Former Detective David Quinn sits down with Aeman Presley for the first time since their unforgettable six-hour interrogation. For Quinn, this wasn’t just another case; it was the final chapter of a 30-year career in homicide, one that forever changed how he views justice, redemption, and even the death penalty. He reflects on the spiritual moments that guided the investigation, calling them nothing short of divine intervention. Aeman opens up about the pain and trauma of his upbringing, the influences that shaped his descent into violence, and the regret he carries every day. Together, they discuss the human side of tragedy, how community, media, and personal choices intertwine to create paths that sometimes end in darkness, and how, even then, healing and understanding are still possible. Aeman reveals the psychological battle he’s fought since childhood, marked by fatherlessness, gang affiliation, and undiagnosed mental health issues. He talks openly about his early life in Chicago, his attempts to pursue a professional life in acting, and the psychotic break that led to a series of brutal murders in the Atlanta area. Aeman walks listeners through his inner monologue before the killings, the warped logic he believed justified his actions, and the moment of psychological rupture when the “demon” within took over. In August of 1992, the US Marshals Services were called to a property in the remote Boundary County of Idaho, called Ruby Ridge, to arrest Randy Weaver who had failed to make his court appearance for gun charges. The exchange between the Weavers and the US Marshals soon turned violent and the FBI Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) was called in to help. Over 11 days, 3 people would end up losing their lives and the events that took place during the standoff would be hotly debated for many years to come.     Sources:    Lancaster, Joe, “Randy Weaver Dies”, Reason.com, May 13, 2022, https://reason.com/2022/05/13/randy-weaver-dies/, accessed Dec 14, 2024.    Editors, TheFamousPeople.com, “Randy Weaver Biography”, TheFamousPeople.com, Jan 5, 2021, https://www.thefamouspeople.com/profiles/randy-weaver-11610.php, accessed Dec 14, 2024.     History.com Editors, “Ruby Ridge”, History.com, Aug 21, 2018, https://www.history.com/topics/1990s/ruby-ridge, accessed Dec 14, 2024.    Cantrell, Asher, “The Ruby Ridge Standoff Was Worse Than You Think”, Grundge.com, May 19, 2020, https://www.grunge.com/210766/the-ruby-ridge-standoff-was-worse-than-you-think/, accessed Dec 16, 2024    Fraga, Kaleena, “What Really Happened During The Siege At Ruby Ridge?”, Allthatsinteresting, com, June 16, 2024, https://allthatsinteresting.com/ruby-ridge-incident, accessed Dec 16, 2024.     Sengupta, Sounak, “Lon Horiuchi: What Happened to The Ruby Ridge Sniper?”, The Cinemaholic, Nov 15, 2023, https://thecinemaholic.com/lon-horiuchi/, accessed Dec 31, 2024.  Geranios, Nicholas, “20 years after Ruby Ridge, there's forgiveness”, NBC News, Aug 20, 2012, https://www.nbcnews.com/id/wbna48725729, accessed Dec 31, 2024.    “William Degan - Remembering Twenty Years Later”, U.S. Marshals Service, https://www.usmarshals.gov/who-we-are/history/roll-call-of-honor/william-degan-remembering-twenty-years-later, accessed Dec 31, 2024.    “Deputy U.S. Marshal William Francis Degan, Jr.”, Officer Down Memorial Page, https://www.odmp.org/officer/370-deputy-us-marshal-william-francis-degan-jr, accessed Dec 31, 2024.    “Waco siege”, Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waco_siege, accessed Dec 31, 2024.    “Oklahoma City bombing”, Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma_City_bombing, accessed Dec 31, 2024.    “A Review of Allegations of a Double Standard of Discipline at the FBI”, US Department of Justice, Nov 15, 2002, https://oig.justice.gov/sites/default/files/archive/special/0211/chapter5.htm, accessed Jan 5, 2025.    “Ruby Ridge: Sara Weaver Discusses Inside Details of Siege - Pt. 1 - Crime Watch Daily”, Crime Watch Daily, June 1, 2016, https://youtu.be/IVLxdWwGB0I, accessed Jan 5, 2025.    “Ruby Ridge: Sara Weaver Discusses Inside Details of Siege - Pt. 2 - Crime Watch Daily”, Crime Watch Daily, June 1, 2016, https://youtu.be/SC820Ii_RxM, accessed Jan 5, 2025.

