On this episode of the Get Down Podcast our guest is Chris Kinsel, managing partner of Downtown Social, New York City. Chris has been a bartender, manager and now owner in nightlife and brings a unique perspective to the show. What really stands out about Chris is the second to none hospitality provided to not only customers, but entertainers, and why that is such an important aspect to their brand and business. We discuss his transition from manger to managing partner, his move to NYC, venue rebrand and how he helped transform Downtown Social to what it is today. Finallu, we dive into what it's like to be a venue owner and understand the many overlooked costs of owning and running a venue and how that effects DJs. We hope you enjoy this behind the scenes look at the nightlife industry from an owners perspective. After pumping to $42,000 Bitcoin is finally seeing a healthy correction and seems to be building support levels at $37,000. Plan B tweeted an up to date Bitcoin stock to flow chart showing we are on track to $100,000. While a bitcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF) would be a long-term positive, in the short term it could hurt the price of the leading cryptocurrency as it would draw institutional money from the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC), currently the only way for some on Wall Street to gain exposure to bitcoin, JPMorgan analysts wrote in a report. A New York bar owner is selling his business for bitcoin (BTC) and ether (ETH), which could make it the first cryptocurrency-only restaurant sale in the U.S.

Join us for a panel discussing how the profits from corruption fuel bad governance, conflict and terrorism. Governments falter due to corrupt officials who steal funds earmarked for public projects and enrich themselves with bribes. Grievances such as lack of services and unemployment have a common source: the plundering of a country’s wealth by predatory and corrupt political elites. Proceeds garnered from the illicit trade in natural resources provide funds for militias to buy weapons and foment strife. Today’s deadliest conflicts are sustained by illegal enrichment from pillaging property such as ivory, minerals and timber, stealing from impoverished populations. Panelists discuss possible solutions to address the ongoing scourge of corruption.
