"I think the Scottish accent's been voted one of the sexiest, but it's also, some of them, one of the most disgusting" - CraigThis bonus episode was a hilarious trip down memory lane. Craig and I just let loose with our Scottish accents, sharing stories about growing up in Glasgow that we've never really talked about on the main show. The cultural differences, the misunderstandings with Americans, and the unique character of Glasgow compared to the rest of Scotland - it all came pouring out in our natural voices. I think listeners will get a real kick out of hearing us in our element, not holding back on the Scottish slang and experiences that shaped us before we moved abroad. It's raw, it's authentic, and it's Glasgow through and through. What's fascinating is how our identities are still so tied to Scotland even though we've both been away for decades. The way we slip in and out of our accents, the experiences that only make sense to other Scots - it's like carrying a piece of home with you that never quite fades, even when you have no plans to move back. This episode really captures that weird space of being proudly Scottish while also acknowledging why we chose to build our lives elsewhere.Key Takeaways: - The difficulties of being understood with a Scottish accent in America and how Niall had to adapt his speech to be understood- How Americans have particular difficulty understanding Scottish accents, especially with words like "bottle of water" - Discussion of Scottish comedy (Kevin Bridges, Still Game) and how specific cultural references don't translat"Send me a message!"7 Bridges Brewing Co. - An award winning Vietnamese craft brewery from Da Nang, with breweries across Vietnam!Rabbit Hole Irish Sports Bar - Check out their new location on Tran Nao with the best views in the city over Landmark 81! How does your childhood shape you as an adult and impact your career choices? That's the theme of a new GoLoud podcast hosted by comedians Karl Spain and Tony Kelly, and its also what we chat about on this episode of The Mario Rosenstock Podcast. You might remember Tony from previous episodes of this podcast – he's the Waterford man that dreamt of making a movie and after a lot of hard work, grit and determination, release a feature film called The Hurler, which has been in cinemas nationwide and also features on Amazon Prime!Karl Spain of course is one of Ireland's best-known comedians, but maybe what you're not so familiar with is his very successful career as a writer for other comedians – he has crafted gags for performers like Kevin Bridges and Al Porter and many others.I was one of the first guests on their new podcast and just after we recorded that, I turned the tables on them, and learnt about the childhood experiences that shaped them and led them to become comedians.COMEDY – It has been a tough week for Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy, who now may face a vote of confidence in the Dail. And it turns out there are a few well-known people waiting in the long grass in case she doesn't – and they've been leaving messages on the Mario Rosenstock Podcast hotline outlining their suitability for the role.Produced by Patrick Haughey of AudioBrand

Welcome back to another episode of Fratello On Air! This week, we discuss a popular request from our listeners about traveling with watches. We've discussed this topic before, but it's been a while since we last did so. For our listeners, we begin the watch content after 32 minutes. Traveling with watches is a typical topic on forums and boards. Some may think it's a tired subject, but with new collectors always entering the fray, the theme deserves more attention. Plus, with new schemes arising to defraud watch wearers, it is constantly on some folks' minds.HandgelenkskontrolleTo kick off this episode, we have a lengthy chat about Burns Night, television, movies, and shoes. Balazs mentions one of his favorite Scottish comedians, Kevin Bridges. We've been watching or awaiting titles such as The Night Agent, Nosferatu, Cross, Shining Girls, Paradise, Landman, and a documentary on Kimbo Slice on the VICE channel. Regarding shoes, the latest Nike Air Tech Challenge 2 retro tennis shoes worn by Andre Agassi are about to launch. We discuss the anniversary of Kobe Bryant's tragic death and mention the upcoming Nike Kobe V Protro "Year of the Mamba" shoes. For the Handglenkskontrolle, Mike is wearing his newly repaired Movado Curviplan with a black dial and an 18K gold case. Balazs is sporting a new release, the Nivada Grenchen Antarctic Diver in green. The piece is limited to 75 pieces with a date and the same number without the function for €956. Expect a review soon!Traveling with watchesSeveral people in our Discord group have asked about traveling with watches. It seems that the new year will bring heavy travel, and with watch friends all over the world, it's fun to bring a few watches to show and tell. However, is this the best idea? We discuss the pitfalls of packing precious timepieces for the trip. Safety, forgetfulness, how to pack, and more enter into the discussion. We hope you enjoy the episode and thanks again to our community for the topic suggestion! If you have ideas for future shows, please feel free to let us know!

