Today, Hunter spoke with Julie Ciccolini, the CEO of Techtivist. When she was working as a paralegal at the NY Legal Aid Society, Julie, like so many in a Public Defender Office, realized that there was immense amounts of data on police misconduct that was going un-used. So, Julie helped to set up a database that allowed Public Defenders to track and use this data in their cases. Realizing that this issue extended far beyond New York, Julie founded Techtivist as a way to help Public Defenders set up and utilize databases that keep track of police misconduct.     Guest Julie Ciccolini, CEO, Techtivist   Resources:   Check out Techtivist Here https://www.techtivist.com/ Read the Blue Wall of Silence Report Here https://www.nacdl.org/Document/DismantlingtheBlueWallofSilenceTrackLawEnfMiscond   Contact Hunter Parnell:                                 Publicdefenseless@gmail.com  Instagram @PublicDefenselessPodcast Twitter                                                                 @PDefenselessPod www.publicdefenseless.com  Subscribe to the Patron www.patreon.com/PublicDefenselessPodcast  Donate on PayPal https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5KW7WMJWEXTAJ Donate on Stripe https://donate.stripe.com/7sI01tb2v3dwaM8cMN Trying to find a specific part of an episode? Happy Monday! Sam speaks with John Nichols, national affairs correspondent for The Nation, to discuss his recent interview with Sen. Bernie Sanders, and the paths forward he sees for the Left after the 2024 election. First, Emma runs through updates on the acquittal of Daniel Penny, the potential detaining of the United Healthcare CEO killer, the fall of Assad in Syria and the imperialist responses from Israel and the US, South Korean President Yoom, Trump's pledge to pardon insurrectionists, and Trump's developing cabinet, before parsing through Trump's inhumane and unconstitutional plan to end birthright citizenship, and Democrats' failure to prevent this threat. Then, John Nichols joins Sam as he dives right into his recent interview with Bernie Sanders, unpacking Bernie's major takeaways from Democrats' failure in the 2024 elections, from the need for a new way to communicate with a multi-racial, multi-ethnic working class to the imperative for Democrats to stand aside and let independent, working-class progressive candidates run without the burden of the party establishment weighing them down. After briefly expanding on the challenge of convincing the Democratic Party Brand to stop pushing the Democratic Party Brand, Nichols steps back to walk through the history of this tactic's success on the left, playing a particularly prevalent role in bolstering FDR's progressive coalition and the major progress they achieved. Next, John and Sam look to Bernie's 2016 anti-oligarchy candidacy, exploring how Democrats' failure to address that growing political inequality provided a path (twice) for Trump and the GOP (twice) to successfully stand as the party of money power and as anti-establishment, bolstered by the GOP's messaging dominance (see: Elon Musk's Twitter purchase), before looking deeper into the contemporary examples for Bernie's model – namely himself and Angus King, two independents that, while outside of the party infrastructure, caucus (and vote) with Democrats. Wrapping up, Nichols and Sam look at the ongoing race for DNC chair, and the promising future of a Blue-Wall-led party – touching particularly on the success of DNC chair candidate Ben Wikler. And in the Fun Half: Emma unpacks the potential capture of the United Healthcare CEO killer in Altoona, PA, and the wide-ranging coverage of the event, from the incensed and out-of-touch Ben Shapiro to the ever big-brained Bill Burr, with additional commentary from Joe from Illinois. Zack from Missouri unpacks the MAGA defense of Trump's character, Brie from New York on their view of the View, and Jim Clyburn and Chip Roy come to the defense of Trump and his administration, respectively, plus, your calls and IMs! With the White House secured, the Senate, and potentially the House of Representatives, what does the future hold for the next Trump presidency? Former Special Assistant to President Elect Trump Marc Lotter joins the Rundown to discuss what campaign strategies led to the Election Day win, what he expects over the next four years, and analyzes the shift in Republican voters. This week on Ring of Fire! Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election, shocking most of the country by tearing down the “Blue Wall” that was supposed to keep him from returning to power. But unlike 2016, Trump actually won the popular vote (as of right now) and he officially got his mandate to return to power. To make things worse, Republicans also retook control of the Senate, giving Trump a blank check on judicial appointments. From Elon Musk to Alina Habba, some of the dumbest and biggest crackpots in the country are going to wield a lot of power. In fact, Trump made sure to point that out during his victory speech on Tuesday evening. This is going to be a rough time for people with common sense, but this is what the people voted for. Donald Trump has been far more incoherent and unintelligible during this year's campaign, and now that he's heading back to The White House, one has to wonder what is going to happen to his mental faculties. The man was already unstable, but his increasing cognitive decline is going to present very real problems that he's not prepared to face – and those around him aren't prepared to handle. This is going to be rough. All that, and much more, on this week's Ring of Fire Podcast!