In 2016, a police officer receives an alarming text message from his own wife while he is on his way to a waffle house. He rushes home but it appears he is too late as he smells gun smoke and notices a locked closet. He radios police that he has even heard gun shots before he entered the apartment. When police arrive and force open the locked closet door, what they find is a bloodied unconscious woman on the floor; hair saturated in blood and her head placed perfectly on a pillow. The police officers service weapon is discovered under her body. When the woman is airlifted to hospital and her head is shaved, doctors cannot find a bullet hole injury. It's seemingly more likely that her injury was caused due to blunt force trauma. There is no bullet entry wound to be found. Will we ever truly know what happened in the closet?    Source info Petition · Justice For Jessica Boynton · Change.org How to Deal With Financial Abuse in a Marriage (choosingtherapy.com) 10 Tactics of Coercive Control, Torture Within a Family (domesticshelters.org) What if Your Abusive Husband Is a Cop? | The New Yorker Behind the closet door: Crime Watch Daily investigates the Jessica Boynton case | Truecrimedaily.com Who shot Jessica Boynton? Police dispatch receives a call from one of their own in 2016. The officer tells dispatch that he has just received a distressing text from his wife who is at home with their two children. He is worried she is going to commit suicide and that he is rushing home as he is talking to dispatch. When police arrive to the officer's home, he is already there waiting outside the apartment. He had previously radioed police and told them he had arrived, heard the baby crying, heard 2 gunshots, unlocked the door and went into their home, smelled gun smoke coming from the locked closet he keeps his gun in and fled the apartment with his police radio which he grabbed from the kitchen to inform the police what the situation was.  Police enter the home and force open the locked closet the gunshots supposedly came from. Inside they find the officers wife. This was immediately treated as a suicide but there are people asking, was it?   Source info How to Deal With Financial Abuse in a Marriage (choosingtherapy.com) 10 Tactics of Coercive Control, Torture Within a Family (domesticshelters.org) What if Your Abusive Husband Is a Cop? | The New Yorker Behind the closet door: Crime Watch Daily investigates the Jessica Boynton case | Truecrimedaily.com Who shot Jessica Boynton? Remember the original Unsolved Mysteries from back in the day when Robert Stack was the host? How he always wrapped up the intro by saying, “Perhaps you may be able to solve a mystery.” Retired FBI Criminal Profiler John Douglas agrees. He says in our book today that “...there's almost always someone out there who has information needed to complete the puzzle.” Our book this week is The Anatomy of Motive by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker and our guest is a familiar one, private investigator Sheila Wysocki. She's going to help us understand what the term “victimology” means how you prepare one and why it's so important for investigations Sheila Wysocki became a household name in the private investigation world after she helped solve the cold-case murder of her college roommate, Angie Samota, more than 25 years later. On the morning of Monday, December 4, 1995  Gary Foster was driving down his driveway to drop off some letters in the mailbox when he noticed that a part of his fence was down. He stopped his car, and got out to go fix it, but as he approached he noticed a body lying in the tall grass. As he approached he realized that the victim was dead. He stopped moving. Recently this land had become a popular location for drug deals and other nefarious activities, so he decided to leave everything as it was, and go call the police. At the same time Linda Jones realized that her 16 year old daughter, Adrianne, wasn't at home in her bed. In fact, it looked as though Adrianne's bed hadn't been slept in at all. Linda briefly considered the possibility that Adrianne had gone on an early morning run, but then she noticed her running shoes lying on the ground. Linda called Adrianne's school and her workplace. No one had seen her at either location so Linda immediately called the police to file a missing persons report. On November 27th, 2017, 22-year-old Cheyann Klus left her home in Downers Grove, Illinois, taking an uber to visit her reported boyfriend's house for a party. Two days later, just after sunrise, she began sending a string of text messages to a friend, asking to be picked up. When her boyfriend awoke from an 18 hour slumber, Cheyann was gone.Twelve days later, on December 11th, 2017, a call came in to 911 dispatchers... from Cheyann's phone. But on the other end of the call was nothing but silence before the caller hung up. To this day, it's unknown whether Cheyann made that call herself... or someone else dialed 911 from her phone. Investigators traced the call to Mallard Lake Forest Preserve, 20 miles away from where Cheyann was last seen. At least two large scale searches have been conducted at the preserve, but no evidence has ever been found, including Cheyann's phone.Cheyann's official date of last contact is listed as December 1st, 2017, when a friend was reported to have spoken with her. But she has not been seen or heard from since. Her previously active social media accounts have been completely silent since she disappeared. If you have any information regarding the disappearance of Cheyann Klus in early December 2017, please call the DuPage County Sheriff's Office at (630) 407-2400 or (630) 407-2323._________________________Request a