INTIMATE DISCLOSURES by Lawrence W. Manglitz This book contains selections of poetry and prose from the work of an aging Midwestern man–looking back at people, events, sexual experiences, cultures, and the church that has formed him. The content draws on his childhood, family, World War I and II, and summers in Spain. The Villa in the Algarve, Portugal, teaching in Turkey, two gay poets, and his revisioning of the myths, history, rituals, and the incarnation of his Catholic faith as he lives and approaches his death. He embraces the gift of life and the wonder of consciousness. Written with vivid imagery and unusual events in free verse, this will give you a fresh vision, sometimes startling, always disclosing the intimacy and consciousness of personal life. Lawrence W. Manglitz was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, November 24, 1938. When he was a small boy, his parents moved to Bridgeman, then to Holland, Michigan. Despite the conservative nature of that community and his family church, his childhood was a time of great imagination and wanderings on his bike and adventures in Dunn’s woods. In his youth, his life became more complex as he became aware of his homosexuality. He didn’t publically come out until he was twenty-eight. In 1961, he graduated from Godben College. Later, he earned an MA from the University of Michigan and a PhD from Michigan State University. In 1961, he began teaching at Talas American School, near Kayseri and later at Tarsus College in Southern Turkey. Between 1961 and 1965, he traveled in the Middle East and in Southern Europe, spending his summers in Ibiza, Spain. Later, after returning to America, he visited Turkey, Spain, England, and the Czech Republic many times. After returning to America in 1965, he taught at South High School; in 1968, he taught at the community college until his retirement in 2002. During much of the time after his return, he was active in the Episcopal church. Presently, he lived in Michigan with his three cats: James, Cecilia, and Zachariah. He has published poetry in Matrix and The James White Review. https://www.stratton-press.com/books/intimate-disclosures/ http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/strapress4.mp3
Myths And Culture © 2020 VOL.1 PODCAST ISBN 978-976-96512-3-4Since our perceptions at times may focus on Myths and Mythology which are just the same. But in the strictest sense, they really aren’t. I am not conflating the two issues but rather trying to make sense of the role of Myths without taking literally their references to gods, monsters, or the supernatural especially its place in Culture in context that connotes the scrutiny of myths and whether our perceptions are influenced by our individual differences and preconceived notions . In my view the aforesaid is perceived as an utterance which in this context consciously or unconsciously is functioning as a request for information, which is expected to be provided in the form of an analytical conversation.WORKS CITED"Euhemerism." This second installment of Flintco Forward’s focused look at the Texas Capitol Complex project in Austin, Texas, zeroes in on phase one construction. Host Tyler Kern spoke with three of Page’s architects working on the project, Lawrence W. Speck, Senior Principal, Paul Bielamowicz, Principal Senior Project Manager, and Ryan Losch, Senior Associate, Urban Designer. The goal of the new Texas Capitol Complex is multi-fold. It will not only celebrate the State capitol, and house state employees in state office space with more space than ever before, but it will also create well-defined civic spaces for various events and community engagement. “We want to create a district that connects to the city around it,” Losch said. Speck noted that creating a large mall to the north of the capitol building will result in a grand, green space where the public can gather for enjoyment and events. “It will be a place where families can bring their kids,” Speck said. There are many museums in the area to visit, and a planned cultural venue will generate excitement. “One of the project's big drivers is a practical financial benefit to the state,” Bielamowicz said. “The state has a lot of agencies that currently lease spaces, and by constructing these office buildings and having the state own and operate these buildings, they are saving a lot of dollars in the long run.” Be sure to subscribe to Flintco Forward to access all past and future episodes on the Texas state capitol complex.
INTIMATE DISCLOSURES by Lawrence Manglitz This book contains selections of poetry and prose from the work of an aging Midwestern man–looking back at people, events, sexual experiences, cultures, and the church that has formed him. Lawrence W. Is science the panacea that some public officials want us to believe it is? California governor Gavin Newsome is learning some painful truths about the limits of science as a basis for public policy. How much should public choice enter into the remedies to address a pandemic? David S. D'Amato has a great explanation of public choice theory and how needn't place higher faith in government than we do in our fellow man. If there's a silver lining to the challenges we've been going through lately, it's that difficult times almost always bring lessons. Michael Tennant has 6 things that the COVID-19 panic has taught us. Let's hope we're not slow learners. If you've found yourself marveling at the way that many in authority have responded to COVID-19, you may also have wondered, how would the founders have handled such a crisis? Lawrence W. Keep A Song On Your Heart preached by Lawrence W. Rodgers15 Be careful then how you live, not as unwise people but as wise, 16 making the most of the time, because the days are evil. 17 So do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, 20 giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. -Eph 5:15–20.If you do not receive our text updates please text "WSCoC" to 84576.Also, please remember to subscribe to our church's podcast to get notifications when we upload new content. Those of us who love freedom are often accused of being blind to "reality." James Walpole makes a pretty solid case that there's nothing wrong with being an idealist. Po zeszłorocznym, nieudanym powrocie do marki Men in Black, Sony powraca z kolejną franczyzą, która święciła tryumfy w latach 90., czyli Bad Boys. Mamy akcję, mamy humor, niby wszystko jest na swoim miejscu, ale my jednak mamy także z tą produkcją problem… Will Smith i Martin Lawrence powracają w roli policjantów z Miami, którzy walczą z przestępczością za pomocą niekonwencjonalnych sposobów.
