Of Course You Realize THIS Means Podcast - A Looney Tunes Discussion

Hello Folks! Welcome to your best source of news surrounding the beloved Looney Tunes! For this episode, I'm joined by Long Time Looney Tunes' Fan, Comedian and Rotten Tomatoes Correspondent, Mark Ellis to discuss the latest happenings over at Warner Bros/Discovery and break down the storytelling convention of Breaking the 4th Wall in film, Tv and Podcasting?!   We start off with the news that broke via TvLine.com!   The following projects are NOW in need of being purchased to stream and my bet is on Hulu.   Batman: Caped Crusader is an animated reimagining of the Batman mythology by way of Batman: The Animated Series‘ own Bruce Timm, with J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves and Ed Brubaker also serving as EPs. Reeves of course directed The Batman, the big screen's most recent live-action take on the Dark Knight (now played by Robert Pattinson), while Abrams — in addition to of course numerous Star Trek and Star Wars projects, plus TV's Lost and Alias — is an EP on HBO Max's still-in-development Justice League Dark series.   MERRY LITTLE BATMAN In this animated family action comedy, when a six-year-old Damian Wayne finds himself alone in Wayne Manor, he must transform into “Little Batman” in order to defend his home and Gotham City from the crooks and super-villains intent on destroying Christmas.  Mike Roth executive-produces and directs, from a screenplay by Morgan Evans.     THE DAY THE EARTH BLEW UP In this animated movie penned by Kevin Costello, odd couple Porky and Daffy become unlikely heroes when their antics at a local bubble gum factory uncover a secret alien mind-control plot. Against all odds, the two grow determined to save their town — and the world. Pete Browngardt serves as executive producer.   - Writer Kevin Costello recently took to Twitter to tell fans that the film is coming together nicely and that it lives up to the brand as only a Daffy and Porky film can!   BYE BYE BUNNY The first-ever Looney Tunes Original animated movie musical boasts a screenplay and lyrics by Emmy Award winner Ariel Dumas, a head writer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (and a huge Looney Tunes fan). The premise: After starring in a long-running Looney Tunes Broadway production, an exhausted Bugs Bunny decides it's time to trade in sold-out shows for life as a regular rabbit. That opens the door for the attention-craving Daffy Duck to bid for the lead role  — until he is kidnapped by an obsessive fan who has sinister plans for her favorite stage duck.   THE AMAZING WORLD OF GUMBALL: THE MOVIE Series creator Ben Bocquelet is directing and executive-producing this movie, which features a script written by Shane Mack and is designed to serve as a bridge between the original cult animated fantasy series (which ran six seasons on Cartoon Network, from 2011-2019) and the new one, which is titled The Amazing World of Gumball: The Series (and is also still happening). The yet-to-be titled movie begins when Gumball's biggest fan finds the series' “missing episode” and accidentally opens a portal connecting his world to Gumball's cartoon world. Sam Register, Vanessa Brookman and Sarah Fell will also serve as executive producers on the first original production to be ordered from Register and Brookman's Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe.   Did I Do That To the Holidays: A Steve Urkel Story This animated musical holiday special, written and executive-produced by Wyatt Cenec, and announced in September 2021, finds Jaleel White reprising his legendary nerd character for only the second time since Family Matters ended in 1998. FILMS Discussed: "Annie Hall" “American Psycho” “Fight Club” "Monty Python" “Spaceballs" "Wayne's World" “Ferris Bueller's Day Off” “High Fidelity” “Amélie” "Fleabag" "She-Hulk"   Looney Tunes Shorts Discussed: Duck Amuck - (1953) Rabbits Rampage - (1955) Hare Raising Hare - (1946) The Scarlett Pumpernickel (1950) (You can find these shorts on HBOMax... for now)   A Meta Compilation of Moments that show off some of the best moments of 4th Wall Breaks in Looney Tunes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJKif9d4cg4   What's your favorite scene where a character broke the 4th wall? Kevin Costello is the President of the Steuben County Conference and Visitors Bureau, the official tourism promotion agency for Steuben County, NY. Kevin manages a team of five tourism professionals who tell the destination’s story with a strategic and research-based approach to increase accommodation occupancy and tourism expenditures within Steuben. In his previous position, Kevin served as Director of Economic Development and Tourism for the Town of Abingdon, Virginia. Kevin has developed several award-winning programs such as the Wine Trail of Botetourt County, the Upper James River Water Trail, the Abingdon Music Experience, and Rooted in Appalachia. Under Kevin’s leadership, the Abingdon Convention and Visitors Bureau was awarded Tourism Office of the Year by the Southeast Tourism Society in 2014. On this episode of Destination on the Left, I talk with Kevin about how creativity drives tourism marketing and how being a better collaborator increases your destination’s chances of success. What You Will Learn in This Episode: Kevin’s hospitality