This week’s Nose is the first one to say it’s a great country, but it’s a strange culture. George Carlin’s American Dream is a new, two-part, nearly-four-hour HBO documentary directed by Judd Apatow and Michael Bonfiglio. At 225 minutes, it actually runs 45 minutes shorter than Apatow’s previous HBO doc, The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling. And: Brigsby Bear is a 2017 comedy-drama written by Kevin Costello and Kyle Mooney from a story by Mooney and directed by Dave McCary. Mooney is one of four major departures from the cast of Saturday Night Live last weekend. Brigsby Bear stars Mooney, Claire Danes, Mark Hamill, Greg Kinnear, Andy Samberg, and Matt Walsh. Hey now, no parties! Intensely private Larry doesn't want the entire staff to be invited over for a dinner party. He's too worried that his wife will tell them about how they first met; how he wanted to have sex on the first date; how they wound up just “dry humping on the couch” that night; or how Larry might be ending the Sanders show to retire to Montana. Enter real life Shandling neighbor Martin Mull who invites himself to the party and hits on Hank's date. To pour more lemon juice into his open wounds, Jeanne Sanders tries to get Hank to switch his call from “hey now” to “come here.” Larry tries to watch his alcohol intake and clears out his medicine cabinet so the staff will not find out about what a huge fiend he is. And, what about the real Garry Shandling? Was he “maybe high the entire time” as referenced in The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling? And what's with Alec Baldwin and photogs? Can he keep his hands to himself or will he be charged with murder? Find out on the all new “Only Murders in the Building” episode of The Larry Sanders Show. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

In addition to a prolific stand-up career Wayne has done lots of TV commercials, voice overs and numerous guest star appearances. On the TV side, you may remember him as Garry Shandling’s brother on the Larry Sanders show or Larry David’s next-door neighbor on Curb Your Enthusiasm or his starring role in a special episode of the X-Files written and directed by David Duchovny Wayne has also been in some of the biggest comedy movies of the last twenty years and has become known for appearing in just one scene in a film and then disappearing; he calls this the "Federman-and-out". He produced two favorites of ours: The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling and the award-winning web series with Don Rickles, Dinner with Don. Wayne is the busiest man in comedy, guesting on over 80 podcasts and hosting his own History of Stand-Up podcast which has spawned his fascinating new book; The History of Stand-Up: From Mark Twain to Dave Chappelle.

Today's episode is produced in collaboration with Murmrr Ballroom and Community Bookstore. Judd Apatow and David Duchovny absolutely adored their friend and collaborator Garry Shandling. Since Garry's death in 2016, Judd has been memorializing the game-changing comedian, first with his HBO documentary The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling, and more recently through the book, It's Garry Shandling's Book, comprised of journal entries, photos, and contributions from peers. To celebrate Garry's life via the book's release late last year, Judd and David sat down at a sold-out Murmrr Ballroom to share some heartfelt and hilarious stories, and to answer audience questions. In this very special episode, tune in for tales of boxing and meditating with Garry; on-set shenanigans; wild times at his famous Hollywood basketball games with the likes of Adam Sandler, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt; and so much more. Subscribe now to stay in the loop on future episodes of the Talkhouse Podcast, including upcoming episodes with George Saunders and Dana Spiotta (another Murmrr Lit collaboration), the New Pornographer’s AC Newman and Post Animal, Robbie Robertson of The Band and Hiss Golden Messenger, and filmmakers Olivier Assayas and Kelly Reichardt. —Elia Einhorn, Talkhouse Podcast host and producer Huge thanks to Brian Kelly and all at Murmrr, and to Community Bookstore in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling & Kurosawa's Ikiru: Purpose, Regret, & Redemption On this week's episode of WatchThis W/RickRamos, Ramos goes it solo in The Fortress of Ultimate Darkness to talk Judd Apatow's 2018 HBO Documentary on The Life, Struggles, & Career of Garry Shandling (November 29, 1949 - March 24, 2016). Apatow had incredible access to the comedian's life, having known him for nearly four decades, and The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling is probably the most in depth understanding of Shandling's art, life, and spiritual self. It's a wonderful examination of the life of one of the greatest stand-up comics of all times . . . his personal, artistic, and spiritual struggles. Ramos pairs this episode with Akira Kurosawa's 1952 Ikiru, featuring a touching and brilliant lead performance from Kurosawa stock player Takashi Shimura as an almost anonymous political bureaucrat who discovers he is dying from stomach cancer and becomes consumed with finding purpose for his life. These are two films that have affected Ramos deeply, an emotional and thoughtful discussion of these two films which he hopes you enjoy. Questions, Comments, Complaints, & Suggestions can be directed to gondoramos@yahoo.com. As always, Thanks for the Continued Love & Support.

