Supporting Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse - Carl Rogers'Seven Stages of Process In Episode 340 of the Counselling Tutor Podcast, your hosts Rory Lees-Oakes and Ken Kelly take us through this week's three topics: Firstly, in ‘Ethical, Sustainable Practice', we look at the question: Can clients ask you to delete their data? - covering legal, ethical, and practical considerations. Then in ‘Practice Matters', Rory speaks with Jeremy Sachs about supporting male survivors of sexual abuse, with a focus on the intersectional challenges they face and practical considerations for therapists. And finally, in ‘Student Services', Rory and Ken explain and simplify Carl Rogers' Seven Stages of Process, highlighting how this core theory maps client growth in therapy. Can Clients Ask You to Delete Their Data? [starts at 03:26 mins] In this section, Rory and Ken address a challenging but important question: Can clients ask you to delete their data? Key points discussed include: Under UK GDPR (Article 17), clients have the "right to erasure" (right to be forgotten), but it's not absolute. You may decline deletion if: The data is required for legal obligations, such as tax or insurance records. You need the data to defend against complaints or for safeguarding purposes. Deleting data prematurely could leave you without a defence if a client complains later or if you are required to provide records to legal authorities or coroners. Good practice includes: Explaining data retention policies in your contract. Consulting the ICO (Information Commissioner's Office) for UK-based practitioners. Documenting decisions with written evidence from insurers or data protection authorities. Consider using a split-note system to separate identifying details from case notes. How long should client data be kept after therapy ends? (Commonly six years for adults, up to age 25 for children). Supporting Male Survivors of Sexual Abuse [starts at 23:53 mins] In ‘Practice Matters', Rory speaks with Jeremy Sachs, therapist and author of the upcoming book Masculinity Reconnected, about male sexual abuse and its often-overlooked challenges. Key points discussed include: Societal silence: Male survivors often go unheard due to cultural narratives about masculinity, strength, and emotional repression. The role of masculinity: Traditional masculinity can prevent men from seeking help. Men may internalise shame and avoid vulnerability. "Toxic masculinity" can further oppress male survivors. Intersectionality: Men experience sexual abuse differently based on race, gender identity, class, or sexuality. Therapists must recognise these layers when supporting clients. Supporting survivors: Create safe, validating spaces for male clients to share their stories. Explore how societal expectations and cultural messaging impact their healing. Encourage community and connection to reduce isolation. Carl Rogers' Seven Stages of Process [starts at 45:40 mins] In ‘Student Services', Rory and Ken simplify Carl Rogers' Seven Stages of Process, a key person-centred theory describing how clients grow through therapy. Key points include: The seven stages map a client's journey from rigidity to fluidity - from defensiveness to openness and self-trust. Stages explained: Rigidity & Defensiveness – Blaming others, avoiding self-awareness. External Recognition – Acknowledging problems exist but externalising them. Tentative Self-Exploration – Starting to discuss personal feelings. Here-and-Now Feelings – Becoming present-focused, seeking involvement in therapy. Ownership & Change – Taking control and committing to change. Experiencing Fully – Accepting emotions in real-time and trusting the inner self. Self-Actualisation – Living authentically and growing beyond therapy. Most therapy takes place between stages 3–5,
When building a successful startup, the difference between thriving and failing often lies in understanding the journey itself. Today, I had the pleasure of speaking with Gregory Shepard, the entrepreneur behind "The Startup Lifecycle" and the founder of the Startup Science platform. Gregory's research-driven insights offer a clear and practical roadmap that challenges the myths that have surrounded startup culture for decades. In our conversation, Gregory shared how his five-year research project revealed why so many startups fail and what can be done to reverse that trend. With data showing that 47.1 percent of startups fail within the first 18 months, Gregory highlights the critical importance of getting the earliest decisions right. Overvaluation, misunderstanding capital needs, premature scaling, and neglecting to consider an exit strategy from the start are some common missteps he passionately helps founders avoid. Gregory also discussed the seven stages of the startup lifecycle he created, paying particular attention to the often overlooked stages of standardization and optimization. Rather than rushing from product development to rapid growth, he emphasizes the need to stabilize and streamline operations first to ensure that scaling brings real profitability, not just top-line growth. This mindset shift alone could dramatically alter the success rate of new businesses. Beyond the book, Gregory has built the Startup Science platform, a comprehensive ecosystem designed to give founders access to mentors, investors, grants, classes, and curated resources all in one place. It is not just about reading a book or attending a workshop. It is about systematically embedding success principles into every aspect of the entrepreneurial journey. We also talked about the current startup climate and why economic downturns often lead to a surge in entrepreneurial activity. Gregory's advice is simple yet powerful: bunker down, stay focused, and view this period as an opportunity rather than a barrier. Investors still back good companies even when the broader environment feels uncertain. Throughout our conversation, Gregory's passion for supporting marginalized entrepreneurs and his commitment to the social and environmental impact of startups shone through. His belief that entrepreneurship is a true driver of global progress resonated deeply with me. Every aspiring founder can learn from their structured approach to resilience and success. For those curious about the real factors behind startup success, I highly recommend checking out "The Startup Lifecycle" and exploring the resources available at GregoryShepard.com and StartupScience.io. If you are serious about your entrepreneurial dreams, this is one conversation you cannot afford to miss.

