Later, van life, as a touring player, didn't satisfy him, but after he graduated college he already had a two-to-three-year waiting list of guitar orders. As any artist who created an album knows, it's a roller coaster ride, and yet, such a rewarding journey. Noah and I chat all about the emotional journey of making an album. The quote for this episode is by Neil Peart: “What I've learned over the years is that the craft of songwriting is trying to take the personal and make it universal—or in the case of telling a story, taking the universal and making it personal.” Noah and I explore the process of creating an album, from writing and recording the songs to all of the marketing involved and much more. What I love so much about our conversation is that it's completely transparent and honest. Creating an album is incredible, but there are ups and downs and a lot of time and energy goes into it. This week we’re joined by South Carolina based singer/songwriter Noah Guthrie. Noah's had a really interesting journey so far - his cover of “Sexy and I Know It” went viral and led to features on NBC's Today Show, Jay Leno's Tonight Show, and Dancing With The Stars. He’s also opened concerts for Ed Sheeran, Cobra Starship and Selena Gomez, and in 2013, he released his debut album “Among The Wildest Things." In 2015 he landed a feature role in Glee, starring as Roderick. Noah tells us all about his experiences with YouTube, what auditioning for Glee was like, and the advice he'd offer to his fellow musicians. Enjoy!