journey and how he fell in love with working in tourism How Kevin has invested his creativity to generate unique projects for his various destinations The process of building and troubleshooting a tourist destination and how to properly market for it The challenges of running a visitors bureau and how Kevin has creatively overcome obstacles How collaborations have helped Kevin’s projects come to fruition Tips for finding mutual assets and best practices for being a better collaborator Evolutions Kevin has observed in destination marketing, what his company is doing, and how he thinks the field will continue to change Creativity in Tourism Marketing Kevin Costello is the current President of the Steuben County Conference and Visitors Bureau. Kevin got his start in tourism marketing working at Montauk Point, Long Island, before earning a degree in travel management from Rochester Institute of Technology. He gained experience at resorts in Florida before pursuing his master’s degree in tourism management from the University of Tennessee. Throughout his career, Kevin has occupied tourism positions in unique places, such as Danville, Virginia (AKA the last capital of the Confederacy); Margarita Island in Venezuela (sounds like torture, right?); Disney World; and the Finger Lakes region of New York. Running through it all was Kevin’s creativity, the engine that drove him to start rural Botetourt County’s tourism industry from scratch, create a winery tour, and put together the Upper James River Water Trail. Since working for Steuben County, Kevin has learned the importance of navigating government bureaucracy, mastering tourism fundamentals, and using all available channels to reach tourist audiences. He draws on experiences overhauling Abingdon’s tourism industry by marketing the Creeper Trail without upsetting town traditionalists who loved its main attraction, the Barter Theater. Co-opetition and Creativity Despite his successes, Kevin acknowledges the X factor I always come back to: collaboration, or “co-opetition.” To assemble his upcoming project for the Finger Lakes area, a trail that involves over 200 agrotourism attractions, Kevin is collaborating with professionals in a variety of agricultural industries, including alpaca and cheese. Another collaborative project of Kevin’s, Rooted in Appalachia, saw collaboration with local nonprofits to increase sustainability for local farms. Using farmer’s markets, restaurant tours, websites, and more, Kevin’s team helped to push the farm-to-table philosophy to tourists and supported two different counties of 25 farms. In addition, Kevin’s team assembled a group of chefs to compete in the Cast Iron Cookoff in West Virginia and promote the area. As Kevin demonstrates, tourism marketing is equal parts hard work and fun reward! To be a good collaborator, Kevin stresses how vital communication, brainstorming, commonality, and responsibility are for successful partnerships in the tourism industry. Don’t be afraid to shoulder a heavier or lighter load if your partners have different assets than you do. As long as you continue to pull your weight, invest your creativity, and have a little fun, tourism marketing partnerships will be one of the best decisions you make. Director Dave McCary and screenwriter Kevin Costello join the podcast to discuss the journey each of them took to get that deal. From stupid YouTube sketches with their comedy group Good Neighbor to Saturday Night Live Digital Shorts and now full-length features, their process is a great model for collaborative filmmaking. Through a lethal combination of non-linear storytelling, gender reversals, and Deliverance type thrills, director Damien Power successfully toys with audience expectations all the way throughout his debut feature, Killing Ground, which we might add took 11 years to make. We discussed how Australia's film scene helps to foster artists who take greater risks, the lengths Power went to to get his film made, and the strategies he put in place to create the script for Sundance's most mind-bending horror film.

The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview SNL writer/actor Kyle Mooney & SNL writer/director Dave McCary. BRIGSBY BEAR is one of the most honest, sincere, non-cynical & infectiously cool movies you'll see in a long time. Co-written and starring Saturday Night Live's Kyle Mooney and directed by SNL's Dave McCary (who met in 4th Grade and have been working together ever since - co-writer Kevin Costello came much later…in the 7th Grade).  Dave and Kyle went on to co-found the Good Neighbor Comedy sketch group (which included Beck Bennett & Nick Rutherford – both in Brigsby), and now are both on SNL (as well as Beck).  Produced by 3311 Productions, YL Pictures, Lord Miller and The Lonely Island, BRIGSBY BEAR will open in the US on July 28.   Starring Kyle Mooney, Claire Danes, Mark Hamill, Greg Kinnear, Andy Samberg, Matt Walsh, Michaela Watkins, Jane Adams, Beck Bennett, Alexa Demie, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Kate Lyn Sheil & Ryan Simpkins.   “BRIGSBY BEAR is a film about friendship, family and nostalgia,” Kyle Mooney. It is also about a man-sized teddy bear who repeatedly saves the galaxy with his twin-sister sidekicks. And, super heroes, goodness, fantasy, pop-culture, imagination, dreams, fandom, creativity....