Tune in for an incredible conversation about grief, loss, faith and so many other nuggets! Market Proof Marketing · Ep 376 - The Best Project Management Tool? The One You'll Use!Kevin Oakley is back this week, and is joined by Julie Jarnagin and Beth Russell. This week's episode kicks off with a funny story from Kevin about being everyone's best friend, and shifts into story time, covering insightful calls with builders the team has had recently. News stories discussed include Google lifting its 2019 ban on fingerprinting for advertisers, a deep dive into the effectiveness of builder incentives, AI readiness in homebuilding, and a new task manager blog written by DYC's very own, Samantha Kellenberger!Story Time (04:40): Julie has been working on her IBS presentation around brand consistency, and how providing guardrails (using LEGO as a great example) keeps things consistent while using user generated content. Kevin follows-up surrounding a recent conversation about creating rules, and showcasing content to inform certainty. Beth had an interesting call with a company owner, who referenced the Hippocratic Oath that doctors make -- do no harm -- and tied it to their website. For example, putting too much information out there and over-engineering what you're showcasing can cause more harm than good. Kevin reminds: until you hit a minimum lead quantity, you don't get to complain about lead quality! Kevin spoke to a builder this week who has one community performing very differently than others despite having similar processes for marketing. Using GA4's path exploration tool, he noticed that the options people were clicking most were the items right in the center/most obvious. He encourages marketers to use this tool, and view it from the eyes of a customer. Mobile reality can't be ignored or fixed -- you can only do so much on a mobile screen. In The News (28:13): Google just lifted its 2019 ban on fingerprinting for advertisersGoogle now allows advertisers to track users across devices and websites, collecting data points like IP addresses, operating system details, and screen resolution.Kevin's hunch is we only see this live for a short time before it's taken away again, but they'll collect a significant amount of data in the meantime. The Cost of Incentives: Have Buyers Come to Expect Perks? Are consumers addicted, are builders addicted, or both?Kevin recaps the importance of the messaging of "new," and how you don't have to offer the biggest new incentive, you need to lean into how consumers want to stay informed. One nuance discussed is how some customers don't qualify without them. The Seven Stages of AI Readiness In Homebuilding From hype to impacti, AI is more than a buzzword. Julie loves the advice to evaluate AI vendors with a critical eye, and reminds you that if you're headed to IBS, there will be a lot of buzzwords, but you need to ask great questions and "pull back the onion."You need to have a clear process on how your business operates before you can layer in AI -- rethink workflows not just technology. Avoid AI for AI's sake -- start with clear business goals. Which Task Manager Tool is Best for Your Team? The best project management tool is the best one everyone in your organization will use! If you're looking into using a task manager to help your team (Monday, Asana, Trello, etc.) she outlines the pros and cons to help you make an informed decision.Beth remembers wanting to implement something for her team, and asking Kevin how to get started, and thinks the ease-of-use summary was so helpful in the blog. Come for the writing, stay for the summary chart! Things We Love - Things We Hate (53:38):Beth has entered "Masters season" in the Augusta area, and is fascinated by how intertwined it is into the culture. She is equally obsessed and perplexed. Julie is in the midst of Mardi Gras, in full king cake and parade season. But her favorite thing is going to thrift stores, and loves the hunt. Kevin's favorite is the Hollyland Lark M2S Microphone, which is extremely small, and is a great price for 2 mics. Like and subscribe on your favorite platform! Beyond SEO: The Seven Stages of Marketing Success How Perception Shapes Marketing (More Than Facts Do) Episode 244 (George is based in the Toronto area) In this conversation we explore: The concept of holistic digital marketing and how it differs from traditional marketing approaches. The seven stages of the customer journey and why businesses should focus beyond conversion. The role of client advocacy and how turning customers into brand ambassadors reduces acquisition costs. Why marketing is both an art and a science and how to balance creativity with data-driven decisions. Common mistakes businesses make in marketing and how to align strategies with business goals. How AI is changing digital marketing and why human creativity still matters. The importance of emotional triggers in marketing and how psychology influences buying decisions. The power of perception in marketing and why it can be more influential than facts. The pitfalls of generic outreach and how personalized messaging improves response rates. How to design a marketing strategy that starts with outcomes rather than tactics. About our guest, George Arabian: George has over 25 years experience in marketing