The Grimoire of Familiar Killers has unleashed its horrors once more, but now it's time to slam the book shut—if we can.
Happy Halloween! In this special, surprise bonus episode, Ryan looks at Patrick Dempsey's statements on The Today Show about starring in Scream 7 last week. Then, Ryan discusses the point of view in which he comes to Halloween – defined by the final girl, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) rather than the villain in Michael Myers – and how it's informed by Scream. Additionally, Ryan discusses how the plot of Halloween H20 is the blueprint of what Scream 7 could be. HALLOWEEN (1978), directed by John Carpenter, is a seminal slasher film that follows Michael Myers, a masked killer who escapes from a mental institution and returns to his hometown to stalk and murder teenagers. Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) becomes his primary target as he unleashes terror on Halloween night. “He'd be a YouTube prankster now wouldn't he. Instead of a serial killer” Pulling the blank featureless mask over their face, the Panel of Peril breath in deeply and out deeper. They consider picking up a kitchen knife, but instead plump for a DVD of this week's film, John Carpenter's Halloween (1978). Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) is an outlier among her group of high school friends. She has no date for the school dance and doesn't drink or smoke. So, when homicidal maniac Michael Myers (Tony Moran) returns to the her hometown of Haddonfield, her position as a bit of a wet blanket will ensure that she can keep a beady eye fixed on The Shape's movements. Watch the trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5ke9IPTIJQ ********PLOT SPOILER ALERT******** Myers rampages through the town, killing anyone who gets in his way – primarily Laurie's babysitter friends. Fortunately, Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasance) is on the case, with his trusty little pistol, and dead set on stopping the boiler suit-wearing bruiser. Will Laurie survive All Hallows Eve, or will Myers run through everyone and go unpunished? Did the panel enjoy this week's cinematic serving? Could they find a way to improve the villainous plan? The Return of Michael Myers (1988). Evil ends tonight! That was the catch phrase of the second film in the David Gordon Green trilogy for the latest reboot of the Halloween film franchise. This trilogy takes up with understanding only the original 1978 film would be used in continuity. With the latest, HALLOWEEN ENDS (2022), the series begins its wrap up. Is it really the end? Whether it is or not, this is the film that is the finale of the last films. A few years after the Michael Myers' rampage of 2018, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her granddaughter Allyson Nelson (Andi Matichak) have settled down into as normal a suburban life they can. When loner, Corey (Rohan Campbell), and Allyson find each other and begin to date, will the terror of Michael Myers once again return this coming Halloween night? Directed by David Gordon Green, the movie was co-written by him along with Paul Brad Logan, Chris Bernier, and Danny McBride. The film brings back Kyle Richards, Will Patton, and even Nick Castle (the original Michael Myers) makes a cameo. Unfortunately for many, the critical response was not as highly anticipated as folks had hoped. Dark Discussions Podcast takes a look at the movie and sees if concerns were warranted.
BOO! It's the Halloween season and that brings us HALLOWEEN ENDS, the climactic (?) film of a franchise that has spanned for over 40 years. In the grand finale, 4 years after the disappearance of Michael Myers, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has decided to share her story as a way to deal with her grief. But, as she says, "evil never dies, it only changes shape"... This week, horror mavens Allen Chabot and Catherine Erskine (with a shoutout to newbie Delsean Haywood) have a killer conversation about wrapping up trilogies, the infection of evil and how to stop the bleeding.
Only one will survive on Popcorn Podcast this week! Halloween Ends is here, the final chapter in the hugely popular Halloween horror franchise which sees Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) face off for the last time against the embodiment of evil, Michael Myers. But does this final confrontation close out the four decades-long Halloween franchise in a successful and satisfying way? Find out in this NO SPOILER episode. Plus, Marvel Studios delays multiple projects; a Black Adam spoiler has fans cheering; Kenneth Branagh to return as Poirot; Barbarella finds its space-hopping star; and we farewell icon Angela Lansbury.Don't forget to watch our interviews with Halloween Ends stars Andi Matichak and Kyle Richards on YouTube: https://youtu.be/3YrqsNYfapkKnow someone who loves movies? Ian and David conclude their sojourn in nearby Haddonfield, Illinois with a look at David Gordon Green's Halloween Ends!Four years after the events of Halloween Kills, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has moved back home to write a book about her traumatic experiences with serial killer Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney). Her granddaughter/housemate, Allyson (Andi Matichak), starts a relationship with a troubled outcast named Corey (Rohan Campbell). The three of them grapple with a Haddonfield that hasn't been the same since Myers vanished without a trace...though the essence of his evil lingers as an emerging threat. In this spoiler-filled and merciless (but mostly fair) review, Ian and David break down the decisions that some call "bold" and others call "misguided", as Green and company deliver one of the most divisive and convoluted horror sequels since Friday the 13th: A New Beginning! They also propose an alternate version of the trilogy; question what reality the new movie takes place in; and decide whether or not it's time to stop celebrating Halloween!Show Links:Watch the Halloween Ends trailer.Follow David's film criticism at Keeping It Reel.Catch up with the guys' reviews of the first two films in David Gordon Green's HALLOWEEN trilogy:Halloween (2018)Halloween Kills (2021)As a bonus, check out Ian's interview with Halloween Kills star Anthony Michael Hall.Subscribe to, like, and comment on the Kicking the Seat YouTube channel!

