Jack's Silly Little Friendly Neighborhood Star Trek Discovery Podcast
While the Prodigy kids finally meet the REAL Janeway and her cronies, guest Kregg Castillo finally meets the XINDI! It's outrageous! Also, Okona is in this episode for some reason, and that we means we get to reminisce on all the ways that TNG Season 2 was such remarkable television. Kregg doesn&t remember Okona, and Jack also has some startling revelations about Prodigy that he already should have known. Oh, and ANDOR TALK! It's all here, and it's all outrageous!
This week we are joined by Winky and Okona to discuss a LOT. Tons of tangents!
Willriker does a Heroic+ dungeon with some guildies but Okona was afk and did not see the call for more DPS in guild chat. Sam and Al ocasionally speak to closely to their fancy new mics.
We did more Ulduar this week and decided to talk about it. Al slash Okona sometimes feels invisible in our raid group.
We are back after a short break! Today we talk about what we have been up too over christmas and about on Deathknight who embraced the spirit of giving by presuring Okona to give him a mace that dropped in Naxx.

When the crew stops for parts at a novelty scotch planet, Dal tries to fix his messy genetics with a dubious solution from a crackpot doctor. But when the kids and the Protostar are almost captured by Romulans, Vice Admiral Janeway risks a Neutral Zone infraction to get it done for Admiral Jellico. What would it take to drive Zero mad? How are emergency helmets stored on a space elevator? When are children ready to hear about Murph's body count? It's the episode that didn't have a Soong on its bingo card.Support the production of Greatest TrekMusic by Adam RaguseaFollow Greatest Trek on Twitter, and discuss the show using the hashtag #GreatestTrek!Greatest Trek on Twitch | Facebook group | Subreddit | Discord | WikiSign up for our mailing list!

Watch out for that coffee table, it might be a robot in disguise! Okona and the kids go where science is science-y, Dal gets an upgrade, but shoots blue goo. The Tal Shiar get a dose of Murfball, and Rok Tahk learns that science rules, but it should have rules. #StarTrek #StarTrekProdigy #Protostar #Murf #Janeway #Dal #RokTahk #JankomPog #Zero #Science #Goo #Romulans -Brought to you by Section 31- Episode 151 00:30 Don't Sit On Me! 01:00 The Swiss Army Upgrade 01:20 RoDOT In Disguise 01:35 Not The Off-Brand! 02:00 Attachments 02:28 Aqua Teen Hunger Force 02:55 DOTS are Real! 03:28 Corkscrew! 03:40 Don't Cork That! 04:00 NO KIDS 04:40 You Mean Me? 05:00 Artemis Rocket Launch Revenge Porn Ban? https://futurism.com/the-byte/twitter-video-moon-rocket-revenge-porn 05:30 Elon's Smooth Takeover 07:00 No Corrections 08:00 Cheeks Hurt 08:30 PaDD 09:00 Simple Tools 10:30 The Bad Enterprise 10:45 Thanks Patreons! https://patreon.com/starfleetunderground 10:50 Visit our ship's Gift Shop and Get some MERCH - https://starfleet-underground.creator-spring.com 11:20 Order of Operations much? 12:24 Disco Season 5 Production Wrapped https://trekmovie.com/2022/11/20/production-has-wrapped-on-star-trek-discovery-season-5/ 13:53 Black Friday Sales with Paramount+ 14:20 Amazon Trek Movie Deals too https://trekmovie.com/2022/11/25/star-trek-black-friday-2022-deals-included-paramount-for-50-off-and-blu-rays-for-50-off-at-amazon/ 14:30 Also deals at Entertainment Earth https://www.entertainmentearth.com 15:55 Brown Starfish Savings 16:35 Star Trek Romulan Ales https://startrekspirits.com/ https://trekmovie.com/2022/11/23/star-trek-spirits-launching-with-romulan-ale-whiskey-and-vodka/ 17:50 Happy Birthday Dwight Schultz aka Reg Barclay! https://twitter.com/TodayinStarTrek/status/1331296256220667909?s=20&t=qSepqokqReO5XbfFmNmGUQ 18:06 RIP John Aniston 20:22 Star Trek: Prodigy S1E15 - "Masquerade" 20:28 Act I 22:00 MURF BALL 23:30 Dal's Symbols 23:46 He Had a Lot In Him 24:30 He Was a Mashup 24:40 A Soong'er 25:30 Happiness Comes from Within 25:35 Paying for Genetic Manipulation 27:00 Too Good To Be True 29:00 Airlock Day Dream 30:15 I Can Make You Better 30:40 Created by a Soong 31:20 Science vs Starfleet Science 32:28 Act II 33:15 Console Lockout 33:40 Dal Goes Dahj 34:15 Space Elevator? Anika and Liz don their cutest Starfleet-issue hooded coats and beam down to an icy outpost in search of some fugitives, and along the way, we discuss Star Trek: Prodigy's fourteenth episode! "We have a plan but everything goes wrong" and "this could all be resolved if people talk to each other" are classic plots going back to Shakespeare and beyond, BUT that doesn't mean we have to like them! Liz spends an episode talking about Xindi Insectoids even though they are clearly Reptilians Stop! Don't split up the landing party! Don't leave Rok-Tahk unsupervised! Honestly, these teenagers and children are weirdly not good at planning. You'd think Holo Janeway would have said something, but she's also very young! And also, she can't get home until the weapon is resolved? And she's a Janeway, so that must be hard? We are mystified by the ongoing presence of Okona in the animated Treks. MYSTIFIED. Antimatter Pod remains an unapologetically pro-Romulan podcast We need to know every single thing about Commander Tysess, especially whether or not he and Tuvok are BFFs Some decades-overdue worldbuilding for the Tellarites, yet it has been 50-odd years and we have yet to see a single Tellarite woman We engage in wild and baseless speculation about what season 2 will look like -- will the kids steal a different starship? Will Admiral Janeway adopt Rok-Tahk? Murf's new appearance is a bit. Um.