Case: https://forms.gle/FFZTNhqcXpQ6qRGr8Goodpods | Leave a review: https://goodpods.app.link/ij0wxVE8vobPodchaser | Leave a review: https://www.podchaser.com/podcasts/crime-and-crime-again-1440387Music: "Poisoned Rose" by Aakash Gandhi_________________________Sources:• "Where is Cheyann Klus? Lenora Claire, the Erin Brovovich of stalking, joins us for her second powerful episode. So often our society misunderstands stalking to the extent that it's often a theme in comedians' standup. And yet, real life stalkers are frequently terrifying, dangerous and nothing to joke about. And with a justice system that does just short of nothing to help survivors, we need a bright light of hope. And that's where Lenora Claire comes in as our bright light in a sea of darkness. In this episode, she discusses how you can reduce your risk of having a stalker, best steps to take directly after being sexually assaulted, along with legal changes she is attempting to push through our justice system, such as her app concept with geofencing that would allow survivors to track their stalker. Finally, she tells us about Lenora Claire LLC, her company designed to consult with the entertainment industry, specifically on True Crime shows, so their treatment of survivors is ethical and kind while working with them. Please join us for this episode of Open Deeply that proves that super heroines are real. Lenora Claire is a survivor of multiple violent crimes, a member of the Los Angeles District Attorney Crime Victims Advisory Board, the CEO of Lenora Claire Consulting LLC, as well as an entertainment industry professional. After becoming the fixation of a dangerous stalker, Lenora began to speak out not only for herself but for the other 7.5 million Americans currently being stalked who find themselves without resources and living in fear. Lenora's case has been featured on 48 Hours, Dr. Oz, Crime Watch Daily, CBS News and other media outlets. Named “The Erin Brockovich of Stalking” by Vice, Lenora has helped countless people obtain restraining orders. She has served as a human shield in court and lectured on the subject of risk minimization at schools, on television and on podcasts. "DEATH ON OCEAN BOULEVARD" The call came on the morning of July 13, 2011, from the historic Spreckels Mansion, a lavish beachfront property in Coronado, California, owned by pharmaceutical tycoon and multimillionaire Jonah Shacknai. When authorities arrived, they found the naked body of Jonah's girlfriend, Rebecca Zahau, gagged, her ankles tied and her wrists bound behind her. Jonah's brother, Adam, claimed to have found Rebecca hanging by a rope from the second-floor balcony. On a bedroom door in black paint were the cryptic words: SHE SAVED HIM CAN YOU SAVE HER. Was this scrawled message a suicide note or a killer's taunt? Rebecca's death came two days after Jonah's six-year-old son, Max, took a devastating fall while in Rebecca's care. Authorities deemed Rebecca's death a suicide resulting from her guilt. But who would stage either a suicide ora murder in such a bizarre, elaborate way? Award-winning investigative journalist Caitlin Rother weaves stunning new details into a personal yet objective examination of the sensational case. She explores its many layers—including the civil suit in which a jury found Adam Shacknai responsible for Rebecca's death, and the San Diego County Sheriff's Department bombshell decision to reconfirm its original findings. As compelling as it is troubling, this controversial real-life mystery is a classic American tragedy that evokes the same haunting fascination as the JonBenet Ramsey and O.J. Simpson cases. Caitlin Rother is a New York Times bestselling true crime author and Pulitzer Prize-nominated journalist. She worked for nearly two decades as an investigative reporter and has had work published in Cosmopolitan, The Los Angeles Times, The San Diego Union-Tribune, The Chicago Tribune, The Washington Post, and The Boston Globe, among others. When the girls decided to run away from home with their mother in December 2007, a series of events would unravel leading to the devastating murders of the young girls at the hands of the man who should have been their protector. On July 17, 2011 Robbie West was found dead by another soldier named Kenneth Zubic who had called 911. After an investigation by the Phenix City Alabama police department and the Army, Robbie’s death was ruled a suicide. Robbie’s mother and wife both disagreed with the suicide claim. Deanne contacted a program called Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen. She asked the program to look into her son’s death. What they found was troubling. Deanne also received evidence photos through a Freedom of Information Act request. She said there was a lack of blood splatter. Here is a quote from her: “There was a lack of blood splatter, there was the weapon that was laid in his lap and it was up under a fold of his belly, so how can you shoot yourself in the head, lean over to the right, then the gun fall perfectly under the flap of your belly?”Do you know what happened to Robby West on July 17, 2011 in Phenix City Alabama? In this episode, Wendy and Beth interview Phil Chalmers and Dellmus Colvin. Phil Chalmers is a True Crime Writer, Law Enforcement Trainer, and Television Personality. He has appeared on many television shows including Killer Kids on A&E, and Crime Watch Daily. He is the author of several books, including Inside the Mind of a Teen Killer, and he’s working on a book about serial killers. He has interviewed many serial killers and is very familiar with hundreds of black male serial killers. We covered Dellmus Colvin in S2 E15. Phil speaks to him regularly, and we made an