E15 – We interview our mom about her personal Garry Shandling story after we watched the Judd Apatow documentary "The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling". The story leads to our dads history as a football player who went from the University of Arizona to the New York Jets to the New England Patriots in the 1970's. Our mom tells the story of their relationship and gives her feelings on our dad's motivations and struggles. By our final discussion we end up seeing a lot of parallels between Garry Shandling and our father, who also went into the entertainment industry. Weens shares her thoughts on acting achievement and self-sabotage. It's another episode to get to know us and our family This is us folks! Star Warwick Davis was only eighteen when he was cast as the lead in the Ron Howard directed, George Lucas produced fantasy epic Willow. He gamely and charismatically carries the film, often stealing the heroic spotlight from his more classically handsome costar, Hollywood It boy Val Kilmer. Davis also met the woman who would become his wife on the set of Willow -- she was an extra in the Nelwyn community scenes at the beginning of the film. Initially a modest hit, the film went on to gain a cult following and springboard Davis into a varied and successful career. Dan and Vicky enter the world of Willow for the first time and give their thoughts on it's effectiveness as a fantasy adventure film for kids with a dark undercurrent. They also recap some of their recently seen including the horror films Veronica, Burnt Offerings, Unsane and Giallo, and the TV offerings Instinct on CBS and Zen Diaries of Gary Shandling on HBO. We also hear about the Hot Date our hosts had on Broadway seeing the Glenda Jackson/Laurie Metcalf starring Three Tall Woman, Dan's new off-Broadway play The Enclave and, most exciting of all, the creation of Hot Date's new website, hotdatepod.com, where you can enjoy and stay current with all things Hot Date! We anticipated this moment for a long time, but we’re finally reviewing Ready Player One. Directed by Steven Spielberg and based on the novel of the same name by Ernest Cline, Christopher Cross and Dylan Schwan jack into the Oasis and take on the idea of being an auteur, gamer culture, and how much we dislike Ernest Cline. This is one of our longest reviews ever, so make sure to take 20-minute breaks in between your virtual reality sessions so your head doesn’t hurt. Isle of Dogs is Wes Anderson’s newest quirky film and we also spend a decent amount of time discussing intent versus ignorance and whether there is merit to the ongoing controversy surrounding the film. Dylan also watched a four-and-a-half-hour documentary called The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling, and Chris watched the fourth Insidious film - Insidious: The Last Key. Next week, we return with a review of Blockers and probably some words on A Quiet Place. You can find Film Fallout every week on iTunes, Soundcloud, Stitcher, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as anything else that pulls an RSS Feed. Feel free to share the podcast with your friends if you enjoy it, and rate and subscribe on iTunes to help spread the word as much as possible!

It's been a few days since Jack has had anything to drink and he broke that streak in this episode. You've been warned. On the flipside, Aaron came into the episode already a bit tipsy off of some odd blue drink from FX's "Legion" Chamber Experience going on in Hollywood this weekend. Let's party! NEWS HIGHLIGHTS: Donald and Stephen Glover are no longer working on FX's "Deadpool" animated series. After the news hit, Glover released his entire script for the pilot online 18 million people tuned into "Roseanne" when it returned to TV on Tuesday. And in a speech in Ohio on Tuesday, which was supposed to be about infrastructure, Donald Trump ended up taking the credit for those ratings. Stormy Daniels' 60 Minutes interview brought the show's highest ratings in 10 years — that's 22 million viewers Steven Spielberg came out against Netflix movies being nominated for Oscars. If it's released in the TV format, it should be considered a TV movie and only be considered for Emmys. Do we agree? Netflix has renewed four unscripted shows: "Queer Eye," the docuseries "Dope," the baking competition series "Nailed It," and the docuseries "The Toys That Made Us" Get excited, Jack.