starting with his first website in 1996 when the Internet was in it's infancy. George is the founder and CEO of NVISION, one of Canada's top digital marketing agencies. NVISION is known for combining consulting and executive while focusing on lead generation and brand awareness for mid-market B2B clients in manufacturing, professional services and technology. Learn more about NVISION here https://nvision.co/ Follow George Arabian on Linkedin here https://www.linkedin.com/in/georgearabian/ ----- Key Learning Points Holistic Digital Marketing Defined Goes beyond omnichannel strategies to focus on the full customer journey. Involves digital touchpoints that engage prospects from awareness to advocacy. The Seven Stages of the Customer Journey Awareness → Consideration → Conversion → Engagement → Adoption → Retention → Advocacy. Many businesses stop at conversion, missing out on advocacy benefits. The Power of Client Advocacy The best customers are those who promote you. Encouraging referrals and testimonials lowers acquisition costs. Marketing is Both Art and Science Science: Understanding algorithms, analytics, and user behavior. Art: Crafting compelling messages, visuals, and emotional appeals. Why Most Businesses Don't Know If Their Marketing Works Many invest in tactics without tracking real business outcomes. Successful marketing must align with company goals, not just vanity metrics. AI's Role in Digital Marketing AI is a tool, not a replacement for authentic messaging. It can enhance efficiency but lacks human creativity and emotional depth. Emotional Triggers Drive Marketing Success People buy based on emotions, not logic. Using words and imagery that resonate with customers increases engagement. Personalization and Perception Matter More Than Facts The way customers feel about a brand determines loyalty more than product specs. Example: Converse sending personalized birthday discounts builds advocacy. The Pitfalls of Generic Outreach Cold, AI-generated LinkedIn messages and impersonal pitches fail. Authenticity and research in outreach make a difference. Marketing Should Start with Outcomes, Not Tactics Instead of asking, “Do I need SEO?” businesses should ask, “What is my goal?” Clear objectives help marketing agencies design effective strategies. ----- ----more---- Your Intended Message is the podcast about how you can boost your career and business success by honing your communication skills. In this episode of Connected Leadership Bytes, Lisa Fane, CEO of the Center for Mentoring Excellence, and her colleague Michelle Hancock interview Andy Lopata. They discuss the importance of professional relationships, networking, and mentoring. Focusing on building authentic connections, understanding the difference between networking and professional relationships, and the concept of a personal board of advisors. Andy shares strategies for maintaining professional networks, the role of vulnerability in mentorship and the impact of remote work on mentoring and professional relationships. He emphasises the importance of consistency and frequency in building connections and offers insights into evolving mentoring practices in the modern workplace. Key Takeaways Reframing Networking: Shifting the perception of "networking" to "professional relationship strategy." Focus on building genuine, long-term relationships based on mutual respect and trust. The Power of Personal Boards of Advisors (Mastermind Groups): Crucial for leveraging diverse expertise and perspectives, this peer-to-peer mentoring approach offers invaluable support, guidance, and problem-solving capabilities. Regular meetings are key. The Seven Stages of Professional Relationships: Andy highlights a model (detailed in his book Connected Leadership) outlining seven stages of relationship development. Focusing on strengthening relationships in the middle stages (where rapport and trust exist but advocacy hasn't fully developed) is more effective than constantly seeking new connections. Vulnerability and Trust: Authentic professional relationships require vulnerability from both the mentor and mentee. Sharing struggles, mistakes, and doubts builds stronger connections and increases the resonance of the mentorship. Avoiding Common Pitfalls: Common networking mistakes: prioritising quantity over quality, asking for help too soon, and treating relationships transactionally. Instead look for consistent, frequent engagement, and fostering genuine connections without an immediate expectation of return. The Evolution of Mentorship: Andy notes the shift in mentorship due to remote work and changing career paths. This necessitates a more inclusive approach, embracing virtual mentoring, cross-organisational collaborations, and adapting to the needs of younger generations who prioritise long-term development over short-term project-based coaching. Listen as we share the steps we took to gather evidence, understand the mind-body link, and start experimenting with new approaches to pain treatment. We delve into the transformation that happens when you reduce avoidance behaviors and embrace cognitive safety messages. Finally, we talk about the exhilarating moment of fully committing to brain retraining and somatic practices, which brought us significant healing gains and a renewed sense of