Forever evolving and progressing her sounds, Nadia Struiwigh's ear and passion for coaxing out the best from her array of studio gear always results in tracks with a certain je ne sais quoi. Through emotionally charged ambient releases like Pax Aurora on Nous'klaer, or Birds of Paradise on Dekmantel, her artistic freedom is a key factor that provides a freshness to her music. Like the musical yin and yang, from Ambient to the dancefloor, Nadia's adeptness at creating special tracks doesn't end at the beatless border. Her live sets are stories of twisting techno, you know the kind that makes you shake your head at how well all the elements combine into one cohesive track. In line with this is her forthcoming release on the storied British imprint, Blueprint Records. Titled X1 Shift, the four tracker joins Voxis Ohlun (2024) as her second, masterclass in hardware driven techno. Glimmerfall arrives immediately with warm waves of undulating synths bouncing and shifting in the background. Punchy kicks and a breakish pattern keep things moving along, while Nadia's arrangement and various element choices elevate the track even more as a testament to her sequencing skills. We'll certainly be hearing this out in many a set, and club, rightfully so. Glimmerfall and the rest of Nadia's X1 Shift release will be out on the 4th of April. @nadiastruiwigh @jamesruskin-blueprint www.instagram.com/nadiastruiwigh/ Write up by @huedj Follow us on social media: @itsdelayed linktr.ee/delayed www.delayed.nyc www.facebook.com/itsdelayed www.instagram.com/_____delayed www.youtube.com/@_____delayed Contact us: info@delayed.nyc
Nadia Struiwigh is a producer, live artist, DJ and resident of Tresor. Her music spans ambient, electro and techno and has been featured on labels like Nous'klaer Audio, Dekmantel and Central Processing Unit. In 2024 she founded the label Distorted Waves focussing on hardware-centered, more experimental works. Her DJ sets explore driving and psychedelic techno, while also delving into deeper sounds, while her live sets are known for their unique sonic improvisation. “An ode to the sounds and storytelling I'll continue to explore from here on out. After the pandemic, I felt a bit unmoored. Spending time in Australia distanced me from the European scene, and I found myself feeling quite lost. Once I returned, I initially focused on Techno, but soon realized my true foundation has always been experimental music and narrative-driven performances—whether in my own productions, live sets, or DJ sets. I'm grateful to have rediscovered my creative center, and I'm excited to share this next chapter. I'm fully back, with more jungle and ambient experimental releases on the way! Thanks for your support, love always x ” Follow https://soundcloud.com/nadiastruiwigh https://www.instagram.com/nadiastruiwigh https://www.facebook.com/NadiaStruiwigh/
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Happy New Year. Our first edition for January features another diverse collection, including Kraut rock by the four-piece band Electric Orange and the re-release of Bloop's 1999 album ‘Schallaufnahmen,' performed by two members of that band, Dirk Jan Muller and Dirk Bittner. UK musician David Hughes, performing as ION, delivers a soundtrack to a no-budget student horror film titled ‘Perdition's Flames,' blending guitars and atmospheric synths. Our edited track from 1979 by Earthstar is taken from the album ‘French Skylines,' produced by Klaus Schulze. As usual, we always like to give the female side exposure, with Brooklyn-based composer and producer Rachika Nayar, who has transitioned from the ghostly netherworlds of her debut to a vivid fluorescent cinematic maximalism, and Nadia Struiwigh, who echoes a free-spirited approach of electronic music in the mid-eighties, giving emotionally-charged ambience. Threading her way at the confines of techno and abstract electronics, interwoven with elements of industrial, dub and ambient music, Tresor's new resident Nadia Struiwigh occupies a peculiar position in today's electronic landscape, offering sonic experiences both truly unique and captivatingly immersive at once. Above and foremost, Nadia has been thrashing prejudices as to the limits and norms induced by so-called genres, styles and scenes, sending the headshrinkers back to the drawing board. With a solid bunch of releases for labels as varied as Dekmantel, CPU, Clone, DFA, STOOR, MORD, Infiné and Nous'Klaer, you can clearly see how incredibly magnetic her sound has proven to be. Here comes Nadia Struiwigh with two hours of utterly dazzling, boundary-busting bravura.