Just about a year ago, I Finally Watched... watched and reviewed the original 1978 Halloween, featuring the notorious Michael Myers. Now we are back to talk about Halloween II (1981) Taking off right where the first movie left off, we follow Michael Myers as he tries to hunt down Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in a hospital... and we spend a lot of time in that hospital!
In honor of Halloween Kills slicing up the box office (and the holiday of Halloween in general) we reviewed a less successful foray into the franchise with possibly its worst entry, 2002's Halloween: Resurrection! After decapitating Michael Myers in the last film, the embarrassingly titled but by all accounts decent Halloween H20: 20 Years Later, this movie opens with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) in a mental institution. The exposition nurse reveals that in a stunning plot twist that allows them to make more Halloween movies, Michael switched his outfit with that of an innocent father of three EMT, who was the person Laurie actually decapitated. Michael is still alive. Laurie is in a constant state of pretend shock one year later, but lies in wait for Michael to come for her on Halloween so she can unleash her trap. Unfortunately for Laurie (and fortunately for Jamie Lee Curtis, who desperately wanted to stop making these movies) Michael slips out of the trap and kills her. A year later, and unrelated to everything that just happened, some college students sign up to star in a livestreamed internet reality series called Dangertainment. After being recruited by Freddie Harris (Busta Rhymes) and Nora Winston (Tyra Banks), the cadre of horny teens are locked in Michael Myers's childhood home and must search for clues as to why he's so crazy. But what's really crazy is Michael has been living under the house this entire time and emerges to kill them off!

Isn’t that Devon Graham? I think he’s cute! We watched Halloween (1978) with our friend and MTMUG all star Matt Emert and we hate a guy with a car and no sense of humor. This is the mother of all slasher movies (we see you Black Christmas) and our guest Matt is an aficionado of all things Haddonfield. This is a horror movie for people who LOVE the genre - we defy you to count the Psycho references sprinkled in by legendary director John Carpenter (who also composed one of the creepiest movie scores in history). Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) has become the template for the “final girl” and her horny friends gave way to the basic “Scream” rules to survive a horror film (never have sex, drink or do drugs or say “I’ll be right back”). Poor Laurie. Scared another one away. Halloween is an institution. We've talked about the first, we've talked about the remake, now it's time to talk about the newest installment: 2018's Halloween! This picks up the story with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) as she goes full prepper, waiting for the day Michael Myers escapes and returns to Haddonfield to finish what he started so long ago. Buckle up, everyone - it's gonna get bloody!
We're still playing catch up! It may be November already but that doesn't mean we can't still talk about Halloween. Halloween is the eleventh film in the franchise. It's a direct sequel to the original film from 1978, and it retcons all of the other sequels (especially those Rob Zombie remakes). Directed by David Gordon Green, Halloween follows a post-traumatic Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) who prepares to face Michael Myers in a final showdown on Halloween night, forty years after she escaped his killing spree. If this movie's got anything worth offering - John Carpenter's score is back!
Nathan and Scotty discuss Halloween (2018), directed by David Gordon Green. Presented as a sequel to the 1978 masterpiece, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), 40 years later, faces off with “The Shape” (Michael Myers) in a final showdown on All Hallows’ Eve. This fresh take on the “Halloween” franchise may build up enough momentum for a rebirth of the slasher film. This episode is sponsored by Philz Coffee.

40 years after the original Halloween, Michael Meyers is back to kill, maim and scare the s--- out of anybody who crosses his path and those crazy enough to buy a ticket. Negating the existence of the sequels and reboots that came later, this Halloween sees Michael once again breaking out of a mental institution and coming face to face with Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis). They’ve ditched the brother/sister storyline and damsel in distress/scream queen persona. This time Laurie wants Michael to come for her - so she can kill him. The new Halloween trailer looks like they’ve nailed the tone of the original without feeling like a repeat. Shotgun pumping and knife-wielding Laurie is a refreshing update to the franchise’s main hero. In this episode we’re breaking down the trailer and discussing all of the highs and lows of each of the installments from the past 40 years. Whether you’re a fan of horror or film in general, you’ll enjoy listening to us geek out. Written by Danny McBride (yes that Danny McBride) and blessed by John Carpenter (who’s returning to score the flick), our money is on this being a modern horror classic. October 19th can’t come soon enough. Make sure to check us out at Get2theMovies.com and follow @get2themovies on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!