hope. The psychologist Eric Erikson suggested that there are seven main stages of a full human life. Each stage has a challenge which prepares us for the stages that follow. If we meet the challenges, we develop in a healthy way and experience health and fulfillment. If we are unable to develop the virtues inherent at any stage, we can get stuck and fail to thrive or even stunt our development until we can redo the particular work we missed. -- Join my new Opendoor Community on Patreon ! This week on the show, my good friend, colleague, and fellow alchemist Martin Ferretti comes back on to get real deep into the stages of alchemy throughout all processes of life. Despite his show The Alchemical Mind being on hiatus for some time, Martin has been a diligent alchemist in many capacities for years now, and he's one of my favorite people to talk to when it comes to this subject. Calcination, Dissolution, Separation, Conjunction, Fermentation, Distillation, and Coagulation -- these are the seven stages of alchemy, whether it be mental, physical, or spiritual. In seven stages we even find the levels of heaven and hell, the seven chakras, concepts like the seven stages of grief, and so much more. What does it mean to go through these processes on a psychological, existential level? To further elaborate this food for thought we bring up topics like Carl Jung, shadow work, the Kabbalah, Aristotle's distaste for the written word, Philip K Dick, Liu Cixin's The Three Body Problem, dark timelines and my recent conversation with Eric Millar, deciphering psychedelic revelations, and so much more. Well, today, we're spilling the tea on Stage One in the Love Story Journey: sharing the different aspects of the honeymoon phase of a relationship and: This is where the Love Story kicks off! Attraction and Infatuation—A Bit Like Love, But With Extra Sparkle and a Dash of Impatience.
The Seven Stages of Love - Love Is A Journey Romantic relationships often progress through several stages as couples get to know each other, build intimacy, and navigate the complexities of love. These stages can vary in duration and may not always occur in a linear fashion, as each relationship is unique. However, a common framework for understanding the stages of a romantic relationship includes the following seven stages: Attraction and Infatuation: This is the initial stage where two individuals are drawn to each other, often based on physical appearance, common interests, or shared values. During this stage, there is a strong sense of infatuation and excitement, and people often idealize the other person. Getting to Know Each Other: In this stage, the couple begins to learn more about each other's personalities, preferences, and life histories. They spend time together and start building a deeper connection. This stage involves conversations and activities aimed at discovering commonalities and differences. Establishing a Connection: As the relationship progresses, the couple begins to establish a deeper emotional connection. They share more about their feelings, goals, and past experiences. Trust and emotional intimacy start to develop during this stage. Commitment and exclusivity: This is the point at which the relationship becomes more serious. Couples may choose to commit to one another and become exclusive, meaning they are no longer dating other people. This stage often involves discussions about the future and long-term compatibility. Intimacy and Passion: The relationship deepens further as emotional and physical intimacy grows. This stage is characterized by a strong bond between partners, and physical affection and passion play a significant role. Conflict and Resolution: All relationships experience conflicts and challenges. This stage involves learning how to navigate disagreements and resolve conflicts in a healthy way. It's an important part of personal growth and relationship development. Long-Term Commitment and Growth: In this final stage, the couple has built a strong foundation, and they continue to work on maintaining and strengthening the relationship. They may make more significant commitments, such as moving in together, getting married, or starting a family. The relationship evolves over time, and the partners grow together. It's essential to remember that not all relationships follow these stages in a linear fashion, and some relationships may not progress through all of them. Additionally, the duration of each stage can vary widely depending on the individual and their unique circumstances. Every relationship is unique, and the most important factor is open communication, trust, and mutual respect between the partners. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/imanispeaks/support

