Her career in entertainment and the arts skyrocketed in the early 2000's, but were largely derailed when she began to face stalking at the hands of a perpetrator that also stalks several celebrities. Her experiences in the legal system, within the media, and in helping other survivors since have propelled her to redefine herself several times over. As a result, she serves the survivor community deeply in many different ways, no matter what continues to come next in her journey, and we are so honored she is sharing a portion of it all with us today. On October 30, Collier said goodbye to the light of his life, constant companion, and chihuahua child Blondie. She was four months shy of her 18th birthday. While loss is something Collier has dealt with his entire life, this one has cut deep. In this special episode of Moving Past Murder, fellow True Crime advocates Terra Newell, Kelsi German, and Lenora Claire the importance of dogs in their lives and how our fur babies have allowed us to heal from the scars of trauma. •We begin with an interview with Kelsi German, whose sister Libby is one of two victims of the 2017 Delphi murders. After a 5 year investigation, suspect Richard Allen was arrested on October 31, 2022, in connection with the murder of Libby and her friend Abigail Williams. It's hard to believe it's been 4(!) years since Lenora Claire and Bree Walker met for the first time on The Dark Mark Show. This is definitely one of the best podcasts we ever recorded. Mark and Hannah welcomed producer/curator/activist Lenora Claire and newswoman/actress/activist Bree Walker to the lighter side of the dark side Lenora talked about her days as a child actress which started with her talking her way on to Reading Rainbow, how frugal Steven Spielberg can be, why the LGBT community stays ahead of everyone on trends, why goth and hip hop mix so well together and about her harrowing experiences with a stalker which has landed her on Crimewatch, 48 Hours and Dr.Oz and what we need to do to update the existing laws and make people safer. Bree had her own experience on Reading Rainbow, explaining to children about her having ectrodactyly, how she was one half of the first all woman news anchor team, what it was like being inducted in the San Diego women's hall of fame, her own experiences with stalkers, what it was like to guest star on Nip-Tuck and got the cutest message taped by Hannah's grandpa,
What's it like to have a man stalking you? What about a wealthy stalker with no need for a job, and all the time to feed their delusional appetite? That's the nightmare Lenora Claire found herself in. Lenora is a TV and media star who now spends much of her time as a victim's rights advocate. Her stalker survival story was featured on the news documentary program, 48 Hours. Through her frightening struggle to protect herself from her stalker, Lenora discovered a new purpose in her life: helping others fight back against stalkers. Since then, Lenora has been called "the Erin Brockovich of stalking" by Vice. Listen to her disturbing story. Learn how to fight back against stalkers. Collier and Lenora also discuss the dark side of True-Crime fame. More than ever, victims of violent crimes are having their stories published, marketed, and broadcast to an audience of millions. Is it worth it? "It's not over until one of us dies." Some stalkers never stop trying to reach their victims. No amount of jail time, no amount of fines, and no amount of time is enough to persuade some stalkers to change their ways, as Lenora explains. The trauma for many victims of violent crimes doesn't end after the crime is over and the attacker is arrested. The stories that are told, the podcasts that are made, the TV shows that are aired, all of it is a reminder of the worst moment of someone's life. From Kim Kardashian to Gywneth Paltrow, many celebrities have entire security teams to keep them safe from stalkers and the like. But what do most people do when they don't have the money to afford professional security services? Find out. After law enforcement wouldn't give Lenora the help she needed to deal with a stalker, hear the steps she took to turn the tables on her stalker; to track him and get him arrested five different times. Hollywood star power from actress and NCIS star, Pauley Perrette, helped get Lenora connected to influential U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff, among others. Hear what she managed to accomplish. Lenora Claire, the Erin Brovovich of stalking, joins us for her second powerful episode. So often our society misunderstands stalking to the extent that it's often a theme in comedians' standup. And yet, real life stalkers are frequently terrifying, dangerous and nothing to joke about. And with a justice system that does just short of nothing to help survivors, we need a bright light of hope. And that's where Lenora Claire comes in as our bright light in a sea of darkness. In this episode, she discusses how you can reduce your risk of having a stalker, best steps to take directly after being