Being neither the tallest nor the most capable of playing football or fight, Stephen morphed into the funniest guy in the playground to survive.Your hosts also asks Stephen about his daft, beta-male stage persona and why he does not go down the incel-pleasing trope of opinionated comedy style.---------------------------------Follow Stephen on Instagram. or TwitterStephen is a third of Some Laugh Podcast with fellow Scottish comedians Marc Jennings and Stuart McPhersonFollow your host Kuan-wen on Instagram and Twitter----------------------------------If you like the episode, please share it and leave a review. For any comments or suggestions, please contact us on Instagram or email comedywithanaccent@gmail.com----------------------------------Episode timeline00:49 Intro03:40 A viral clip that makes Stephen “The WHSmith Guy”06:40 Only having an accent when gigging in London08:11 Adjusting the accent level depending on the person you talk to10:03 Did Stephen have his podcast parters think about their accents when recording?11:57 BBC World Service producer changing Stephen's references for American listeners - a “Bin” (Trash can)15:32 Changing the way he speaks performing outside Scotland18:37 Changing a working class accent for London centric Upper class audience21:49 Why has Glasgow nurtured so many great comedians?24:52 The Scottish mentality - The Tall Poppy Syndrome27:38 Stephen's akin to Charlie in Always Sunny In Philadelphia31:50 Joking about his own height on his terms34:00 Silly mundane stuffs rather than opinionated comedy38:21 Jokes made funnier because of the accent or only funny because of the accent?41:12 Glaswegian accent voted the 3rd sexiest accent in the UK44:15 Comedians free to swear when performing in Glasgow46:24 Some (obligatory) bagpipe music47:19 Stephen's social media---------------------------------Podcast intro music by @Taigenkawabe

THE BLACK DOG is the exciting debut novel from one of Britain's most-loved comedians, Kevin Bridges Declan dreams of becoming a writer. It's a dream that helps him escape the realities of his life - going through the motions at college and stacking supermarket shelves part-time, whilst fighting a battle with the ever-darkening thoughts in his head. He has his pet Labrador for companionship and his best friend-turned-mentor, a pseudo-intellectual who works as a greenskeeper at the local municipal golf course, both of which help keep the worst of his anxieties at bay. But following a drunken row with local gangsters, Declan's worries threaten to spiral out of control. James Cavani - Declan's idol and his hometown's claim to fame - is a renowned writer, director and actor. But despite his success, his past hasn't relinquished its hold of him, and through his younger sister's battle with drug addiction, he finds himself returning to a world he thought he had escaped. At face value, their lives couldn't be more different, but perhaps fate has a way of bringing kindred spirits together - and perhaps each holds the other's redemption in their hands.

Welcome to Episode 37 of Glory Days of Gold. Recorded across two continents, Glory Days of Gold brings you a regular dose of East Fife FC and Scottish football chat, with a splattering of interesting interviews, fun segments, and music thrown in along the way. We're back, and so is League 1 football in Scotland by the looks of it, so to celebrate we thought we'd bring you this week's episode a little bit earlier than usual as we chat about when we might see East Fife back in action and what the remainder of the season may look like. Our feature interview this episode is with a father and son duo who both pulled on the famous black and gold jerseys, Peter and Paul McQuade. Peter played for the club in the late 60s and early 70s, winning promotion with the team and was part of the last ever era where East Fife played in the top flight of Scottish football. We chat about those heady times, his career in the game, and hear some great stories along the way from the infamous stolen televisions to turning out in front of tens of thousands at the likes of Ibrox and Parkhead, and is he really Kevin Bridges' dad?! Paul played one season for East Fife in 2011 and talks about following in his father's footsteps to join the club, his career as a footballer, and the injuries that sadly forced him to hang up the boots at an early age. Plus we find out how his debut at Bayview was thrown into confusion by a late showing manager and we hear some fun dressing room tales. All of that, plus Billy Bragg features in this week's Wavelength. Here's the rundown for the main segments from the episode: 00.04: League 1 football is coming back 15.44: Peter and Paul McQuade interview 145.59: Wavelength - Billy Bragg - God's Football

"When you do your first big punchline, and you have a crowd whiplashing and applauding...something happens to you. It's an out of body experience. That particular skillset is a good gift to give back to the world" Ben is the Founder & CEO of Quinlan & Associates, an independent strategy consulting firm, specialising in the financial services industry. He set up the firm back in 2016 having paid his dues in the Investment Banking world at UBS and Deutsche Bank, and in the Management Consulting world with Oliver Wyman. You’ll often see Ben quoted for his market views on Bloomberg, CNBC, and Reuters. Ben is also heavily involved in the rapidly growing Fintech scene here in Asia and just a few days prior to recording this he was elected as the new Chairman of the Fintech Association of Hong Kong. The secret sauce that makes Ben unique is that come Friday night he leaves the boardroom, swaps his suit and tie for a t-shirt and jeans, and performs on stage as a Stand-up Comedian. He is a regular headliner at Comedy Clubs all across Asia, won the 2017 Hong Kong International Comedy Festival and has opened for a number of big international comedians on their Asian tours, including Russell Howard, Kevin Bridges and Tom Segura. One of my favourite sayings is that clarity of speech, reflects clarity of thought, and in that regard, this episode is an absolute masterclass. We touch on many topics including:Ben's philosophy on leadership and building successful teams The importance of doing what you loveThe sacrifices involved in running your own business His worst ‘bomb’ on stage as a comedian How humour gives him an advantage in the workplace How watching his father live out his dream was the best lesson he ever got in what it means to live a successful life.Links:Benjamin Quinlan on LinkedInQuinlan & Associates Comedian & Speaker ProfileTEDx - Creativity at your feetTEDx - Supercharged FearHome of the Podcast: www.michaelxcampion.com IG: @playingtheinnergame@michaelxcampionJoin the weekly newsletter www.michaelxcampion.com/subscribeOther mentions:Eckhart Tolle - The Power of Now