SERIES 3 EPISODE 65: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: Well what do you THINK this episode is about? There are plenty of polls, interior numbers, and tea leaves to read (see "Marist Poll," see Univision polls of Hispanics in Pennsylvania, see Harris outperforming Biden and Hillary in key demos). But if you want to know how this campaign is wrapping up it's way simpler. The Trump-Vance closing argument: misogyny and violence against women. Trump says Mike Tyson should step into the ring against her. And after a week of trying to deny their comedian's "garbage" remarks had anything to do with their campaign, then trying to turn "garbage" into a bloody shirt attack on their own supporters, the night before the election, the world's most smug sexist J.D. Vance undid all of that by calling her "trash." The public polls all look very good for Kamala Harris. The private polls the Trump people see? They must've decided their only chance is to get every last hateful white guy to vote for him - because nobody else is. B-Block (26:54) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Politico's "Who Won The Day?" is a new high in low. Kari Lake explains her polling is better because she mixes in A.I., and Herschel Walker endorsed Trump. Or did he? C-Block (33:45) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: Solely because at times of stress it always gives me great joy to re-tell the story of how I met my friend the late actress Elizabeth Montgomery, and how she promptly pranked my parents.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Wisconsin has ten electoral votes up for grabs, and both candidates campaigned there on Wednesday to drum up last-minute support. The Badger State is part of the 'blue wall,' which Vice President Kamala Harris is eager to win. FOX 6 Milwaukee political reporter Jason Calvi joins to break down what he sees on the ground and emphasize what the candidates need to do in their final days. One of the biggest focuses on Election Day will be on the state of Pennsylvania, where swing state voters could decide not just the White House but also control of the U.S. Senate. Incumbent Democratic Senator Bob Casey Jr. is defending his seat from GOP challenger and businessman Dave McCormick, who has closed the gap on Casey's lead in the polls in the past few weeks. Republican Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, Dave McCormick, joins to explain his view of President Biden's “garbage” comment and why he believes the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will deliver victories to both him and former President Trump. Today, they discuss Israel's creative, non-violent strategy against Hezbollah, Kamala Harris's team fretting over key "blue wall" states, and how abortion has re-emerged as a leading issue in the 2024 campaign.First, they break down Israel's clever tactic of outing a Hezbollah bunker hidden beneath a hospital in Beirut. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) publicly announced the location and stated there was a lot of money and gold stored there. Jim and Greg explain why this is a brilliant move that puts Hezbollah in a tough position. They also have fun speculating on which Hollywood movie this situation resembles most.Next, Jim highlights his “Morning Jolt” report about the Harris campaign's concerns in battleground states. They reveal that Michigan, North Carolina, and Wisconsin are causing serious worry for Democrats. Greg and Jim explain why Harris is struggling in Michigan and urge conservatives to focus on voter turnout, rather than being distracted by political betting odds. Finally, they react to Newsweek's report that abortion is now the second most important issue for voters. While the economy still holds the top spot and immigration is close behind, abortion's prominence is seen as a political advantage for Democrats. Meanwhile, Republicans continue to fumble for a cohesive message.
