Doug and Todd Talk About Stuff~! We're technically calling it a "Pass Week" as we take a slight break this week to get ahead of schedule -- but Doug and I wanted to at least give you something to listen to while you patiently anticipate next week's episode. So here's Todd and Doug talking about Daredevil, Damian Wayne, and why the people in line at the DMV just come in expecting to be abused. But they weren't. The people behind the glass were very nice to everyone.
Mainstream superhero comics have been a boys' club since their invention, and while things have gotten better in recent years, it is telling how few Batman comics have women writers, outside the works of Devin Grayson and Mariko Tamaki. For the last week of March, of Women's History Month, we're reading three stories by other women who have written Bat titles. We have a fun and completely insane three issue arc of 90s Detective Comics from Louise Simonson, the first arc of Gail Simone's run on Birds of Prey, and a single issue of Gotham Academy that brings Damian Wayne to the school co-written by Becky Cloonan (who will be back in next week's episode for her art). Control Freak (Detective Comics V.1 #635-637) Of Like Minds (Birds of Prey V.1 #56-59) Curse of the Inishtree Quill (Gotham Academy #7) Check out our current ranking list at www.comicsxf.com/batchat-rankings/ Thanks to Geri Nonnewitz for our podcast logo Follow the show on Twitter @BatChatComics and support the show on Patreon at www.patreon.com/batchatwithmattandwill

Jingle bells, Little Batman smells... Directed by Mike Roth, Merry Little Batman is the animated superhero film based on DC Comics featuring the characters Batman and his son Damian Wayne. Luke and Jae get their comic book Christmas on as they check out this new Amazon Original movie. This Christmas, Damian Wayne (Yonas Kibreab) wants to be a superhero like his dad - the one and only Batman (Luke Wilson). When Damian is left home alone while Batman takes on Gotham's worst supervillains on Christmas Eve, he stumbles upon a villainous plot to steal Christmas and leaps at the chance to save the day.
It's Christmas Eve at Wayne Manor, and little Damian Wayne is home alone. WHAT COULD GO WRONG? Well, this animated caper suggests quite a lot might happen, and our young hero is going to have to extend every bit of his efforts to saving Christmas for the whole of Gotham. It's a madcap adventure, and joining your host, Helen O'Hara (@HelenLOHara) in the studio to talk about it is film journalist and host of the Empire Podcast, Chris Hewitt (@ChrisHewitt). Will Damian be the hero Gotham needs? Find out on Prime Video now. If you want to read or hear more from Helen, you can order her book "Women Vs Hollywood: The Fall and Rise of Women in Film" which is out now in The UK and comes out on 16th December in the USA and Canada. Damian Wayne, at his most adorable ever, tries to save Christmas from a classic rouges gallery of Batman villains in order to prove to his father that he's ready for superhero work. Though aimed at kids and with a definite Saturday morning cartoon tone, this Batman super fan found plenty to enjoy and was left wanting more after a ridiculously fun reference-filled holiday romp.Follow & SubscribeAaronTwitterFacebookLetterboxdPatrickTwitterAn Original Series Podcast TwitterFeelin' FilmFacebookTwitterWebsiteLetterboxdYouTubeEmail feelinfilm@gmail.comFeelin' Film on Apple PodcastsFeelin' Film on SpotifyFeelin' Film on RepodFeelin' Film on StitcherFeelin' Film on PodchaserNow Playing NetworkJoin the Facebook Discussion GroupJoin the DiscordMusic: Upbeat Party - Scott Holmes MusicRate/Review us on iTunes and on your podcast app of choice! It is a pleasure to welcome Blake's Buzz founder, Blake Morgan, to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast. Blake owns and produces Blake's Buzz, a review outlet, podcast, and YouTube channel. For the last two years, he's been covering indie comics and interviewing their creators. Recently, he began working in comic book PR and marketing and helped numerous creators find their audience. Blake is taking on new clients and being the publicist for Invader Comics and Wolven Press. He is also the Marketing Manager at Metal Ninja Studios, a RINGO-nominated production company. I was thrilled to meet with Blake in the VIP line at Planet Comicon 2023. We had lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry, and I truly enjoyed speaking with him about life in Kansas City and our love of comics. In this edition of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Blake Morgan spoke about developing his brand and his conversations with iconic comic book creators David Mack (Daredevil interior artwork), Patrick Gleason (Batman & Robin, Green Lantern Corps, and The Amazing Spider-Man artist), and Paul Cornell (Action Comics, Captain Britain & MI: 13, Demon Knights, Doctor Who, and Wolverine writer).

The latest DC Comics event is here - Lazarus Planet! Spearheaded by Mark Waid and Gene Luen Yang and carried forth by writers like Nicole Maines and Leah Williams, the crossover radically alters DC's science-based and magic-based heroes. Chaos rains, and chaos reigns. Heroes transformed. Secrets revealed. Powers unleashed. As seen in Batman vs. Robin #4, Lazarus Island has exploded. Dangerous, magical chemicals spread across the globe, catastrophically changing the atmosphere and the heroes who fight below it. The DC Comics Universe will never be the same again. And you will absolutely become a fan of Monkey Prince, Dreamer, and Power Girl if you're not already. On this week's episode, we're extremely excited (and we do mean extremely) to have Mark Waid back on the show, this time talking about our favorite father/son caped crusaders, Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne. We break down where various DC characters fall on the magic/science spectrum and where Mark Waid falls too. We're also thrilled to have Nicole Maines and Leah Williams on the podcast, discussing their contributions to the Lazarus Planet: Assualt on Krypton one-shot. The book establishes a new world order for their characters, Dreamer and Power Girl. Folks who will become increasingly essential in the wake of the Lazarus Island eruption. Maines and Williams also consider their relationship with science and magic and how it informs their roles as creators. Maines obviously has a unique bond with Dreamer, having performed as her on the CW's Supergirl. We chat about that responsibility and why it's important for her to be the character's caretaker in the comics. Lazarus Planet: Assault on Krypton is Leah Williams' introduction to DC Comics work. She's positively giddy about pushing Power Girl through the wringer in the upcoming issues of Action Comics, and she assures us that the Kryptonian's journey begins right here with the Lazarus Island fallout. The changes experienced in the one-shot forever mutate our understanding of Power Girl; she's not just a fringe universe Supergirl. Both Lazarus Planet: Alpha and Lazarus Planet: Assault on Krypton are currently available wherever fine comics are sold. Make sure to follow Mark Waid on Twitter and through his Website. This episode was recorded at New York Comic Con on October 7, 2022. The cast and crew of the new DC Universe Warner Bros. Animation film “Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons” is released on Digital and Blu Ray on October 18th. Appearing on this episode are Jack Dylan Glazer (Shazam!), voice of Jonathan Kent, Jack Griffo (The Thundermans), voice of Damian Wayne, Travis Willingham, voice of Superman/Clark Kent, his real-life wife Laura Bailey, voice of Lois Lane, as well as Rick Morales, supervising producer, and Matt Peters (Justice League Dark: Apokolips War), director of the film. Jeremy Adams wrote the film and appeared on last week's Episode 304 which focused on Jonathan Kent's role in the mainstream Superman mythos. Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons begins as 11-year-old Jonathan Kent discovers he has superpowers, thrusting the half-Kryptonian into the complicated world of Super-Heroes and Super-Villains – who are now under attack by a malevolent alien force known as Starro! It's a race against time as Jonathan must join forces with assassin-turned-Boy-Wonder Damian Wayne to rescue their fathers (Superman & Batman) and save the planet by becoming the Super Sons they were destined to be.
