought to be the world's oldest octopus is actually a nautilus (鸚鵡螺) relative. University of Reading zoology lecturer Thomas Clements led the research, which found that the fossil, originally identified in 2000, had too many teeth to be an octopus. The creature, about the size of a human hand, was found in Illinois and had puzzled scientists for years, because it is much older than the next-earliest known octopus. The findings, published this week, mean Guinness World Records will no longer list the specimen (樣本) it as the earliest known octopus. That was the I.C.R.T. Ahmad Sharawi and Bridget Toomey are back with Bill to assess Iran's expanding proxy war — and the growing risk that America is funding forces now targeting its own troops.

Next, Miles covers the CCP's ongoing global influence campaign against western nations on the individual level, and explores how independent proxies can unknowingly further party messaging in key decision-making forums. Finally, Miles discusses the challenges faced by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung since he took office, and the his attempt to delicately balance South Korea's participation in global alliances with domestic disagreements among government officials over policy toward North Korea. Global Ed Leaders | International School Leadership Insights
How do we truly know if someone is a good leader? If your school relies on visible presence, constant busyness, or even a certain "look," you might be measuring the wrong things. In this thought-provoking episode, Shane is joined by experienced educator and leadership development specialist, Chris Baker, to explore the concept of 'poor proxies' for leadership. Inspired by Rob Coe's work on poor proxies for learning, Chris explains how schools often mistake correlated behaviours for the causal impact of effective leadership, potentially undermining leader well-being and organisational success. You'll learn to identify common poor proxies like visibility, busyness, and confidence, and discover a more impactful framework for evaluation centred on two questions: "How does this leader make people feel?" and "What does this leader enable people to do?" Chris provides a practical, immediate action plan, advising you to audit your school's leadership frameworks, recruitment processes, and development programmes for hidden proxies. If you want to move beyond superficial metrics and cultivate leadership that genuinely empowers your team, this conversation is an essential starting point. In this episode of The Andrew Parker Show, Andrew Parker examines the escalating conflict with Iran and the preemptive military action taken by the United States and Israel to stop the Iranian regime's decades-long pursuit of nuclear weapons and regional dominance. For more than 30 years, Iran has advanced its nuclear ambitions while building a powerful ballistic missile program and funding proxy forces across the Middle East. Successive U.S. administrations warned of the threat but ultimately failed to halt Iran's march toward nuclear capability.Andrew breaks down why the current conflict is fundamentally different from past Middle East wars. Rather than creating an endless war, he argues that confronting the Iranian regime now may be the only path to ending decades of instability fueled by Iran and its proxies. He also explores the broader geopolitical consequences, including the impact on Russia's war in Ukraine, Iran's role in supplying drones to Russia, and the implications for China, global energy markets, and American foreign policy.Drawing on his recent visit to Israel, Andrew shares firsthand perspective from communities along the Lebanese border, where Hezbollah's massive rocket arsenal—built in violation of international agreements—continues to threaten Israeli civilians.Could dismantling Iran's military ambitions reshape the Middle East and open the door to lasting peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors? Fitton-Brown explains how the fall of the Iranian regime would devastate its regional proxies, including Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iraqi militias, which depend on IRGC funding and training. IRAN'S QUEST FOR SUPREMACY AND FUTURE NUCLEAR NEGOTIATIONS Colleague Brandon Weichert. Weichert discusses Iran's ultimate goal of regional supremacy, describing the regime as the "octopus brain" directing proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah to attack Israel. He notes that his book anticipated the proxy attacks that occurred on October 7. Looking forward, Weichert analyzes potential US responses, contrasting the flaws of the original JCPOA—specifically its sunset clauses which would have allowed nuclear weapons by 2025—with a potentially tougher stance under a second Trump term. The segment concludes with the grim warning that the regime may choose destruction over abandoning its nuclear ambitions. SHADOW WAR BY BRANDON WEICHERT NUMBER 41960 NASSER IN DAMASCUS
THE OCTOPUS STRATEGY: IRAN'S PROXIES AND ISRAEL'S COUNTERATTACK Colleague Seth Frantzman. The conversation outlines the IDF's counter-strategy, which involved cutting Gaza in half via the Netzarim corridor and systematically clearing areas from north to south.