Did you know Henrik Larsson performed medical miracles that night as well as score two fantastic goals? Listen up for his bittersweet experience of seeing his team, Celtic, lose in extra-time to Jose Mourinho's Porto.Terry Butcher takes us back to Ipswich's 1981 UEFA Cup final win over AZ Alkmaar - a bonkers two-legged affair in which Bobby Robson's side eventually won 5-4.Fast forward exactly 20 years and another English side picked up the UEFA Cup with exactly the same scoreline, albeit over a one-legged extra-time match which was eventually settled by a golden goal. Gary McAllister tells the tale of Liverpool's epic 5-4 win over Alaves from his perspective, while Jamie Carragher describes the exhausted exhilaration he felt on that famous night.Ander Herrera then talks us his through his man-of-the-match winning performance in Manchester United's victory over Ajax in 2017's Europa League final, before we hear from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink on Middlesbrough's swashbuckling run to the 2006 final.Enjoy See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

On today’s Totally Football Show, AC Jimbo is joined by Michael Cox, Leroy Rosenior and comedian Matt Forde to look back on what could prove to be a pivotal weekend in the Premier League. Arsenal’s 5-2 demolition of Everton turned out to be the final straw as the Toffees finally dispensed with the services of Ronald Koeman. Elsewhere, Dejan Lovren and Victor Lindelof put on two of the worst defensive displays, like, *ever* as Tottenham hammered Liverpool 4-1 and Huddersfield shocked Manchester United. Gary also provides his memories of playing in the UEFA Cup - some of which are a little racy - alongside Kevin Bridges and Terry Butcher. Finally, the Champions League brought despair and regret for Darren Fletcher and Joe Jordan and they share those feelings in this podcast. We also hear from two men for whom that competition brought pride and glory - Graeme Souness and Paul Clement. Enjoy! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Pretty much every single footballer we spoke to during the first season of these podcasts had at least one incredible story about a manager they had played under. In this podcast you'll meet motivators, bullies, innovators and comedians. Sometimes, that's just one guy we're talking about. We're going to start and finish with two people who played under Jose Mourinho – although it is fair to say that Damien Duff and Kevin Bridges don't have too much else in common on the footballing front. In between those two, Chris Waddle tells us what he now sees as the method behind the bullying of Arthur Cox at Newcastle United. Gary McAllister then tells us how Howard Wilkinson transformed Leeds United from a Second Division team into a side capable of winning the English Championship. Joe Jordan shows us the revolutionary preparations undertaken by Don Revie; Peter Beardsley rooms with his Fulham manager Kevin Keegan, in a flat above the... Hello and welcome back to The Comedy Cast; today you’ll be hearing from Scottish stand-up comedian Rosco McClelland. Rosco's from Scotland but he'd just been touring with some Irish comedians in Australia so we got talking about some of the new Irish slang he'd learned from them. We both then profess our undying and unwavering love for American pop/punk masters Weezer, really I love that band and I won't have a bad word said against them. It seems to me that Scottish comedy is going through a revival, more successful comedians are coming out of Scotland and there are more and more comedy nights all over the country now so I ask Rosco if can he explain this revival and the purple patch Scottish comedy seems to be going through. Search for Rosco on Youtube and you'll get a ton of rap battles; so I ask him about hip-hop and we talk about him having been a drummer in a punk band before comedy. We speak about how and why Rosco got into comedy, and he tells a great story of trying out his first joke on none other than Kevin Bridges. This doesn't come up very often but Rosco has an alter-ego character he sometimes gigs as; Rosco McSkeleton, so we had to chat about that, I wanted to dig into the subject and get to know more about the character and why more comedians don't try playing roles on stage. Rosco won Scottish Comedy of the Year in 2016, so we speak about the competition and what it's lead on to since winning. And finally then we chat about Rosco's comedic influences and the comedy shows he used to watch on tele growing up.

This collection is dedicated to the moments when we got to talk about one of the all-time greats, sometimes with someone who had a unique angle from which to examine those special talents. Graeme Souness and Peter Beardsley talk about Lionel Messi, as does Gary Neville - a man whose job it is to find new ways to describe what it is that this genius does. Paul Clement worked closely with Cristiano Ronaldo at Real Madrid and provides an insight into the work ethic of the Portuguese, while Harry Redknapp recalls how Gareth Bale was transformed into an international superstar. As a born-and-bred Aberdonian, Sir Alex Ferguson had a huge influence on my life. He revolutionised my hometown team in the 1980s through strategic management and sheer force of will. He made things seem possible. And it would be impossible to do a football podcast without talking about the legendary Scot. The contributions from Jamie Carragher and Kevin Bridges reveal a different side of Fergie: his forensic memory, his humour, his deep love of the beautiful game. David Moyes and Gordon Strachan give an insight into the force of nature which was Ferguson in his younger days. To Strachan, the former Manchester United manager remains the best sports psychologist in the world. Then, Darren Fletcher' s testimony takes us into the dressing room on a matchday. If you want to know what a Fergie teamtalk is like, listen to the end. Enjoy! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
