Is Bryce Young officially on the clock in Carolina? ⏱️Welcome back to the channel, Keep Pounding crew! Today we are diving into a massive reality check for the Carolina Panthers as the 2026 offseason heats up. We are hitting you with five massive storylines that prove Dan Morgan and Dave Canales are playing chess, not checkers, when it comes to the future of this franchise.First up, the national media is already looking past Bryce Young. We break down a shocking 2027 NFL Mock Draft that has the Panthers selecting South Carolina dual-threat powerhouse LaNorris Sellers at No. 11 overall. At 6'3” and 240 pounds, Sellers gives off major prime Cam Newton vibes. If Bryce doesn't deliver this season, could the Gamecocks star be the next QB1 in Charlotte?
1. NFC West-How much confidence (if any) does the Cardinals selection of Chase Bisontis give you in Jeremiyah Love's chances of NOT having the same kind of rookie campaign that Ashton Jeanty had last season?-Would you be surprised if Carson Beck does NOT start five-plus games this year?-Do you see De'Zhaun Stribling as a long-term upgrade over Jauan Jennings?-Is it fair to expect a quantum leap forward for the 49ers pass rush this season?-Aside from the commonly used reasoning of Matthew Stafford is 38 and the Rams aren't likely to be picking in the top-15 any time soon, can you find another reason to justify L.A.'s selection of Ty Simpson more than a month after the fact?-Why do you think the NFL, and the Seahawks in particular, were far more bullish on Jadarian Price than any of the non-Jeremiyah Love RB's in this class? -Can you see Bud Clark and/or Julian Neal playing starter-level snaps this season?-Do you think Beau Stephens has a chance to give Anthony Bradford a serious challenge for that starting RG spot?2. NFC East-Why do you think the Giants preferred Arvell Reese over Sonny Styles? -Is Francis Mauigoa's best long-term NFL homer at tackle or guard?-Would you consider it a failure if the Commanders defense is not a top-half of the league unit or better in 2026?-Do you see Antonio Williams emerging as that second target behind Terry McLaurin in the passing game at some point this season?-Is Caleb Downs the exact kind of leader the Cowboys defense so desperately needed?-How much do Malachi Lawrence and Jaishawn Barham improve Dallas's pass rush from Day 1?-Would it be better for the Eagles if they start to envision Eli Stowers as a WR as opposed to a TE? -Even with Jeff Stoutland no longer in the building, do you think Markel Bell has an outside chance to emerge as the long-term successor to Lane Johnson at RT?3. NFC South-Just how good have the Saints set the table for Tyler Shough to have a breakout sophomore campaign?-Do you see Christen Miller developing into a three-down player?-In your view, does Avieon Terrell project as a slot-only corner at the NFL level, or can he play his fair share of snaps on the boundary as well?-Are you a fan of Rueben Bain, Jr.'s fit in Todd Bowles defense?-Why do you think Keionte Scott fell as far as he did and what role can you see him playing in the Bucs secondary outside of nickel corner?-Does the Panthers selection of Monroe Freeling suggest to you that they're not counting on Ickey Ekwonu to ever be the same again after his torn patellar tendon?-With Lee Hunter now joining Derrick Brown to man the interior of Carolina's DL, can you see the Panthers being a notoriously tough unit for opposing offenses to run the ball against this season and beyond?-Which of the Panthers two 5th-round picks do you think is more likely to turn out to be a massive bargain: Sam Hecht or Zakee Wheatley?4. NFC North-While you had some qualms about Blake Miller during the pre-draft process, do you think the Lions are a team that best fit his strengths?-Why do you think the Lions preferred Derrick Moore over similar prospects like Gabe Jacas and Zion Young to be the bookend to Aidan Hutchinson?-For reasons aside from his foot issues, just how low is Caleb Banks' downside? -Can you see Jake Golday eventually playing himself into that Andrew Van Ginkel role in Brian Flores' defense?-Which one of Brandon Cisse and Chris McClellan do you think is more likely to earn a second contract with the Packers?-Is it fair for Bears fans to expect Dillon Thieneman and Coby Bryant to solidify themselves as one of the NFL's top-10 safety duos this season?-Would you expect Logan Jones to overtake Garrett Bradbury as the Bears starting center by mid-October, if not earlier?-Which of Sam Roush or Malik Muhammad do you think makes the bigger impact for the Bears in Year 1?
In Hour 2 of the show, Jonas Knox turns his attention to the Eastern Conference Finals with the Knicks on the verge of sweeping the Cavs and claims that apparently everyone is a Knicks fan. The Carolina Panthers are building a WALL in the trenches! In today's episode of Carolina Dad Sports Talk, we break down a massive Day 2 for Dan Morgan and Dave Canales. We dive deep into the selection of Texas Tech DT Lee "The Fridge" Hunter—pairing him with Derrick Brown to create a nightmare for opposing interior lines. Plus, we analyze the 3rd-round grab of Tennessee speedster Chris Brazzell II. Does he give Bryce Young the vertical threat this offense has been missing? We're talking roster fits, draft grades, and how these moves align with the "success strategy" for the 2026 season. If you love Panthers football and trench warfare, this is the recap for you!
The 2026 NFL Draft Round One is in the books and the Alabama Crimson Tide has extended an impressive streak. The Miami Dolphins selected Alabama offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor with pick 12 extending an Alabama Football streak of first round selections to 18 consecutive years and the streak of multiple first round selections to ten consecutive years. That second streak continued because the Los Angeles Rams selected Alabama Football QB Ty Simpson with pick 13, a surprise to many that Simpson went that high. Simpson had been a large focus of the night as the presumed second QB off the board but many analysts thought he'd go lower than 13. The Auburn Tigers are back in the first round. Edge Keldric Faulk was picked by the Tennessee Titans who traded back into the first round to select the Auburn Football pass rusher. Faulk is Auburn's first first round pick since Derrick Brown was selected by the Carolina Panthers in 2020. PLUS, Tyler's Viewing Menu presented by Michelson Laser Vision! The Carolina Panthers just shocked the NFL, and Gerrell Wheeler is here to break it all down after a massive 31–28 win over the 9–2 Los Angeles Rams. In one of the most complete performances of the season, the Panthers delivered on both sides of the ball—Bryce Young tossed three touchdowns, the run game found balance with Chuba Hubbard and Rico Dowdle combining for strong production, Jalen Coker had his best game of the year, and the defense came up huge with a Mike Jackson pick-six and key turnovers from Derrick Brown and Nick Scott. Gerrell talks energy, execution, and why this felt like the team Carolina believed they could be back in Week 1.Now sitting at 7–6 heading into the bye, Gerrell asks the big question: Who are the Panthers really? One week they're unstoppable, the next week inconsistent—but with the NFC South wide open and four games left (Saints, Bucs, Seahawks, Bucs), a playoff push is absolutely on the table. Gerrell lays out the path, the mindset, and why maintaining offensive balance is the key to finishing strong. If Carolina keeps this momentum, we may just be talking about a 10-win season and a postseason return no one expected. It's up for the city—believe that.