In our practice it is important to connect to our Prana – Vital Energy, Life Force that is intelligent, healing and inspiring. It is filled with boundless energy and power. Increasing Prana in our practice creates Agni – Fire, to burn bright and hot. This is the desired experience of creating heat for positive change called Tapas. What we put in the fire receives this Prana, the Agni transforms it opening opportunities and possibilities of manifesting your true desires, your soul's longing. The Buddhist teaching on the 4 Vessels becomes useful as we liken it to ourselves, how we sculpt ourselves in practice, put ourselves into the fire and as a result we have a useful vessel to do our life well. This teaching is a symbolic representation that describes the human systems and the different challenges we face. A vessel suggests it holds or stores something, in this case your body contains your soul, subtle experiences and everything you receive.Closed Vessels a pot that has no opening, suggesting that it can't receive anything. It is closed off to all. I am sure most of us can relate to this as at one point in our live's we have shut down and shut out to protect and avoid the possibility of pain and suffering. However, as we close to what causes us pain we also close to that which brings joy. This image of a closed vessel give us a better understanding when we don't want to communicated, listen or look at source of problem as we are imprisoned within ourselves. Tilted Vessels a pot that is mis-shaped, so one can't fill it to maximum capacity. This is the understanding that our physical, energetic or mental body might not be able to see beyond it's limited beliefs that distort the perspective and keep it attached to the smallness of self. This becomes a crutch of blaming ourselves and others for the lack we feel in our lives and the tilted view point of ourselves and the reasons we can't hold more.Dirty Vessel is a container that has dirt in it, this dirt is a symbolic depiction of our prior conditioning, how our past negative experiences, impression we call samskaras influence the current perception of life, our emotional state and how we behave motivated by the negative dirt stuck in us, which interferes with the ability to see, think and act clearly as it corrupts and contaminates even the Joyous moments of our lives, the toxicity of unresolved stuff prevents us really celebrating our lives.Leaky Vessel suggests that there are cracks that prevent us from holding, utilising and or being effective. We can hear and receive, knowing it's importance and have good intentions…but get distracted easily and it dissipates our energy, vitality and we waste our time on things that distract us that might not be helpful or useful. (Stage 1) Self-Awareness brings our attention to contemplate and understand maybe today which vessel we relate to more. Coming to accept what is, then empowering ourselves to use our practice to heal, sooth, reshape our bodies, energy and mind to transform our present state to optimise our fullest potential. To celebrate, be radiant, to thrive in our lives regardless of what is going on. To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. To support Zephyr Yoga Podcast, please donate here. To be or go beyond the range or limits of, to surpass…not bypass this human experience, but embrace our humanity and reclaim our power to go beyond, to rise above our stuff, to cut across karmic ties, to excel and share our unique insight, gifts, talents and skills, to leave behind that which doesn't serve us and outshine our core false beliefs of ourselves. This is the essence of transcendence. All of the light of our intelligence, Prajna, and the innate wisdom, Buddhi, go through the first 5 stages of Yoga (1.) Self-Awareness, (2.) Understanding, (3.) Acceptance, (4.) Discipline and (5.) Actualisation, to go beyond the limited Self, beliefs and karma. This suggested method of working through these stages gives a clear path to liberation.First we become self-aware, awake, mindful.Second we identify and understand what triggers us, how we habitually react and delay the gratification and pause checking in with a set intention to practice and even a greater intention aligned to our dharma and commit to reinforce this intention as we move forward into our lives. This understanding of what you need forms a relationship to the Self as you connect with your inner intelligence, Prajna and innate wisdom, Buddhi. This connection will motivate you to approach what is arising in any given moment with a clearer path to find lasting fulfilment, contentment and even liberation from that which is causing you sufferingThird from a calmer place that is less reactive, we expand our viewpoint, empower ourselves to take responsibility for our part in what is arising and recognise our choices With awareness and understanding we can recognise what is motivating us, is it our shadow self or our light? Is it negativity or positivity? With this there is an admission of acceptance of what is as we practice cultivating loving awareness, friendliness, joy and compassion in practice YS 1.33, we embrace our humanity, forgive ourselves as we are perfectly imperfect as we see that our mistakes are our greatest teachers and emphasise self-love as we accept ourselves, our lives and what is just as it is. This establishes a sacred space where we can contently abide. Fourth, this then empowers us to re-engage with our intention, access the unlimited resource of energy to fuel us to take wise actions to show up in our lives and to live to our fullest potential as we are connected to our unique purpose of embodiment. We then enter the 6th stage of Yoga, Self-Transcendence, that we go beyond our limiting beliefs of ourselves, others and the life around us. We heal, transform old ways and surpass lessons we brought