Death Troopers is a Star Wars Legends novel from horror author Joe Schreiber, that tells the story of an Imperial prison barge, that breaks down. Its only hope seems to lie with a Star Destroyer found drifting, seemingly abandoned. But when a boarding party is sent to scavenge for parts, only half of them come back, bringing with them a horrific disease so lethal that within hours, nearly all aboard will die in ways too hideous to imagine. Liam and Sanak review the Star Wars horror novel, Death Troopers by Joe Schreiber in this month's episode of Star Wars Legends Book Club.
Joe Schreiber is CEO and founder at AppNovi. Joe and his co-founder Ethan Smart have spent the last 20 years in various cybersecurity roles. They founded AppNovi to solve a gap in the marketplace that they kept running up against as while doing incident response, cybersecurity risk analysis, and threat hunting. I love working with founders who are authentically solving problems that they themselves have experienced as practitioners and Joe is doing exactly that at AppNovi. If you work in cybersecurity or as a part of an IT team this is an episode you won't want to miss.

The model of effective security is often under a permutating name with the same emphasis: ensure the least access necessary. But as technology has evolved, so too have the solutions to manage it. So while security get more achievable, technology – and the ownership over it – has changed. Now too security must change, but utilizing what methods? Zero Trust? Least Privilege Necessary? Positive Security? This episode of Security Rules covers these topics with Joe Schreiber, a veteran of IT security and former SOC leader.
The team introduces a new segment called, Expanded University where they discuss characters and locations from the Legends Timeline. They also review the book Darth Maul Lockdown by Joe Schreiber

Intent-Based Networking is meant to simplify networking – utilize software to plan, design, and implement changes to the network without reliance on human action or intervention. And while the acronym IBN is often utilized in marketing materials, how close are we to achieving the next big thing in network automation? Join Tufin’s Technical Director of Business Development and former SOC lead, Joe Schreiber, to differentiate the hype from the academic definition of IBN. We'll discuss how close we are to achieving IBN and even hear some cautionary tales on adoption based on experiences at automated eateries.

Welcome to episode 66 of Starships, Sabers, and Scoundrels: Execute Episode 66. On this episode, the Scoundrels are celebrating a very special Star Wars Halloween. But, Taxus wants to collect candy. The problem is, he might be a little too old to pass for a kid trick-or-treating. So, he has a unique solution that he claims is fool proof. What could possibly go wrong? Star Wars News While the Scoundrels deal with the issues created by Taxus's Halloween shenanigans, they also deal with some news. StarWars.com and Jon Favreau released new information on The Mandalorian. Star Wars Celebration Chicago tickets are selling fast! Also, there are plenty of publishing announcements from New York Comic Con up for discussion. Maul: Lockdown As is tradition for the Scoundrels on Halloween, they discuss a novel by Joe Schreiber. This year, it is Maul: Lockdown. When Darth Sidious sends Darth Maul undercover to acquire a prison, Maul rises to the challenge. However, this mission takes Maul to an intergalactic prison full of gangs, monsters, and mysteries. In addition, the difficulty of the assignment increases when Sidious forbids Maul from using the Force. Can Maul survive feuding gangsters, gladiatorial combat, prison security, invading cultists, and horrifying monsters and complete his mission? Dennis, Jay, and Darth Taxus dive into Maul: Lockdown and dicsuss Maul's insane mission. Silence Fools Episode 66 concludes with Silence Fools! The Juror #6 Job (or, as I like to call it The Parker Gets Grounded Job) aired February 10, 2009. It was written by Rebecca Kirsch, directed by Jonathan Frakes, and executive produced by Chris Downey and John Rogers. When one of Parker's aliases gets called for jury duty (yes, Hardison is *that* good), Nate and Sophie decide it will force her to think of others as well as herself. But when she notices something suspicious during the trial, the gang finds itself drawn into a new case against a crooked pharmaceutical company. Lisa Lin and Tara Kennedy are back! Luckily they have some legal background and can help me understand some of the confusing jargon. We also shared our thoughts on jury duty in general. Also spoiler for the book Star Wars Death Troopers by Joe Schreiber.
Santa's sleigh is nearly stocked and ready for launch so Chris and Paul sat down to indulge in what was apparently Elvis Presley's favourite horror film, Black Christmas (1974)! And living in a post-The Last Jedi world Paul had to cover what is regarded as one of the best Star Wars horror stories out there, Star Wars: Death Troopers (2009) by Joe Schreiber, now a part of Legends Canon. We also hear from Friend Of The Show Linda Moulton from New York and her experiences in the bible belt of The United States watching last week's film Krampus. ----------- Into The Minds of Madness is a (generally) weekly horror movie podcast hosted by two good pals; the horror aficionado Chris Dicker and the easily terrified Paul McWhirter. Covering the classics, the just released, the oft-forgotten gems and the train wrecks of the genre. From monster flicks to home invasion thrillers, body horror to campy slashers and everything in between. Jump on iTunes and give us a head-spinning 5 stars and write us a review if you so desire! Few first time Star Wars novelists get the promotional push that Joe Schreiber received in 2009 for Deathtroopers. The first unabashed horror story set in the Star Wars universe the combination of zombies and the galaxy far, far away inspired cosplay even before the book hit shelves. While somewhat controversial for its more R rated gore and violence, the book became a fan favorite and just one year later the sequel Red Harvest was released. Now after a four year absence from Star Wars fiction Schreiber is back in bookstores with the new novel Darth Maul: Lockdown. This prequel era tale follows the Sith apprentice on a mission for his master before the events of The Phantom Menace. Lockdown is a departure from the author's previous horror stories but the hard action and flare for visuals remain--as does the promotion. From the graphics flaunting Darth Maul fighting a Yuuzhan Vong to the news that this new story ties in closely with James Luceno's 2012 book Darth Plagueis fan expectations couldn't be higher. In this bonus episode of Star Wars Action News Arnie talks with the author about what he's been working on since 2010, what stories influenced this prison story, and what continuity landmines he had to avoid when setting a story in this era. Listen to get all the behind-the-scenes details of this new book. With Johnathan back hitting the bricks for a special LEGO focused "On the Pegs" segment, this is one podcast you won't want to miss!