From deep pools of ambience to the brain-feeding mechanisms of electro and techno, Nadia Struiwigh's gift is in expressing herself with conviction through her machines. As an accomplished live artist and producer, her affinity for synthesis and sequencing results in a spellbinding strain of electronica drawn from a richly personal sonic space she has marked out for herself. Struiwigh's recorded output has appeared on labels like Central Processing Unit, Nous'klaer Audio and Dekmantel - albums and EPs which reach from crunchy sequenced beats to vast swathes of pure, melodic tones. Her roots in Rotterdam and current location in Berlin equally speak to her affinity for techno - propulsive, dynamic machinations which manifest in DJ sets as well as live hardware performances. As a teenager enthralled with the Warp school of electronica and leftfield downtempo, Struiwigh was set on a path of discovery where the intricacy of production met with her impassioned, intuitive approach to composition. Her exacting approach to the technical aspects of the craft has earned her the knowledge to extract her own voice from any medium, but more importantly her music emerges from a very human need to communicate and connect. That connection is best manifested outside the studio. Struiwigh's live sets range from patient, beatless immersions to kinetic peak-time rushes, sometimes straddling the divide in line with her omnivorous passion for ambient and techno alike. At times she'll present her released works in a more patient, listening setting, while for the sensory overload of the dancefloor she tends towards a more improvised, open-ended approach to techno and electro. The exact make up of her live rig changes from gig to gig, keeping her inspired and ensuring no two performances are the same. High-profile shows in concert halls sit alongside strobe lit club sessions - she's since become a resident DJ for Tresor to indulge her love of driving, psychedelically-charged techno, while warm-up sets give her the chance to indulge the deeper dimensions of the music she loves. The range of her tastes can be heard across leading platforms such as RA, Phantasy, Bleep and Red Light Radio, who have all invited her to their esteemed mix series'. Plugged into the moment and constantly exploring new dimensions of her sound, Struiwigh champions electronic music as a springboard for possibilities. With an exquisite clarity which comes from both technical skill and clear-eyed intention, her music thrives on heart and experimentation, powered by machines with as much character as the human at the controls. Nadia Struiwigh immediately turned heads with her debut album, Lenticular, on CPU Records. It wasn't her first record, but it was an auspicious release at an auspicious time for a label that was at the centre of a revival of early '90s IDM and electro styles. You could use those terms to describe Dutch producer Struiwigh's music, but you'd have to also mention ambient—just check out her last album, Pax Aurora, for Rotterdam powerhouse Nous'klaer Audio—and techno, which is the subject of her new RA Podcast. Those familiar with Struiwigh only through her records might be surprised by this mix, which is over two hours of alternately atmospheric and pummeling techno. It highlights the versatility and potential of the genre, as well as Struiwigh's own outlook on it. She was a techno DJ before she started making the softer, weirder stuff, and she can recognize the music's innate emotional qualities, even at its most functional. As she says below, her intention is to "glue the best of both worlds" to create a "rare energy" with her DJing and production. Read more at https://ra.co/podcast/845

Nadia Struiwigh has been releasing her emotive, patient electronic music for nearly a decade, including albums for IDM institutions such as CPU, split-twelves with synth legends such as Legowelt and most recently, Pax Aurora, her latest and sublime release on the brilliantly curated Nous K'lear Audio. A long-time favourite at Phantasy, we're delighted to welcome Struiwigh for the latest edition of #PHANTASYMIX, which guides listeners down a deep, even meditative wormhole of rich techno and waves of diverse electronic textures. For Sydney-based Dutch artist Nadia Struiwigh, ambient is a way of life. It has always been a vehicle for her to convey memories and emotions in slow, absorbing, drawn-out movements that blur the lines between techno, industrial, and something else altogether. It is at the heart of what she does with IAMBient, where you can book online sound healing or spiritual coaching sessions. It often soundtracks the Twitch channel she runs from her studio, offering live sets, gear reviews and more. It has also formed the backbone of the two albums she has put out on Central Processing Unit and Denovali Records, as well as the new one that is due on Nous'klaer Audios later this year. But she can also do deep, sleek, beat-driven music that makes a physical impact. Her Oooso EP for Nous'klaer Audio in March showed that, and this week's mix backs it up. Over the course of an increasingly intense hour, she layers up pressurised drones and throbbing pads, static-laced synths lumpy drums that are constantly ascending. It makes for a distinctly linear sound; a meditation on rhythm and movement that cannot fail to hypnotise anyone who gives it their full attention.