with us into this lifetime and even the ones we acquired as a result of being embodied as a human. Entering this stage where we outshine the past and receive an evolutionary upgrade so our causal body can move closer to its true desire: to be liberated from re-birth.To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. We as the competent students of Yoga (Adhikaras) devote and dedicate our time to a practice regularly and honour the teachings by adhering to the suggested path essential to achieving the desired State of YOGA! According to the Yoga Sutras 2.29, to practice Yoga the student follows the 8 limbed path. 8 Limbs of Yoga1. Yamas 2. Niyamas 3. Asana 4. Pranayama 5. Pratyahara 6. Dharana 7. Dhyana 8. SamadhiThis is what is suggested as practice Self-Awareness, Understanding, Acceptance and then Discipline to become Self – Actualised, to Self-Transcend and Self-Transform as a liberated causal experience from rebirth which is called Kaivalya. Most of us will be dancing through the first 4 stages most of our life, however there may come a point where there is an unfolding into the further stages, but until then we practice. This is where personal potential is fully realised after basic bodily and ego needs have been Self-Fulfilment. This means that there is full realisation of one's potential and of one's true self. Ultimately, it is said what you truly are is pure consciousness embodied.Spanda or vibration of the movement or wave of consciousness – physical essence of consciousnessOur practice is to attend to this pulse of consciousness and to the principle of Spanda expressing it's self through you as you. Spanda is the joyful impulse to create harmony and enjoy life. We practice wakefully as we take action, aware of the insight of the nature of consciousness embodied as form, expressing itself creatively. Open to grace in every moment, there is no distinction between the spiritual and the mundane, everything is a teacher expressing itself as Spanda, through you, as you and working with you and for you to wake you up to its presence in everything. We tend to fight against fear, guilt, shame, anger, sorrow. We tend to resist what we perceive as negativity or things we don't like, situations that create a change we feel may cause dis-ease or an undesirable outcome. This consumes so much energy and brain space, ruling our lives from a place of fear base beliefs. There is a slogan that states what we resist, persists. Creating a tug-a-war with our aversion to pain we call in yoga Dvesa, one of the mental emotional afflictions called the Kleshas. Peace comes when we can accept we have no power over people, places, things and situations we cannot change or control.Serenity Prayer: God grant me the serenityto accept the thing I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.Acceptance opens the door to learning. To approach practice with a beginners mind, to be open to receive what needs to be seen, experienced and felt, then to deeply understand in a supportive practice allowing the loving space you create to assist your growth. Life is always changing, there is always some new situation, person that brings stuff up in ourselves which becomes an opportunity to practice self-awareness (dissolving Avidya), understanding (dissolving Asmita) and then to gift ourselves a tender space to feel those old and new roots that get triggers we find an ability to accept (dissolving Dvesa) empowering ourselves to make wiser decisions to best navigate our lives with Grace. This is the next stage of Yoga to take wise action in a disciplined practice shaping our Karma (choices, actions)To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here. The first stage of Yoga is Self Awareness. This begins the invitation to change, to be present and to be conscious. If you think about it, most of our day is spent unconscious, lost in thought and entertaining the Doer-ship of our existence. This first step engages our light of intellect (Prajna) and our innate wisdom (Buddhi) to dissolve the veil of ignorance (Avidya) and expand our perspective to what is really going on in any given moment. We use our practice as the opportunity to have an honest self-reflection on the distorted negative illusions we recycle, then open to more positive truths. Self-honesty is an honest look at ourselves preparing us to be humble, compassionate and regain our serenity, this develops trust in ourselves to make wiser decision from a place of knowing what is truly important to us. The goal of working through these stages is to arrive to Citta Vritti Nirodha – Stilling the roaming tendencies of our heart mind. First we need to become aware of those tendencies, issues, disturbances and habits that cause the Citta to roam. As we practice listening to Buddhi, making informed decisions using Prajna we recognise the pain and suffering that is present. We become aware of our bias, judgements, insanity, habitual patterns and our “stuff”. Sutra 2.27 states that Self-Awareness is the first step to liberation as we heighten our awareness of the human condition of what is going on to cause the Citta to wander. In last weeks practice we started the journey through the 7 stages of Yoga with Self Awareness. This is where our light of intelligence (Prajna) and our intuitive Wisdom (Buddhi) gathered insight into what is arising in practice in the form of thought, emotions and sensations. In our practice we were consciously shaping the breath to guide the mind to recognise the true self. With direct recognition now attained, the next stage is to understand what is seen, felt and experienced. We are seekers, suggesting that there is a yearning to learn more, to recall past experiences, access the intellect to figure things out and draw on that knowledge to make wise decisions that are aligned to our known purpose. Yoga is a state of mind, not something to do, it's a work in, not a work out. So when we practice creating a pose, refining the mind to rest on the breath, sensation and light. We notice stuff arise in the form of thought, emotion and sensation. We do have the opportunity to understand WHY this is percolating up. HOW does it express itself. WHERE are you experiencing it. HOW old is it? WHAT is it trying to tell you? WHAT colour, shape, image, sensation is it? See, listen and be open to receive what needs to be expressed, seen and heard.I will offer you a map that has been useful in Asana practice. The map is based on the Granthis – the Physical, Psycho-Emotional Knots we hold in all of us. With the Granthis as a focus we will need to address the Chakras and open specific ones in deep meditation. What you experience in wakeful states is the Granthis releasing, opening and reshaping. These “knots” inhibit a healthy pranic flow of intelligence and function in these Chakra centres. To read more and to practice with Zephyr Wildman, click here.To support Zephyr Yoga Podcast, please donate here. (Spirit Rock Meditation Center) We work with the metaphor of the spiritual "journey" and distinguish seven successive stages of this journey, using as main reference points the poem by Mary Oliver called "The Journey" (read near the beginning and at the end of the talk), the life of the Buddha, the lives of several great practitioners in the Thai Forest Tradition (Ajahn Mun, Ajahn Chah, and Mae Chee Kaew), and our own lives. The stages begin with taking life for granted, move through some sense of unsatisfactoriness or inadequacy about our ordinary and habitual lives and a call for something more. They lead to some kind of departure from the ordinary and habitual, opening, typically with difficulties, challenges, and purification, to our more authentic being and awakening, at least to some degree, and returning in a way to our everyday lives. This journey can take many forms, and the stages can sometimes be successive, and sometimes all appear in a short period. After the talk, we have about 20 minutes of discussion.

So some people might meditate, some people might take a yoga class, some people might go to the gym. I think there's lots of various ways that you can approach it. For me, the nervous system work that I do is more about the process of allowing your autonomic nervous system to take in more sensory information.” Connect with Amina AlTai Website: aminaaltai.com Instagram: @aminaaltai TikTok: @theaminaaltai Linkedin: linkedin/in/aminaaltai Connect with Amy Bonaduce-Gardner Website: Prism Movement Studio Instagram: @PrismMovementStudio

*Want one piece of business strategy delivered daily to your inbox?* Subscribe here: geraldinecarter.com/subscribe Lots of people don't like change. They have enough going on, thank you very much, and one more thing to change is one more thing they have to learn, and remember to do differently. Change, seems like work. If we like our currently reality, then there may not be a need to change. But many people don't like their current reality. They want things to change, but don't want to change things. Because they don't like change. I want you to know what change is. I want to unpack it for you, so that it stops being something to avoid or resist or dislike. I want to unpack it for you, so that in seeing what it is, you can make your experience of change easier for you, you can change things more quickly, and better, and eventually, learn to enjoy change. Change doesn't have to be this mysterious thing – once we unpack it, we can see how it works. Here is change, unpacked, in seven stages. Learn to observe progress as you move through seven stages. And once you know the seven stages, it gets way easier to know where you are in the progression, and you know what stage is next. Here are the seven stages of change: Stage 1: Not aware at all. Stage 2: Aware but believing that you're powerless to change anything. Stage 3: Aware, and believing you can change things, but aware only after the fact. Stage 4: Aware in the moment, but it happens so fast, that you don't change it in the moment. Stage 5: Aware that it's happening in the moment and change it while it's happening. Stage 6: See it coming and prevent it. Stage 7: Permanent change. I hope understanding and appreciating the seven stages of change helps you befriend the change.

Using Romans 8:29–30 as his text, Derek begins to look at the seven successive stages of God's plan for those who love Him, who believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior, and who have become members of God's family. The culmination of this plan is that we will share Christ's glory and sit with Him on His throne throughout eternity.
