The Milwaukee Brewers' designated hitter connects for No. 755 against Dick Drago of the California Angels. Aaron's home run helps the Brewers to a 6-2 victory.July 20, 1944, Nelson Potter of the St. Louis Browns becomes the first major league pitcher to be suspended for throwing a spitball. Potter is forced to the sidelines for 10 days, but will still win 19 games on the season.1916: The Reds acquire three future Hall of Famers when Christy Mathewson is traded to Cincinnati with Giants CF Edd Roush and 3B Bill McKechnie for former Giants Buck Herzog and Red Killefer. McKechnie will make it to Cooperstown as a manager, not as a player, but the 23-year-old Roush is a steal for the Reds. Mattie & Killmer sit down for a birthday podcast celebrating Matties 41st birthday! Back from a recent trip to the RingBrothers paint correcting and ceramic coating two new cars, one of them happed to be Mike Rings new SRT. With only two days to complete the job Davy P and Mattie worked long days to knock out both vehicles. The first one was a new Black Acura MDX with 4,000 miles, the second one was Mike Rings new SRT. I am sure most detailers prefer to work on new cars when given the chance vs countless labor hours on high milage used vehicles. However, many new cars are coming right from the manufacture with paint issues these days. A common problem is factory die back or paint shrinkage and this new SRT was by far the the worst we have seen have ever seen. If you are new to detailing and are not familiar with this term, you can ready about it on the internet. I-CAR and BASF have some information on there web page describing some of the causes. Many professional detailers are equipped with the tools, pads and liquids to tackle the common defects such as scratches, swirls, blemishes, fading and oxidation. When it comes to Dye back, its more of a chemical reaction from the paint drying and some of these "defects" or "inconsistencies" are stuck in the clear from cross linking. Sometimes its an easy fix just by cutting with a microfiber pad, and other times its time it becomes time consuming and can involve sanding the paint. Its very likely that the car care industry will continue to see more and more of this in the future, we walked to get the conversation started about this topic. I had the pleasure of interviewing Hazel Jones of Matties Memory today. It was such a blessing to listen to a woman establish an organization for grieving families who have lost an infant. Hazel will share personal reflections as to how Matties Memory came about and how it is needed in our lives today. I was blessed to have listened to her story and realized as Moms, people still don't understand our pain and probably never will, but Hazel and Matties Memory are there to support and fill the void others cannot. After receiving a random message on Facebook stating that a place called Mattie’s at Green Pastures had four resident ghosts, Stephen’s interest was piqued to look into this claim as a new potential case. Come to find out, Mattie’s is a recently renovated restaurant, bar and wedding venue, but more interestingly it was housed in a historic mansion with an enduring colorful history. Now deemed an Austin Historic Landmark, the home in which Matties resides dates back to 1895 was witness to many families living through landmark events including two world wars. Now, staff at Mattie’s are coming forward with unexplained experiences and it’s more than just dismissable occurrences like glasses falling off shelves or lights flickering. There have been two very significant full-bodied apparition sightings by two employees. More impressive is that what each reported seeing matched, almost to a T, and even more impressive - both employees hadn’t shared their experiences with one another. However, what really elevated this case to a level of interest was the story of the wandering psychic, Cindy, who appeared one day claiming that the spirits of the home had called her to Mattie’s. She was allowed to sit in the home and absorb all that she could. In the end, she produced a booklet of notes detailing five spirits that seemingly haunted this home, their histories, and their wishes. It was an incredible story, but Stephen wanted to know more. He wanted to investigate Mattie’s with his team, and see where this fascinating case might lead.