offhand comment on that episode about wanting to talk to him. Phil reached out to us, and we couldn’t say no. However, we want to point out that we are not serial killer sympathizers. We thought it would be interesting to hear what he had to say, and we wanted to know about his early life. Some of what he says is shocking. If you think that this might be triggering for you, maybe skip the part with Colvin, which happens about 30 minutes in. It was a hot day in the summer of 2014. Justin Ross Harris was driving down the road with his toddler, Cooper, when the pair stopped at Chick-fil-A for breakfast. Justin was supposed to drop Cooper off at daycare afterward, but instead, he drove straight to his office. Justin got out of his vehicle and walked into work, leaving his little boy in the SUV. Cooper died that day. But did Justin leave Cooper there on purpose? Or was it a terrible accident? Then Kristin tells us about Stephen Allwine. Stephen presented himself as a deeply religious man who loved his wife, Amy. But on his 43rd birthday, Stephen traded $6,000 cash for some bitcoin, ate a late lunch with his mistress, and then got on the dark web. He reached out to a freelance hitman. He wanted his wife dead. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “If you want to kill someone, we are the right guys,” by Mara Hvistendahl for Wired.com “Stephen Allwine sentenced to life in prison for wife’s murder,” by Tom Lyden for Fox9 The Stephen and Amy Allwine episode of Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “Leanna Taylor Speaks Out” episode 20/20 “Ross Harris trial: More sexting part of 3 key things to know” by Christian Boone and Bill Rankin, The Atlanta Journal Constitution “Why did the jury convict Justin Ross Harris on all counts?” by Christian Boone and Bill Rankin, The Atlanta Journal Constitution “A timeline of the Justin Ross Harris case” by Christian Boone, The Atlanta Journal Constitution “Day by day: Key moments from the Justin Ross Harris trial” by Mayra Cuevas and Natisha Lance, CNN

Handwriting Took Mozelle Out of Her DarknessMozelle Martin is a forensics expert with a specific skill-set regarding not only handwriting analysis - but how to use handwriting practices to encourage changes in underly personality traits. Yes, handwriting awareness and analysis can provide answers to underlying conflicts. Now, this may sound a bit odd - beyond arcane - but in the spirit of diverse information and continuing here at CBJ to consider interesting options that might provide different useful answers I've included this interview. Listen up, her insights are persuasive. Finding HerselfMozelle was adopted at birth and raised as an only child by successful entrepreneurs, yet in an exceedingly toxic childhood environment. Today she is grateful for these experiences because they helped her fine-tune the life she wanted. Always feeling like "the girl behind the fence" she now appreciates her driven purpose to remain focused on healing and success. Handwriting is but one of her unlocking tools.  After growing up in the forensics field, and serving a short time in the military, Mozelle opened her coaching practice in 1987 and became the first person in modern history to create a personality-changing, brain-based program through using one's handwriting to change personality characteristics. Since that time, Mozelle's career as a forensic handwriting expert continued to grow rapidly. She then moved into consulting for law enforcement agencies around the world, and regularly serves as a legal consultant and an expert witness. Her Media ExperienceThroughout her career, Mozelle has been featured on international radio and television programs, and in print media. She has been a consultant for Criminal Minds, has given commentaries to media outlets such as ABC, NBC, Crime Watch Daily, TruTV, is a former newspaper columnist, and morning shows regular. She is a member of the Mental Health Awareness Coalition and the National Organization for Women and is a Board Member of the Council of Families for Children. Additionally, Mozelle is a Forensic Case Consultant, working closely with her colleague, a retired Federal Agent to assess handwriting meanings. After 14 years of college, Mozelle graduated with a Master's degree in Forensic Psychology, finishing in the top 15% of graduate students worldwide. She also holds a Doctorate in Transcendental Psychology and has worked as a Forensic Mental Health Professional in various correctional facilities across the USA. She currently teaches forensics at a Phoenix-area college and is listed in the Mental Health Professional Referral Network (MHPRN). *Photo by https://unsplash.com/photos/y02jEX_B0O0?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText (Aaron Burden) on https://unsplash.com/search/photos/fountain-pen?utm_source=unsplash&utm_medium=referral&utm_content=creditCopyText (Unsplash) Additional CBJ Experts on Childhood TraumaChildhood Trauma & Recovery - http://corebrainjournal.com/191 (http://corebrainjournal.com/191) - Brown DeEscalate Anger & Trauma - http://corebrainjournal.com/150 (http://corebrainjournal.com/150) - Noll Her Handwriting Websites & BooksPodcast: http://www.Mozelleology.com (www.Mozelleology.com) Blog: http://mozellemartinblog.com (www.MozelleMartingBlog.com) http://geni.us/martin (Detecting Suicidal Thoughts in Handwriting) - Martin, 2017 - Global Amazon Link http://geni.us/martin2 (Criminal Cases of a Forensic Handwriting Expert) - Martin, 2017 -  Global Amazon Link https://www.amazon.com/Mozelle-Martin/e/B0763JSLG6/ref=sr_tc_2_0?qid=1518387694&sr=1-2-ent (Mozelle's Amazon Author Page) -----------Forward This Audio Message Link To a Friendhttp://corebrainjournal.com/194...
