Week 2!!! “Our first year of marriage was good for Brad , but not for Marilyn.“ -Brad Rhoads, co-founder of Grace Marriage. If you ignore your houseplant what will happen? If you don't feed and care for the family pet, what will happen? What about your marriage? Your spouse? On this weeks show, Kurt and Chad welcome Pastor Brad Rhoads and licensed counselor Nathan Thompson to discuss Brad's ministry to churches (Grace Marriage https://gracemarriage.com ) to talk about grace in marriage on week 2 of a 2 show series on marriage. The majority of energy and focus on marriage ministries is either on pre-marital (before you get married) or crisis marriage (when things are headed in the wrong direction). There is a massive gap in the church these days as it relates to ministering to marriages to keep them healthy. Brad shares his testimony of how the first year of marriage set the tone for the birth of the ministry. He and his wife Marilyn realized they were in a performance based marriage instead of a grace based marriage. The Bible says we are saved by grace through faith but what about your marriage? Do you give your wife the same grace that you've received?

Traditional standardized assessments are easy to use because they expect every student to take the exact same test. It's easy to grade and inexpensive to administer. But these kinds of tests don't work. They expect mastery at a granular level and don't account for students who are well above or below the bell curve. Technology now allows us to administer adaptive assessments, where students are taken on a journey and the test is customized to find out where they excel and where they might need more help. One person leading this charge with adaptive assessments is Nathan Thompson of Assessment Systems. In this week's episode, Nathan shares more about the importance of adaptive technology, how we can do better as educators, and other use cases for this technology. About Nathan Thompson: Nathan Thompson is CEO and Co-Founder of Assessment Systems, a company driven to improve assessment by making modern psychometrics accessible to more organizations, from adaptive testing to item response theory to automated essay scoring. Nate earned his PhD in Psychometrics from the University of Minnesota, with a focus on AI algorithms in adaptive testing. Basis is an important component for crop producers to consider when marketing grain because it is used to convert the futures price to a local cash equivalent. Futures prices and basis follow different seasonal patterns so the ability to manage futures price risk and basis risk independently creates an opportunity to improve returns. Join Purdue ag economists and co-creators of the Purdue Crop Basis Tool, Nathan Thompson and Jim Mintert for an episode discussing the advantages of using the Center's Crop Basis Tool, available for corn and soybeans in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. This episode begins a new series on crop marketing. The next episode will cover thumb rules to use when forecasting basis, released in a few weeks. Podcast provided by Purdue University's Center for Commercial Agriculture. Find the rest of this crop marketing series and related resources at https://purdue.ag/cropmarketing. New! You can find the FULL video episode on our YouTube channel, Purdue Center for Commercial Agriculture. Visit https://youtu.be/tNHOQ6sazFw to subscribe and watch.
Nathan Thompson and Michael Langemeier joined James Mintert on this podcast to discuss new information from USDA's January 2023 World Ag Supply & Demand Estimates (WASDE) report, which was released on January 12th.