When the kids stash the Protostar under an avalanche, they hike across the ice to hitch a ride at the depot. But when the Dauntless away team finally connects the dots, an escape with Captain Okona puts both ships on the brink of war. Who covers hazmat duties on the USS Shovel? How does Zero operate their suit? What's the first benefit of Murph's metamorphosis? It's the episode with a face for disfigurement! This Okona is OUTRAGEOUS! The eponymous captain is introduced ass-first and there isn't a more perfect metaphor for this episode. The main plot is cute, and it's cool to see an actor who might have played Riker charm the main cast - and several ladies aboard the Enterprise. But the B Plot of Data trying to find comedy is stretched thin when the holodeck selects Joe Piscopo as the end-all be-all of stand-up comedy to teach him. Especially when Whoopi Goldberg was right there! Jimmie G. hosts this episode and brings his buddy Zoltan Szabadi on board to talk Trek, Kate doesn't remember Joe Piscopo fondly, Erik waxes poetic about Teri Hatcher and William O. Campbell, and Greg is still amazed Okona never breaks his word. The Enterprise encounters a cargo ship in distress and beams over its captain, Thadiun Okona, a self-described flamboyant and rakish character with an eye for the ladies. While Geordi works on repairing the damaged part from Okona's ship, the bounder lives up to his rep by cutting an erotic swath through the Enterpise's female crew. Meanwhile, Data explores the nature of humor, foolishly summoning a mid-1980's comedian to give him lessons on the holodeck with input from Guinan. Just when it seems like the episode couldn't get any sillier, two ships pull up to the Enterprise demanding custody of Okona. One ship from Atlec wants him for knocking up a woman and the ship from Straleb wants him for stealing a jewel. Picard has to decide which claim to honor, if in fact, he honors either. Will Picard send Okona to certain doom? Will Data find a better comedy role model? Will the people who wrote this episode ever get laid?
In the past year, we've all dealt with various levels of grief, both personal and collective, centered around the pandemic. For many, it has also resurfaced familiar emotions and struggles experienced over previous losses of friends and family. To process that grief, Traveler contributors Jordi Lippe-McGraw, who lost her father in a plane crash in 2010, and Nneka M. Okona, who lost her best friend four years ago, have usually turned to travel, a coping mechanism that COVID-19 has challenged. This week, we're talking about how they've used travel to work through the complicated emotions of grief, why they want us to talk about those feelings more publicly, and what advice they'd give to those feeling adrift with grief right now. Know that the episode isn't all sad, however. As Nneka says, “[you've] got to spice up grief and make it less gloomy sometimes.” Find a full transcription of the episode here: www.cntraveler.com/story/how-travel-has-helped-us-process-our-grief-women-who-travel-podcast Pre-order Nneka's book: https://fave.co/3sXwEom Follow Nneka: @afrosypaella Read Jordi's piece: www.cntraveler.com/story/i-was-scared-to-fly-after-my-dads-plane-crash-but-travel-helped-me-overcome-my-grief Follow Jordi: @jordilippe Follow Meredith: @ohheytheremere Follow Lale: @lalehannah Follow Women Who Travel: @womenwhotravel Subscribe to our newsletter: www.cntraveler.com/newsletter/subscribe All products featured here are independently selected by our editors. What, exactly, constitutes a Trek to the Holodeck-certified "Snoozer"? There's nothing quite outrageous about Okona, a Han Solo knockoff whose ship doesn't even have real phasers. Perhaps the most "outrageous" thing Okona does is convince Data to try his hand at comedy, leading Data to... the HOLODECK.
Okona is a mary sue, from the series that inspired the first mary sue. But through Derek's eyes, even the most mundane second season episodes are exciting. At some point we're going to get past the bizarre work schedules of Starfleet crew members and Troi's usefulness, but today is not that day (and tomorrow isn't looking too good either).
Diese Woche lernen wir, dass auch auf der Enterprise sich neue Türen öffnen, wenn andere sich schließen. Und Data lernt auch in Zeichensprache zu plappern!
The Erstwhile might be a class 9 sublight cargo freighter using the same studio model as half the freighters in the Star Trek universe with a lonely crew of one, but when that crew member is none other than the outrageous Okona, you know you're in for a good time. Do Klingons ever have man buns? Does bad boy Jake have what it takes to be an acting ensign? Can the USS Hood handle Lt. Robinson's non-nonsense attitude and highly reflective lip gloss? Watch out! It's an episode we kept under 80 minutes!
Today we speak with travel journalist Nneka Okona, joining us from Colombia! We begin with a look at the life of a travel blogger. Nneka describes the “white gaze” she encounters in travel in her pursuit of documenting the global iterations of blackness through her work. We then discuss her identity as a Nigerian-American and how food offers a lens through which we can understand identity. Though her roots are in travel writing, she notes she has considered writing about grief as a form of self-care to cope with loss. Nneka concludes attesting to the power of one’s “internal voice” and how productivity levels change when its tone shifts from aggressive to gentle. Find Nneka on Twitter and Instagram @afrosypaella. Find us on Twitter @SelfCareSundays and on Facebook as Self Care Sundays Podcast. The transcription for this episode is available here.
Data's trying out some things this week on SSHB. First up, he tries his hand at being Sherlock Holmes in "Elementary, Dear Data" before getting both his hands involved in comedy in "The Outrageous Okona". This is technically the B-plot, tho, to a story about the least charismatic Han Solo cosplayer in the galaxy.