sexually assaulted, along with legal changes she is attempting to push through our justice system, such as her app concept with geofencing that would allow survivors to track their stalker. Finally, she tells us about Lenora Claire LLC, her company designed to consult with the entertainment industry, specifically on True Crime shows, so their treatment of survivors is ethical and kind while working with them. Please join us for this episode of Open Deeply that proves that super heroines are real. Lenora Claire is a survivor of multiple violent crimes, a member of the Los Angeles District Attorney Crime Victims Advisory Board, the CEO of Lenora Claire Consulting LLC, as well as an entertainment industry professional. After becoming the fixation of a dangerous stalker, Lenora began to speak out not only for herself but for the other 7.5 million Americans currently being stalked who find themselves without resources and living in fear. Lenora's case has been featured on 48 Hours, Dr. Oz, Crime Watch Daily, CBS News and other media outlets. Named “The Erin Brockovich of Stalking” by Vice, Lenora has helped countless people obtain restraining orders. She has served as a human shield in court and lectured on the subject of risk minimization at schools, on television and on podcasts. With fellow advocate, Jess Gilbert, they formed The Innovative Justice Alliance to propose legislation and develop methods of prevention in the technology space. Lenora also works as a consultant for television and film, advocating for victims and their families to ensure respectful depictions of their most traumatic and vulnerable moments of their lives. Lenora Claire once lead a Felliniesque life, orchestrating amazing art shows like “Golden Girls Gone Wild”, associating with colorful celebrities, and creating some of the best parties Hollywood had to offer. But “P.T. Barnum with Boobs” would soon have a new calling and a new moniker. In 2001 she was named one of L.A. Weekly's people of the year. However, the bliss that came with this recognition was soon followed by terror as a dangerous stalker became fixated on her. But this overwhelming fright only caused her bright light to go on dim briefly. In this episode she tells us how she fought back. As a result, she is now known as the Erin Brockovich of stalking, and not only advocates for herself, but also for the 7.5 million Americans who are currently being stalked right now. Please join us for this amazing episode of Open Deeply as Lenora tells us all about how she is creating change in our legal system and the entertainment industry so that we all might be safer. According to the National Center for Victims of Crime, 7.5 million Americans are stalked annually. BUT, proving a case of stalking is not easy. I know firsthand because I was part of passing the first anti-stalking laws in the country. Victims must prove a laundry list of behavior in order to get their stalker arrested. Obtaining a restraining order is difficult as well. If you are being stalked, you basically need to become your own case manager and work WITH the police to prove a case of Stalking. My guest today did just that and was able to get her stalker arrested, more than once. Lenora Claire was stalked by a man she met ONE TIME, he then began sending her extremely disturbing letters that escalated into graphic rape and death threats that ultimately led to his arrest. I wanted to have Lenora on the show to share her story of tenacity and strength in getting her stalker arrested and her crusade to help other victims. I had the immense pleasure of getting to know Lenora Claire, an incredibly admirable woman who has dedicated the last decade of her tumultuous life to victim's advocacy. She herself is a current victim of stalking, and has been for the last 10 years. After battling depression, she overcame and uses her voice to speak for others, and fights for them when they can't. She helped create the Victim's Advocacy Program, which provides victims of crime with resources and funding to navigate through their trauma. I especially appreciate Lenora indulging me in an open and honest discussion regarding the Colton/Cassie stalking case. Lenora is also a casting director and producer in the Reality TV World. She is currently producing Sexology on Quibi and has worked with MTV on a variety of shows, including True Life. Her insight into this world is so eye opening, she keeps it real that's for sure! Live from CrimeCon, New Orleans, Laura Richards and Lisa Zambetti discuss stalking with our special guest Lenora Claire. Lenora was dubbed the "Erin Brockovich of stalking" by Vice having been targeted by serial stalker, Justin Massler who changed his name to Cloud Starchaser, for 8 years. As well as stalking Lenora, Cloud Starchaser stalked Ivanka Trump, Gwyneth Paltrow and several of the Kardashians. Lenora refused to be a victim and became her own advocate and investigator, tracking the stalker, collecting evidence and undertook her own discovery in the case resulting in the stalker being convicted.
